After Effects

If I'm exporting a video for broadcast that will also eventually end up on Youtube do I need to deliver 2 versions of the video with different color settings? As far as I can tell, exports with the Working Color Space set to sRGB look correct on Youtube but Rec 709 looks washed out. BUT broadcast television apparently still looks best with the Rec 709 color settings.  For those of you who do deliver for broadcast and web, do you deliver 2 versions?

 i want animate those wing to flapping. i have an idea to use puppet pin and parent to the null and it will be working in 3d preview. but it won't work i assume because the puppet pin position doesn't have the z axis to follow the 3d null. is there any tips to add the z axis? or is there any ways to animate those wings? thankss

Hej there, I hope someone can help me with this. I attached the project file, so you might lokk for yourselves. I am in the process of creating a lower third template for a client of mine. I'm working in AE, but ultimately want to export the template as a mogrt File to use in Premiere. So, the requirement was to have a dynamic lower third with a particular background shape (rounded rectangle, but one corner to remain 90° – I worked around that by using two shapes and masking) that grows and shrinks with the amount of text that lies on top. I split the text into two layers (Name and Title), so that they can have different fonts and colors when I export them as a mogrt File. With a handful of expressions I got 95% of the way and I think it works, but I can't fix a last issue: When the lower text layer "Title" consists of more than one line, it expands upwards and collides with / runs behind the upper "Name" layer AND simultaneously pushes the lower edge of the ba

Imported a vector file from Adobe Illustrator and One object came in with a neagtive starting time and ending at zero time. Is there any way to fix or avoid this issue?I have been unable to adjust the start and end times for this one object. I have attached a snapshot of the issue. I am using After Affects version 25.2.2 (Build 2)Any insite would be helpful. 

My After Effects product looks weird and broken. The render time and shape layer property looks corrupted. Timeline, scripts, expressions, effects, presets were destroyed through the UX program control panel. Screenshot attached. Looks more like someone's joke. Does anyone know how to fix this error?

I want to modify from a script a property of a filter that points to a layer.This type of property has two values:1) The layer name2) the choice between "Source" - "Masks" - "Effects and Masks"To modify the 1st property I do: property("Layer").setValue(index), and it works 🙂but how to change the 2nd one ?

I am newer to expressions, and having a difficult time getting one shape layer to left align to another.  I found this tutorial that how to have shapes automatically change based on the text typed over them.  In my project, I will have two shapes stacked on top of each other, each with their own text inside them. Due to the text, each shape will be a different width from the other.  I would like to get the two shape layers to automatically left align with each other (or the shape on top to align with the shape on the bottom - whatever is easier) no matter how wide the text is. Does anyone happen to know how to do that?

Yeah, I have a sub, way more ram than needed, and that little piece of junk can't ever work, been years, been many computers, never got it to work, it's to the point that I put an image on an empty timeline, and that junk complains he can't get his 20 gigs to display that image, I have 64 gigs of ram, and 12/16/24 gigs of vram (none of my computers can take after effects). So if anyone has a good way to find an older version of after effects, please, I BEG YOU, I need it

Is it possible to export an XML from After Effects? The rights team where I work needs these for asset reporting. A list of the assets isn't good enough since they need the data for how long each asset is used and in what order. If exporting an XML from AE isn't possible is there anything equivalent to it that I could use to get the rights team what they need? Thanks!

HI, I'm interested in using the puppet tool in a video, with moving objects.The object moves (the cat), therefore I commanded the puppet tool pins (which are linked to null objects) to tracking the cat's mouth.The problem is that as soon as the camera moves a little, the whole mouth goes wrong.The question is simple - how can I use the puppet tool in a moving object in a video without it ruining the effect? Thanks in advance

I've spent nearly 3 hours working on it last week and now its all gone! I am kinda new to this animating and I have a really cool picture of a girl that is sitting down in a chair but I want her eyes to blink and maybe even her hair to move..which one of the apps would be best to create this motion graphic effect? I like characters or objects to move in a photo to give it a more realistic effect.

Hi, Prior to setting up Parallels I installed AE on Mac Ventura. All is well. I installed AE on Windows 10. All is well. Those are my two devices. Then I set up Parallels on Mac (same Mac mentioned above) and am running Windows 10 via Parallels. When I try to run AE on Windows via Parallels I get this message: "You've reached your device activation limit. Sign out of one of the devices." It lists devices as This device - not activated Desktop-RLXXXX - last launched 2 hours ago iMac - last launched hour ago I guess Windows when running via Parallels on Mac presents itself as yet another device/license? Any workaround? Any way for AE when running Windows on Parallels to use same license as AE when normally running on Windows (that is, when booted separately to Windows)?

Hi! My problem seems a bit complicated, and i'm not sure there even is a solution for what i'm trying to do, but i thought i'd give it a shot and ask.I'm currently working on an animation showing the route deviation of a tram line for the duration of a construction site. I have mapped the route in illustrator and exported layers to use in after effects.The tramline i want to show is on its own layer and i am using a mask on that layer to "uncover" the line bit by bit. So far i have just been unmasking one station of the route at a time, setting one keyframe per second.This screenshot shows the tram line i am uncovering and the mask-outline in red:and here is a screenshot of my keyframes: Like i said i've just placed them one second apart so far, because it's easiest that way, so i could focus on animating the mask path.  Of course now, because the distances between the stations on the map are vairable, this means the speed of the line uncovering looks faster or slow

Hello, I have 2 questions regarding parameters. For the sake of simplicity i will use a circle area idea as a toy example. let's say i have a parameter "radius" and a paramter "area". if the user changes the radius, i can detect that in PF_Cmd_USER_CHANGED_PARAM , compute and set the area value. questions: 1/ where is the best place to detect that change in case radius was driven keyframes (aka timeline change) ? in PF_Cmd_UPDATE_PARAMS_UI call? 2/is there a way to retrieve the raw param value before it is downscaled by in_data->downsample_x (and _y) ? 3/in my circle area example, is there a way to use "area" keyframes (with whip tool for example) but preventing the user from editing it ?...namely, i wanna expose "area" param as a read only param but that can  vary in time (keyframes will be added programmatically). thank you,

Hello, I have a mogrt in after effects which looks just as intended, but as soon as it goes into premiere the position is offset.It is set up to have multiple resolutions, but they work fine. Any ideas?

Hello all! I have a project where I have five layers in an Adobe Illustrator file. I have to apply trim paths to each layer so that it appears as if being drawn. I import Adobe Illustrator file as composition with document size and create vector shapes on each layer by left click on each layer. Then I add Trim Paths and animate the End from 0 to 100%. It works fine, however I wish that I just replace one Adobe illustrator file with another, so that I don't have to repeat the animation process. I tried making changes to original Adobe illustrator file and saving it but it doesn't incorporate the changes to created vector shapes. Is there a way I can just replace the Adobe illustrator file so that I don't have to apply trim paths animation repeatedly? (All files of Adobe illustrator have 5 layers labelled 1,2,3,4, and 5).

Is is possible to get the AEGP_LayerH if I only have the AEGP_EffectRefH? I have some complicated way of getting the effect reference I need, and I want to go back up to the comp. I can get the comp from the layer using AEGP_GetLayerParentComp, but I'm missing the first step.
