Hi, I would like to come up with weird Pen tool bug I have just encountered.  I was trying to make a mask around a character, and the Pen tool didn't create mask point on the cursor location, instead it kept adding all mask points in the same spot (where I clicked for first time) and only way to extend the mask was to click and holt the mouse button.  As mentioned in the post bellow, the solution was to delete scaling keyframes - when deleted, Pen tool started to act normally again - but after adding keyframes back, Pen tool acted wierdly again. I guess it has to be a bug - I don't have any idea what would be this helpful for - and since this bug was recorded 6 years ago and it still appears, I would like to point on it, because it can be very frustrating for users that don't know the "delete keyframes solution" Here is the screen recording (sorry for the music, I had Spotify on with some Discover weekly stuff going on 😄 ) - https://drive.goog

Hi, Everyboby~I have developed a plugin using the AE plugin SDK, but if the same plugin is applied to multiple layers of the same composite, there may be data conflicts and confusion. How can I solve this problem

hey i need help around exporting effect data from after effect layer or compotision to JSON. currently i am using body movin and lottie files but it's not working with any effects only core feature's are being export in JSON but i want to export effect data of MOCHA, mesh wrap , and etc.. am open to use other plugings or approach 

Is there a way I can connect anchor point from two different paths, and thereby join the paths together like I can in Illustrator? E.g. I'd like to join the two in the screengrab where they are crossing over. I can't seem to do that just by selecting the pen tool and clicking the relevant anchor points. 

I was editing and simply pressing ctrl s to save but missed and hit ctrl w and now all my 8 hours of work is gone can someonehelp

I am trying to instal some extensions onto After Effets 2021 using ZXP installer however, it keeps showing "Installation failed because the extension is not compatible with the installed applications". I am using a Macbook Pro 2020 with Big Sur 11.2.3 and the Creative Suite updated to 2021 versions of all the apps.I have deleted the ZXP installer, downloaded it again, obtained the latest version of the extension and nothing changes.Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

i was just editing until i realized it was short so i tried to to go bck to the beginning and wouldn't let me idk how to fix it. last time i fixed it but i don't remember how can someone please help me 

Hi, I'm having issues with After Efects running on a macbook pro. The application freezes at different times, for example, when moving a keyframe, or adjusting the spatial interpolation, adding an effect, etc. This freeze locks up my whole computer and forces a computer restart. I have tried deleting all plug ins, preferences, and starting in safe mode. All these efforts do not fix the issue. Any ideas? Reloading .exr footage does not update any multipass layers. You need to close and reopen AE for the extractor layers to update.

I recently encountered a persistent error in After Effects that I’d like to share for both assistance and to inform Adobe of a potential improvement area.The initial error message was:"After Effects: Memory allocation of 2.1 GB exceeds internal limits. Decrease the memory requirements for the rendering of this frame. (12802). When editing shape layer using Shape properties and transform some issues occur: 1. In Shape Properties when sizing the shape the center of transform is in the center of the object ignoring the anchor point position.2. In Shape Transform when adjusting Anchor Point the shape moves instead of anchor point.3. To change the shape from Rectange or any other predefined shapes to editable curve it always takes few clicks until the option becomes available under right click mouse button. Ideally this option should be available anytime when right clicking the predefined shape.

Hey there! I am very bad with expressions, but let me try and verbalize my idea here.  I'm looking to essentially create a template for a project where a lens flare will fade in quickly as it passes over a layer of text, fading out between letters. It would need to be something that can be dynamic in the sense that I can change the text layer to anything I want, but the lens flare will show up as it moves past the text. An example would be: I have a sunrise matted behind text, and as the sun shines through, the lens flare appears in the foreground in front of the text, but disappears as the sun goes between the letters. The background is black to paint a bit of a picture there.  Hoping this is something I can do instead of manually changing the opacity for every export I'll need to do. Thank you in advance for your time and help!

Hello guys,I have installed Cinema 4D Lite Add-Ons, but it appears to be error when I tried to open it. I have tried:- Reinstalling After Effects 2025.1 (Including Add-Ons)- Restarting My Macbook Pro M2 Max- Adding Cineware to Layer, but it didn't work.- Checking After Effects Add-Ons on Creative Cloud app. It appears that Cinema 4D already installed. But I can't open in After Effects 2025.1.Nothing works. Please help me. I attatch some of messages error.I am using After Effects 2025.1 (newest version as per 17 November 2024) and Macbook Pro M2 Max.Thankyou so much.

When a third party plugin is selected in the Effect Control Window), all mouse events appear to be handled by the third-party plug-in for its own on-screen controls. In this scenario, if I switch to the hand cursor to pan around the frame, it doesn’t work! Presumably, if the events are going to the third-party effect they cannot ALSO be handled by AE for it own functionality.  There are at least two good solutions to this problem:1) Any time the user switches to the hand cursor, disable third-party on-screen controls and thus allow the user to pan around the frame as usual. As soon as the user switches back to the arrow cursor, give control back to the third-party plugin. 2) As long as the third-party effect title is selected in the Canvas, disallow anything but the default arrow cursors. Allow the third-party plugin to capture events, change the cursor to whatever it wants, etc. Either one of those two are acceptable to users/developers. 1 is probably a better UX.&

Hey all I'm trying to create a particular (no pun intended) look in after effects. Basically a sphere which looks like the attached but animates. I want the spheres circle shapes to conform to the surphase of a sphere and to flock and flow in waves across the surface. I've been playing in particular trying to get this effect but so far no joy. Anyone with any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated. 

Hello, I recorded the screen of my computer with Nvidia Replay! which enable me to record multiple audio tracks (in my case : the sound from the computer in 1 audio track + my voice through a external microphone (Blue Yeti) in a second audio track) When I open the MP4 file in a video play for example microsofts Films & TV app, I can manually switch between the 2 tracks. But when I want to import the video file into after affects, it shows me only the 1st track (Gameplay/discord audio) and not the voice recording. It is impossible to get the 2nd audio track with it. I spent ages trying to figure it out but I have no clue what to do.. I know after effects is for doing effects after however no matter what I do I cannot get any video with two audio tracks to both appear. My friend said this wasn't normal and he could! Thanks for your help guys, I hope I'll get some support with this! 

I have tried the camera tracking method but I keep getting the analysis failed message so Im needing help, I'd like to paste a poster permanantly on the red circled area and have it be there as the camera tracks back and forth.   and forth.

I'm working in ACES 1.3 Studio v1, and my working color space is ACEScg. I can set the diplay color space for my monitors, but I can't find where to set the display color space for the Mercury Transmit display (a HDMI connected UHD tv). The colors and contrast are way off, only when I set the working color space to none or an sRGB color space do I get a more 'normal' looking image. I'd like to work in ACEScg and be able to preview on a HDMI connected TV.What am I missing?Thanks!

So I tried to copy from my 14.1 backup and it will not see it.I have a purchased theme that uses it a lot and I don't knowthe right plugin to select so I can copy and paste the settings.This worked great in 14.1.. any tips?Thanks,Sam
