Questions

I want to combine different pages as spread only on export. For expample: page 03 with page 07, side by side. As my printscreen, I want do export as one spread page C3 with 7. Is it possible? How?     <Title renamed by MOD>  

Went to export, and all the page numbers are out of order. The first few tests all was good was perfect. I have no idea what I did. In setup, its seems all correct. 

"Select All Unused" option has disappeared from my menus when I'm in Character Styles and Paragraph Styles panels. It still appears in other panels like Colors. How do I get them back?I quit all Adobe apps including Creative Cloud, restarted, updated InDesign to 20.1 (was running 20 when they disappeared), thinking the update might fixt it, but they are still not appearing. Checked Edit/Menus (see screenshot) to make sure both were still checked to be visible, and both are. I toggled that on and off, etc. No dice. Any ideas? Thank you!  

Suddenly having an issue with this basic task. I'm setting up a book index (I've tried both independently setting it up as a new doc to have its pages moved, as well as setting up directly within the book) and getting stuck as my settings on the new master aren't producing a text frame on the document pages to work with. To trouble shoot, the steps taken were:1. New Master selected from Panel flyout2. Confirmed page size is same as all others3. Margins and Columns > input the same margins, but as the new Master needs 3 flowing columns, they are set up here, with gutter specs. I did not try using "Enable Layout Adjustment"4. On this master, with the text tool I draw a frame encompassing the 3 columns, and repeat on the facing page5. Ctrl. B for Text Frame options > input 3 columns with gutter specs, precisely overlaying the columns set up.6. Apply master to new pages for the indexAt this point, I should have a selectable text frame on the document set up for the index pages, yes?

Hello all,  While working in InDesign, I've been experiencing lagging issues with my cursor. For example, when I'm working doing normal things in the platform (InDesign 2025), when I move my mouse (or my track pad) around, the program freezes for two seconds before I can do anything. This happens on a timed sequence. Like every 30 seconds it does this: I work and then it freezes to where I can't do anything until it unfreezes again. SIGH* -_- I've had this issue for years with InDesign. I'm now finally deciding to post about it because my job is becoming more demanding and any second wasted on this freeze is causing delays in my timeline — I'm used to working super fast in the other platforms and they don't give me this same issue with freezing every 30 seconds. Does this community even reach the Adobe systems manager? Anyone from IT who can provide a solution? Has anyone ever contacted them directly — if so, how? Thanks so much!  FYI* I'm on my company la

Hello!Whenever I want to create a text box in a newly created document with the T-tool, the box with black outline is created before typing the text.I tried to check all tools without an open document whether black outline is set, ID closed and reopened. Unfortunately, the text box is created again and again with black outline. What can I do about it?Thanks!  

Hello all! Maybe someone has a clue. For quite some time I stumble across this problem again and again and couldn't find a solution. I remember that in some older version of Indesign for Windows (CS6?), when you opened the relink dialog on a file (image) you already placed and which you wanted to relink, it would go into the original folder (dependent on a setting) and list all files, but it would also jump to the current file (if  still existent) in that list of files and mark that file. Automatically.  Since I-don't-know-when this doesn't work anymore and I'm wondering if this sort of "auto-select" is or was a feature of Indesign or is something the Windows file explorer does in file open dialog boxes. I went through the explorer settings and found nothing. Also nothing in the ID  prefs.  If you know what I mean, can you say if this auto-select came from Indesign and if not, how and where to activate on Windows? Maybe this was something that died wi

The full problem is this: Path info in Links panel doesn't appear when hovering over individual links in the list of links. This feature has been working sporadically, and then for no apparent reason, will stop. I've opened and closed documents, quit and restarted InDesign and followed a solution posted in Feb 2017 (after a similar question was asked in 2016) to trash the “InDesign SavedData” file in the hidden Library. None of these actions have solved it. Occasionally the function will return and then disappear again while the document is still open. The problem exists for all documents. I'm using the 2017.1 release. Anyone have a fix? Thanks!

This sounds ridiculous I know, but all of a sudden when I use the Windows keyboard shortcut to fit frame to content (Ctrl + Alt + C) I get a confetti explosion from each corner of the screen, rather than the text box fitting to the content. I can still access the function from the menu and it works this way, but I miss the shortcut. Does anyone know what on earth is going on? Here's a very quick video showing the problem. InDesign is not showing a majority of the review annotations. I have it updated to the latest version (16.0) and I have preview mode turned off. It is consistently not showing on the web browser and desktop software. On the document, I have comments from the same day from the same user showing inconsistently. Mainly it isn't showing where text has been struck-through or highlighted, but it shows where shapes were drawn just fine. The comments still show on the side but it doesn't show where the annotation is when I click on the comment, and I can't see the annotations after manually scanning the text.

