Hello,I send you a video of my problem.In this FM file the first line contains a variable, and the second line contains normal text.In this FM file, at the second line, I have applied a character style (“Essai style”), and then I tried to change the font for “Essai style”, but when I “update style” in “Essai style” it says me that I have an override.I would like to understand what is the cause of this override.

FrameMaker v17. I can't seem to get the Runaround properties that I need to stop a gap on the left side of the page. 

I discovered that the text on the third page of my document is overset (extending beyond/behind my footer). I searched online and found and tried a number of suggested fixes (such as verifying that the text frame is the correct size, and the master page has Autoconnect set in the Text Frame), but the issue persists. I'm obviously missing something. I could start from scratch, but would prefer to understand the cause so that I can better avoid it next time.I would attach the file, but each time I try to attach it I get a message saying the portal doesn’t accept that file type (even though it is .fm). 

I'm working on a document with many large tables that I want to automatically rotate to landscape orientation in my PDF output using master page maps. When I generate the PDF, I can see that my templates are being used, but only the left and right pages get applied- never the landscape page that I want.    I have a set of templates for this document and I've determined that ChapterOutputTpl.fm is the one that gets used for this table. In ChapterOutputTpl, I've added the landscape master page. I've also edited the structured and unstructured master page maps in the reference pages so that the table element (structured map) and table cell and body paragraph tags (unstructured map) use the landscape master page. I know that the right template file is used because I put a visible time stamp in it.   I'm generating the PDF through the Publish panel using "Save PDF via Book with components route" and "Apply Output Templates". Working on a project in unstructured Framemaker. The client has a TOC in each chapter that lists each paragraph, but then below that TOC is basically another TOC listing each table.  It's been done this way for years and the guy who set it up this way passed a while ago, unfortunately. The problem being, however they were set up gives "Unresolved Text Inset" errors everytime you open the book.  There are nearly 100 chapters in the book and the Unresolved Text Inset generates pages of errors everytime you try to update the book. The easiest thing to do is replace all the TOCs with MTOCs, but the manual owner says the separation of paragraph and tables needs to stay.  As far as I know, there is no way to sort/group a TOC by tag. The other issue is that even if I can sort the MTOC, can you put a header above each group that says "Paragraphs" and "Tables"?  If there is another way to do this easily, I'm all ears as well. TIA.

I am editing som FM documents that were created in - I believe - FM 4 or 5. There is a lot of equations and they look allright. But not ALL of them. Some look like this: It looks like there is a missing font with the "?Plus Symbol?"... I don't have a lot of experience using the equation editor but the font palette does not show any missing fonts. What might be the issue here?  

Hi,At the right of my FrameMaker window I have about 20 panels, separated by a few separator lines. I want to insert a new separator line in this panel area. Does anyone how to to do this?When I right-click somewhere in this area, there is nothing.I could edit the workspace file (rather experimental), but I would prefer to do this in the FrameMaker window.c:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\17\WorkSpaces\Structured\WYSIWYGView\xxx.fwsThere I have a *.fws and a *.cfws file, but I do not know the difference.Best regards, Winfried

I just updated to Frame's version 17.0.8.853 (the latest)..I'm outputting to Responsive HTML5.When I specify a term in search that returns instances of Heading1 and Heading2 that contain a comma, colon, pipe, those characters appear as their Hex equivalent. For example, the Heading1 paragraph style that reads "Log In | Change Password: Overview" on the page appears as "Log In | Change Password: Overview." Also related to Search, in some instances a result item includes the file name and its path. In this case, not only does the Header1 entry show Hex equivalents, that entry is followed by the containing file's name and path specification.  

I have xml files that I am opening in FrameMaker. My graphic element has a file attribute that imports the graphic. I would like to keep the file attribute visible in FrameMaker so I can see the path in the structure view. The file attribute doesn't appear in the structure view. Is there a Read/Write rule that will allow me to keep it on FrameMaker import?

I work for a large organization. We have been using Adobe FrameMaker to create numerous user guides (PDFs) for many years. These user guides need to be frequently updated. All user guides must be accessibility compliant. The PDFs that we create using Adobe FrameMaker are very large (hundreds of pages for each PDF). After creating a PDF, we run an accessibility check using Adobe Acrobat Pro. Some of the accessibility issues that are listed in the check require an enormous amount of time to manually resolve in the PDF. And every time we update a PDF, we must “start from scratch” to resolve the accessibility issues again. It seems that some of these issues should not be happening when the Adobe FrameMaker files are saved to PDF. We are currently using the Adobe FrameMaker 2022 version. If we are unable to resolve these issues, we might need to start considering other software options. Note: We have also tried different settings file options to publish the Adobe FrameMaker files

Trying to recover from a hard disk crash, I need to run FM2019 on new Windows 11 pc.I have a FM2019 installer, but when I run set-up.exe I get a blank window, and nothing happens.  I found a similar problem, Blank screen appears while installing RoboHelp and FrameMaker 2019but the setup files aren't downloadable. (Error 404: Asset not found).My error is a bit different too, I get the blank window at once, never get to the sign-in.

