Hello, I am receiving this error upon attempting to open a Substance Painter file. Both versions of Adobe Substance Painter both on my personal computer, and work computer are the same, to my knowledge. When searching for this exact error, I actuallt can't find anything about it anywhere.
I've been working on my mesh for a couple of days and everything worked fine. But now when I add a new layer and add a mask to it, the mask is extremely pixelated. This isn't a UV issue where the UV is too small, because the rest of the layers aren't pixelated. Any guess as to what the problem is? Thanks for the info/help! I'm using version 8.1.3On WindowsI don't know the steps to reproduce as it just happened.Expected result would be for the texture to not be pixelated.
I tried using a custom cage again today and noticed its still brokenThe preview window will show the custom cage properly but when you bake and have multiple texturesets it will give you a jumbled bake results .However when i tried importing the same meshes just excluding ones that were a second textureset and did the same for the custom cage file the baking worked properlyits a bug within the software that has been there for a while now
I've been exporting a lot of masks from painter for use in game engines (for decals, skin colors etc) and I've been noticing the exported mask files have hairline gaps along the seams. I can fix this manually by opening the black & white mask file in photoshop and doing color range selection on the white areas, then expanding the selecting by 2 pixels and filling with white. However there has to be a way to fix this coming out of painter right? Any tips to a setting I'm missing would be awesome thank you.
I've encountered a persistent bug in Substance Painter related to the Height channel at the seams of UV islands. When working with the Height channel, an annoying ridge becomes clearly visible between UV islands. This issue has been known for a long time, and many users have gotten used to it. However, can't this be fixed at the program level within Substance Painter so that it works correctly? I understand that in real-time rendering, padding between UV islands isn't applied due to performance costs. Nevertheless, it would be beneficial if this function could be enabled on individual layers or through some other method. It's 2025, and it's surprising that this problem still hasn't been addressed. I hope the development team can look into this issue and consider implementing a solution.

How can I reuse the texture I did? I forgot that if I separate them, there will be a lot of textures when I export it and I can't apply it properly to Maya. I'm quite a beginner in this software so I'm still not used to it. Hoping for kind responses, thank you! 🙂
A still from the short film 'Mortem,' by Florent Bizec and Frederic Colin. Time ticks inexorably along, and we’ve already crept past the end of November. But let’s say that the start of the holiday season gives us a little leeway on this; here the awesome news and content from Substance world, for the month of November. Featured Artist November’s featured artist is Adam Capone. Adam began working as a texture artist in 2005; today he is a Lead Environment Artist at Ubisoft Halifax. What’s the most important thing to keep in mind when creating a piece of artwork? Ultimately I believe it's asking yourself ‘Why?’ If you’re working on personal artwork for your portfolio, start by looking at what this new piece of artwork will bring that doesn't currently exist? For instance, this could initially be as simple as seeing that you only have mostly wood textures in your portfolio, and giving yourself the goal that the next asset will focus more on metals –
Why I try to make a mask based on a UV island by using polygon fill I'm getting these weird stretchy lines rather than a clean edge. Any ideas on how to fix?
Substance Painter V 10.1.1 Every time i remove micro height from curve or AO generator, Painter getting not responding
I am seeing these error:[Project] Das Speichern der Kopie unter "C:/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Substance 3D Painter/resources/samples/MeetMat_autosave_0.spp" ist fehlgeschlagen.[Plugin – autosave] Exception ProjectError: Failed to save copy file:///C:/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Substance 3D Painter/resources/samples/MeetMat_autosave_0.spp (qrc:/js/project.js line 36)
I recently updated substance painter for the first time in a long time and noticed the little preview of the mask is gone. In the old version you could see what the mask looked like in the layer window next to the material preview (as seen in the provided screenshot), is there a way to turn this on again or a setting I'm missing?
Hi, I'm new to Substance Painter and I'm watching this tutorial right now. At minute 2, a "generator filter" is added to the mask and then a "metal edge wear" is added to the generator. For me, the edges are not masked, but scratches appear on the object.Am I doing something wrong?
