Is the highlighter text tool available in v2020?In v2017, it was on the Edit panel (see screenshot), but I cannot seem to locate it in v2020. I use the highlighter to highlight text that I need to come back to as I need to find answers/clarify, where I need to insert a screenshot etc. I have looked in the Properties panel, but it is not obvious to me where it is. I feel like such a dummy not being able to locate it. It's probably right in front of my face, but I'm going crazy looking for it....
Hi, Everyone. In RH 2019, new UI, I may be misunderstanding what a Master Page is for. But I've created one, hoping to apply it to all topics and have each topic take on the layout specified in the Master Page. But when I apply the Master Page to a topic, nothing happens. Here's my Master Page (screenshot). Its main feature is a two-column layout in the body and the header: But, I apply it to an existing topic, and the topic does not change, at all (screenshot): Am I doing something wrong? Thank you!
Hello,I installed the RoboHelp free trial version from the Adobe website. When I open RoboHelp on my computer and click start free trial, I receive an error message- 'an error occured'Any tips would be appreciated.
Once again, this issue occurs ONLY when our help is displayed within our product's application in Chrome. We are using "reimagined" RH 2019 now. I upgraded my smaller help projects. This problem does not occur when help is displayed as "standalone" - only when help button is clicked in our software to launch help display. What I've seen is that this character - an A with a character above (don't know character's name) appears for every instance of "<p> </p>" with space between. When we've had a similar situation (dashes, curly quotes), we used Find/Replace - but I can't see how I would do that here. Here's an image of the character: For the example below, there was a <p> space </p> in paragraph before or after. Note also that this problem did not happen when we were using RH Classic 2019, when help was launched via the application. For the smaller projects, with fewer HTMs, I could almost fix it manually - but our main help projec
When trying to Find in Robohelp 2019 it goes straight to an xpj (code) page and finds my search. Then asks if I want to start from the begining. When I click OK it either keeps staying on the xpj page or starts searching the TOC. Under 'Look in' I have Current Project chosen. The searching of the TOC just started this morning. Find is very unpredictable and I need to use it but can't trust it at this point. Any ideas?
Can you prevent users from dragging topics from the TOC into another Help browser? I am using RH 2017, and would like to do this for security reasons. Thanks for any advice.
The software says I am running a project created in a later version than installed, and the project will not run properly until I upgrade. The "check for Updates" says the software is up to date. How do I get the Update/Upgrade when the product thinks it's up to date but the product gives messages the the project requires the latest version?
Hi all,I posted this issue a while ago, and I also offered the solution of populating the Screen tip of the image in the image's properties, however this is working for RH7, whereas for RH8 it does not matter what I enter in the Screen tip, it will still show the complete path of the image at the moment of creation of the PDF giving away some sensitive information. Not displaying the Screen tip specified in the image's properties is definitely a bug. Is there any remedy to that. Basically I do not need any Screen tip for my pictures. Best would be to not display anything, however it seems impossible for the time being. It does not matter if I generate the PDF directly as a layer in RH8 or I generate it from Word, the result is the same, and it is annoying.I hope there is a remedy to that.I use a Windows XP Pro 32 bit, and I installe all service packs from Adobe.Thank you,Bogdan
When I click on Microsoft HTML Help in the Output Presets menu, I don't see the menu that shows the General, Content, Layout, and Publish options, as shown below. I'm trying to see where my .chm file is located. What am I missing?
This might be a stupid question, but it's been bothering me for 3 days. When I start a new project from scratch every newly added topic has a 30px margin by default. There are no margin settings in 'body' nor anywhere in default.css. There's also nothing in html itself.I can reset it by adding the following:margin: -30pxbut that doesn't solve the puzzle. The generated output also shows this margin.Where is this setting coming from?
