Bonsoir,  J'ai eu un message sur InDesign avec obligation de fermer le logiciel. Il s'est bloqué sans pouvoir sauvegarder. Presque tous les textes ont disparu. C'est dangereux et râlant. Y a t'il un moyen de récupérer une étape intermédiare de mon document, presque terminé, quelque part ? Il me semble que oui.  J'espère avec impatience et bienveillance vos réponse. Merci d'avance.

Do the "collaborators" that you share the InDesign document with for their edits need to have a Creative Cloud license?

I have a document where I have a set number of text boxes aligned. I have made them exactly the same thing in both master page and manually. In either case, when I scroll thru the pages the text appears slightly shifted which is immeasurably distracting when flipping thru the document. I have created a new document to demonstrate my issue. I have searched the forum for three days so far with zero progress. Please help. I have attached a simple document showing the shift when going back and forth from page to page in Presentation mode. Help would be appreciated. 

I know that the Notes tool is designed to make annotations within the text, but... if it is outside the text? Frequently, throughout the development of a project, I need to make annotations regarding photographs, vector graphics, text boxes, etc... annotations that must indicate what they refer to and what the annotation is about. Not knowing any suitable tool for this, I end up using the Pencil tool to generate indicative lines and arrows, as well as annotating by hand the annotation itself (which is a triumph to read again) but which is quick to write; I also make text boxes that I place on the Pasteboard, or inside the document... generating a whole mess, lack of cleanliness and confusion... (attached illustrative example). Is there any correct way to make these annotations other than notes within the text, or what alternatives could I implement to have the most order and cleanliness possible when generating these annotations? (Imagine the client having to see this me

Or do you need a panel that can open local library files, or directories, that are frequently accessed. I'm starting to value the use of libraries now.Often I need to open certain libraries, but leaving them always open feels like it takes up space and I want to open them quickly when I need them.

It would be amazing if Adobe added a search tool inside the pages panel in Indesign to search for specific pages! I work with templates all the time and give each page a unique title, but it'd be great if I could quickly search and locate them instead of scrolling through the entire doc. With working in documents with 100+ pages this would be huge!

with the 2021 update, instead of overwrite the file, it saves inside the folder from the job I was working before, how can I change this? I don't want to have to everytime I go save the file find the correct folder to save...   You know what I mean?

Sometimes a catalog line is too long and needs to be redirected.Customers need catalogs initially, in large quantities, which can be duplicated and cumbersome.I wondered if there was a way to cope with the customer.Finally, the final draft is provided with a catalog, so I carefully check it manually. 

I have one word that needs to be underlined in a sentence. The character property says it is underlined, but it does not display underline. All the other underlined text in the frame displays fine.This line is shorter than the others. If I type extra text at the end of the line, the underline shows up when the text wraps to the next line.Spaces don't wrap and I need a CR at the end of the line. How can I fix this?Bob

Hi Everyone,I have written many books but this time I want to self-publish an ebook on different platforms. Yes, I could learn from scratch how to build a template or purchase one of the many available out there. Instead I have a completely different idea for this book and a custom layout is needed to make it happen. Imagine a book inside a book where the orientation is landscape, the main body is at the spine and a second book is in the margins commenting on the first. As I am a total noob on this, I need the template to allow saving the book in multiple formats for the most common platforms.Is there a custom market out there for InDesign? I am referring to specific to the Adobe community and not the generic "work" sites that offer everything and nothing specific.I really appreciate some guidance, and thank you for your consideration in advance.With Kind Regards,Andrew

When trying to select aspects of my design the screen goes white during the selection process.

Hello,I have this issue and can't solve it, when I open my file on indesign 2023 or 2022, all my design are not displaying (preview mode) can not see my design, even the text, I right clicked on all the elements in the page and did the high quality display in display performance, but didn't solved my problem. I preview the file on cpu, nothing changed.if someons can help please, would appreciate it.

