After Effects

When using Ae 23, rendering a clip uses almost all of my ram and frequently crashes. However, it does not happen consistently and I've tried recreating the conditions, but I am not sure what exactly is triggering this behavior.   Sometimes I'll load a file and RAM usage will jump up to 80% and stay there. Then playback pushes ram usage to the brim (even on 1080p videos). The program will start to lag, notify it is unresponsive, and cause the rest of my computer to be slow. I don't understand, I bought this laptop specifically to use the Adobe suite and it is impeding my workflow. It occurs even when no effects are being used.   Please let me know if I need to provide any   Here are my specs: -ASUS ProArt Studiobook -32GB RAM -12th Gen Intel i7 -Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics (GPU 0) -NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (GPU 1)   Here's what I've tried in order: -Restart computer -Close all other programs (except task manager) -Start with an empty project -Adding after effects to

Error installing After Effects. After the installation is completed, a crash error appears on the desktop, and AE writes that the plugins are installed incorrectly, although I did not install anything.

I downloaded the new maxon app 2023 and, accordingly, the magic bullet looks plugin. but when I go into after effects and apply coloring using "looks", the application just crashes. what is the problem? I've already reinstalled it several times. at first, I just didn't ship the coloring. and gave out lags. and then after effects closes. Please tell me, it's very urgent!!!! Title edited by Mod.

I'm at the end of my rope here. I can't get anything done cause After Effects crashes everytime I try to preview anything. I've used these .ae files on another computer with all the same scripts, plug-ins, windows, settings, and keyboard shortcuts. Works fine on my office machine but at home AE jsut crashes. I have a solid with the particle system II with producer position keyframes. I added a null object renamed emitters and copy and pasted the producer position keyframes onto the null object's position. Then I clicked shift and parented the producer position to the position of the null. My goal is to have the solid layer with the particle system producer follow the null. However, it seems that the entire layer is moving with the null object as you can see with the bounding box, when I'm just trying to have the producer of the particle system move with the null object. I'm wondering these two things:Why is the entire layer moving when I just have the particle effect producer parented to the null object?I don't understand why shift parenting didn't put the producer's position smack dab on the null when shift parenting would normally snap it to the exact position of the null object.

Can't use the pan tool or dolly tool through the active camera because of this error.This is weird because even though I change the position, point of interest, and rotations I still can't use the pan tool or dolly tool. The rotation tool does work though. My camera is a two node camera. 

I had saved the file i was working on literally minutes before my power went out and then i opened after effects when it came back and not only is that file gone but every other file is gone and this animate composition page shows up but usually it's just a list of my comps, it's no where in my file explorer either, does anyone know what to do?  everything i've ever worked on is gone  

Hi,After Effects seems to break my project files.Expected behavior:I open a project and the first preview frame renders.Actual B behavior:under certain circumstances After Effects doesn't render any preview frames after opening a project (the preview area just becomes grey). I can scroll through the timeline, change effect settings etc. but no frames are rendered and the program has 0% CPU usage. It crashes on exit.This behavior can be reproduced this way (I can only reproduce it using BorisFX Sapphire plugins, but I suspect it's an AE issue): See attachments for demonstration.1. Hi community!I would like to use the cc particle world effect in one of my compositions. But when I use it I can't see my composition in the background anymore and I can't find any option to change that in the effect menu itself. Maybe I need to create a transparent layer and apply the effect to it but I don't know how to do that aswell.It's probably a simple problem but I don't know how to find the solution. instead of the black background I want to see the composition underneath it.Any help is appreciated thanks!

My question is, how is the position property calculated then after the anchor point has moved to 0? Is it calculated based on the shift of the layer content? Initial Setup:(transform effect)Anchor Point: (540, 540)Position: (540, 540)Visual Position: The layer is centered in the composition.Change Anchor Point:Anchor Point: (0, 540)Position: (540, 540)Visual Position: The layer content shifts right by 540 pixels.

It´s normal that AE comsume RAM until eat it all with out doing nothing? Just with a project open?? This is nuts.

So I have a few clips that I would like to erase or mask a person and use content aware fill. I have read up on it and follow some youtube channels to learn. I do everything they say to do step by step and after it analyzes the clip and then rendors the clip I am left with a black box over the person I want to be masked over. Nothing gets filled. Am I doing something wrong?

Currently, I can press "Page Up/Page Down" to move backward/forward by 1 frame and use "Shift + Page Up/Page Down" to move backward/forward by 10 frames.What if I want to go backward/forward by 5 frames or another specific number of frames? Does After Effects have a similar feature to Premiere Pro's "Step Forward/Back Many: x frames," as shown in the image below?Thank you.

My After Effects is working very slowly; the entire workflow is lagging and hanging. When I need to move layers in the composition panel or adjust keyframes in the timeline, it lags extremely. My PC itself isn't that slow, but this problem is making it nearly impossible to work with After Effects. Is there a solution

After Effects sometimes lets me save as but more often than not, for the last couple of months or so the naming/title part of the save as window is completely greyed out and it won't let me do anything. This is driving me mad as my work completely revolves around working in Adobe and this is slowing me down so much.

In AE 2024.4.1 Settings (that incidentally opens a window entitled 'Preferences'), the option for Use Label Color for Layer Handles and Paths does not work for mask paths when it's deselected. The handles become grey but the mask path colour remains the colour of the layer, it doesn't turn to the neutral grey. I do recall this setting working in previous versions of AE. Doesn't help with a current project consisting of multiple coloured dashed strokes each with their layer colours matching the shape colour, the mask path is almost invisible. This would seem to be an essential functionality bug that needs immediate attention?  😉 Mac Studio M2macOS Sonoma 14.5

Render Issue: After rendering the project in Ae, Me, and Pr in H.264 file format, there was a Green glitch in the video sometimes the video stayed empty or blank screen. I tried changing the export format. I used HEVC (H.265) The output looks good. I just wanted to understand the issue. Thank you!

hello!! so i have been using after effects for 4 years now as an instagram editor using my macbook pro. recently in march, i changed my project format to h264 for a youtube project i helped my friend work on. however, after changing my settings back to default so i can continue to make videos for instagram, i noticed washed out colors after rendering. after some research i learned that it was a quicktime error that is common with animators or video creators. the solution i saw was to leave it alone and it'll look like what i saw on adobe, but when posting my videos to instagram, they looks exactly the same as they did on quicktime. i do not plan on using h264 in the future so im not sure what to do to get my videos to look like how it used to look. here is an example using my pet tortoise

Hello all,  I am working with one of the videos from NASA Studio:  https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/3816/ (second video 0:40-0:56) And my goal is to create a "growing" line that goes around the equator and the moves with the sphere as it rotates. I was able to do it for the 60th south latitude (3D Tracking - create camera and solid - pre compose the solid, trim path line on a new layer and delete the solid). But for the equatorial area I can't sem to get it right - probably because the change in rotation is bigger?  Does anyone have an idea? Thanks!
