Hi. When printing a PDF file generated with InDesign, the even pages have the lines slightly shifted downwards, although they look correctly aligned in both InDesign and the PDF. I have tried on several printers and it happens every time; and when sending the PDF to view it on my e-book reader (a Kindle one), it also happens. Has anyone else experienced this and know how to fix it? Could it be some export option of the PDF is to blame but is not shown in the file? Thanks.

I want to toggle through these master pages with a keyboard shortcut, if possible. I am updating them one by one, pasting some text unique to each language on the master pages. It would be great to have a keyboard shortcut to toggle down to the next master page in the list. My InDesign is the current version. 

Ive been experiencing this since 2 weeks ago, everytime I use ID and try to click on layout, the program crashes, and when I open it again starts in recovery mode.... any guest what can be?

In a document with facing pages, in the Pages palette, with shuffling turned on, we can shuffle left-hand pages to the right to make them right-hand pages, and vice versa. But when separating spreads into single pages, they still act as either left-hand pages or right-hand pages, indicated by a ‘spine line’ on the left or the right of the page icon in the palette. And I've been unable to find any info helping me to control whether such a page acts as a left-hand page or a right-hand page – that is, any way of changing its left or right state. Sure, there are workarounds, like reconnecting pages to spreads and then shuffling the pages in the spreads and then disconnecting them again, but I was hoping Adobe had actually included a way of simply setting whether a page acts as a left-hand page or a right-hand page, without any need for workarounds. Maybe a script could solve this, but again, it seems Adobe should just allow users to quickly and simply set a page’s state to l

I have a font with swashes (image below,) and when I export it to PDF they appear just fine. However, when I print, they get cut off as though they are at the edge of a box. But the text box covers the entire page. The frame around it is the bottom layer, and locked. It works when I outline my type, but outlining type changes the spacing a bit, and given that this has a long of chapters I really do not want to have to go through and manually do that. Hello, i'm making a moodboard with some photos in it, and i originally had the photos just scattered all over my desktop, when i placed them in an indesign doc. I then cleaned up the desktop, putting them all into one folder, still on the desktop, and when i try to open the doc again i get "One or more file aliases could not be resolved. Please verify that the original file or files still exists and try this operation again." Any suggestions for how to resolve this without having to start again?

Is it possible to write a script so that when run on a selected frame, it resizes the width only (keeping the left of the frame where it is) to the right edge of the column the frame is currently in?  If it's not possible I would still be interested on the same thing where there's only a single column in the doc.  Thanks.     

Hello,  I have this script which a user can select and image in Indesign and it will via Photoshop convert that image to PSD and save it to a particular output. When I run it it works, however I am not a scripter so any feedback or if you think that there are problems which could corrupt images etc please can you let me know. I am bit parnoid becuase an easlier verion resulted in class not registerd. The older version was using a windows batch code snippet to move files  - it was to overcome any permissions issues which on an inital script had encounted.  The result was very bad  - if I had tested an image all other files in that location when in file explorer hitting open would prompt the below error.   The reason why there was origionally windows bat code was that a temp out file was made and moved to the wanted to location. Hi everyoneI'm using Indesign since the beginning and know it very well.I wonder if there is a trick to automatically fit the page size to its content...Why?Today i'm on a new project automated with EasyCatalog plugin and then i'm generating dozens of pages with different contents. There are a lot of fit frame to content but I often resize frames to fit a page or bleed or slug. Does anyone know if this could be done?Thanks

My indesign wont let me customize the the page size. When print it like this it cuts hald my image off keeeping 8.5x11 size. Ive seen other people say to download adobePDF9 but the link is broken to the actul adobe help page. im trying to have a custom size of 13x19 with crop marks in a post script file but it wont let me. any tips and help would be greatly appreciated ive been trying to find a fix desperately.

I've gone to document set up to switch to facing pages and it's not working. The left column has some pages and the right column has some pages. How do I get the entire document to be viewed with facing pages?     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello, I have one large ebook with sections (chapters). I would like to extract these sections (chapters) as separate ebooks. I want the pages in such a partial ebook to be automatically numbered starting from 1.What is the simplest way to do this? I was considering making a copy of the file and deleting all the pages that are not part of the current chapter, but maybe there is a better way? I need this Complex file to be a source of truth, as I plan to introduce changes to it and re-generate these separate one-unit ebooks from it. Sub ebooks don't need to have Table of contents. I could almost use exporting specific pages to PDF, but I have automatic numbering that should start from 1 in every sub-ebook.

Hi,Im fairly new to InDesign and have encounterd an issue with the baseline grid. My baseline grid doesnt align to the bottom of my collumn. Apologies for a question that has been asked and answered thousands of times, but I've spent 40 minutes trying to find the answer without success. I'm afraid I've always found ID's text flow procedure incredibly unintuitive. I use InDesign to do book covers. I almost never use it for its main purpose, paging books or magazines. Whenever I do, I invariably end up either a) flowing text only into the verso pages of the spreads, or b) flowing it (after the first page or two), not into the master page text frame, but into the "primary text frame" that's made out of the page margins.Relevant screen grabs:The document doesn't have "Primary Text Frame" checked.The master page, both verso and recto, is set up with text boxes that make a primary text flow.I start with one recto page. I place text, holding the shift key to add necessary pages for the text. Pages are added, but they flow only into the left side.I start again, this time (cannily) with three pages.I place text only into the text bo

I'm so frustrated with this new Hide/Show spreads settings, but I can work around that. But, I work on a laptop so I keep my palettes small. But now I can't delete a page because the data in the bottom bar covers up the Trash icon. Does anyone know how to change this?  Here's a screen grab... 

(I moved this out of the Acrobat over here to InDesign, where this sort of thing is relevant) It appears that Acrobat > Preferences > Advanced Security (I meant to write "Security Enhanced") conflicts with synchronizing Color Management, or in other words the CSF color settings file coming from Photoshop/Bridge. What is the trick to getting security but allowing synchronized color management?

Hi there, A user of a PDF I exported from InDesign has reported issues with not being able to search (in Acrobat) for certain text strings. Looking at the PDF, I can reproduce the issue. It turns out there are extra whitespace characters in the PDF that aren't visible but prevent text searches from working. Cut & paste from the PDF into a text editor reveals these extra characters. Here's a screenshot of a minimal test case I created. This shows:The PDF open in Acrobat.A (non case sensitive) search for "shield" only showing one result, where two instances of the word are clearly visible in the PDF.The result of cutting & pasting the complete PDF text into a text editor. Note the extra newline in the first instance of "Shield". It seems this is what prevents search from finding that instance of the word.  It seems the issue is somehow related to the font. Alverata with OpenType All Small Caps seems to cause the issue in this case. (I have seen similar is
