Questions

I have many individual cells from an Excel file linked in my InDesign document and I would like to relink them all to a different Excel file that has the exact same structure. Does anyone know of a good way to update which file is feeding the data while still keeping the links to specific cells in place?     <Title renamed by MOD>

"After opening InDesign, nothing appears except for the menu bar, and I can't click anywhere. I can't even close the application using the close button. It's as if the program behaves like an image. I am creating an Indesing document with various animations to Publish Online. I have drawn a percentage bar (in Indesign 18.5) which I then animate. When I export to Publish Online I see that the quality is very poor. Hey, I have a question about the text order of TOC. I want to add text from two text boxes, A & B, from one same page into TOC, and I have set different paragrah styles to each of them. After added the these two paragraph styles into the TOC style, with setting the paragraph style used in text box A as level 1 & that used in text box B as level 2, the TOC is generated out but with text from text box B shows above that from text box A. Is there anything I can do to make the text from text box A show ABOVE the text from text box B in TOC? Many thanks in advance.   <Title renamed by MOD>  

Hi all,We are trying to get an argument using applescript and following code gives us an error. The thing I should emphasize is, this error only occurs when our plugin is installed. (My company develops a InDesign plugin and this piece of code doesn't even interact with our scripting functions). I checked our script providers and all the related implementation. Couldn't find something that blocks AppleScript. Other applescript that we call through same mechanism, doesn't have this problem. Only this "item 1 of argument" part. I have placed one Illustrator graphic .ai, 10 times on a master page in an InDesign document. That master page is applied to twenty pages in the document. When I export that document as a PDF it ends up as an extremely large file.When I checked the Links window it shows that graphic 200 times. I have check in previous files with similar method and it only shows that graphic only the amount of times which apears on the master page.   Does anyone have an explanation for this. When trying to select a font, (and also happens in stroke menu) the dropdown menu flashes on and off and won't let me select it (sometimes when the font dopdown finally works it seems to have a life of its own ...)   <Title renamed by moderator>

Hello All, I am trying to create a new document using SDKLayoutHelper class function layoutHelper.CreateDocument but it is getting stuck at ProcessCommand, it just could not execute it.
Any idea why its not working, this same thing works perfectly on Windows OS   I am facing this issue on- Mac OSX 13.7- XCode 15.2- InDesign 2025 SDK   I even tried adding following 2 lines of code in one of the sample project from SDK sample but same issue there as wellSDKLayoutHelper layoutHelper;

Following a suggestion here on the forum, I opened the file on one of the stock Applescript scripts.In its heading, there was a prompt to visit an Adobe website to learn more about development, etc... The link is this: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/indesign/sdk.htmlBut it opens here: https://developer.adobe.com/indesign/ Never mind, though.If I click on "Get the SDK" or on "Console" or on anything else, I get asked to accept the Updated Terms, but the button is greyed out and I cannot proceed: This is the first time I visit this website.I have clicked on the blue link, read the terms, but then I cannot Accept.What am I missing?

J'ai un problème bizarre.Dans un de mes projets, un dégradé de couleur s'est transformé en noir. Quand je clique sur ce dégradé pour reconfigurer la couleur d'origine, In Design plante et se ferme immédiatement. Quand j'ouvre le panneau dégradé pour recréer le dégradé, idem. Hi, I've searched this forum and found how to get the text that is too close to the page number to wrap. It is not working for me and I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I set up my TOC style to have a right-aligned tab for the page numbers and then set the Right Indent to 0.0625 and Last Line Indent to -0.0625 and it looks exactly the same. I need the highlighted line to break so that it's not right next to the page number. Text frame width is 7 inches. What am I missing?       <Title renamed by MOD>

I was struggling with this for a while and could not find the answer anywhere online. It wasn't until I was gathing screenshots for this post that I discovered my answer. When you select your paragraph and adjust the leading, sometimes the bottom line will refuse to tighten up with the rest of the lines. The way to fix this is to simply select the following line after the paragraph when adjusting the leading to be tighter. Edit: Barb Binder has the more correct answer. Hi all.   I´m finding myself more and more needing to duplicate a page inbetween current and next page in InDesign. I can drag and drop, but is there a keyboard command or other way to do this quickly?   The best I have found is duplicate page (sends page to new last page). Please help!   Placing Word with lots of interactivity is not working, bookmarks, references clickability gets lost. Hyperlinks to external sources import ok and work as clickable when exported to pdf. Tried different docX, doc, rtf, with no luck, running latest InDesign.   Bookmarks import, but are no longer clickable > InDesign uses text anchors, not bookmarks as clickable links to text inside document. When I am working with indesign, some hot keys combinations just randomly stop working. I need to restart my computer to get it fixed. I need to close all my other software, and it take a lot of time to get back to work. How is this possible? Please fix this in the InDesign update because it costs me a lot of time. Another bug in an Adobe app which annoys the sh!t out of me.

