Good evening, I have a question regarding table management in inDesign.I'm laying out a job that involves a very long table with very long cells (with a lot of text inside them) I wanted to know if there is a way to start a cell at the end of a page and have it continue on the next page? (Sorry for the English but I don't know it well so I'm asking for help from a translator.)
there used to be a command in InDesgn that would break a box into multiple boxes as you drew the box. I cannot find it anymore. Does it still exist?
I need a script that will import each page from a multipage InDesign document into boxes I've created in a new document (with the option to include any bleed set in the multipage document or not). If I have 1000 pages in one document, I want to bring each page in to a new document to fill the 1000 boxes I've positioned. Then tell me if I've only created say 900 boxes on my new page, that the last 100 pages weren't imported.Right now, I have to do this manually, and it's gruellnig!
Does anyone have a recommendation for a single-page brand template I can purchase? There are so many out there; I just want to get one that's well-supported. Thanks!
Hello! I'm using Adobe InDesign 14.0 x64. For example, my document currently contains the text "Glaukom H40" (images attached). A paragraph format is stored for the text. This paragraph format is then used for the table of contents. The same text "Glaukom H40" appears in the table of contents.I would like to have the ICD code "H40" displayed separately after the text "Glaucoma" (e.g. with a character format) and NOT include it in the table of contents. One solution would be to provide two character formats, one character format for "Glaukom" and one character format for "H40". Unfortunately I cannot include character formats in the table of contents. This is only possible with paragraph formats. But - as far as i know - I can´t have two paragraph formats in one line. The only solution seems to be one line with the text "Glaukom" and another extra line with the code "H40", with H40 being pushed up and to the right of the line.Does anyone knows a better solution?
Our entire marketing department is having issues, possibly with Dropbox, possibly with InDesign, possibly with Windows File Explorer. In trying to troubleshoot, our manager was communicating with Dropbox support and they told her "InDesign files and programs are not supported with Dropbox" and closed the support ticket on her! Has anyone heard this before? I can't believe there aren't TONS of other creatives also using Adobe products and Dropbox without issue. I think the issue lies with Windows, but I was flabbergasted when I read the response from Dropbox support. Just wondering if anyone here has received the same message from Dropbox? (NOTE: I've asked this on Dropbox forums too, just covering my bases to see if anyone in the InDesign space has seen this too.)
I will say my company is on a controlled release of INDD and not 100% whatever is the latest in the cloud. I am on CC 2024 v 19.0.1. Interactive PDF Forms look/render fine when exporting out of Adobe InDesign, when opening and viewing in Adobe Acrobat. When that same PDF is then opened in the browser (Edge or Chrome) the form fields do not render. Not even the outlines of the checkboxes. I attached a very basic example. InDesign files I've managed over the years used to output input fields that worked in browsers, but If I open that same InDesign file now and export a PDF, those interactive fields will now break in browser. It seems it is easily fixable in Adobe Acrobat by opening the file, going to Prepare Form and changing basically anything in the properties. You can change one property on one form field, save, and it will fix the whole document. You can do this in the basic example attached. I've changed the Name of an input and various things in the Appearance, and
I have had this problem a few times recently and I'm not sure when the problem started. The scenario is that I am working in InDesign and my files are all within my Dropbox folder. What happens is: I work on an InDesign file and save it. Make some changes, save it etc etc. Send a PDF to the client and wait. Maybe a couple of hours later I come back to the file and when I open it in InDesign it is not the latest saved version. I know I saved it so I'm pulling my hair out! Now I've found that if I go to "document history" in Dropbox my last version will be there, with my name and 'desktop' written underneath. However, it will have been overwritten by my name but with "API app" written underneath it. I am currently in discussion with Dropbox who are suggesting that it could be due to a lack of support for InDesign documents (they get a UFO symbol instead of an icon). But this is seriously upsetting my working to the point that I think I may have to move all my files out of Dropbox.&nb
Hi Everyone, In our organization we use 'PanelTreeView.sdk' plugin to list down the scripts for production as centralized location for everyone like the first screenshot. DoubleClick-ing on the script name will invoke them to run in locally.Recent version InDesign 19.4 did not support this functionality and showing them as file paths., I even tried to build with the latest SDK version from developer console. But it is not fixed the issue. Please assist me on this to resolve the issue. Indesign version 19.4MACOS Sonoma 14.4.1 Thanks,SathishS
Is it possible to datamerge into indesign from excel but including the back ground colours of the fields. I have a set of data where the background colours are important to the dataset.
