You can duplicate the text layer and use it as a track matte. This will let you one of two things: 1) The text disappears, and you can show the layer below the track matte only where the letters were before. 2) The text disappears, and there are holes in the layer below the track matte in the letters. If you want the track matte layer to move with the layer below it, just parent the track matte to the layer. I don't know if this is in the Japanese language version of the Adobe web site, but this is very helpful for a beginner: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/after-effects/tutorials.html

The trial period begins the moment the After Effects download ends and the software is properly installed. It lasts for seven calendar days after that. When you get to seven days and one second, the software stops working.

You can try using a difference key, but I can't guarantee success. It's an extremely picky keyer. Personally, I'd do everything I could to get the original green screen footage.

Unless you really enjoy being part of the Adobe Unpaid Beta Tester Program -- which is what you are right now -- just use the version you used before. Don't have the earlier version anymore? Well, you've just learned a hard lesson: you never, EVER replace your current Adobe software version with a brand-new Adobe software version. You keep two versions. Then you wait for someone else to go through the pain of finding all the bugs and workarounds. By the time the next new version comes out, the current new version -- if kept properly updated -- should be okay.

Well, that tutorial really sucks. No wonder you're confused. The guy just tells you WHAT he's doing and not WHY he's doing it. No useful narrative that actually reveals the thought behind the process so you can expand on this trick and apply it to other situations. There's a Christmas spot airing for Apple that company lawyers would argue is plausible. I say, "Yeah. Right" A family goes to visit recently-widowed Grandpa at Christmas time. On the trip there, Mom keeps sisters from bugging each other in the back seat by handing them an iPad. Once the family gets to Grandpa's, the girls root around in the family room, finding old video casettes of family events like Grandma & Grandpa's wedding. Younger sister says she misses Grandma. The pair soon barges into the living room to take a picture of Grandpa, Mom & Dad. Time passes. As gifts are exchanged, the girls have their gift for Grandpa on their iPad. They show him how to start the show. There's Grandma & Grandpa dancing at their wedding, Grandma at a picnic table, then the family picture the girls recently took, with Grandma and the girls positioned in it. Tears are shed by Grandpa. Everyone feels warm and fuzzy. So you have to believe that two girls aged about six and eight: Know how to run a VHS machine Have the necessary hardware with them to get a VHS signal into their iPad -- and know how Have the smarts to put together a 15-20 second video complete with still frames, text & masking The last one's the most plausible, but even that's a stretch. They may be good with twenty-teens devices, but '70's tech? Right.

Um, After Effects. Take the time to run a few basic tutorials to see how things work. This is NOT an intuitive application. Sorry, but I can't provide a link to the basic AE tutorials made by Adobe & real pros and not some clueless high school kid. The new Adobe web site pretty much sucks for user-friendliness.

Nope, I know of no way you can do that. While I've never tried it, I'm about 95% sure it isn't possible. It sounds like it's time for Plan B. It would also help to know what you're trying to accomplish. In detail. There may be a better way to do it than the way you think should be obbvious.

There's a good reason why you can't run AE 2020 under Win 8: it won't work with that OS. Look at the System Requirements: https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/system-requirements.html If you MUST use Win 8, you must also use an eariler version of After Effects. You will find that brand-new versions of Adobe software have many, many bugs in them. You may also find it handy to trash your preferences in situations like that, too. But first -- while everything is running properly -- SAVE your AE preferences in a separate file. You can do that, and when you have to trash them you can open the saved preference file. Boom! You're back in business.

I feel your pain. But as one who has been around the block a few times, you're probably aware of the standard responses: update your drivers, make sure you have the most current version, wave a dead chicken over your head under the light of the full moon, etc...... ...and as one who has been artound the block a few times, the most important one: never, EVER get rtid of the previous version until you're damn sure the new version is going to work. I'm just now getting around to working with CC 2019. I don't like it. They did away with features I used all the time in previous versions.

I always try to avoid having AE think about more than it needs to. That applies to the footage, too -- if it's highly-compressed, I'll transcode it to a good-quality codec; that way, AE has less thinking to do. This is a particularly good thing to do when messing around with time in some way, or really messing a lot with the piece of video.

Yup -- you found a solution FOR NOW and little else. There are a whole boatload of mp3 variants, some of which AE does not like, so you're MUCH better off just not using mp3's. Just use Audition to convert them to wav files and life gets better. I for one never, EVER use mp3's in AE. Too much grief.

AE only supports SOME Illustrator blend modes -- not all. Not very handy for your project, but yes -- you are indeed forced to replicate the look of some Illustrator blend modes in AE. Sorry.

Purchased templates are notoriously complex, so this is going to take a novice a lot of time. Start with the layer containing the background. Discover which one it is by toggling layers' visibility on and off. It's probably a nested comp. Right-click on it and select Open Composition. In this newly-opened composition, select the layer containing the background. Depending on the complexity of the template it will either be the background layer or another nested comp. Repeat the process until you find the background you want to delete and delete it.

Try using the AE Render Queue instead of Adobe Media Encoder. There have beeen many reports of problems using AME in CC2020. See if it helps.

I'm not talking about your output file dimensions, I'm talking about the horizontal & vertical dimensions of your COMPOSITION. What are they? They probably should match the dimensions of your output file.
