Recently, I’ve had a problem where I can’t change an object or stroke’s colors. When I open the swatches and select a new color, it highlights the new swatch while my mouse clicker is depressed, then immediately hops back to the old one. The color change is reflected in the “color picker” box on the sidebar, but not in the Fill/Stroke swatches panel  in the top toolbar. The object does not change colors.I created a new file and tried it there and had the same problem. I checked the appearance panel and determined that I didn’t have any additional fills or strokes in place.I updated AI to 30.1 (or whatever the most recent edition is). The problem resolved itself briefly, but started again after about half an hour of work. I tried switching the document color mode to RGB and back.Please help! Video documentation attached.

This is happening in illustrator 2024 and 2025 for me.  Everytime I go to create a new document I will get all of the settings set up and then once I start typing the name of the document all of the settings are reverted back to whatever the inital settings were when I went to create a new document. This frustrating because I won't realize it happens until I've created the document and then I'll have to either resize it or create a new one.

I'm having a problem in adobe illustrator with the Fraunces variable font. When the file is open and I change the variable font settings like optical weight, softness ect it works fine. When I reopen the file it asks me to replace the font and all my settings are lost. I'm doing logo designs so I've had to manually update the 4 variable settings across the 6 versions of a logo each time I open the file. This won't work for showing clients so I've just had to outline everything. Is there a way to fix this as I'd preffer the text to be ediable. I don't have this issue when editing the varaible settings in figma.  It says missing fonts but the variable font still works once the file is open but I have to make the changes again manually.

Opened a file shows only on Home Screen. Couldn't open it on it’s own window.

My computer is offline environment and can not access internet directly, and it install illustrator cc app ,but it need renew license each 90 days. Is there tool or setting which can find How many days are left before software licensing is required?Thanks

Bom dia,não consigo abrir um novo arquivo no Illustrator, quando clico no botão "Novo arquivo" ele abre a janela onde deveriam estar as configurações do novo arquivo mas para mim abre uma janela vazia. Já desinstalei e instalei o Illustrator, usei o CCleaner e verifiquei se precisava de atualização. Como prosseguir?

Lagging when dragging/moving photos and art

After upgrading to Monterey on my Imac all of my .eps files stopped showing the preview in the finder. This is a huge problem, has this happened to anyone else? Any idea on a fix?

When I copy and paste my CAD/shape from one illustrator document to another, the scale of the swatch pattern in the CAD/shape gets smaller. I have checked the document settings and everything seems to be the same.What could be causing this?

Suddenly no matter what I do, the paper width for any 8.5x11 inch document is 9 inches when I open the Print window. Even older files that I created and that were working correctly a year or more ago have this problem when I open them now. I am on Mac OS Tahoe 26.0.1, Illustrator 2026, on an Apple M4 Pro.  I can open a new blank letter-size document (artboard 8.5x11 inches), and when I open the Print window, it has a paper width of 9 inches. It remains 9 inches no matter which printer I choose. If I save it as a PDF and open it in Acrobat Pro, it shows that the width of the document is 8.5 inches, but if I print it, it behaves as is my document is 9 inches wide printing on 8.5 inch paper width, so it cuts off the left and right edges of my image. Screenshot of print window is attached. I've tried all the suggestions in this forum and in results of a Google search. Backstory: I just updated from a laptop with 32GB RAM to a desktop with 96GB RAM. One of the reasons for upgrading was 32GB of RAM wasn't enough to run more than 1 file in Illustrator (and I could no longer have multiple programs open), often it would still freeze and crash. Adobe says you only need 16GB of RAM to operate Illustrator. So flash forward to today, first time using my new overly powerful computer and Illustrator is still using up ALL OF MY RAM. More specifically AI Robin 2025... I have 96GB of RAM... One file open... I'm using effects but this is ridiculous. It's like it sees available RAM and decides it should use it all.I have gone through every solution I can find online (like turning off background save) and it changes absolutely nothing. I am beyond frustrated. Anybody else having this issue? Or have solutions?

I’ve been having issues with UI scaling on my 24" iMac (2021, M1). I can’t seem to find an in-between size that works for me. I recently reinstalled all my Adobe apps after resetting my computer, and now I can’t get the UI back to how I had it before.I know Adobe adjusts scaling based on screen resolution, so I tried switching from the default to other available options, but even after going back to the default, it still doesn’t look right. At 2560×1440, I get more scaling options, but none of them match the in-between size I’m looking for.I also tried using apps like BetterDisplay, but no luck so far. I believe installing macOS 26.3 beta 3 (25D5112c) was when the problem started. That problem is that Sidebar icons for all external drives are now that of the Creative Cloud application. Icons on the drive in the Finder itself are normal; it is only those in the Sidebar which have the incorrect icon. Using Illustrator 30.2.1 on Mac Studio M2 Ultra (128gb ram) OS Tahoe 26.3 using Wacom Tablet (Intuos 4 Medium PTK-640)Newly updated - on opening a new file and selecting a Brush and drawing a continuous line it stops registering despite not lifting the pen from tablet after what feels like a fairly short time (I’ve certainly drawn much longer lines in the past have been using Adobe Illustrator as a freelancer for 20+years) The length does change a little depending on how fast I draw / which brush I choose but not significantly.  switching between ‘view using gpu’ or ‘..cpu’ makes little difference. Any help welcome. Thanks! Short Screen capture and a few screengrabs of my settings attached

