hi,recently this window pop up. Bc I had an project open and moved files in the Explorer.Won't it be nice if there the opportunity to replace the footage? like in Pr, with an path?

When I try to change a font on a text layer and search in the properties panel for a font starting with "Si", it gives me Unknow BIB error and I have to close it via task manager

When I try to change a font on a text layer, it gives me “After Effects warning: Unknow BIB Error: Probable invalid access, CT, 0 ( 83 :: 3 )”, specifically when I write only “si” in the properties panel. This is the first time that this problem has occurred. Prior to this problem happening, I downloaded 4 fonts from Adobe Fonts: ‘Cheddar Gothic’, ‘Six Hands’, ‘JohnDoe’, and ‘Papyrus’. As I went in After Effects and tried to change the font to an already existing text layer and started typing “si” (only with the letters si together) in the properties panel to select the ‘Six Hands’ font it gave me this error, for the first time. (I have a video of the problem) I tested a couple of things to see if it would be tied to that font, I deleted it, tried again and it did the same thing. The confusing part is, when I typed only “s” in the fonts properties panel, I scrolled down to the ‘Six Hands’ font, selected it and didn’t have a problem of using it in the project (I forgot to record this pa

Selection tool changes mask shape in stead of moving layer

There is a new behaviour after the latest update of After Effects v16.1.3 build 5, OSX Mojave.   When you have a mask on a layer, you have the "Toggle mask and shape path visibility" switched on, and you have the layer selected, you can't move the layer with the selection tool (V) anymore. Using the selection tool transforms the shape of the mask.   If I disable the toggle mask, or deselect the layer, or select multiple layers ... it works as it used to be. Any feedback would be helpful, Thank you,   Sam     This is annoying. Is this normal, and can this be set back to the way it worked before (just moving a layer)?

Tapered trim paths flickering

Hi all, I am experiencing weird flickering when I apply taper to smoothed (bezier) trim paths. They seem to work fine if I keep them linear, but smoothing the curves brings out random errors in the animation. Tried smoothing the anchor points in Illustrator before bringing them to AE, but the problem still shows.Even though this example curve comes from AI, the same issue can be recreated with simple curves created on a shape layer.Tried switching GPU/CPU rendering, no luck.Currently on Win 10, AE 22.6.0, but I was able to recreate the same issue on different versions of AE 2023 on a couple of different computers.Any ideas how to fix this?Thanks!

This error completely breaks projects. There seems to be no way to fix it whatsoever. Cannot be opened, cannot be imported into another project. Nothing. Windows 10, AMD 5950, 4070 GPU, all AE versions

Feature request - Trim Paths as a Text AnimatorOpen for Voting

Currently there is no way to animate trim paths on live text. A User needs to Convert to shapes or masks and go from there. Meaning that any edits to the text become laborious.Thos animation is a common one too, that I see a lot in titles and motion design.Adding a "strokes Trim Paths" text animator option would be a great way to implement this, once added you set the trim path speed. then use either the range, wobbly or expression selectors to animate. And honestly I don't know why its not part of AE already. as a text animator it would have great control as the selectors have great flexibility.C'mon Adobe.

This might be a long shot and I dont know if its technically possible to implement, but I think this would be a major improvement to after effects as a whole. I think the easiest way to explain it is looking at the dynamic link feature between premiere and AE, but from AE projects to AE projects.I would have plenty of usecases for this and I it would elevate professional workflows into new heights.Just like having your own library of functions in coding, that you can link in multiple scripts, updating or adding new logic to the source function which automatically integrates in the scripts where its linked to. In this case the function would be an After effects project that you can reuse and implement in other projects and automatically updates in all linked projects if theres changes to the master project.Reallife example: I have a beverage flatlabel that I wrap around a beverage can with UV Map. Two things that would make a huge difference:Bend / Twist deformersRight now extruded shapes are completely rigid. It would be really useful to have simple deformers like bend and twist so we could curve ribbons, banners, UI bars, arcs, etc. directly inside After Effects.These are very basic modifiers in most 3D tools, but in AE the only options are exporting to Cinema 4D, or using blender, using plugins, or building awkward workarounds with multiple layers.Boolean operations for 3D shapesboolean operations (subtract, intersect, union) for extruded shapes. For example: cutting holes in a 3D object , creating frames or cut-outs , combining shapes into more complex formsRight now there’s no way to do that in AE’s 3D system, which makes the modeling side of it very limited.Even basic tasks often require switching to another program, which breaks the workflow.deformers and boolean operations would make the system much more practical for everyday motion graphics work.

xtractor doesnt work with proxies

in after effects 2023I have a full res EXR Z depth frame, i set proxy to a low res sequence of the same exr format, XTractoR does not detect/use the sequence and displays the original still frame.I get the same behaviour with the cryptomatte plugin, so i cannot work with any of these passes using proxies. Is there a way around this?

