I have a layered illustrator file. I would like to flatten the image to the top shapes knock out the bottom shapes when they overlap. any suggestions. flatten transparency doesn't do anything. pathfinder trim gives random results based on multiple layers

Ich habe goldene eckigen Rahmen in verschiedenen Größen - und bräuchte für eine Rahmen-Gallerie nun auch das gleiche Design in ovaler Form bzw. als Kreis. Die eckigen sind aus vier Teilen mit verschiedenen Verläufen erstellt. Ich bin leider im Illustrator nicht so fit und schaffe es nicht diese Formen (rund / oval) zu erstellen. Kann mir jemand helfen / einen Tipp geben? DANKE!  I have some gold rectangular frames in various sizes – and for a frame gallery, I now need the same design in an oval or circular shape. The rectangular ones are made up of four parts with different gradients. Unfortunately, I’m not very good at using Illustrator and can’t manage to create these shapes (round/oval). Can anyone help me or give me a tip? THANK YOU! 

The little boxes that show you five seconds of whatever cool thing. I get they are there to help, but I’ll be right in the middle of something and it’ll pop up and it’s annoying. I can’t seem to find a way to stop them and even getting them to clear is a problem. Any suggestions?

Running Windows 11, I’ve checked for updates. My computer runs just fine until I open Illustrator which often causes my entire system to just freeze without ever recovering, requiring a hard reboot.  Any input on how to fix this would be appreciated, I can barely run Illustrator. 

Illustrator 2026 30.2.1: I can no longer export artboards to PDF, but version 2025 29.8.4 exports correctly.I export multiple artboards using the "Export for Screens" tool, I'm on macOS Tahoe. Is this a known issue or is it just me? The following files cannot be exported. (PDF files only)  

Hello! So I just purchased the 11th gen surface pro, which comes with a Snapdragon X Plus processor. I was really exicted until I discovered that Adobe Illustrator isn't available in its full version on the laptop. It's only available in Beta, which has significally less function than the full version I'm used to. I also found that this has been an issue for a while now and I don't see any new posts about when they're expecting to have illustrator be compatible with Snapdragon. I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything about any updates to this issue? Again I'm looking for when the full version will be compatilble NOT Beta. It makes me wonder if I should just return my new laptop and stick with my Surface Pro 8.Thanks in advance for any insight. 

I am trying to use illustrator effects to bend a photoshop file which I used to be able to do but it doesn't do it the same anymore? I used to copy the layer into illustrator go to  Effects warp and I could do it from there but now the Arc and all of the other effects are greyed out and unusable! Any one tell me how to do it now? Thanks . . .

I'm working with an I76820HQ processor running Windows 11 TPM 2.0. It has 1 GB of graphics memory, which they say is enough to use Illustrator and is compatible with it according to the performance tab. However, since I updated to the latest version (30.2), every time I create a blank document, I get a "not enough GPU memory" error, even though I'm not using anything other than Illustrator. This didn't happen in the previous version (30.1) and is only happening to me with Illustrator. Also, in the performance tab everything appears enabled and activated, but in edit mode it forces me to use the CPU and doesn't let me switch to GPU; a display error also pops up.PLEASE FIX THE PROBLEM

We are using the libary and database tools in Illustrator for big projects. But our clients would love to have our saved illustrations as well. How helpfull would it be to have the option in Create Cloud to create an export to .EPS , .Ai and PNG images? I would describe it like this:Instead of exporting to a .cclibs file you can export to EPS, Ai and PNG images. You can define the artboard like: 1000 by 1000 px and the illustration (vector) scales towards that size so it fits. So you have always a good export in the correct size you need. 

Unlike some of the other posts I’ve read, I have a search field to enter my keywords...it just doesn’t work. It started about a month ago. The field works fine in photoshop. I have a creative cloud subscription and work on a pc (unsure of operating system as I came from MacOS background). Why hasn’t this been resolved?

Illustrator 2026 displays the colors of a placed PSD file differently than Photoshop.I checked the software settings in the screenshots below: both files use the Adobe RGB (1998) color profile, and the color management settings have been synchronized via Adobe Bridge. I’ve also attached a minimal reproduction file. I hope this bug can be fixed soon.

J’ai couramment recours à lmportation de fichiers .ai Illustrator dans mes fichiers Illustrator pour les BAT envoyés à mes clients par exemple. Ensuite en modifiant le fichier .ai importé les enchainements fonctionnent. Depuis quelques temps, si j’importe un .ai qui contient par exemple une importation .jpg celle-ci n’apparait pas ! Avez-vous constaté ce phénomène ?

Hello, I have a design that is a combination of foreground/background paths.  They are all grouped.  I would like to stroke each positive shape made by the paths (one stroke that outlines the entire shape made by the overlapping forground/background paths.  I have tried to use pathfinder/unite or merge, but it changes the shape/fill of the paths.  If I just stroke everything, it creates overlapping strokes on both the forground and background paths.  Im attaching a screenshot of a close up of part of the design.  Help!

