Hey,   I am running InDesign 20.0. Everytime I save this specific file I have been working on as a PDF and print it, the printer starts printing 400-600 blank pages with error codes on them. I have tried pasting all my pages on a fresh new document-same problem. I usually save it out as a PDF Press Quality size so maybe that's the issue? The only thing I have found to work is printing directly from the indesign file. But the thing is I need this to be a PDF that can be printed properly as it is going to be sent out and printed in bulk by other people who will have access to the file. Does anyone know what it could be? Or is there something corrupt within the document or the way I am exporting it? Thank you to anyone that can help!     <Title renamed by MOD>

hii have a document that is well over 400 pages and everytime i delete a page; some empty frames appear in the middle of the page. instead of removing them one by one, ive tried a couple of scripts ive found via google, however they are working too well and removing everything- including coloured frames that i need. i have no clue how to write scripts so if someone could give me one that would be amazing. thankyou in advance!

Can particular tools be removed from the Toolbar Palette? More specifically, I want to remove the "Type on a Path Tool". When I'm switching back to the Text tool about 40-50% of the time I get the Type on a Path Tool by accident. My mouse action seems to cross the toolbar in such a way as to grab the wrong tool. I never use Type on a Path Tool so if there's a way to remove, lock, or hide that tool it would make my life a little bit easier.

I want to generate static captions for images in a document. I want to do it this way because there many images. I have watched various tutorials online and I think I've done it correctly. First I opened an image in Bridge, opened the metadata tab and in the field called 'Description' I entered the text of a caption. Then I placed the image in InDesign and set the text wrap. Then I went into Links panel->right-click image->Captions->Caption setup and in the dialogue set the Metadata dropdown to 'Description'. I entered a para style, set the alignment to 'Below Image' and the Offset to 6mm. I checked 'Group Caption with Image'. Then I went back to the links panel image, right-clicked and chose 'Generate Static Captions'. The bounding box then duly extended to accommodate a caption but the caption did not appear. Of course I have checked and re-checked everything but I cannot spot the error. Can anyone shed any light?   <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello, I hope somebody can help. my inDesign software has been working fine until 2 days ago. I use inDesign via my laptop onto a remote desktop using a VPN. I also edit and save files to a remote drive using the same VPN. Yesterday when I tried to save a document it said it was corrupted. This same issue has happened with any files that I try and open and resave. The only way I can save a document is to save it onto the remote desktops C drive, but then try to copy it back to remote drives it won’t let me (this may be an administrator issue)   I have literally hundreds of InDesign files, has anybody got any ideas why it worked perfectly up until 2 days ago, but has now developed this problem?   FYI, I am using V 19.5   Any help very gratefully received.     <Title renamed by MOD>

I'm putting together a set of investor reports, one for each product that our investors have invested in. Each one has a different brand color associated with it. So far data merge has been great for this, but I've had to go in after the merga an manual change accent text and other elements to the correct brand color. I found a video for how to automate this process bycreating a field in my csv for color (lets just call it "Color"), and filling ti with something like {red}, {blue}, {green} etc. putting the <<Color>> data merge tag on either side of each instance of accent text,creating a character style called "invisible" that gives it a color of none and shrinks it to the smallest font size possibleApplying a few GREP styles to the paragraph: Apply invisible character style to any instance of the text {red}, {blue}, or {green}:\{red\}|\{blue\}|\{green\} etc.Apply color red to text with {red} on either side of it:(?<=\{red\})(.*?)(?=\{red\})Do the same with gre

Just curious...InDesign allows creating new Parent pages with custom page sizes and orientation but will not allow to modify those attributes once the Page page is created. My question may seem trivial but is it because it would be too complex (in code) to allow changing those geometric attributes once the Parent page exists? I understand changing the page size in Document Setup modifies the "base" Parent page automatically. I understand it would not make sense to allow changing the document size through the Parent page dialog because we have the Document Setup dialog to do that. Still, it's a question my students ask and I confess I don't have a good answer for them.   <Title renamed by MOD>

I noticed lately, when opening an InDesign document containing PANTONE colors in the Swatches palette such as this one:   that InDesign no longer prompts me for the presence of PANTONE colors?As of October 21 2024(I have v20 installed and ready to fire up but I'm staying in v19 for my class)     <Title renamed by MOD>

I have created a very large file of over 1300 pages. It is the entire Bible in the Polish language. I added bookmarks in order to go to each book and each chapter. When I click on the bookmark from the Indesign bookmarks panel, the bookmarks work perfectly. But when I export to PDF, some of the bookmarks are incorrectly linked. For example, if I click on a bookmark that is on page 1298, it takes me to a bookmark that's on page 1323. Every subsequent bookmark I click takes me to the next bookmark from that incorrect spot. In other words the bookmarks from page 1298 to page 1323 do not work. I have tried deleting and redoing them, I have tried exporting the PDF with different settings, but nothing seems to work. I have this shape, which is a group of 5 objects :I would like to scale them to precisely 2 inches proportionately.As can be seen by the screen capture, it measures 1.8081" x 1.8244". Is such a feat possible with InDesign? Without doing some arithmetic within the Transform palette or in the Scale dialog? Sorry if this is too obvious...When I type 2" in the Transform palette the elements get "cropped" as shown below :Thank you in advance for your kind help and patience.

