After Effects

I have this layer with Separated DimensionsThe Y is animated with keyframes. The X has no keyframes.When I move the layer in the X direction (with shift pressed, so constrained - Y is not changed),Y gets a keyframe, while it shouldn't, because the value is not changed. Please respect Separated Dimensions when repositionin in one direction. Only add a keyframe when the value of a keyframed track changes.  

Hey guys! I've tried to install After Effects in my PC but it keeps telling me Retry... I don't know why. Any ideas on how I can resolve this challenge. It's too frustrating 

I am following a tutorial and my bend is behaving strangely. I set the start and end to receive the desired effect and I set the rotation with keyframes, when the shape turns, it breaks completely and I cannot use the bend as I would like. I noticed that the start does not follow the shape and stays in the same place. How can I fix this, and why doesn't the Grow bounds work? 

I have been running AE 25.1 with no problem (or maybe it ws an older version. Today I open a project on my Mac running Sonoma 14.6.1 and there is no written information on the screen. The only words on the entire screen are the menu items on the right. When I move something to the render cue, it also is blank:  It's a little hard to work with out the written info, names etc.

I have a new M4 Max and have the most up to date After Effects 25.1 and i have some scripts I installed and they crash AE everytime and give an error message attached. These work on my M1. 

Hi, I've been trying to fix this issue on my own for the past few days and have met dead ends and I would really appreciate some help/insight. I've been trying to use the two effects, Numbers and Timecode, which are both under the text category of the effects and presets menu. Unfortunately, whenever I do try to use these effects, AE freezes, turns into that white lifted screen, and just crashes, forcing me to force quit the session.  So far I have tried:- Trying after restarting the PC (Not just restart, but like a full shut down, turn back on, and then trying)- Uninstalling and reinstalling After Effects 2024 and 2025 (I believe the versions I was using were 24.6.3 and 25.01)- Running the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, and reinstalling AE- Updating the GPU (My machine is using NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, Windows 11, 32GB RAM )- Disabling third-party plugins in safe mode- Checking off the "Hardware Accelerate Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels" while testin

Hello,I’ve had a version of After Effects installed on my computer for some time now, and it has always worked perfectly until a few weeks ago. Since then, a blank black screen has replaced my compositions, regardless of the project I open. I’ve tried finding solutions on forums, but nothing has worked. I’ve uninstalled almost all of my software to avoid compatibility issues, changed versions of After Effects, reinstalled new drivers for my graphics card and processor… but still nothing.I’ve restarted the software while resetting my preferences and even launched it in safe mode with Ctrl+Shift+Alt, but no improvement. Finally, I’ve tried changing the preview settings by toggling between Mercury GPU/CPU settings, but still no success.I’m quite worried as I can’t seem to find a solution. If it helps, I’ve noticed that when I enable “full screen” in the preview settings, I experience significant display bugs but still no visual output of my scenes.If you know of a solution, I’d great

Not really sure whats going on but I have several different mp4 files on my computer all downloaded through the same method but a select few of the files I downloeded more recently, turn into mp3's when I put them into the compisition. This used to only happen with 1/8 of my files but now every new file I download and import into After Effects turns into an MP3 and I'm not sure what to do. The MP4's play fine on any media player app I have but the second I place them into the timeline the video dissapears but the audio remains. Please help.

Hi, I just upgraded my computer from an old 4930k to Ultra 285k.  I have 196gb of ram, 2x 2070, all m2 ssds. I upgraded to AE 2025.  Everything is running much faster than before, which is great news.  The only issue, is that the render queue window is very laggy.  When I press Ctrl - M, it takes a few seconds for the render queue to appear.  Also, when scrolling through older renders, it's very slow. This seems odd since everything else is working as it should. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks,Olivier

So lately I have a problem with after effects. When I open a old project or make a new one, I can't see anything i have placed or place. Also when I move some of the side panels like the layer panel it glitches. I dont really know what to do and I need this program for school.

Hello Guys ! I am working on Camera Tracking. I want the solid to be under my shoe and I want to step on the solid, but the solid goes on top of my shoe. How can i fix this? 

After effect crashes every time when Explorer window is opened.I mean that this happens when opens the Windows Explorer window (save as, import, output to, etc..).To use the new version is simply impossible, it is necessary to return to the 2013 versionMaybe there is a solution to the problem?Version 2013 works perfectly.When I booted in safe mode, this problem disappeared.Windows reinstalled - it does not help.

