Greetings,I have a coworker on a Mac using InDesign v19.4 and they are getting the error below when running a script, but other coworkwers on Macs are able to run the script with no problem. I'm on a PC running InDesign v19.5 and the script runs fine for me as well. Any help getting it running on the one Mac would be much appreciated 🙂 Error Number: 1285Error String: A document must have at least one page.Line: 249Source: graphicTemplate.masterSpreads[0].pages.lastitem0.remove();  

Can a script convert a line to a shape?

Hello, I'm working in a 500+ page InDesign CC 2021 book document that keeps crashing ID when I'm trying to reveal the contents of an overset text box at the end of the doc. This file's history is that it was completely rebuilt from scratch with text and graphics pasted from a previous ID file I inherited from someone else that also had crashing/corruption issues—thus the reason for my rebuild. Now that I'm almost done rebuilding many hundreds of pages, I'm experiencing these problems again, but I don't know why, and if the issue is with the content I've had to paste in from the previous problem doc. But this is nerve-wracking, as we're fast approaching the book's deadline.  I'm working on a 2021 MacBook Pro with Big Sur, 11.2.3. InDesign 2021 is up to date, I've reset ID preferences several times, and I've restarted my computer. I'd super-appreciate any help!! Thank you so much in advance!

Hello there! I have a project with 20 pages. I want to change a few pages to have 3 or 4 columns, depending on the content. Some pages need text columns within the paragraphs, not across the whole page. I tried adding the text columns on separate pages using the page edit option, but it didn't work.I have the "primary text" turned ON because I imported the Word file to get the content on all the pages.In Design Sample Video

I have a file I need to postscript for our Navigator RIP and make color separated plates. I have the XitronRIP ppd but can't install it in Mac Sonoma as a physical printer. Where do I put the PPD so I can create a device dependent PS file?Thank you

I've noticed something weird with InDesign.Sometimes it loses the location of the previously saved document.When this happens, the path that it chooses seems to be random.An example would be if lets say I save a file called file001.indd in a folder called 100047.If I go back to that folder the next day and make a revision to the file, sometimes the file save location is not pointing at the folder 100047.  It seems to pick a random location.  So if I'm not paying close attenton, I may save my file thinking its' location will be in the same folder, however it will be pointing at the random folder location. This happens when saving or exporting out to PDF.This does not always happen, however it does happen on a regular basis.Does anyone know the cause of this?

How do I make text look less ragged and more aligned without turning on hyphenation?

Hallo zusammen - seit langem frage ich mich schon wie ich im Programm InDesign ein neues Dokument erstellen kann und zwar so dass man die Lineale nicht automatisch sieht. Weil das erste was ich tue ist dann immer "Command + R" um die Lineale auszublenden da ich diese zu 99% nicht verwende für alle meine Designs.Habe dazu Web durchsucht Suchmaschinen und Youtube aber nix gefunden.Hat voung wie man sich das ersparen kann????Danke für eure Hilfe schon mal im Voraus!! 

Hey guys,I have a strange issue with pdf transparency that I just cant wrap my head around, probably because im not really a print guy, but anyway here goes.Im trying to print some playing cards I have put together, the way I do it is that I have each individual card as separeate indesign file and then I link all these into another indesign file to put them on a grid (SRA3 size).Issue Im facing is with transparency - I have some layers in the cards themselves (see image no 1) that need transparency. It looks alright in the card indd. It looks alright when I export the card indd into card pdf. It looks alright when I link either the card indd or card pdf into the A3 grid indd.But then when I export the a3 grid indd as a final print pdf everytime I have these layers with transparency in those linked cards it makes holes into uderlying graphics (image 2) - uness I use X1a-2001 preset. And if i do that, I get issues with text quality when the page gets printed (theres some small 7.5pt text

Hello everyone - I have been wondering for a long time how I can create a new document in InDesign without automatically seeing the rulers. The first thing I always do is press "Command + R" to hide the rulers because I don't use them for 99% of my designs. I've searched the web, search engines, and YouTube but haven't found anything. Does anyone know how to avoid this step?Thanks in advance for your help!!