The title says it all. Auto-save should function in the background and NOT pop up with an annoying progress bar every time it runs. Gets REALLY bad on large project files when auto-saves take up to a min every single time.Total workflow killer. Mercury Transit: No Alpha in Transmitted Video

When enabling Mercury Transit in After Effects, the sent Video Preview does not contain any Alpha Channel information even if the entire composition is empty. The transmitted video sends the composition overlayed over the previewed composition's background color.This is occuring on Windows, AE 25.3.0. I am checking Mercury Transit using the NDI for After Effects plugin, and monitoring both the NDI Studio Monitor and an NDI Source.Not sure if this is more a bug or a feature-request (having this be toggle-able would be great).

Using a Bounce Expression?

I animated a .png of an item falling, and rotating as it falls until it hits the floor. After the animation ended, I moved the CTI a few frames ahead and rotated it a bit to add a new keyframe, and moved the CTI again and rotated it again to make it seem more like a bounce when it hit the ground. I want to make the bounce seem a bit more natural. I spent some time online and I read about Expressions, and I copied some Bounce Expression that I found, and I want to paste it so I press alt and clicked on the Stopwatch for Rotation to paste the Expression since this is the last thing that I added to the animation. The Expression editor opens withtransform.rotationWhen I paste the following Bounce Expression after this it just gives me an error. “This project contans an expression error: error 1 of 1. How to detect what color theme AE is using via script?

I am developing a script for After Effects that launches a small window and lets the user generate various compositions. I want to include a small image of a company logo on the window: One version that works with a light color theme and a different version that works with After Effects’ dark color themes. However, what ExtendScript code can I use to detect the currently active theme (e.g. ‘light’, ‘dark’ or ‘darkest’?)I’ve scoured forums and Github for answers but I’ve not found anything yet that works.

I am an AE plugin developer. With this new MacOS update to Tahoe (or maybe it's the upgrade to AE2026) my customers aren't able to load my plugins via Mediacore, it only works in the Plug-ins folder.Does anyone know how to solve this?

Hi use creative cloud desktop to do a free trial on adobe after effect and I want to cancel the plan but when I go to my account it doesn't show so I don't know what to do. I tried to contact adobe but I don't know how and everytime I search for their contact I get a link to a virtual assistance. I didn't use my card to do the free trial so was wondering when the free trial is done will i not get charge due to me not using my card? Pls help thank you

UI lag in After Effects

Hello. Recently Ive encountered a serious issue with the After Effects interface. It becomes extremely laggy after any click or action. The problem appears randomly - sometimes the program opens and works fine, but most of the time it freezes constantly.Interestingly, if I move the program window to my second monitor, the issue disappears completely.I’ve already tried the following:Updated and rolled back GPU drivers (twice),Reinstalled After Effects,Removed all third-party plugins,Changed monitor refresh rateSometimes the issue temporarily goes away if I switch between fullscreen and windowed mode, but it always comes back eventually.

Ich bekomme jedes mal wieder eine Fehlermeldung, dass das Programm "beschädigt" sei. Ich habe es schon mehrmals (de-)installiert und auch verschiedene Versionen schon ausprobiert. The program does not start, error window

I was working 30 minutes ago, everything was ok. I tried to log in to continue working, but I got this window (screenshot). I tried reinstalling with saved settings, but it didn't help.I also tried this instruction - https://community.adobe.com/questions-529/after-effects-can-t-continue-an-unexpected-error-has-occurred-and-after-effects-will-now-shutdown-56063.This also didn't solve the problem. All folders have the appropriate permissions.This is annoying because I didn't change anything in the files or settings. All I did was open another guy's project, then close it without saving. That was the last successful launch of AE.I also installed a few fonts from Envato.What could have damaged AE?Latest version of AE installed. And latest version of MacOS. Macbook Pro M1.
