After Effects

There's a gap of variable size when the end meets the beginning. I can't get the speed just right. See the transition halfway through this video:https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JEx4mJbBMek A simple setup. A 3D space, with a wall and a few characters in front. I'm moving the camera from left to right, slowing down at each character. Pre-comose the whole thing, then putting one copy next to the other.I'm fairly amateur at AE and I'm grateful for any help. 

This might be a bit obscure, but for anyone using aerender for command line rendering  ( AE 25.2.2 on Mac OS 15.5 ) In certain cases, if a comp includes a footage layer (so far witnessed with mp4, but perhaps other kinds of footage have the same issue), although the comp can be rendered fine from the render queue, it fails when using aerender in the command line.  No error message is reported, or "layer has no source" is reported.  However, if I turn on the -v ERRORS_AND_PROGRESS flag, the render completes normally. Seems like a bug DB

Is there a way to make a composition to go to a random frame and stop. I want to have a grid of these random compositions in a larger main composition and each one will be stopped on a random frame. I'm going to place earch random composition into the grid manually, so there's no expression needed there. The random composition doesn't need to find out how many frames it has either if that makes it more complex, I'm fine entering that into the expression manually.  This has to be easy but I'm not good at writing expressions and all of the expressions I've found stop or go to a random frame but not both and trying to combine them hasn't worked for me. 

After Effects of Media Encoder is now rendering my files to .aep.AME suffix on the file name.  It happened after I installed the latest version.  How do I change it back and why did it change.

I'd like to achieve a water surface effect similar to that one. Can anyone guide me?

Hola, estos ultimo días he notado que after effects se bloquea con cada que paso del programa a otra aplicación, ya sea el explorador de windows o el buscador de internet, he tenido que devolverme la versión 2020 para no tener problemas de rendimeinto y me parece muy raro por que mi pc tiene buenos componentes, Ryzen 9 5950x, 64 gb de ram, 2 tarjetas graficas rtx 2060 super.  en ocaciones la pantalla de previsualización se queda en negro y en otras ocaciones reinicia el pc, y solo me ocurre con la versión 2024, ya intente cambio de drivers, reistalando el programa, cerrando otras aplicaciones, pero en definitiva no se porque el rendimiento de after 2024 es menor en mi pc que la versión 2020. alguien podria ayudarme a solucionar ese problema? 

Hello, I am trying to make a 3D model spin in After Effects. I was successful with the first model, however, there's a particular body type that doesn't seem to like spinning. I can't tell if the parts are clipping into one another or if there's something else going on, however I have tried fixing it by turning off shadows and lights but that doesn't seem to be the case. 

I am trying to export my video in 1500 x 1080 using a 20 frame rate but it will not let me export it in 20 due to a "settings mismatch." It says it will do this due to "format constraints" but it will not tell me what needs to change. Can someone help me? 

I need to change the setting of my jpeg sequence in after efects and so when I go to the interpret footage dropdown, the save option is not seen on my device. even after many attempts to scroll,zoom out change the size I cant access the bottom part of the dropdown. Ive attacthed my viewport image, pls see it and rectify the issue asap. Thank you 

For several months now, AfterEffects has made my whole Macbook crash. It freezes the IOS system and then restarts). I work daily with this program, which shuts down every hour or two. Lately, it even corrupts the current AE files I'm working with after crashing. –> "After Effects error: file is damaged ( 33 :: 7)"I deleted the app and all caches and reinstalled AfterEffects without success.I also updated the latest IOS and AE versions several times, but the problem continued.Any hints on what to do and or how to fix it?Eternal thanks for any help!!

Hello.Currently running into a very frustrating issue where after effects v25.2.2 makes the whole comp viewport (not just the comp itself but also it's background) much darker when I have HDR enabled on windows and I have any colorspace selected (like srgb, rec709 etc, on a 32bit project). If I have colorspace selected to "none" it looks as expected.I'm not able to take a screenshot as windows snipping tool makes the image blow out when capturing so I had to take some photos of my monitor with my phone.On the photos you can see that with colorspace "none" the comp looks as expected, but when switched to any other colorspace (srgb in this particular photo) the comp and the comp background turns significantly darker.I have tried to updated After effects, reset preferences, dissable all plugins, re-install after effects, update nvidia drivers, revert back to much older drivers, update windows, but nothing is solving this issue.I'll also add that this issue is not occuring on the after eff

While checking the Boolean-search behaviour described in the official manual I ran into what looks like either a regression or an outdated piece of documentation. Here is what I’m seeing:1 · Steps to reproduceOpen the Effects & Presets panel.Type Change → the panel correctly returns the two effects Change Color and Change to Color.Without clearing the field, change the query to Change,Color (comma-separated).Same result if you add a space after the comma: Change, Color.2 · Expected result (per manual)According to “Search and find items” in the AE help, a comma should be treated as an OR operator in all three panels (Project, Timeline, Effects & Presets). Therefore I expect to see any effect whose name contains Change or Color.3 · Actual resultThe list goes completely empty — as if the panel is looking for the literal substring change, (including the comma) rather than splitting the query into two tokens and applying OR logic.In contrast, the same query works in the Project pane

