Before updating, when using "save for web" (jpgs.) the save dialogue would come up with the file name selected, not the extention. Currently it comes up with everything selected. This was helpful as I was pasting in the names. Is this something in preferences or? TIA

This will sound silly because I don't know what it's called
Recently upgraded to current ver. Used to be, i could roll over a selected character, and i'd get a little tooltip with alternate options for that character. This is no longer active after the upgrade and I don't even know where to begin to look for it, and it was super helpful.

This has been the correct answer from the beginning LOL Going to try some of those other things but it looks like I'll probably be doing these myself now. On a side note, I do a lot of copying and pasting from the sourse documents and i find converting these to word docs seems to retain tabular data better than a PDF. ( pasting to IND) Thanks for the help!

I use Indesign to create spec sheets, which end up as PDFs. The designer at our sister company uses Word for rebranding ( why, I have no idea) so they are converting my PDFs to word docs. There is some strangeness with the headers and footers coming out with a greyed-out appearance. These are objects in my IND master page and word is creating the headers and footers. Any fix? Does this make any sense?

This sounds like exacly what i need, but could you explain in more detail? ( A large chunk of my job is batch renaming large numbers of files with specific names ( part numbers ). I used to do this with a MAC Terminal script, but an OS update has broken it )

Thank you 🙂 BobLevine I am building multiple page spec sheets from a template in varying lengths that then need to be Data Merged, and then split back apart. Some of them were too long to add sections to reset the page numbering so my solution was to use static page numbers. * EDIT same with the page headers 😄

* This involves Character Animator, After Effects and Media Encoder. Please move, if necessary Working in my normal CH to AE to AME work flow, I had to make a small change in my CH project, which updated into my AE project, as it should, but when I render out of AME it comes out the way it was before the change... even after clearing the cache, restarting apps, etc, Im stumped! In CH: In After Effects: But then my final movie comes out like this: ( this is the previous arm position, which i moved to not obscure the text)

I was able to render a .MOV out of After Effects then use AME to encode it to MP4. Going to go with that for now and see what happens with future projects...

Rendering out of After Effects... Every attempt stops working at the same frame about halfway through. The Fan on the Macbook Pro cranks up and the estimated time just keeps going up. Not sure how to even begin troubleshooting this one. Rendered same comp this morning without any problems...

I am noticing some slowing down with the CH app- I am doing multiple videos using the same puppet setup, so to start a new project what i am doing is a Save As of my finished project, then deleting all the audio, scenes, etc, to maintain all my rigging and work on my puppet. Currently I am getting beach balls with every click in the UI. I was thinking maybe my methodology was increasing the file size of my project with each Save As, but Finder shows my project file at zero bytes. Any insights? TIA

I use the Save For Web (Legacy) function quite a bit for one of my job tasks- I've just noticed that when given the option to overwrite an existing file, it does not do it. I noticed this by accident, as I do this quite a bit and ill accidentaly export the wrong image, i will fix it and just click yes to overwrite. When I look at the file in its folder though, it will not have changed. Unless I am missing something?

I know Ive had a similar conversation with yall before, but having trouble with an effect- * Using CR/CT with illustrator elements Trying to use Distort >Ripple on a precomp layer, but once its nested with CR/CT, as i understand AE's processing order, the effect becomes over-rided. I know theres a way around this but having trouble figuring it out, thought Id throw it out here while i tinker with it. Thanks

My guess would be that the two objects are sharing the same position, but you say youve tried adjusting the coordinates, do you mean both objects at the same time or have you tried moving just the jpg away from the shape?