Variables cannot be changed with the text using a text box.Can't use brace alignment?In general, we will stretch the variable text box to stop the text content from being too long.But sometimes, I want to use the forced both alignment feature, and the auto brace feature. It's strange.The variable textboxes on the homepage don't use “Align at both ends”.Nor can you use the frame's “Height and Width Autochange”..It's not an unusual need. I get it all the time.For example, I want Pinyin to automatically scatter align the Chinese characters on the previous line

I have been using InDesign since it's beginning and, for the first time, I am stumped on this issue. When typing text in InDesign I have to hit the first letter twice before it shows. For example, if I was typing "How are you"? It would look like this "ow are you"? Unless I hit the "H" twice.This is a recent issue - last couple of months or so. I ran all updates through the cloud. This does not happen with a new file with no P or C styles. The problem is that this is affecting all of my document templates which contain extensive styles. When I create a new file then import all styles, it starts happening again.I thought I would ask around before having to create all new templates from scratch.Thanks

Although InDesign 20.0 ran under 14.7.1 Sequoia for a while, the program no longer wants to start. After the click, the image appears and everything seems to be normal. Then the window opens. But it remains gray (DarkMode) and there is nothing to see. Crashes!Of course, I did everything. Newly installed. Cleared caches. No extensions. Safety mode. All fonts disabled. Font program turned off.None of it helps.On my other iMac (same configuration, applications and system) it runs. The only difference is, ONEDRIVE!On the iMac with ONEDRIVE, InDesign suddenly does not run. Don't forget, the problem only happened when opening a file. Previously, the program was running. Since then, InDesign has not been running.

Hi all, we work on many InDesign files with macOS Sonoma and Windows 10-11.  The images, the graphic elements, and ID files are stored on different NAS devices.  Editing ID files with different operating systems causes missing imported files during the opening.  Looking at the path for macOS, it is: file:///Volumes/NAS/Archive...and for Windows, it is:file:///Z:/Archive... Is the only solution to start working with the same kind of operating system? In complex or multi-system companies, this is a nightmare. Is there a solution? Thx

I’ve got a really strange issue with InDesign not letting me replace some. DM Sans is open and visable in the font list. But when I try to replace the fonts it doesn’t disappear from the list. All the documents open up and bring up this missing font list. If I ignore it then the documents do look ok. There’s no highlighted text and nothing appears to be “visually” missing. However, DM Sans does appear in the list with brackets around it – indicating it’s missing. Any ideas?

Sent out a docment to a team using Publish Online. Now it I'm getting a Document Not Found web page. I then went to check all my other Publish online documents and have the same error. HELP! Deadline to send this out is today.  

That's really bad. I do not have the time to check the preferences with the older version to look what preferences I had and the worse thing is, ALL defined colours are gone... Same is for formats and stuff, I have to do everything from the scratch, this is really really bad! So please let us use the preferences of the older version as it always worked that way before!   <Title renamed by moderator>

Hello! I'm trying to add a prologue by copying and pasting the text from my Word Document into my inDesign file. I can get the first few paragraphs to show up on the prologue page, but instead of the rest autoflowing to the page directly after, it skips and cuts into chapter 1, so it's not in order at all. It should flow like this:Page 1: Prologue openerPage 2-3ish: Rest of prologue Instead it's like this:Page 1: Prologue openerPage 2: Chapter 1 openerPage 3: Rest of prologue I'm so confused.

Due to new accessibility laws that have been introduced this month we have to make sure all images within any artwork we produce have alt text. I can do this no problem for PNG and JPEG files within Indesign but any vectors, EPS or ai files don't show the alt text once exported as a PDF. I have tried adding the alt text via object export options as well as add the alt text into the file info description and then creating an object style and selecting XMP description but nothing works - all I get when I hover over the image in Acrobat is a cursor with a outlined box (see image). I have tried adding the alt text in Acrobat too but this doesn't work on vectors either. Any advice on how to resolve this issue? Currently I am having to drop a transparent PNG over the top of any vectors within Indesign and adding the alt text to that - not an ideal work around.

Hello, I'm trying to generate a table of contents and it's not picking up the one paragraph style I've specified. Thus, my TOC is blank. Here's what I'm doing: 1) Open "Table of Contents" document and click Layout > Table of Contents2) Set the table of contents as per image below and click "OK"3) Result is shown in image belowAs you can see my "Table of Contents" document is my style source, and I synchronized just before trying to generate the TOC. There is no spelling discrepancy in the style name between documents. Hey all, wondering how to better use the eye dropper tool in InDesign for color selection. In Illustrator/Photoshop you can just hover over the colors and make as many color selections as you want until you find the exact color you're looking for. However, it seems that in InDesign, you can only eye-drop one color before the tool freezes. I have to click off my object and then re-click it to activate the eye dropper to make a second selection. It adds so many clicks and is frustrating when trying to find exact colors. Am I missing something? Thanks!