Hi,Can somebody please tell me what are the best practices to follow for renaming a project?I am using RoboHelp Classic 2019. What I have done is:1. rename the Robhelp project file using File>Rename2. Went to Project>Project Settings and changed the Project Title3. Went to Output>WebHelp and changed the name in Title Bar 4. Manually renamed the project folder from File Explorer - the usual right-clicking against the file and selecting rename and edit. What I see in the project folder are 2 versions of the .glo, .hhc, and .hhk files (both old and new names appear). Is this something to worry about? Will the developers face any problem while integrating if the Help Files' name does not match with the existing Help files available with the application? What I mean to say is we get to see the name of the Help in the address bar -XYZ Help (old name) . If there is a mismatch , eg, ABC Help (new name), will there be any kind of integration problem for the developers. We
Hello,I have recently converted a classic Robohelp 11 project into the latest release of Robohelp (20.2.29). Has anyone else experieced problems with the Search when generating a .chm file via Microsoft HTML Help output? The topics are in the correct order however the search never returns any results. When I generate WebHelp Output for the same project, the search works as expected.Thank you for your help!Beatrice

I do not have the microcontent option. I just updated to RoboHelp 2019.0.14. I ceated a new project and still do not have the microcontent option. Do I need to do something to get the microcontent option?
Following on from my post yesterday about snippets not upgrading properly, Peter was able to point me to creating an existing list, then inserting the snippet. This works wonderfully if the snippet is not number 1 in the list. However, in this scenario, I'm getting doubled up number 1. So, step 1 has number 1 and 2 sitting on top of each other , and then further down the list, I'm getting double ups for the next snippet. The general idea is:<ol><li>snippet 1- which contains steps 1-4</li><li>snippet 2 - which contains steps 5-8</li></ol> Snippet 1 is likely to always be steps 1-4However, snippet 2 might start at another number in another topic if that helps any. The snippets only have <li> tags in them - no <OL>s as I assume that will come from the topic. Is there something I can do to get this to work?
I am using Robohelp 2019 and am wondering if there is a default setting for Books in the TOC to automatically be opened when the manual is opened. Meaning that all the sub topics are displayed rather than the user needing to click the + to view them. Just curious.
I want to have a header with a linear gradient background with some text on the left and an image on the right. All of this works OK if applied on each topic individually. At some point I decided to use masterpages to store the header, since it should show up on each topic/page.It turned out that the gradient background disappears on Microsoft HTML Help (.chm) output if it's sourced from the masterpage. Responsive HTML5 output doesn't have that problem. Also when I replace gradient with solid color the background is again visible on .chm.Is there any trick that could fix this? Has anyone had a similar problem?
We're using Robohelp 2019 Classic and we have a lot of content that overlaps with other Word documents outside of Robohelp. This content also appears in various topics within our Robohelp project. Is it possible to link a Word document and use that content in snippets and variables so that that we can make changes to the source Word document and have it propagate throughout our Robohelp project?
Hi, I am currently working on a Robohelp file where I have to create a hyperlink in the topic to an MS word document. Can anyone please help. Thanks, Arunkumar
Hi all,I have a problem with the PDF output. I am using RH2020.1.54. In a file, I have a header h1 saying "100% gestapelte Balken". Apparently, the %-character causes that the PDF generation fails. Everything works fine and then the process stops at "Transforming into PDF pages" and does not come to an end. The output of this same file has worked without problems in previous RH2019 versions (new UI). Also, the output to HTML5 does work without any problems.I tried to write the % in the source code as &#37;, but Robohelp changes this code back to % when I switch between source view and editor. Is this a bug? Or is it no longer possible to use such characters in headers? To make things clear, I am not using any special characters in the file name or anything like this, its only an <h1>-tag. Any ideas are welcome! Thanks, Karin
Hello,Using 2019 Classic. On Responsive or Multiscreen output settings, SharePoint tab, if I attempt to choose (Browse) the SharePoint location, RH crashes. Anyone know how to fix/prevent crash? thanks very much!
I passed an RH 2019 Classic HTML project on to another writer, who edited it recently in the latest RH 2019. When she generated the CHM file, the TOC showed file names, including underscores, instead of topic titles for all but a few topics. Why would this happen?
I have a 2017 version RoboHelp project that uses a master page and css style sheet. When I first developed the project (about 9 years ago), the master page I used for topics had a yellow background colour (#ffffe5) and included an image in the page heading. I changed this to white (#ffffff) and removed the image about 5 years ago. So when editing topics in RoboHelp, I have the topics created prior to me amending the master page with a yellow background colour and the image, with the newer topics having a white background and no image. This doesn’t bother me, as when I publish to Responsive HTML5 in version 2017, I select the master page to be applied to all topics and it has applied the updated master page properties, generating all topics with a white background and no image. I upgraded my project to version 2020 and have found that when I generate the output, the system is not applying the current master file across all topics, even though I have specified this in the output opt