Hello. Let's start with some basic information:1. Substance 3D Painter 2022 (Steam) - Version 8.3.12. PC - Windows 103. I'll describe it further4. To prevent the computer from crashing I was working on textures for my projects as usual. I noticed that Height in my file gives a noticeable "ladder" - a transition between different values in the Height gradient, as if it were an 8-bit texture. For the sake of testing, I opened the default MeetMat sample and did not notice a problem with Height in this file. I started checking what could cause the "ladder" to appear and changed the scene settings. When I set the texture quality to 4096, Specular quality to "Ultra (256 spp)" and try to uncheck Bent Normal, the PC restarts. I have no idea why this sequence causes a restart. After the first crash, I opened the program again and tried to reproduce this situation, this happens exactly if "Specular quality" is equal to 256 spp and if the model has a drawn Height, and this di
Blenderdaki dosyamı substance programına aktarmak ve boyama yapmak istiyorum ancak sürekli bir hata alıyorum ( [Scene 3D] Failed to load 3D scene. No meshes in scene ) Ben dosyamı nasıl açabilirim. Bana yardımcı olabilecek biri varmı?
After importing and mesh map baking this FBX, the Ambient Occlusion mesh map has jagged edges on hard edges where there are no seams. The mesh is practically all rectangular boxes (a wooden shack made of planks). If I'm to eliminate all the jagged edges, should I be adding a seam to almost all of them? That seems excessive, as there'll be a lot more islands and the texel density will be lowered? The horizontal mesh across the door has no backface, so I haven't added seams to the long edge, only the corners.
Hello, I have this problem when I start painting on a layer, some kind of grid is displayed. It's definitely not the model, I checked other projects, they have the same problem. I also changed the display of shaders, it didn't help. What could be the problem?
Every time I use a modifier or assets that have an image input and then click on the "X" of the image to remove it, my Substance 3D Painter crashes and doesn't recover until I close the program. When I perform an integrity check on the files, it shows that there was an error validating 22 files. I've been experiencing this issue since yesterday (November 5, 2024).My Substance 3D Painter is installed via Steam, version 10.1.1 build 4060. I've already uninstalled it and even formatted my computer, but the issue persists.
In Painter: Exported version: Idk how to fix this?
my Steam copy of Substance Painter 2022 was working fine until yesterday (22/11/24), but sudently today it wont open and an error for 4 dll's appears that reads: ''Some features of Adobe Substance Painter 8.3.1 may not work because we can't confirm who published (DLL) that the app tried to load.''The DLLs giving the error are: usd.ms.dll, assimp.dll, OpenColorIO_2_1.dll and embree3.dll.I tried a bunch of troubleshooting including, re instaling the app, verifying the integrity of the files, sfc scan on the cmd but windows continues to block due to the lack of a digital signature in the dll's.Any ideas on how I can fix this?I believe Adobe should provide a patch with signed dll's to avoid false flags by windows in the future.
Hello! I have a problem with shaders. My whole 3D model has a main shader and it is pbr metal rough, but for one piece of model(glass) I want opacity. I chaged shader on pbr with alpha blending but other part of model became transparent, but not one that I want. How I can change shader only for one piece? Thank you in advance
Hello Adobe Substance Painter Team and Community,I'm writing to request a feature that would simplify workflows for many of us working on game assets. As someone who creates simple models for games, I often only need one single material with all texture details baked into a single map for my models. Right now, while Substance Painter does an amazing job generating multiple maps (e.g., Normal, Base Color, Roughness, etc.), there’s no straightforward way to export the flattened 2D view directly as it appears in the 2D Viewer. This is what I’m envisioning:The ability to export exactly what I see in the 2D Viewer: a flattened map that includes all materials, lighting, and effects—into one single texture. This feature would save so much time, as the current workaround involves taking the exported maps back into Blender, re-baking them under different lighting conditions that may not match Substance Painter’s perfect environment, or resorting to screenshots of the 2D Viewer, which is less than
Been testing out the new update to import ai file and I have come across an issue I'm trying to figure out. There are layers in my ai file that won't display above 512 resolution. The moment I try to change the resolution above 512 I get a grey image telling me image input is empty. Thoughts why it only works at 512x512?
