Dear Adobe After Effects Team,I am writing to report a persistent and long-standing bug in After Effects (on Windows) concerning the Render Queue's Output Module presets. The Problem: When I create and save an Output Module preset for an OpenEXR sequence with the Channels set to "RGB + Alpha", the checkbox for "Use Comp Frame Number" does not save correctly.Although I check this box and save the preset, after I close and restart After Effects, the preset reverts to having this option unchecked.Key Detail: This bug appears to be specifically tied to the "RGB + Alpha" setting. If I save the exact same preset but with Channels set to "RGB" only, the "Use Comp Frame Number" setting saves perfectly and persists after restarting the application.Steps to Reproduce:Open After Effects (on Windows).Add any composition to the Render Queue.Click on the Output Module preset name (e.g., "Lossless").Set the Format to OpenEXR.In Format Options..., set Channels to RGB + Alpha. Click OK.Check the Use Com

After Effects ignores any changes a plugin makes to a parameter’s value during certain commands, if the parameter in question happens to be hidden in the UI by virtue of having its AEGP_DynStreamFlag_HIDDEN flag set. This bug poses a rather big problem for many of our products, since users are never guaranteed that applying one of the built-in presets will succeed. This should be clear by following the Steps to reproduce below. Steps to reproduce:- Install the most recent version of FxFactory from our website: https://fxfactory.com/download/ - Download the FxFactory plugin available through this link: https://files.fxfactory.com/beta/aegpdynstreamflaghidden-1.0.0.zip - Once the download is complete, unzip the file and double-click it to have the "AEGP_DynStreamFlag_HIDDEN" plugin be ready for testing in After Effects. The product will be visible in FxFactory as such:- Launch After Effects- Open an exising Comp, and apply the "AEGP_DynStreamFlag_
hey, i just got the 7 day test for AE, but its always crashing when im trying to open the app. im on windows 10, rtx1060. other specs i dont rlly know but they should be good enough to run AE. On windows safe mode, it said: after effects error. crash during processing, last logged message: <19192> <DS> <0> GPUSniffer() encountered total GPU failure.also before it said some plugin was the problem but i believe i fixed it by deleting it. In february this year i tried (or wanted to) try premiere pro, back then i remember it having similar problems and crashing when trying to open. I really need help quick, thanks.
Current Behaviour:Clicking a Tab in the Timeline Window Sticks to the mouse as if Dragging is occurring Expected Behaviour:Release tab after click (unless actually dragging) This bug used to happen, at least ten years ago on lower performing hardware, which I do not have.I have 4TB of PCIE5 cache available and 256GB of 5600DDR5 RAM and 16GB of VRAM availableThe system did not exhibit this behaviour until:- latest 25.5 update- Added C4D files to comps (Advanced 3d renderer) Suspect it is 3D related as I have comps with C4d files in.(on a side not, position should be automatically locked on cineware files, but I can stick that in another post!) Asus wrx90 / TRPro7965 / Inno3d 5080 - latest Studio Drivers(58.157)/256 5600 supported RAM (XMP boosted)/ T705 1TB OS / T700 4TB cache / T700 4TB Storage You should be able to check previous records for how this error was fixed in the past.Could also be high display settings as I am at 125% on 27" UHD screen
Hello!I'm HenryThe thing is, this morning when I opened the file, there was a warning that rotobrush had some error that I don't know about, and when I opened the same file, it was normal. I hope someone can help me. Thanks.
Hey!So I have a problem with Advanced 3D. Every time I enable it or open model files my After Effects crashes. "After Effects can't continue: Advanced 3D plug-in generated an unexpected exception."I tried it on 2024 version and 2025, both crash.Tried .gltf .obj .mtl .fbx .glb formats. It doesn't make a difference.Tried everything I could find on the internet but nothing worked. I also tried using Cinema 3D instead of Advanced but when I upload the models it automatically stwitches to Advanced 3D.I have a pretty high end PC - 4060 TI, Ryzen 7 5700X3D and my drivers are up to date. Please help.
setHorizontalScale methode for editing per-charachter styling is used to change the scale for some charachters. In the last update 25.5.It started to act weird and wrong on some ways.It introduced some scale in the vertical also! Here is a video that shows the problem.2025-10-19 21-14-04.mkv - Google DriveI hope this bug gets fixed!Thank you for reading😊
Pretty sure camera lens blur is completely boned in ae25. Was using this effect religiously in ae23 and render times were fine in ae25 it takes 3 hours to render 6 frames of this effect.

