We have many merged projects with links between child projects and are using the techniques outlined in Peter Grange's excellent article (Merged WebHelp and HTML5 Help). My question is, do the links between children (which rely on relative project positioning of the children) still work if you publish to RoboHelp Server? I haven't had the time to set up a test server and wanted to find out if anyone had already crossed this bridge...Best regards,-SWM-PS. I'm using RoboHelp 2017 and would also be using RoboHelp Server 10.
I'm using Robohelp 2015, version 12.0.0.306. I just installed it on a new laptop and have lost the ability to do any topic dragging and dropping, e.g., from the Project folder into the TOC. I'm pretty sure there's no setting required to enable this, but maybe I'm wrong.I've tried different workspace views, I deleted the CPD file and reopened the project, and no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Has anyone successfully implemented context sensitivity with content categories? Context sensitivity worked fine for us in the past, but now that we've changed to content categories and thus the folder structure has changed, I cannot get it to work. Previously, our code was calling the index_csh.htm in the root folder. However, now that file does not exist in the root folder and instead there a [ContentCategoryName]_csh.htm file in each of the content category folders. Advice?
Hi,I currently use Webhelp (RH11) and have 3 content categories, using conditional tags. We are considering moving to a responsive layout. It seems that content categories are available with this layout.I'm sure I'm not the only one - has anyone come up with a work-around to this? is it possible to create links to the other content categories (i.e., in my case, generate 4 different outputs, 1 so the user can choose the content, and then 3 of the original webhelp categories) and then "launch" that particular doc?
Does anyone happen to know where the TOCNodeUp.png is used in TOC navigation? Thanks! Lynn M.
I have an RH 2015 Responsive HTML 5 Release Notes project that lists changes from one product update to the next. Each topic is a cumulative list of changes within a functional area. A parenthetical notation of the update number that included the change follows the description of the change. The many topics look sort of like this: Control Number LookupChanged... (4.10.013)Menu LookupChanged... (4.10.019)MRB Tag Lookup Changed.. (4.10.022)Product Structure Lookup Changed... (4.10.018)Sales Quote Lookup Changed... (4.10.018)Shipment Lookup Changed... (4.10.024)Each topic continues to evolve over the 2-3-year product cycle. If users want to see everything that was changed in .024, they can Search for .024 and end up with a list of topics that they then have to open and scroll through. Can search results be filtered to display a list of only .024 changes? If not, do I need to generate multiple outputs -- or something -- so that users can choose the cumulative or an update-specific o
I've created an HTML5 output using RH 2017 (13.0.2.334). When I click on a book in the TOC, the book opens but another book also opens and the focus jumps to the other book. Here is a recording of what is happening:
In the Adobe RH 2017 sample Travel the Whirls project, there's a topic named, Context Senstive Help - How it's done. The Automated CSH Authoring section says the following:"In Adobe RoboHelp (2015 release), CSH can be created without any involvement from the Application Developer. In order to use this feature the application must have been developed using the C++ programming language. The process begins by clicking File > Context Sensitive Help > Open Application... From there the RoboHelp author chooses an EXE file created using C++. RoboHelp should open the application where you may establish the mappings."I have poked around the RH 2017 folders and I haven't yet found an .exe to test the CSH with. Am I missing something or was that deliberately not included in the Trial version for 2017? Thanks.
Hello All,We've been using robohelp forever and got a bit behind on upgrades. Just upgraded to RH 2017 from Robohelp version 9. Cannot find a way to upgrade our project to responsive. Seems we need to have an html5 project in order to migrate to responsive.Any advice on how to get our old project upgraded to responsive?Thank you!Mike
Hi there,For our project, we need to create a context help, not in the separate window but in the sidebar of the web app itself. The output generated by RoboHelp (Responsive HTML5) consists of HTML pages with <header>, <body>, some scripts, etc., while we need just the page body to render it in the sidebar. We also tried to generate the XML output, hoping to parse it somehow, but it doesn't differ from the HTML for some reason. There are NO .xml file and a bunch of .htm pages with headers and scripts.Any suggestions?