I would like to be able to find specific text in an Illustrator document and apply paragraph and character styles with a script. I would like to be able to automate this feature with a batch for multiple documents.I can figure out how to apply a style to the whole text box but I would like to be able to search for key words and sentences to apply the styles to.Help Please! Thanks!

I have a client visual made up of 20 signs at quarter of the size. I now have to create output files with bleed for these signs to 100% scale. is there any way I can use ai or actions to automate the creation of these output files (creating these as multi page document is not an option does not suit the format within the visual presentation))Example 

I have a pattern, i have a shape (these differ, so this is just an example) i need to put the pattern in the shape, this can be done with masking for example. I can than get rid of the excess by using outline. But in that case there is still a line around the pattern, i need that (this is difficult) only partly. I use the outcome for laser cutting, so it should be one shape, testing wit filling with an color makes this clear. I provided an example file with all steps and expected result and my issue. Is there a way to speed up this last step? this is taking lots of time with big complex patterned shapes (and is boring work :-))Thnx in advance. Richard

So far, I've tried both 30.1 and 29.8.4 and they stop responding after around 10 seconds after opening a file. When I close it, I can't open illustrator again, and when I try uninstalling it after closing, it says illustrator is still running. Pressing "restart" the laptop after closing it takes too long, if not forever, so the only way is to hold the power button to shut down. I've tried uninstalling it on the same drive and different drive, as well as logging in and out of account. Note that while this is happening, I can still use Indesign.

I haven’t used Illustrator for a while, but I’m honestly shocked at how poor the performance is. For context: I have a relatively high-end PC (Intel 265K, 64GB DDR5 RAM, RTX 3080), and I’ve had my fair share of performance issues across all Adobe apps.Premiere has improved to a somewhat usable state. Lightroom is still laggy - I have to disable GPU acceleration to make it usable. Photoshop works, but it takes around 2 minutes to fully boot, during which I can’t click anything.But Illustrator is on a completely different level.Zooming is basically unusable. You do it once and commit, because it can take up to a minute to actually respond. If you zoom in and out a few times, you might as well go grab a coffee - and when you come back, maybe it’s done. If not, the viewport will keep jumping and you’ll just end up misclicking everything. What’s most frustrating is that this doesn’t feel like a hardware limitation at all. It feels like these apps are built on an ancient architecture with la

character window in illustrator gets blocked by other expanded windows. In illustrator, I keep an expanded panel on the far right (for properties, character, align, etc.) and collapsed panel(s) to the left of it (for color, layers, glyphs, etc.).The problem is:If I have a window expanded on the 'collapsed panel', like 'layers' for instance, and I want to use the 'font family' drop down menu in the character window on the expanded panel, the fonts window opens up BEHIND the layers window so I cannot see them. I have to exit out of the character window, collapse the layers window and re-enter the character window. VERY frustrating and time consuming.Solution:When user clicks on the "Set the font family" drop down menu, it should be layered above all windows/panels since that becomes the "active" window.

What is the best workflow to convert Pantone Lab values to a CMYK process color mix via an ICC profile conversion in Illustrator? Color Settings: North American General Purpose 2RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1CMYK: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 Is there an effective way to simply convert all spots to CMYK via the ICC profile at output (similar to using ink manager in InDesign), so that the Pantone swatch remains as a spot color in the document? The only way I came up with is creating a pdf of the Illustrator file (via Print Dialog), as there is no ink manager in Illustrator. (See below) Proposed Workflow 1:Document color mode is CMYK Assign Profile to document: Working CMYK: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 – The conversions will be based on this SWOP color profile assigned to the document. Change spot color options to “Use LAB values specified by manufacturer” – Use to get the best possible match to the actual spot ink when spot colours are converted to process. In print dialog: Output > Check Convert

Since updating to Illustrator v 30.2.1 on Windows 11, I’ve been having a lot of problems relinking files. It will generally work correctly once or twice, and then when I try to relink any more files, nothing happens when I click the relink icon; ie, file explorer doesn’t open to let me choose a file to replace the link with. I end up having to close and reopen Illustrator to be able to relink any more files, and the cycle repeats. I rely on this functionality a lot in my day to day template based work, so I ended up reverting to 30.1, and everything is working perfectly again, so this appears to be a bug specific to the latest release.

Is there any way to lock the motion of the Canvas? Video is attached.  

An error message appears every time I open files "your current color settings honor CMYK profiles in linked content but profiles were set to be ignored when this document was created." Is there a setting or something I can adjust to make this window stop popping up every time I open files?

HI,So I create simple vector graphics mostly lines and text in black and then export or save them as pdfs. I then want to check them on the following website to see if they’re black and white.https://pct.wipo.int/DocConverter/pages/pdfValidator.xhtml I have always gotten the answer that my pdfs are grayscale and the converted files are thus messed up. The blacks I have tried are CMYK 60 40 40 100, CMYK 0 0 0 1000 and Hex 000000. none seem to be working.Under Preferences> Appearance of black> I changed it to Output all Blacks accurately Export settings are:Illustrator  Default No Standard No Compression No Color Conversion Including all or no Profiles No advanced Settings or security.With Inkscape's black and exporting it to Pdfs I didn’t encounter any problems after checking it on the site.