I've been battling with inDesign's Numbering and Section Options. On my document, the page numbering goes 1, 2, 3, 4, then goes back to 1 and starts counting up again. I have no idea what caused this. To give you some background: I duplicated an InDesign doc I have to use as a template. This template had numbers on each page. I then began making changes to it, such as adding and deleting pages etc. Now, when it comes to sorting out the numbering for the entire document, I keep doing 'Start page numbering at 1', but it doesn't seem to override the numbers lower down the document. The same A-parent is assigned to all of my pages. I screenrecorded what's happening here: I've had this issue before but have never been able to solve it. I think previously I've done some sort of workaround like pasting the pages on a new document and starting again. Has anyone encountered this or know how to solve it?   I've already tried the following: Deleting and re-adding the page marker symbol fro

Por favor, preciso ajustar a superimposição de preto no Indesing. Quando visualizo as separações de cores e desativo o Ciano, Magenta e o Amarelo para verificar tudo que preciso em 100% preto, estou com problema para fundos de outras cores, ou seja a imagem do que está 100% preto está correta e quando desativo desaparece, porém fica um fundo branco no local do texto ou da imagem em 100% preto. O que faço para o fundo não mostrar issa imagem branca? Alguém poderia por gentileza me ajudar? Obrigada

Hello guys, I'm making a summary in InDesign and i had the GREAT idea to make it interactive :). So i did all the button with a normal / hover / click state for every chapter that i needed, and it works fine it goes to the right page etc. BUT if you move too fast (or not fast enough??) it lags and sticks to a state and doens't go back until you hover on it, or click again. (I'll leave an exemple of what i mean after)Is there any way to make it lighter maybe? Or maybe less laggy 😞   How is it normaly.   How it should work and look like when you hover one.   How it look likes when it lag :c Thanks in advance for everyone taking time to help ! PS : Also it lags when i open it in Adobe Acrobat Pro but not in my navigator so i'm confused now.

Hello,I have been experiencing a reoccurring problem when working on InDesign CC. whenever I export files into pdf it seems like the saturation has been changed in the pdf version, to be higher. It is not file dependent and seems to effect all work I export to pdf.Example: https://imgur.com/a/AiTpe5iI usually work with big, multi pages graphic files and even though exporting the pages as png/jpg does improve the quality a bit, it is not ideal.I have tried to change all of the relevant export settings but none seem to fix the problem at a high quality.  I have also tried all the different setting options under: colour setting>conversion options>intent. Difference was not noticeable. Mac OS Sonoma 14.5  InDesign v. 19.5   Hi,    When I have the Type Tool selected and click on a word, the cursor goes to the left of where I intended. Having Googled the issue, I see that the source of the problem may have to do with the direction of the text; however, neither in the character nor paragraph window does there seem to be an option to change the direction. Hi,I'm trying to work with InDesign scripting API with C# for my work. Bonjour,Depuis quelques temps j'ai un problème sur tous mes fichiers IN DESIGN. Dès que j'ouvre un fichier (alors que tous les liens et typos sont bien rassemblés dans le dossier, et les liens bien intégrés), j'ai toutes mes images qui grésillent et je suis obligée de toutes les rééditées pour qu'elles aparaissent correctement. Si je ne réintègre pas toutes les images il m'est impossible de faire un export PDF. Ce n'est pas dérangeant pour un flyer, mais quand il s'agit d'un catalogue 40 pages je ne peux pas perdre du temps à réintégrer chaque image... J'ai déjà essayé de désistaller et réinstaller le logiciel..Est ce que cela vous est déja arrivé et avez-vous des solutions svp ?  Merci d'avance

I keep receiving this message when selecting Data Source in InDesign: "The data source cannot be opened. Confirm that the file exists and that you have rights to open it, then choose the Select Data Source command again." I saved my excel file as a .csv file. What else needs to be done or isn't being done right?
