I've a tech background and simple user on and Lightroom Classic (win10 with 16 RAM)LR sometimes crashes but not every session or version. The Problem:after I added a RAW image library, I went through 800 images and added a star-based and color-based rating and processed a few images as leading protype or template for othe images. After closing Lightroom, it asked to back up (crashed before or hanged so many time so i ignored that most of the time) I tried to point it to a new catalog location but it got stuck in the process (again).after long night I open it, Lightroom shows me the new library but from of all the images it only shows only 5 with the rating and color marking.Additionally, after restarting LR, I am unable to mark images with a rating or color. LR seems to ignore the color markin AND rating and not display image according any filtering.EDIT: On the third restart of LR I can mark and see the filtering. but I REALY want to understand why it's happen. In a side note
Hi, whenever I use text in the library filter and the result kicks in, the first picture becomes unreadable (except for a very lowres preview). A restart of lightroom helps, even with the same filter applied (filters locked). But as soon as I type a different set of characters, it happens again with the newly filtered set, and LRC needs to restart to be able to view and work on the first photo.***** EDIT: it doesn't happen consistently, but occassionally. Even with the same text applied, sometimes the same picture can't be read, but entering different text and then the previous again can solve the problem too. But it is always the first top left. Hard to figure out what the problem might be.Windows 11 latest, LRC 14.5, CR17.5
In LRC, I have installed the plugins for Luminar Neo and Topaz Photo AI. There seem to be two ways to get to the plugins. One is File->Plugin Extras, the other is right clicking on the photo, the selecting "Edit In". Question- why does Luminar Neo show up in both menu options, but Topaz is missing in the Right Click/Edit-In menu?
Does anyone have a solution to this? I've been getting it sporadically for years when I use the Stamp tool, or in the case of this photo the Remove tool. It leaves this white ghost of what it has removed. In this photo I'm editing a Nikon RAW file using Generative AI, but it does it with the Stamp & Healing tools as well.
I am using Lightroom Classic version 14.5 when i reopen many photos they show that there is clipping (mainly blacks). I always remove all or most of the clipping when i originally edited them. Can anyone explain why this happens and how it cab be resolved.
Here is my situation:I have about 22,000 photos, but only about 7,500 are synced. However, cloud storage says my collection is fully synced. Any solves for this? Lightroom ClassicMacbook Air OS Monterey 12.7.6 Thanks!
Hi,For the first time I have about 30 images that have an exclamation point in a black circle. It is not the white exclam point that makes you point LR to the correct location of the file. The images say that the file is corrupt and can not be edited. They can not be opened in pictures or photoshop. Adobe support tried to make a new catalog and reimport from the location on the hard drive and that didn't work either. I saw online that someone said it could be fixed by opening the photos in a new file. I don't exactly see what that means as I don't see how to open LR images in a "new file". Has anyone experienced this and found a fix? Does anyone know how to keep this from happening again? I've never had this happen before. Images from the same session are fine. Not sure why only about 40 are affected. Also, on the day I imported them a couple weeks ago they were fine and I was able to edit and use them. Same card, same c
Bit of an odd one as I think most questions are around LrC using too much CPU and RAM 🙂I was doing an import today which does the following:Imports 671 photosApply PresetConvert to DNGBuild Smart PreviewsThis was from a CfExpress Card to a Samsung 980 NVME SSDI believe it copies the data first, and then does the preset/convert/previews after as that's what task manager seems to indicate.i.e. a lot of disk activity on the card + SSD, then not much but a lot more CPU.However, the CPU goes through this weird cycle of 100% CPU for a bit, and then nothing. The RAM usage does also not really increase that much considering I've just imported about 16 GB worth of data.I've posted a picture at the bottom of this post, but wondering if this is normal for LrC, or if something else may be a bottleneck for this?
I use Lightroom Classic on a Mac. I've used the same external hard drive for too long - about 3 years - and need to start using a new HD. How do I set up the new HD so that LRC saves my images as well as the catalog to the external HD? Thanks in advance for advice!
After years of using Lightroom Classic and processing over 12,000 images, an issue started happening yesterday where the yellows in images in the Library module keep shifting back and forth from vibrant to washed out. If I click on the image in the preview pane the vibrant colors toggle back on, but they almost immediately shift back to being washed out. It's making it very hard to work with images.