Hi all, I've recently started testing dropdown text in my project and I'm noticing that they don't seem to work as expected.I'm on RH 2015 (12.0.4.460) Up to date as of today.Tried the Tools > Update DHTML Effects option already. Here's the HTML code for reference:<h3><?rh-dropspot_start class="dropspot" dataid="POPUP487145713" href="javascript:TextPopup(this)" id="a1" ?>Add a New Group<?rh-dropspot_end ?></h3><?rh-droptext_start class="droptext" id="POPUP487145713" style="display: none;" ?><p>To create a new group, click the <span style="font-weight: bold;">New</span> icon. Select a dashlet from the available list and click <span style="font-weight: bold;">Add.</span></p><p>The new group will be added to the left-most column. </p><p><img src="dashboard_groups03.gif" alt="" style="border: none;" border="0" /></p><p>Change the group name by typing in the group name field.</p><
We recently switched from WebHelp to HTML5. Unfortunately, at some point during the switch, the context-sensitive setup broke. It appears that RoboHelp is no longer generating the cshdat_robohelp.htm or index_csh.htm files. Any idea why? What am I doing wrong?
The issue is that I am unable to generate Printed Documentation (i.e., RoboHelp will state, "Cannot find Microsoft Word on your system"). I can see this issue has occured in past, and I've done quite a bit of troubleshooting (i.e., looking at macro settings, virus checker, etc.) before hitting Adobe tech support. For starters, here is my setup:Windows 8.1Word 2013 32-bit (perpetual license, installed local hard drive)RoboHelp 11I've installed word before robohelp, and I've tried re-install everything using 64-bit version of word. Though when that didn't work, I reverted to using 32-bit version of word. Adobe tech support directed me to following page about registry settings. However, it is quite out-of-date, so I'm asking if anyone has more current information?http://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/kb/robohelp-cannot-find-word.htmlUsing that page as a guide, I tried deducing what string robohelp is looking for, though this doesn't work, and I *really* need some specific technical information r
I want to delete this folder.. but I can'tWhat Shall I do?
Alright, someone talk to me about content categories. I have a "Master" project with 30+ child merged projects. I have two content categories (e.g., "Base" and "Custom") and I'm trying to keep it basic, by showing one TOC for the "Base" content category and another TOC for the "Custom" content category. When I generate the master project's WebHelp, it looks like it's creating the index.htm file and then two folders: Base and Custom. Does that mean for every child merged project, I have to create two WebHelp outputs to publish to both of those folders? I tried that, but I cannot get the merged projects to display in the TOC. Help?
Hi, I need to create another Heading 1, which is identical to the existing Heading 1 style, but with a different background colour. I assumed this would be straight forward but I can't get the style to display correctly in the Responsive HTML 5 output. I have tried copying the existing Heading 1 style in the Styles editor in RoboHelp, and have also tried changing the formatting of the existing Heading 6 style, but when I create the output, the style is not applied correctly. I think I must be making a simple mistake... I have added the existing Heading 1 style below. Any advice would be appreciated.h1 { font-family:Arial, sans-serif; font-size:1.2em; font-weight:bold; min-height:1.2em; color:#ffffff; background-color:slategray; padding:0.5em 0em 0.5em 0.65em; margin:0.65em 0em 0.6em 0em;}
I'm trying to output a project into a CHM file using RoboHelp 8, and the resulting output completely lacks a Search tab. It's got a Contents tab, an Index tab, and that's it. (The project doesn't have a glossary, so the lack of glossary is no big surprise.) I searched through the forums, and the closest problems I saw were from people whose search tabs "didn't work." However, the fix in that situation (re-registering some DLL files), didn't work for me. I'm hoping someone out there has some insight into how to find a missing search tab. Thanks!
