Hi -This is a serious post and not an ad-hoc gripe.I have just started to use Audition MID and it simply does not work! I have today read many of the posts of this forum and can identify other similar problems - for example - MIDI note off messages not being recorded re-transmitted to synths.I would suggest that those with continuing problems post here in summary to give a community 'feel' for Audition with regard to MIDI for the benefit of users and developers alike. As a former Sun Microsystems Test-lead engineer, here is imy appraisal of Adobe Audition MIDI capabilities:1. It simply does not work. It appears that the Audition Design/Development team designed from a too simplistic stand point. It appears that the functionality was not thought through; and it most certainly looks like the MIDI features were NOT adequately tested in real-world scenarios; especially regarding connectivity with MIDI hardware.2. The documentation is too sparse and does not sufficiently explain the feature

My legally obtained and registered copy of Audition CS6 has worked perfectly since I got it. But recently it has developed a fault and won't open. I get a message saying:"Adobe Audition CS6 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." In short, it won't even start.After searching for solutions online I have tried a few things, like renaming a folder in the app data directory. I've also reinstalled the software from the discs and I've downloaded and installed an update patch, but the problem persists. Has anyone had this problem - and more importantly - solved it?Thanks.

Hi,I have to open a .xml.sesx file in Auditions CC 2015.When I open it, it shows the edits we have done without the actual audio tracks.I can't link media either, cause then it doesn't show the edit.How do I get around this? Export the file into Auditions or Premiere Pro to export back to Auditions?

Hi,I'm trying to create VHS sound effects on a line of dialogue for a short film but have no idea where to start.The original audio track is crisp and clean: recorded on a Sennheisser lapel mic with a Roland 26. I'm using Adobe CS6 for all post work (edit, VFS, sound editing and mixing).I'm looking to achieve something like this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0iMqdOqymA#t=1m20sSo lots of distortion, disonnances, low-fi quality, non linear in time. But, keep in mind that the effects will be applied to a line of dialogue (which last 3 seconds); and not a music track like the video above.My sound editing knowledge is quite limited so I haven't managed to get anything really convincing... I've used and tweaked Doppler effects, Flangers and Low-fi EQ effects but not in a good enough maner. And I'm probably missing other effects that could help sell the effects.If you have any idea on how to pull it off, I'm all ears!Thanks,Jonathan

Hi all,I am a novice Audition user. I am using this to create Karaoke (vocal removal). But i see that the software removes only partial voice (only dilutes it). I am using Adobe Audition CS6.  Stereo Imagery -> Center Channel Extractor (CCE) -> Presets (Karaoke -20dB) + Frequency (Male Voice). The end result is just a suppressed / distorted vocals that's all. I even tried to reduce the center channel to -40dB instead of -20dB, Still no use. I tried this on multiple songs (with Male Voices) and all have the same effect. I read in another forum that if the original song has slight reverb CCE may not work. Is this true? But almost all songs have a bit of reverb on the vocals. I have a 'not so helpful' colleague of mine who brings out pure Karaoke and claims it to be from Adobe Audition 3.0 (a  much older verison than what I am using). I think I am missing some additional step. Please assist.

Hi,Just got a new Samsung laptop with Windows 8...this is all new to me..I'm used to my old XP laptop but it was ancient.  I'm getting frustrated because the main program I wanted to use - Adobe Audition 3.0 - doesn't seem to want to install on my new laptop.  The installation begins, even the official Adobe extractor makes a folder for the program files, asks me if I'd like to install Audition, I click "Yes", it starts to install....then when I get to selecting which language, I click on "English".  At this point, the installer just disappears. Nothing.  No confirmation of anything, no error message.  I've tried this over & over...Also I've tried to use Compatibility Mode with no luck.  When doing it that way, a box comes up that says something like "Did the program install correctly...select Yes if so, or No to troubleshoot...".  If I select "No", the window doesn't offer any solutions.  Another weird thing--on a whim I took this laptop int

I havn't bought Audition yet but I am using the trial (will buy it once i figure out my problem). I want to do what the person in the youtube video ([TUTORIAL] How to Make any Microphone Sound better & More Professional with Adobe Audition) did. all of the computers are running windows 7  some 32 bit some 64 bit .  The Microsoft c++ libraries have been repaired.   We have six copies of the program and this is only an issue on 2 of them. HiI just downloaded a trial of Audition CS4 for windows.I have already used it to remove a few clicks which are evident in this short (attached) PRE-audition sample.Now I would like to go in and remove (if possible) or at least reduce the slight "echo" of the room itself.  You can hear the "echo" in this attached wav file.I realize I might not be able to remove all of the "echo" but if I could remove some of it it would be nice.ThanksRowby

I recently purchased a new Dell Studio XPS 8100 running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium.I purchased Adobe Audition 3.0 and upgraded to 3.01.Extract audio from CD does work at all -- it does not even open a window to choose a track.If I try to use the open command, I see the tracks but it says file type .cda is not supported.(All of the above work perfectly with my old XP computer.)I know my new hardware is working well because I can extract a CD track to a .wav file usingWindows Media Player.  I can then opoen the .wav file in Audition and edit it.What kind of dirty tricks is Microsoft Win 7 plalying on me?Has anyone else had this problem?Are there any patches to Audition or the OS to fix the problem?