After Effects will play/preview my animation clearly But, as can see in second picture, it doesn't export properly. I have cleaned out my cache, made sure all my graphics drivers were updated, and reinstalled the Video Copilot Saber effect, but this keeps happening. Any ideas?
The simplest example is this:alert(" \u00A0");I’ve confirmed that the following characters cause the error:\u00A0, \u180E, \u2001–\u200D, \u205FHowever, it seems that there are several other Unicode characters that also trigger this issue.I would like to request a fix for this bug.
Hi everyone,I've discovered a serious regression bug in After Effects 2025 (including the latest updates) affecting users who work with Cyrillic (Russian) or potentially other non-Latin characters. The Dropdown Menu Control expression effect is failing to handle Cyrillic text in its menu items: any Russian text entered is immediately replaced with question marks (????).Key Details:Affected Control: Dropdown Menu Control only. Other expression controls (like Slider Control) are fine.Version Status: This issue did not occur in After Effects 2024—it's a regression in AE 2025.Platform Independent: The bug is reproducible on both Windows and macOS (M4), confirming it's an internal application issue, not an OS setting problem.Workaround: The only way to use this control with Russian text is to rely on the numeric index (value) in expressions instead of the text string, and use a switch statement or array to map the number to the correct Cyrillic string. Please submit a bug report to Adobe usin
Hi all I did a fresh install of After Effects via Creative Cloud, and I am getting the startup error:After Effects error: internal verification failure, sorry! {Unable to acquire ASCII-style name} It was doing this before upgrading to the most recent version, and did it again even after an install. I click okay, and it still opens AE, but it's a very annoying way to start using the program. Any suggestions on how to fix?
I'm attempting to add a motion blur to a graphic and experiencing an issue where the blur never "disappears" when an animation/motion is completed (see image below):The issue is appearing both in the comp preview and final renders/exports, and started after I updated AE to 25.1. The blur immediately appears on any graphic when it's applied, regardless of whether I have an animation/position keyframed or not. I've deleted my cache, removed all plugins and reinstalled AE to no avail. Is anyone else experiencing this?
1. Bring in SVG data from Figma via Toothpaste script2. Select top shape group and use the ungroup command3. wait for up to 10 min for After Effects to "ungroup" the shapes. I have no idea why this is taking this long, even on simple shape groups. Dragging the shapes out of the group also takes forever.
Creating a new precomp of items with (some) Essential properties is causing AE to crash Video here Import an item (testing .aep here) that has some essential properties - import can be via UI or CEP, doesn't matter add this item as a new layer to a new comp select the layer and precomp it using "Leave all attributes in xyz" AE crashes Observations: seems to be related to Essential Graphics in some way, most likely if the item was created in previous versions of AE removing Essential Graphics from the item fixes the issue and precomp works correctly same issue cross-platform (we've tested 6 computers in 3 locations - Mac and Win) same issue on AE 2024, 2025 and 2025-beta - 2023 works, aep was originally made in AE 2023 very unpredictable - 9/10 results in crash, occassionally goes through without issue tested 30+ variations of the Essential Properties (naming, fonts, types, groups configuration) without replicable success. On this specific item (attached), removi
EDITED textAfter update to 25.4 I have real trouble with rendering simple composition in my project. What was done in seconds, with new version takes tens of minutes.. In the composition are layers with different blend modes, all revealed by animated mask. Cache cleared, restart AE, restart of computer, updates.. all done..The slowdown is really extreme. One frame lasts about minute or more. There are few layers with color burn mode, which takes ages to render ATM..I can post the project.AE25.4 @ Windows 10, 16 core AMD and nVidia 12GB, 128GB RAM. GPU acceleration enabled..
I use After Effects latest version, don't startup app from 16th September.I think latest version is wrong.
