I hate to be harsh, but what did you expect for 45 bucks?

Talk to the person who shot the video. Get the details on the precise type of file created when the video was shot. It could be Arriraw, in which case someone will have to convert the video, or you'll need to get the plugin.

This is easy. Make a new composition, and add the precomposition to it as many times as you want. The precompositions will now behave like a layer in the new composition. You can now move these layers backwards and forwards on the new composition's timeline. You will certainly need to make the new composition longer in duration. You can do this in the composition settings.

Um, sorry, but no. AE is NOT a video editing application, despite rumors to the contrary. Thus it doesn’t behave like a video editing application. The funcrioning you seek would in fact be disastrous in AE.

If that's an Illustrator file, check the size of your artboard, too.

But it won't be long before more outfits can do it. Green Screens? Don't need 'em! Motion Tracking? No huge use for it! Color Grading? Do it on the set! Adobe Software? No longer a must-have. Experiment with the lighting? Sure! Want a totally different scene? Wait a couple of minutes & we'll be ready.

Arial is a standard font on Windows machines. I'm pretty sure the same is true for Macs. I don't think you're going to have any problems.

No, it is not. That's the problem mixing old software with new operating systems. If you absolutely MUST run CS6, don't use a newer OS.

Anything you want to animate in AE needs to be on a separate layer in Illustrator. It's not mandatory to re-name the layers in Illustrator, but it REALLY helps cut down on the confsuion in AE, and it's dead simple to do in Illustrator.

Yes, there is extra time involved in scaling it down. But the amount of time should be negligible.

Well, since we know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about effects used, expressions used, footage used, 3D / 2D, lights, etc.... No, we have no clue what to tell you. It could very well be you're doing all you can.

Well, this is pretty easy. Open Adobe Media Encoder. There's a command to open an AE comp. Navigate to the project file, pick the right comp, and then use the YouTube compression preset. Hit the start button. AME takes care of it for you.

A couple of things: Are you rendering out in a quicktime codec that supports alpha channels? You find it in the Output Module settings' Format Options section. What happens when you import the file into Premiere Pro?

Actually, with a lot of normal-sized videos -- with effects applied to each -- scaled down and on the screen at once, your render time isn't all that outrageous. 6 minutes is a boatload of time in After Effects terms.

4:2:0, 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 are NOT color profiles. They are what is called Color Resolution or Color Sampling. Color sampling is determined by the video codec. To keep things simple for you, just use H.264 and you will be fine.

If you've got creative Cloud, you've got a good app for that: Audition. If you don't have CC, check out the freebie Audacity. No matter what you use, DO NOT make mp3's! AE does not do well with them.

That's the problem with new Adobe software. You instantly become part of the Adobe Unpaid Beta Tester Program. From time to time, you will see posts from Adobe staffers. Basically they say, "We're aware that many users are having problems with the new software. Please give us detailed information about your computer and all the software on it so we can come up with fixes." In my opinion, that's not the job of a User. That's the job of a BETA TESTER, which is something that Adobe chooses to ignore. You shouldn't have to guess at the necessary driver updates or use workarounds for poorly-coded software. But Adobe is of a different opinion -- they let YOU find the problems in their hastily-written code, and never mention anything about the problems incurred with incompatible driver software. So I always stay one version behind. When a new version comes out, I get the final update to the previous version. I figure Adobe has made all the bug fixes to it that it will ever make, so it ought to work reasonably well. And I have to tell you, I am not happy with some of the features that were eliminated from AE CC 2019.

"I want a tool that simply identifies movement in the video and rotoscopes it for you. I don't see why After Effects doesn't have such a tool." Well, that still exists only in the realm of magic.

I hope you kept your previous version of After Effects. It will work better than the current one. It will probably take a few bug fixes before it starts working as they promise.