Hello,  I am working on a company product catalog that we more or less finished all the grafics for. Its quite a lot of custom designed pages (more than 70) with vector grafic, transitions and text. Now i need to add interactive elements like menu, buttons, logo selections and filtrations, videos hyperlinks etc.  I have seen a lot of people doing this in Indesign and need a way to convert the entire document to indesign. I probably dont need to be able to edit the grafic designs of the pages any more just to add the interactive things.  How can i do this ? Is there any effitient way ? Also i kinda need the ability to add new pages when i finish this document when new products arive, but that will probably be using a template of a diferent product to add a new one just swaping text and image. thanks.

Hi all, I'm trying to have a script which creates a 'document progression bar' on pages within a document, and the bars height gets larger as the reader goes down the pages. Scoured the internet, done my googling - there's a few solutions where people have written scripts which create a progress bar, however all seem to be an increase in width whereas I'm looking for height. The best one that I came across was from Arno Richter which creates everything from the styles and swatch, to drawing the bar from a user set position, width, and height. Hello! We have created our first working xml import from our JATS XML documents and have mapped all styles as needed... or so we tought. Now the volume is final, with several local modifications to improve the typesettings and we were asked to change the style of an inline element (citation_key). The good thing is, the tag is already in the text, the bad thing is we don't want to use again "Tag to Style" option, because it will destroy all the manual typesetting. The citation keys are several hundreds...Can I somehow select the tagged text to apply a character style? is a script my only option? Can I apply only one style and keep all the other safe/locked?

Can anyone help, please?I have a document with hyperlinks to text anchors. They all work when I export as an interactive PDF, but when I publish online they stop working.I also have some buttons which link to the same text anchors. The buttons work, it's just the hyperlinks that don't work.TIA

I have been working with a project in Indesign all day but the last few hours the copy/paste-function doesn´t work at all. I can´t copy text or pictures within the project or from Word. The copy/paste function seems gone. What has happened?     {Renamed by MOD}

Hey everybody, What is the origin of the term "pasteboard"? (Not as related to paper stock.) Does anyone have a picture of a pasteboard in pre-DTP days?

Able to share for review, but when trying to update after making changes.  Indesign gets stuck here and I have to force quit.  It never updates

Hi there, I'm a bit stuck and hoping someone can help. I've recently seen an Adobe Online presentation that has a few features I'm trying to implement and can't quite figure out how they did it. The presentation seems to be utilizing features from the in5 plugin, for example: fixed overlay elements, scrolling single page document, parralax backgrounds, etc etc. I've downloaded in5 and figured out how to use all these features, but can only export the presentation as html5. I have also learned how to host the html5 file on other hosting sites, such as tiinyhost.com, but the main issue is I need this to be in Adobe Publish Online. Long story short, my company's website has a presentation portal for clients, and it only supports embedding a link specifcally hosted by Adobe.  Can any of you have a look at this presentation and help me problem solve how they managed to get the in5 presentation to display correctly via Adobe Publish Online?  Example is attached.&nbsp

I applied bevel/emboss to an image, since then those effects multiply themselves and appear repeatedly across that image. I can get rid of them with "clear transformations" but they continue to reappear at random. The image is from iPhone 13 and I am using the latest ID vers. 19.5. See attached example. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm trying to use a process I've used for years. Now it doesn't work. I have an InDesign document with fields; I chose a data source, which seems to work, but I don't get a panel showing the Fields, so I can't drag data fields from the panel to frames on the page. I'm using InDesign 2024 on a MacBook Pro running Sonoma 14.3.1

Good afternoon.I need your help in finalizing the save script.There is a script that saves a folder with fonts, IDML and INDD documents to a separate folder using doc.package For Print.I need to make a ZIP archive from the folder it saves to. The main problem is that the working folders and files are not stored on the local machine, but on network storage.The folder is created new each time using a script.There is no way to assign a specific folder on the NAS to the app.packageUCF method, as it will cause a lot of confusion in the files (the script is used by several people for a large number of files). Maybe someone can tell me how to specify the path to the network folder to the app.packageUCF method?