Does anyone know if I can create an unordered list (for style and tagging purposes)  and not have the bullets show up? I am running into dead ends looking for this answer.      <Title renamed by MOD>

Here is a screen capture of a Gradient Feather on a picture frame :Nothing unusual at first except, it seems it's not possible to apply the effet on the image content alone? I tried using the Effects palette and select the "Image" content alone but all the palette lists is : Object, Fill and Stroke. There is no interface for "Content" or "Image"? If I try apply the effect to the Fill, it's not visible because the Fill is not colored and is sitting behind the image any way.  InDesign lets me apply the effect to the Stroke just fine but that's not what I'm after.I would not mind applying the effect to the Object first and then remove it from the Stroke in the Transparency palette but that does not work either. Sadly, the Documentation is mute over applying a Gradient Feather to images 😞  <Title renamed by MOD>

Hoping someone can help me figure this out!  I'm getting a massive slowdown when I exceed 4-5 master pages in my doc. (Currently, I have/want to use 10 master pages for 64 pages of text; created as a parent and child masters.)I've turned off live Preflight & Save Preview images, set display to Typical. There are no images or drawings or links in this doc. Nothing else is running, and I'm using a late 2014 iMac, 4ghz intel core i7, 32 GB memory, AMD Radeon r9 m295x 4GB graphics card.Once I delete half my master pages, everything runs smoothly no matter how many pages of text I have in this doc!Any ideas?{Renamed by MOD}

My team is consistently encountering an error message (see screenshot) when exporting files in InDesign. Despite using a previously reliable template and only making minor changes to page 4 (an image and some text), we've been unable to resolve the issue. Im using indesign Since 2014, after update indesign22, this will happend on every new update. my problem is when i press Right arrow The cursor go jumps to the up line and when i press left arrow the cursor Go to below line . URGENT. Opened my project file and most of my texts are not visible. The text box is still there and when I see the layer name, I can see the text is still there... If I add new text its visible but I need the old text back, Its not visible in editor or exporting. Pls help     <Title renamed by MOD>

If I make three columns in indesign and I give them three different width in the panel "Table". How do I save this information in a table format?   And by the way, I can't really make the table format do anything, If I mark a whole table and choose save table format it doesn't seem to pick up the number of cells in the saved format. That is how paragraph format works but not table formats?   <Title renamed by MOD>

I'm trying to insert a cutline under a photo in a news story for a community shopper. I've done the text wrap on the image box for the photo and the text wraps around it nicely. I can't get the cutline to fit right under the photo. If I pull the top bounding box line for the cutline down to the top of the type it sends the text I enter to the middle of the bounding box. It won't let it go to the top of the bounding box thus there's too much space between the top of the cutline and the bottom of the bounding box. Any help is appreciated as I'm trying to send to printer in about four hours.   <Title renamed by MOD>

I have a justified paragraph with some words breaking to the next line without a hyphen, i have hyphenation turned off and if i turn hyphenation back on it doesn't add a hyphen to those words. i checked hidden characters and nothing unusual there. Text is in Yiddish, however i haven't had this issue with previous documents in Yiddish. See attached screenshot with highlighted words. Appreciate any help. Thanks 

Hello,I've ran into the broken link problem in Indesign (13.1). I have a single Word doc of a book linked into an ID file. The layout has been completed and all looks great. But ID says the link needs to be updated. I update the Word doc link and the entire layout is ruined.Embed Link and Link Options are greyed out in the Links panel. I tried previous suggestions:There are no locked layersA suggested script to delete parents deletes most of the doc contents.Track changes is offTrashed preferences, reinstalled.Saved to IDML, open, resave to ID fileI've done embedding with other ID files, deleted the original Word doc, and it worked fine.This is only a single linked Word doc. Is there a way to delete the link and move on? The layout is complete, all I need to do is clear the error.Thanks!

Anyone else having issues exporting pdf from InDesign 2025? It's so slow. What did not take any time in the 2024 version now takes several minutes... Not happy with the new versions!     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hola estoy usando Indesign 2025. El problema es que al exportar a pdf con la opción Adobe Pdf (imprimir) en el pdf creado no se ve la última línea en la primera página. Pero si se ve cuando se exporta con la opción Adobe Pdf (Interactivo). Me pueden decir cómo se puede solucionar este problema? Agradeceré sus comentarios. Saludos atentos, 

For the past couple of years, I have been working with the Barlow type family from Google Fonts for a client.   It has come to my attention that if the Google Fonts are not loaded and activated on a computer, and a document is opened in InDesign, instead of giving a warning and asking for the fonts to be activated, it goes ahead and activates the version of Barlow on Adobe Fonts.   Which would be okay, except it's mapping the weights differently. Bits of type that should be Barlow SemiBold becomes Barlow Regular. It is changed in the style sheets also. So unless someone remembers what each bit of type should look like, they would have no idea that the type style has been changed.   What it should look like with Google Fonts activated:   What it becomes. when Google Fonts not activated:   I understant that the two versions of fonts are structured differently: Google – Barlow SemiBold > Regular Adobe – Barlow > SemiBold   But if InDesign can't find

Ben nu al een tijd bezig om een maandkalender te maken waarbij de namen en leeftijden van mijn familie automatisch geplaatst kunnen worden.Ik heb een CSV document gemaakt met de indeling: Datum (waarop de naam afgebeeld moet worden), Naam, Geboortedatum en leeftijd.Nu wil ik door mijn document meerdere records plaatsen, maar ik kan de optie meerdere records niet selecteren. Dus krijg ik bij elk invulveld hetzelfde record.Terwijl als ik een nieuw document maak met 1 pagina dan lukt het wel. Het lijkt dus wel te liggen aan dat er meerdere pagina's zijn, maar dat zou toch moeten kunnen?Heeft iemand een tip of ervaring met het automatisch genereren en bijwerken van verjaardagen?Groeten Karin