I'm new to Audition CC so apologies for the basic question. I originally asked this in the Premiere Pro forum but I think it's more an Audition question..  I have AVCHD home video (MTS video with AC3 stereo audio) and have found I can clean up the audio, for example in speeches, very well in Audition. Is there a way to just replace the MTS's orginal audio track without re-encoding the video (which it seems I have to, if I do this via Premiere Pro)? In some cases the videos are poorly lit and any re-encoding makes them look noticeably worse than the original. In any event the video does not need re-encoding, I just need to replace the audio. Maybe I need to export the cleaned-up audio from Audition and use some other program to replace the audio in the original MTS file? Is that called re-muxing?  Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,I am well aware that it is best practice to have good audio with no noise in the first place, however, I have a video that cannot be retaken and the sound is very clear but there is some noise from the microphone and clothing. I really need to just do the best job I can with the video and audio that I have.I have audition but the noise is intermittent and it is difficult. I know it has been removed in CS5.5 but is there any way to get it back?I have some old wma audio clips which I'm forced to use.It's ok to remove export to wma ability but reading support for many different formats is always good to have.Is there some plugin to read wma in CS5.5 or a way to copy/paste wma import support files from Audition 3?

I am about to start the re-edit of a complicated hour documentary because I apparently trashed the .sesx file by mistake and then diligently did my regular backup on my external which erased the .sesx over there.  Having recently switched to Adobe from APPLE, I looked for the Final Cut Pro auto-emergency-save-backup-every-five-minutes-because-the-editor-is-an-idiot option but, alas, I have learned that does not exist in Audition.  I have now added the step export-session-with-copied-all-media-ticked option at the end of every work day.  This is a rookie welcome-to-Adobe mistake, yes?  Is there some secret temporary stash of .sesx files that does not show up in a search?

Hello all,I did a mix for a client in Audition. The editor tells me that the sound is drifting out of sync. It seems that the video was shot at 24 fps but the sound was recorded at 23.98. Is there any way I can adjust my audio so it can sync with 24fps video? The editor is working in Final Cut 7.

I'm using a Roland UA-3FX interface with Audition 5.5 on windows 7.If I load in a drum loop on one track and then record some bass on another track (monitoring direct though my interface), the recorded bass is slightly but noticably delayed from the drums. As I understand it, the ASIO driver and Audition, between them, should be working out any latency and compensating for it.Any settings I can fiddle with? Can't find anything. I did try using the ASIO4All driver which does have adjustable latency compensation in its settings, but this either wasn't enough or didn't do anything at all (not sure which!)If it's an issue with the driver for the UA-3FX, can anyone else recommend a good small interface which can record in time?it's a shame 'cos the UA-3FX actually sounds great. I haven't experienced this for myself, but apparently as of December 13th 2012 the activation service for Audition 3 and some other products has been disabled because of a security issue. So if you need to uninstall and reinstall Audition 3 you will have to follow the instructions on this page. [sept 2019 - Audition isn't available here any more - see below. This FAQ is only for reference now.]   It's important to note that the software you may have on a disk won't work any more - you have to use the version on the download page, and the serial number provided with it; no other combination will work.   If there are any other issues with this, please post comments on the appropriate forum.   Important update: Audition 3 isn't available any more. Upon advice from their legal team that we are not allowed to discuss the reasons for, Adobe have withdrawn any software downloads for almost all products other than the current version of them, or its -1. 

I have had no other issues with CC products apart from this. I have Adobe CS5.5 installed, is this the reason why it wont start?Thanks.

Hi Folks, I'm hoping you can help me. One of my instructors recorded a full e-Learning class on a Blue Yeti. Later, we found that the microphone was having issues. The problem is she put a couple of days of work into it. Here's a WAV snippetIt has a very underwater "tin room" sound to it. I'm wondering if anyone can offer advice to make it sound... well, passable. It doesn't have to be perfect. I have a little bit of experience with sound programs, but am still a beginner, so please take it easy on me. Any help would be super appreciated.

I, like many Audition users were disappointed to see many features stripped away when Audition 3 moved on to CS5.5. I was particularly frustrated that the convolution and vocoder effects were removed will these return in CS6? They are particularly useful tools for sound design (which is what I do), especially when creating transitions from one sound to another. I also thought the 'Generate..' effects were a major oversight, though I see a new version of 'generate tones' is to be in CS6, but what about 'Generate Noise'. Is it possible to have a full list of effects in CS6?
