Having the same issue. Trying Bill's solution. Works for one document. After I close, back to missing palettes. Turning off Show Start Workspace when No Documents are Open doesn't fix the issue. Instead of dragging into your doc, what happens when you right click on the asset in the library. Do you have a choice to Place linked or Place copy? Is the asset something you created and dragged into the Cloud Library or an asset on a drive that you placed in a doc and then added to you Cloud Library? Trying to replicate. ... View more

I think you just need to clear out the values on the Basic Graphic Frame (with no docs open) so that your not getting it applied when you paste into a new doc. Also, in your source doc, before you copy an element, you can go to Object Style / Break Link to Style to remove it's association with the Basic Graphic Frame. ... View more

My guess is that there is a stroke applied to [Basic Graphic Frame] in the receiving doc that isn't in the source doc. Not sure what you mean be "artwork moving". If you're talking about placed graphics repositioning, I'd find that odd. If you are talking about text reflowing, therefore "moving" I can see that happening. There are a lot of versions between CS6 & CC2018. Not sure how related this is, but this may help. We encountered an issue when using the Western version of Indesign to create layouts in Traditional Chinese. The letter spacing of the text was sometimes funky, especially with punctuation. One of my designers was able to find a doc on the below website that allowed him to copy/paste a paragraph of copy that then added Chinese:Traditional to the language preferences in the Character palette. If you're book will be saddle stitched, you don't need a spine, as a stapled book doesn't have one. Since it's a one sided cover, how you create the document depends on how the books are being reproduced. If the covers are run separately and being merged with the insides (either in production or post), you can just create an A4 landscape doc, with the back cover on the left and front cover on the right. These can be printed, then merged with the insides. If the covers are part of the insides, you're better off creating a 2 page A5 doc (facing or otherwise), with front cover / back cover as the 2 pages. Then, this PDF can be merged with the insides and the copier operator will designate what to print cover on / insides on. This is how my machine runs - I load coverstock in one tray and insides in another. Then through the driver, I specify how to run the book. The solution I've found to clear out (when a file has been through the .idml route and it still didn't clear) is to draw a box in the indesign file, fill it with the spot color. Copy the box & delete. Open Illustrator and paste into an empty file. Copy the box again and paste in pesky indesign file. Delete the box. Sometimes, presto, you can now delete the color. ...