I can't seem to find a good answer to this — are templates, INDT files, in any way different from INDD except that InDesign forces the user to save the file as a new copy? A freshly saved INDD file (Save As and IDML->INDD) is somewhat smaller than its INDT equivalent. However, renaming an INDD to INDT makes the file behave exactly as a template (loads to an unititled doc). So, at a file/technical level, what is different about INDT files?
I'm having an issue where my captions are appearing above the images in my epub. They are grouped with the images and anchored in the main text. The issue goes away when I select "Based on Page Layout" for my content order, but I need it to be based on the Articles panel because of how I have it set up. I've worked with captions before and have never seen this behavior. Any help would be appreciated.
I want to only include the section outlined in red for PDF export, is there a way I can exclude the rest?I know nothing about ARC GIS and have been thrown in to assist with this project, thank you for any advise!
I'm using InDesign to make Fixed Layout ePubs. I just upgraded ePub Checker to v4.1.1 and now all my ePubs that had no errors before with v4.0.2 now generate an error. Here are screen shots of the v4.0.2 and v4.1.1 check results:The error returned is in toc.xhtml: Error while parsing file: element 'ol' incomplete; missing required element 'li'. Here's a screenshot of the toc.xhtml:The error is at line 9. There needs to be an entry between <ol> and </ol>. Leaving this empty is apparently no longer valid using the 4.1.1 ePub Checker library, but used to be OK with the 4.0.2 library. I contacted the developer of ePub Checker and he said:This comes from the underlaying validation engine of the official EPUBCheck library. There has been a minor update as you can see when having a look at the version numbers (4.1.1 vs. 4.0.2).Core developers made an update to the TOC schema with PR #763 (https://github.com/w3c/epubcheck/pull/763😞> fixes nav doc validation to be m
I currently have 3 versions of InDesign showing as installed on my computer, 17.4.2, 18.4 and the updated one 19.4. Do I need the older ones or can I uninstall them to free up space on my coputer?
Aloha all, I am wanting to export just the text from a 32-page children's book so the text can be translated. On every page, the (short) text is in a text box. Thus, there are 32+ isolated text boxes in the book. Is there any way to select all the text (existing in a text layer) and export it as a text file (.txt, PDF, Word)? Google bots tell me I can (on my Mac) select all with Command-A, but this only selects the text on one page, not the other 31 pages. Any help would be appreciated! Mahalo, Cat

How can I create this type of cell knowing that the number is at the top left and the letter is at the bottom right without any space? And how can I paste it into a table containing cells?I want both to belong to the same cell.
Hi I've pasted some old Indesign CS3 content into my ID 16.4 document, and I see these unfamiliar hidden characters at the beginning of paragraphs, and they're causing some issues with my usual typesetting processes. They look like uppercase "I" characters, and when I paste them into GREP search, they appear as "~I" If I search for them using GREP, Indesign crashes. Is there a way to remove these? ThanksRichard
So, on InDesign I created a this historical information document which includes many small images, some of which have links to websites (references). It is too large and I don't know what to do about it.My hope was that this document would be small enough to load quickly on an iPad but at the same time that the images would be high-quality enough that I would be able to zoom in and not get a very pixelated image.I converted most of the images from png to vector. This took my document from about 12 mb to 45 mb and there are still like 20 images I have not converted. After vectorizing the images, I made them very small, about 1.5 in, and I simplified and flattened their transparency. I don't know what else to do.When I export the file as a PDF and open it on my iPad, it takes forever to load. I have tried downsizing the PDF, that takes me from 45 to 42. Any suggestions?
I have placed various Word docs all created with endnotes, I have used every combination of importing and I still cannot get the endnotes to show in indesign. What the hell!? Saved the word doc out as every imaginable version, imported static text, not static text, end of story, end of document...Nothing What else do I need to look for?
How can I effectively collaborate with other designers and developers using Adobe Creative Cloud services?
I was given a template for a book 8.75 x 11.25. When I make a new master, the size shows up as 8.5.x.11. Do I need to adjust the master, or will the template do this. TIA.
Hello community, I'm having a problem with a keyboard shortcut on an InDesign file. When I write in a text frame, as soon as I press the "n" key, the attributes are removed (back to default layout).I've reset the preferences and there are no new shortcut sets. So I've used up all my options!Any ideas? Just to clarify, it's impossible to type an n, and the problem only applies to this file, not the others. Many thanks and have a nice day! Marie