I am trying to back up my LRC on my MacBook Pro and LRC is saying that I don't have enough space on the internal SSD.I go to ~/Pictures/Lightroom/Backups and sort by date. Through late January 2025 these backup folders are just under 500 MB. But since April 2025 these folders are now almost 30 GB in size! So it's grown almost 60 times the amount of data? Obviously there have been LRC version updates between January and April of 2025. Did they change the format of these backups to include a lot more data?
This issue appears with the newest version of Lightroom Classic (14.5) and only on MacOS with Intel processor (x64 architecture). When a plug-in calls LrTasks.execute, no other calls to this function can be made until the first one has finished. Any subsequent calls appear to wait until the first one has finished. This is not only the case within a single plug-in. Instead, one plug-in can block another. Until version 14.4 multiple calls worked in parallel. On windows and on MacOS with Apple Silicon architecture it still works. @Rikk Flohr: Photography Could this behavior be related to the recetly fixed bug with LrTasks.execute on MacOS with x64 architecture that is described here?Plugin Crashes when a Plug-in uses LrTasks.execute
When entering a keyword for a file, and using a letter with an umlaut such as 'ý' Lightroom will turn it into two characters: 'y´'.It works perfectly with already stored words with an umlaut, such as 'skordýr', but will create erroneus new words.
Hi. I'm using LRC, latest version, on my PC. Trying to export 565 files in low rez to a folder on my hard drive. Only about 1/3 of the files export. I've tried it many times; same result. I've been using LRC for about 10 years, and have never had that problem before. Any suggestions? Is it trying to upload to the cloud and I don't have the space? I don't want it to go to the cloud.Thank you,Len Kaufman
Hello, I am wondering why I don't have the option to use the Shadows Tint slider under the Calibration tab? I also only have 2 options when choosing between color profiles - Color and Monochrome. I have a 2019 year MacBook Pro. Hope someone can help with this!
I haven't used Lightroom much, preferring to use another program to import, sort etc photographs. Can Lightroom use the folder names to create keywords? For example, if a file is the directory 2025/081725/zoo/green_heron , can Lightroom add those 4 terms automatically as keywords to the files in that folder? I have 25 years of photo files organized like this but not keyworded and am trying to find an easy solution to adding basic keywords.
I'm new to Lightroom, so bear with me. I have imported a folder of pictures. All the pictures showed up until I update that folder again. Now only the most recently added pictures show up when I click the folder. What's going on and how do I get LRC to show all the pictures in the folder.
The new version has finally fixed the color issues with the Sony A1 II, but this creates problems with presets purchased from creators or presets created by clicking on a preset, which will set the default profile to Adobe Standard V1 instead of V2. You have to modify each preset one by one and update it with the Adobe Standard V2 profile. However, this is not a problem if your preset is set to Adobe Colors by default, as no V2 profile has been created for it. I don't understand why Adobe decided to create an Adobe Standard V2 profile.
Hello,I’m using Lightroom Classic on Windows, and I’m encountering a persistent issue in the Develop module:When I select Masking and then choose the Point Color option to modify saturation, hue, or luminance, Lightroom Classic crashes immediately—without any error message—right when I use the Point Color dropper to sample a color. So far, I have tried the following troubleshooting steps, but none have resolved the crash: Lightroom is fully up to date.GPU acceleration disabled in Preferences → Performance.Reset preferences New catalog test, to rule out catalog corruption.Workaround attempts—like creating a different mask before Point Color—did not help (I don’t see any alternative mask options offered). This behavior mirrors a known issue where Lightroom crashes when using Point Color in the masking tool. Some users have shared a partial workaround, such as creating a “background mask” first and then adding another mask before using the dropper, but this doesn’t appl
I recently was on a trip and edited photos on my laptop and now that I am home I wanted to transfer them to my desktop. I have gone to Export as Catalog and when it is about finished I get a notice "Lightroom was not able to export catalog because of an unexpected failure". I have tried this a number of times with different external drives and even cables with no success. Can anyone explain to me what this is about and what I can do to save the work I have done?
MacBook Pro M1 internal SSD 1 TB 16 GB Ram Sequoia 15.5 . After an indefinite period of time, it can happen that the new photo is not displayed when scrolling on, but the previous photo is still displayed instead of the new photo. By scrolling back by 2 photos and scrolling forward again to the new photo, then the error is eliminated. What could be the reason for this error?