I've long been wondering about the best way to create a cloud flythrough using Adobe After Effects. Thanks to 3D layers, you can get pretty close with faking volumetric clouds. There are a lot of steps however that make it tricky to get right.   First we need some images of clouds. I opted to use Adobe Firefly for its generative AI based on Adobe Stock. This got me a lot of useful cloud images, but as the Adobe's AI does not allow for transparent backgrounds, I then needed to open the each image into Photoshop. For the wispy clouds, I was able to use the Red Channel as a layer mask to remove the blue backgrounds. For the fluffy clouds, I used the new Remove Background option in Photoshop to cut out each cloud. This wasn't perfect for my needs though, so I then used a trick where I was able to decrease the selection outline to crop or trim each image.   Once I had all my images, I started in After Effects by creating a precomp which allowed me to collectively manage all the

I have tried every combo with my Dell Precision 3551 - usually on a USB keyboard I can easily shift frames with ALT+PG UP or maybe ALT+SHIFT+PG UP I forget. But on laptop keyboard, there is no way, I tried using the FN key, I tried with num lock on/off and with FN key, is there a workaround?  Same with the simple SHIFT+PG UP to move 10 frames... no luck.

Newbie question: When I animate text with a preset (ie. drop in characters) - how do I move the text to start off the page and have it 'drop in' onto the page?

Hi, Im trying to achieve a volumetric effect from a 2d image. Im not sure how to do so in after effects. I leave two images 1 that would  be the starting point and 2 what I would like to achieve. Can anyone give me a hand? what effects or combination of effects would help me achieve something similar at least? thank you.

Hallo,ich kann alle Cinema-4D-Datein, die ich über das PlugIn in AfterEffects erstellt habe, nicht mehr öffnen.Wenn ich die C4D-Datei in AfterEffects markiere und den Befehl "Datei extern bearbeiten" anklicke, erscheint zuerst die Frage, ob ich die alte Datei überschreiben möchte (so, wie es sein sollte).Ich bestätige dann mit "Ja" und das Fenster verschwindet. Weiter passiert aber nichts. Cinema 4D startet nicht und es gibt euch keine Fehlermeldung.Ich kann "normal" mit AfterEffects weiterarbeiten.Vor ein paar Tagen hatte ich das Problem noch nicht. Ich habe AfterEffetcs auch schon komplett deinstalliert und neu installiert. - AfterEffects 25.1.0 (bulit 68)- Windows 11 Kennt jemand das Problem?

Hi folks,i am struggling with the following problem: Regardless of the version of Ae (i run both the final CC2015 Version, as well as the most recent CC2017 update) - after trying to preview a composition in my project, the composition window becomes empty and doesn't display anything (see images attached). After that, no matter what composition i open, it all remains blank, when scrubbing through the timeline and when previewing. When i try to quit Ae after that, it becomes unresponsive - i can't exit it other than killing the process in the task manager..I have tried the following: - purge cache/image memory- import project into a new project- open project in different versions of AEAfter seeing similar problems in other threads (with none of the "solutions" helping) let me assure the following: - it is not a magnification or zooming issue, when i start the preview i can see everything, the preview is just killed after that rightaway- the CTI is at a point in time where things should

Please help me!when I work in after effects, at any moment or while minimizing after effects, it can freeze for 5-10 seconds, after which a black screen appears for 10-15 seconds, then everything passes and after that, after effects composition turns white or the entire program interface becomes transparent when I restart the program everything becomes normal

The solution may be very simple, but I can't figure it out. I have a video using CC Star Dust and Gaussian Blur effects with transparent background (AE-Shutter-Encoder-settings.png), converted to QuickTime format, which I convert to WebM format using Shutter Encoder (AE-Shutter-Encoder-settings.png). I would like to use the resulting video as a transition in OBS, but as you can see in the attached picture (OBS-settings-final-res.png), if the background is too white, the Gaussian Blur effect will be grey instead of the red color I set, but the color will be well rendered against the black background. I have tried all kinds of settings and solutions, but the Gaussian Blur effect always turns grey on OBS.Thanks ahead for your help and sorry if I missed something to mention.