Hello, I am using RoboHelp HTML 11 for developing content sensitive help for a browser application. I am experiencing some trouble when expanding Table of Contents chapters (books) and I am not sure that this is the expected behaviour or if there is a particular setting in RoboHelp for this issue. I encountered the issue in Firefox and IE. I'll reproduce the steps using examples, to be more clear:1. Click the help button on a screen. The help window opens on the screen-related topic. The chapter the selected topic is part of is expanded. Let's call this chapter X. All the other chapters are collapsed.2. Collapse chapter X (important).3. Expand another chapter - Y. Chapter X also expands. And here is the issue: No matter what chapter I expand (without selecting a topic from it), the chapter which contains a selected topic also expands. To continue with my example:4. Select a topic from chapter Y and collapse both chapters.5. Expand a third chapter - Z. This time, Y also expands, because
Hi,I'm relatively new to RoboHelp so please excuse any ignorance on my part - i'm also not a web developer by trade, we are currently using RoboHelp 2017 to generate and display responsive HTML5 help pages - perfect. However I've now looked at integrating some of our training resources within this interface as well, I've played with using the HTML editor and successfully created and integrated interactive material quizzes etc.. which led me to Adobe Captivate. As such I've been using the captivate demo to produce HTML5 & SWF files which are easily imported and embedded into frames in RH - no issues. However the flash content does not run well in our flagship browser and our development teams are not willing to invest efforts into supporting it as "Adobe flash will be redundant by 2020". As such I've been using the pure HTML5 Captivate outputs and creating new topic pages for each captivate project, first efforts were unsuccessful however I quickly realised I was now calling f
Hi,I want to include an image to appear at the end of a hyperlink similar to a twisty. In RoboHelp 2015, I can click the Set Twisties button and use the Select Twisties Images dialog box to add an image. The image appears in the Character Preview box but not in the topic. Is what I want to do possible or am I stuck manually inserting images over and over again? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Good morning! I feel like I've asked this question before, but for the life of me I cannot find the answer. Anyway, I have one large Help file I use for our software. We are currently working on a new software version, so I would like to start a brand new Help file for this new version but I want the topics in my current file to be used in the new file. Does this make sense? Can I copy the contents from one file to another or do I need to import. Our software runs a chm file of Help. The help topics are created in HTML. First I generate in WebHelp and then generate WebHelp to CHM Converter. Running to a meeting but appreciate any comments. Thank you!
Hi, I'm using the RoboHelp 2017 trial version. I changed the icon in the Header for the Mobile App Settings layout customization. The icon I selected appears in the preview, but the default still shows up in the output. I assume that is not a bug. I just want to confirm that the output in the Trial version is preventing a customized icon from appearing.
Selected toolbar such as Contents, Index, Search, Glossary should generally be highlighted, so that it is helpful for the users to know where they are. Such highlights are clearly visible on Internet Explorer and Firefox but not on Chrome. A solution would be highly appreciated.
Hi,We have the following scenario. We have an online help/web help that is bundled with the software. There is a specific requirement to also provide a PDF/printed output of the same help content to users who prefer a PDF.The problem is that when the online help is saved as a printed document (either PDF or word) the document is not very user friendly. This is because it befits a web help more than a PDF. The page number is about 800+. The same ToC that is seen in the web help is converted to PDF.Is there a better way or idea to reorganize/generate a PDF of the same online help?
I have a project maintained in version control via SharePoint that I need to pull down into my now-updated RoboHelp 2017. I'll get all the way through setting up my local path and have the files pulled down. However, once I click the .xpj file, it acts like it's going to open and hits me with a "Server busy, switch to busy program to activate and close it."When you try to do so, though, it only brings up the start menu and doesn't actually take you to a program to close. Any time you click away, it brings you back. Eventually, I have to open Task Manager to kill RoboHelp.I did already try this registry fix on another computer (I have two and am receiving the same error on both): Msscci with RoboHelp – michal.Log No dice. I also tried these fixes on the chance they worked: Server Busy error when launching or using Lightroom on WindowsNo dice there, either. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled using fresh packages for RoboHelp and SQL Compact Server. Winmerge is up to date. I do not h