I used to use this script ALL the time but now a forced OS and Adobe update mean it no longer works and as it’s a work computer I cannot downgrade OS etc. I have 100s of SVGs and EPS assets (how they are supplied to me) that I need in one illustrator file so we can make all colours consistent and just generally use the files in our workflow. I would like the artboards to have the name (but not the extension) of the source file being placed.This used to take minutes with AI Merge but I cannot see a way to do it now. I can bring all the images in but pretty much have to manually rename all the artboards. I know about batch renaming but this is still very slow.I have searched but keep getting AI “help” that is generating absolute rubbish code and does not do the job. Anyone out there got a fix or suggestion? I must be missing something, surely it’s not harder to do now? 

Adobe Illustrator freezes immediately whenever I open it and becomes completely unresponsive. I am using a Mac Studio with the M4 Max chip.I have already tried installing an older version of Illustrator, but the same problem still happens. This didn’t happen until about 2025 december.Please advise on what might be causing this and how I can fix it?Thank you

Hi everyone,I’m experiencing a visual glitch in Illustrator and hope someone can help.I converted the contents of a top-level layer into a symbol definition. The definition is placed completely outside of any artboard. You can see it in the video.When I hover over the symbol, the object highlight (the outline matching the layer color) appears as a "ghost outline" that is significantly offset from the actual object(s). This misalignment specifically happens and shifts around when I rotate the symbol.Does anyone know why this is happening or how to fix it?Illustrator 30.21 (MacOS 26.0.1 on MacBook Pro 14-inch, 2023)

I’m thinking in 3D and creating too many layers.  I’m missing something fundamental in how Illustrator works, but I don’t know what so I can’t work out what tutorials might help. 

Hi,Is there a way to cut a shape into another shape e.g. circle but keep the gradient as on the example on the left rather than having Illustrator re-applying the gradient into each part of the resulting new shape? Can the gradient despite the new cut-out shape still be continuous as it is on the left? I’ve tried applying a clipping mask with a larger shape with the continuous gradient etc. but nothing has worked. The result turns withe.Thanks.

In Illustrator on Mac, I’ve organized some documents into Projects in Cloud storage.However, on iPad, I can’t see these ProjectsSame issue seems to exist in Photoshop on iPadAm I overlooking something?  or is this not implemented yet?

I want to disable the automatic opening of panels so that they do not interfere with the view, but this option does not work, and after restarting Tlustator automatically turns on again without my permission. I thought that all the settings were not saved, but no, I configured a lot of other things, and everything was saved. But the panel settings do not care. How can I prevent panels from opening?And one more thing, maybe this is the reason. Every time I start the program «««««Adobe Illustrator 2026.app» wants to access data from other programs. If you keep the data of the programs separately, it is easier to manage privacy and security. ≥≥≥≥≥≥≥ It does not matter whether I allow or deny, but still, the next time I start, it asks the same thing again. Reinstalling Illustrator did not help.

Hi everyone, Illustrator keeps crashing at startup. I have tried reinstalling but that doesn’t change anything. I have tried restarting my computer, and it sometimes works, but normally I have to keep restarting up to two or three times before it works and I have to go therough this process everytime I want to open it. It’s really affecting my ability to work. Any help would be much appreciated. Best, Andrew  

While building Ai Command Palette I found a great list of executeMenuCommand() values extracted by Shalako Lee from the 2017 SDK. As you might imagine, some of those commands no longer work, and since I'm about to release v0.2.0 of Ai Command Palette I've been testing them all and keeping track of the results in this Google Sheet.   I'm sharing this here because I figured this might be useful to some of you who write scripts for Illustrator. The sheet includes the Original List of commands from Shalako and a working list of the commands that I'm testing in Ai v26.3.1.   Right now I'm about halfway through the original 506 commands from Shalako's list. So far, I've found about 90 that no longer work. I've also updated any verbiage that may have changed in the menu system (since 2017) and updated the ordering to match Ai v26.3.1.   I also, made a simple script to test the commands below if you want to test any yourself. I have a series of elements of different sizes and shapes that I need aligned by the top-left edge of their bounds box. But I need the top-left edges to be aligned with the center of the workspace.Currently: Make selectionAlign Center (to Workspace)Align Middle (to Workspace)(aligns all elements to the center of the workspace)Write down the width and height of the top-left most elementAlign Top (by selection)Align Left (by selection)(aligns all elements by the top-left edge of the top-left element)Transform by ½ the recorded width on xTransform by ½ the recorded height on y This is a lot of steps for a relatively simple alignment.