New Project -> New Comp -> Text Layer with sample text with numbersAdd a text animator (scale) -> change scale valuesAdd Expression Selector and replace expression with:text.sourceText.charAt(textIndex - 1).match(/[0-9]/) ? 100 : 0This expression will change the scale of all numbers found in the text. Anything in the regex match can be there.. this is just an example. This should work as intended and it does. If the font has ligatures and is checked, it will not work correctly. Tested this in AE 24.6.6 and 25.2.2 and is still not working as intended. The sample font I had used is Daniels Signature - Signature. Also tested with HopelessRomanticSociety - Regular. Both seem to show the same incorrect behavior. I'm not sure if it's incorrectly calling the indices or if there's something extra that needs to be called for it to work with ligatures enabled. Any ideas or is this a bug?

Hello,I am writing to the Adobe Community as I am desperately looking for free footage of gps tracking :Description of the footage : "On his screen, you can see a red dot moving on a map (fully digital or basic satellite view of a field/country area) where other red dots are moving more slowly".The project is a short movie that I am working on and we would really love to have some materials (the footage) to strengthen the somewhat futuristic/technology-based dimension of the movie.The context is a mad scientist that has marked/GPS tracked a dog, and this shot of the gps tracker would serve follow the dog as he escapes into the fields (while being GPS marked).As 100 % of our very limited budget has been used, we are looking for free option with of course a huge thanks and credits gratification were you to help us find / created / obtain such footage.Thank you so much in advance.May the Adobe community be blessed.

 

After Effects Crash whenever I save any project files, stuck on "generate recovery project" bar Hi l'm on the latest version of after effects, this has been occuring since yesterday. Whenever open a project file that was not created today & attempt to save it, it pops up with "generate recovery project" bar. Same issue happened yesterday & I've tried using an older version of after effects & it's still happening.Thanks for the help!

Hello,  I am having troubles with saber, whenever I try to use it for text there is a hard line on the edge. Not sure if I am missing something. I just bought Element 3D, followed a couple of tutorials and I cannot make it work because of the harsh lines I always get around texts. I have tried pre-composing, and creating layer masks from text and still the same. I am trying to achieve what is on the image with the Motion text. HELP!!! Thank you K

Hi allJust started After Effects, which I havent done for a few weeks. In opeing a project I get a window saying no colour space is assigned and there is an issue with Camera Raw. After setting to Rec709 the project opens. I can make changes but when I go to render, the program freezes on the project queue screen and then wont do anything until I try to shut it down and it then crashes. Not had this before and I have projects that need rendering out. Any ideas?ThanksSteve

AE's Range Selector's exceptional features has also let to a lot of confusion for some users. There are lots of tutorials but most still have gaps on how it works and why it does what it does. I'm hopeful this video rundown and the accompanying Logic Table will help lessen/remove the confusion.The video uses Responsive Features (Expression-driven) to create a visualization of the Range Selector and the different Shapes and built-in Eases (Ease High/Ease Low).Post your Qs below if you have any and I'll do my best to answer them.

I have a simple video in which three images should slowly move from the right to the left, without any transition nor complicate elements (the most complicated thing is the opacity that goes to 0%). However, when I render the video, the images move in a choppy way, it's not smooth. I'm rendering with the default preferences (see image below), I have the latest version both on After Effects (16.0.1) and on my Mac (see image below). Does somebody have a solution?

I am trying to import a psd file into after effects and it is not coming at the right size. The psd file is exported from illustrator then imported into ae. In illustrator, the image is 1366 x 768, which I've saved as an ai file and exported as a psd file. When I import the ai file it comes in at the expected 1366 x 768 but when I import the psd file, it comes in at 2849 x 1065. Does anyone know why this is and what I need to do to make sure it comes in at the artboard size?

Great that HDR monitoring is working now but it isn'tTesting HDMI 2.0 card versionm of Decklink 4K Extreme 12G and it refuses to output 2160P correctlyeverything else is OK but colourspace will not work at 60p Have manually switched everything with AJA Hi512G and none of it is correct.Always greenOne to double check

I have a grid of images 960x720 in a grid in my 16K comp (15360x6480) I have block dissolve set to 960x720But it is not matching the 960 widththere are 16 across which is an even number but it is the width that is inaccurate see attached?Is it broken? Did it ever work correctly? I am sure I used to use it accurately( plus the standard moan...STOP FORCING ME TO TAG AND STOP LIMITING THE SUBJECT LENGTH NOW COME ON!!!! )Tris