I have encountered a bug in Adobe version 25.4 related to EXR files. When applying effects to EXR files (particularly the Extractor effect) the output becomes glitched. The image appears fragmented and unsmooth, which significantly impacts both the preview and the final render. This issue makes it difficult to work with EXR footage reliably.
Hi, When I preview my comp (usually by pressing the space bar) I can't see the red line that tracks the position on the timeline.I know this has been a regular issue, but I've not seen any suggested fixes that solve the problem.I'm using a blank file, I have a seperate drive for disk cache (which is empty), I've reset my preview options, I've ticked Show overlays and controls...Computer: Mac Mini M1AE version: 25.4.0 (build 86)Through pressing everything I have managed to be able to view the red indicator IF i zoom in or out of the timeline once it is running! This doesn't seen like I should need to do this.Attached two images, one just previewing timeline (no red line), one previewing timeline while zooming in/outAny ideas?Cheers Rob
If you resize the composition using the "Crop Comp to Region of Interest" feature in version 17.5.1, there will be a difference in the display between 2D and 3D layers with the same X and Y numbers. It didn't happen in versions prior to 17.1.4.The following reproduction procedure1, Creating a composition2, Create a new layer3, Resize the composition using "Crop Comp to Region of Interest"4, Check the 3D layer.Other than "Crop Comp to Region of Interest", the same phenomenon occurs when resizing with "Composition Settings / Advanced / Anchor" selected other than the center. Also, if you open a project file saved in version 17.5 or later in version 17.1.4 or earlier, the displayed position will change. The workaround I've found is to place the camera layer to restore the display.Thank you.
Hello, I think I found a scripting bug with ScriptUI dropdown lists in After Effects 25.4 and 25.5. When an item is selected from a dropdown list and triggers an onChange function, the code executes, but the dropdown list resets, as if nothing was selected. In After Effects 25.3.2 and before, this works as expected. Here’s how I tested it:To make sure it wasn't complex code causing the issue, I created a simple script with a ScriptUI palette that has two dropdown lists. The left dropdown does nothing when selected. The right dropdown executes an onChange function and shows an alert. When selecting an item from the left dropdown, the new selection holds. When selecting an item from the right dropdown, the alert appears correctly. Clicking “Ok” closes the alert, but it reappears immediately, and the selection in the right dropdown is cleared.I tested the same script in After Effects versions 24.6.8, 25.3.2 and 25.4. It works in 24.6.8 and 25.3.2, but fails in 25.4. It'
I'm using a translator to write this because my English isn't good, so I apologize in advance. The issue is that I've been struggling with this for two weeks now. My After Effects crashes when I press Alt+Tab. The crash happens like this: my mouse freezes, the screen goes black, and then the video card driver resets.I've already tried updating my drivers. I installed the studio driver, tried other ones, older ones, stable versions—nothing helped.I thought my graphics card might be faulty, so I borrowed a different one from a friend. The exact same thing happened.I've even tried reinstalling Windows three times, but the crashes come back after 2-3 days. I've also tried different versions of After Effects and swapped out my plugins. Still, after 2-3 days, the crashes start again.Honestly, I'm not sure if anyone here can help me, but I thought it was worth a shot.I've been using AE for 2-3 years before this without any problems.Thank you for time
Hi all,I’m getting repeatable memory errors in After Effects on two different PCs with the same project (a light 1080p comp). It happens during RAM preview and when running the 3D Camera Tracker.Error dialogs (screenshots attached):“After Effects: 21,820 MB / 132,563 MB of memory could not be allocated … (12803 / Unidentified caller)”“After Effects: Out of memory (23::40)”“Not enough memory for 3D Camera Tracker at frame 0 (25::16)”On one machine we also saw: HuionTabletCore.exe – 0xc0000142 (tablet not connected; driver removed)Once Windows even refused to open taskmgr.exe: “Not enough system resources to complete the requested service.”Project context1080p, standard effects, not GPU-heavy.Errors feel random: sometimes at preview start, sometimes during camera-track analysis. What I’ve triedPurged All Memory & Disk Cache; Disk Cache on local NVMe (hundreds of GB free).Increased Windows pagefile size (also tried “system managed”) → no change.Latest NVIDIA Game Ready driver tested on