Keep getting error messages when trying to publish online document from Indesign.Same message appears when trying to make a reviee link.Are the servers down? 

I have brand-new Mac mini M4 and InDesign 2025Everything is brand new. New install now old stuff around. Everything runs blazing fast, except for InDesign.Pretty much every Interaction has a 1-second lag.Selecting a Text Field - 1sec lagSelecting image - 1sec lagSwitching from another Window to InDesign - 1sec lag What to do? Maybe the M4 can run Crysis… but can it run InDesign? Doesn't look like it. 

Hi! I have designed my infographics in the Ai, but when place them into Indesign, all texts disppear from the graphics. What should I do to make them appear in the graphics?

I'm trying to create an accessible PDF. I've tagged my elements in InDesign using styles. I've set the order of my content in the Articles panel. When I export my file to PDF, why is the reading order not correct? Is there a way to set the reading order of the PDF I create from within InDesign? Or do I have to redo the reading order within Acrobat every time I make a PDF?

Hi, could somebody please explain why an svg created in illustrator with responsive unticked on export imports into indesign just fine (no margin), but when created with responsive ticked adds a margin around the image. I'm happy to save them with responsive unticked, but thought it might be better to create one responsive svg that I can use in my InDesign documents and online at varying sizes. ThanksDaniel

macOS 15.2, InDesign 20.0.1   When I generate or update a TOC there is a roughly 7 in 10 chance InDesign 2025 will crash. This happens with multiple documents and has been happening consistently with every document since the release of 20.0 in October. I initially thought it was because I was using ID '25 on macOS Ventura, but it's still happening with existing and new documents since updating my Mac to Sequoia. Additionally, the same files moved to other computers (Windows 10, for example) also crash there when generating, updating TOCs. Happens whether the documents in question are standalone or booked, with or without other TOCs in same document, with and without other documents opened. No problems with ID '22, '23, or '24 on the same computer, with the same content in new documents or with the pre-existing documents that had pre-25 file versions. I had hoped that all those literally more than 100 automatic bug reports would have had Adobe fix the problem or reach out to me f

I'm having issues with InDesign 2025. After upgrading, many of the fonts I previously downloaded in InDesign 2024 are missing. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the software, but the fonts are still not available.

Hi, I've created a simple script that will apply some Hyphenation and Justification Settings but I'm having trouble accessing that slider from Hyphenation Settings. Does anyone know how to set a value for it?Thanks in advance.

As part of a larger script, I need to group a few preselected objects. Can't figure out what i'm doing wrong. Here's a snippet:  -- Select the image and caption, group themset selection to {myRectangle, captionFrame}set myGroup to group {myRectangle, captionFrame} They get selected fine, but the group doesn't work: error "Adobe InDesign 2025 got an error: Can’t get group {rectangle id 6639 of spread id 218 of document id 1, text frame id 6665 of spread id 218 of document id 1}." number -1728 from group {rectangle id 6639 of spread id 218 of document id 1, text frame id 6665 of spread id 218 of document id 1} Any ideas? 

Hi all! I have a document with many pages. And links to pages that go back and forth. I have the page number "1" starting on what is actually page 4... because the first page is the cover, and the next two pages are the table of contents. I got all the links going to the right pages. What is NOT working is this:Those first three pages.... they are showing up on the PDF as pages [11], [12] and [13]. I did try to make those first pages their own numbered section. But I have no idea why they start at 11, 12 and 13 instead of 1, 2 and 3 (or i, ii, iii). I wouldn't care... except when I export it as a PDF, the PDF page numbers are showing up as  [11], [12] and [13]. So that's not good. I'm attaching a screenshot of the page thumbnail panel... so you can see what I'm talking about. What am I doing wrong? Thanks! 

I work with a newspaper editorial team that currently uses synching to share assets to produce our weekly publication. In a nutshell our process is: We use InCopy to import text into InDesign where our designer adds images from Bridge and then creates a review document in InDesign for proofing the layout before going to press. What are your suggestions to adjust our workflow if we don’t have synching capabilities? Will the InDesign Review pdf be affected by the remove of synching?

Hello Community,  I'm using indesign to print a small book of color photography. Typically when I print with Photoshop, I first select "Photoshop manages colors" then I select the .icc profile of the paper I'm using, in this case Canson Rag Duo.  I open my print dialogue to select my media type, The color matching section is usually grayed out, like this screenshot: However, in Indesign, when I go to the same dialogue box in InDesign, I'm able to select the .icc profile inside here as well.That wouldn't seem to be a problem, except when go to Print > Print Settings >  Color Management, I'm prompted to choose the .icc profile again  So i think what is happening is that the profile might be getting applied twice? Maybe I'm wrong and it's a redundancy that does nothing to the color, but my color is off. Can anyone advise if I can (or should) turn off one of the two .icc profiles? Thank you for your help