As it  state: the invoice history can only be accessed for the previous 3 years via Account. I need to access invoice history prior to this time period, I need 2019 and 2020 years. How could I contact Customer Support (human), or send a request? The robot in tne chat was not helpful. Thanks

Hi, I am relatively new to FrameMaker, although I have had limited use of it for the past 7 years, but mostley doing edits to documents that have been provided to me.  I have this week spent the last few days watching FrameMaker tutorials, mostly the ones by Barb Binder on YouTube, which has given me a much better unsderstanding of FrameMaker and how it works.I have now been given the task of creating a set of Technical Mauals that I need to build a template for and I need to use information about various pieces of equipment in different orders in each manual.For example I have FM documents which contain Technical Description informatrion for the following pieces of equipment: Airconditioning Unit, Battery Charger, Fire Extinguisher, Generator, Lighting System etc. In Tech Manual 1 I need to have the Airconditioning Unit & lighting SystemIn Tech Manual 2 I need to have the Airconditioning Unit, Fire Extingisher, Generator & Lighting SystemIn Tech Manual 3 I

I have a client using a FrameMaker 10 structured workflow. At the top of their XML is an <?xml-stylesheet> processing instruction with an href to a stylesheet. Does FrameMaker use this stylesheet when the XML file is opened in FrameMaker? There are no stylesheets referenced in the XMLApplication in the structapps.fm file.

When i opened the help system, the navigation panel looked good but the content page looked small. I went to the font settings and switched to Largest, BUT all the text on the screen became smaller, around 6pt. I switched to Larger, Medium, etc, the font was much smaller. How can i make the font bigger? I hate to read small text.Is this help system generated through FrameMaker? If yes, i am very very disappointed with FrameMaker.

I inherited a publishing workflow from a company that uses Framemaker. I started my own company (and hence no loner work at the place that uses Framemaker).  Since I knew I would be converting the workflow to InDesign, I saved a bunch of the files as MIFs. However, I didn't get them all saved as MIFs. Now I need to extract text from some of the FM files, but I don't own Framemaker. And I am on a mac, so I will never own Framemaker.So, my question is this: is there a way to somehow extract the text from these old FM files? I've tried making a PDF online, but FM is not one of the file formats that Adobe supports for online conversion. Is there maybe a way to open the files in a text editor and extract the text?Or perhaps is there a reasonably priced online service that will save them as MIFs for me?Thanks for your help.

I am using FM2020, structured with DITA.I am having what appears to be same error posted in an older post (https://community.adobe.com/t5/framemaker-discussions/has-anyone-seen-this-conditional-text-error-show-hide-setting-is-inconsistent/m-p/7842474), but the solution there does not work. I am guessing that the difference is that I am using structured DITA. The error message is:    maker: Error in <filename>.fm while updating UntitledBook13.book:    maker: Show/Hide setting for DITA-Comment is inconsistent.  It does not matter what ditamap I publish, i always get this error for DITA-Comment and DITA-Prolog for all files in the DITAMAP.I have reviewed all DITA files, and used the "import format " to make them consistent (as per the above the suggestion) and that did not fix the problem.I then used "import format" to all of the template files to ensure that they were consistent with each other, and that did not fix the problem.I then us

Hi,I have an index. The page numbers are right-aligned with a tab to the right side of the text frame.When the text extends too far to the page number area, I want to insert a line break.I can get the TextRange or the TextLoc of the single characters in the text.However, I do not know how to get the distance to the text frame border.I did not find any LocX property of the TextRange or the TextLoc.How can I tackle this? I am running the new updated version of FrameMaker and it seems it has stopped generating pdf hyperlinks on miniTOCs. Am I the only one to experience this?...  

I opened a structured fm file wrongly in unstructured mode and saved it. When I opened this fm file again in structured mode, the structure view has been blank. Does anyone no how to withdraw this?

We run an old application in a structured FM.  Now that we must switch to win 11 and frameMaker 2022, do we have to update the EDD and DTD files as well? or will it still be working with the old settings?Maybe a strange question, but I normally don't work in FrameMaker and I'm trying to get the app running in the new environnement. Hi, Immediately when trying to publish books or separate documents after updating to FM 17.0.5 all attemps crash with Internal error 17054. Have mif-washed and also tested on local machine. Working with structured FM. Any hints?  Best regards,Mats

I found an answer from last year related to lock files, which was... turn off the lock file feature in Preferences. While I can do this, there are some concerns about fallout. For example, one book has +200 files. The editor might touch 30 to 50 in any given month. If he were to leave one open (perhaps he minimized or otherwise failed to close it without noticing) and run a book-wide operation, I'm not sure what might happen. More vexing is this simple fact: it hasn't happened since an update problem some years back, but its happening again after the last two updates.  Does anyone have any theories about what might be setting off these behaviors for files? Is there some other solution besides turning off lock files altogether? Should I be poking Adobe's bug report system?
