I currently use my MacBook Pro camera for capturing facial movements. Does anyone have a product recommendation? I did upgrade to a Blue Yeti microphone for sound capture.
Can you spot any differences? Not everything is messed up, but this one was funky!
I have an octopus character, and I want it to float around the scene as it talks. What I really want to do is grab some kind of master dragger that moves the whole puppet, but I don't think that exists. Other solutions aren't perfect:1. I can animate Transform, but it seems like I can only animate X or Y at one time. Can I move the puppet diagonally?2. I can just move it over to After Effects and move the puppet around there, but then I don't get all my dangly bits moving in the right way. I want the tentacles to drag behind it and jiggle when it stops. For that, I have to move it within Character Animator.Special bonus request I don't think is possible: I'd love a "orient towards motion" option, so if I drag a character in a circle, it will actually do a flip instead of staying upright all the time.
Hi all,I'm having some problems with a walk cycle. I've created a seated character and am trying to use the walk cycle as profiles of him looking left and right. The model previously worked well however for some reason the trigger to look to the characters left isn't working the way I want it to. Jerry facing phone 3.puppet - Google Drive Here is the puppet. When pressing the left arrow key - the character moves in the way I want. However when pressing the right arrow, the frontal view doesn't disappear in the same manner as the other direction? Would love some help to spot why this problem is apparent! Alternatively - is there a better method to achieve this turning? Thanks Adobe community!
Hi , have been trying to create puppet using fairly largephotoshop files , ( 72 dpi but 406 mb 1500x1200px) but am getting this error message now in CA.Photoshop File error -25010Once it starts to appear even previous photoshop file which imported succesfully produce the same message.
So due to my own shortsightedness, i have a few puppets that weren't to scale in relation to one another when importing. When i scale them in Ch everything scales, is there a on/off way to stop the lines scaling whilst puppet scales like in illustrator?Alternatively, scaling them in illustrator will take seconds, but then all my rigging will have to be redone. Is there a way to scale the rigging to spread them out again to the re-scaled puppet or do i just need to suck it up and redistribute them all again haha.CheersRob
I'm trying to get a character built using an old photograph. The problem is the eyebrows. There's a very limited range available for them before they start showing the safety copy of the face underneath. I'd like to be able to stretch the face to follow the brows. Is there any way to do this real time on a face cam?
Is there a reason why Character Animator does not see my Razer RIPSAW game capture card as an audio device?OBS uses "Video Capture Device" which handles the audio just fine so I know I'm getting audio. FYI the RIPSAW converts HDMI inputs to USB3 to the computer. Game Capture Card - Razer Ripsaw I'm using this workflow to allow to record to my Blackmagic Cinema Camera then play that back to capture with Character Animator. I sure would like to just be able to point to a media file and capture that way!
Hi everyone!I've just purchased the Adobe Creative Cloud, and i really wanna try out the Character Animation software, but everytime i open up the software the "Camera & Microphone"-tab at the top right corner, tells me, that my camera is busy.... the microphone seems to work fine..I am working on a windows computer, and i've tried to reinstall the program, and restarting my computer, but the same message appears; "Camera busy".. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?Thank you in advance!
This was like step one when rigging my puppet but now im missing something- How do I keep the head from scaling when moving in and out of the camera? or at least tone it down or have the body react accordingly?
I've updated Adobe Character Animator and it's version 1.5I don't have the replays window or all the new example models in the start menuIs the latest version as shown here out yet?New Features Overview (Adobe Character Animator - October 2018) - YouTube
I imported artwork designed in Illustrator using the correct layer structure and when inside Character Animator the mouth moves continuously on its own, even while my mouth is closed. Any idea why it might be doing this? Thanks.
On Windows 10 I can do "Edit Original" for Adobe Illustrator files fine, but when trying for a puppet backed by a PSD file it does not work. It does not load up Photoshop.Further, when I double click on a PSD file in Windows Explorer it comes up with a list of choices to use. I pick Photoshop and click the "remember this choice" checkbox, but it still asks every time I double click the PSD file. I am guessing this is why "Edit Original" is not working. (Clicking on .ai files (Adobe Illustrator) works perfectly - its just PSD files.)Going via Control Panel, you can work your way through to binding file types based on extensions to default programs. But even after rebooting the computer, I cannot set the app to Adobe Photoshop for .psd files. I click on the "+ Choose a default" then click Photoshop from the popup list, but it remains on "+" (does not change to Photoshop). (I can change the default to PictureViewer - just not Photoshop.) Any ideas?
Hello everyone you good ? I have a question about saving my project which is I've finished my project and now I wanna save it as a video not as (Adobe Character Animator File) because my teachers don't have ( Adobe Character Animator ) and if I saved my project as (Adobe CH) it won't open at them so I wanna know how to save my project as Normal Video Format on windows so when I give it to anyone he can open it by their windows video option like when you download any video from internet as a normal video format so you or anyone can open it without needing any specific application .Example : When you Photoshop something and you're done you save your file as JPG not as PSD so it can be opened by everyone .That's what I mean .Thank You
Prior to the latest update when I set the strength property of a walk behavior to, for example, 1%, every aspect of the walk was affected, but now, after the latest update, it seems that the 'overall bouncing' of the puppet if is not affected by the strength property. Am I missing something or is this a bug?
Hi, I'm new to Character Animator so I apologize for asking simple questions. One, at one point my head would tilt and still be attached to the body. Now it's attached and won't tilt. It just sways with the body. Two, the body stretches and pulls when I move, what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!Dropbox - amy2.puppet
I forgot how to record the body movements, eye movements, blinks etc post computing lip sync. How do I record movements post lip sync? Thank you for your help
I created a rig that works perfectly for Right back, Right Profile, and Right Quarter... then mirrored the layers in photoshop and renamed right->left and left->right so everything is correct. The Left back works fine, but in Left Quarter and Left Profile, everything works fine except for ONE thing. The arms and the long hair pulls away from the body like they're not attached.I've checked everything, to no avail. I've rigged a dozen other characters this way, and haven't had this issue unless there were extra tags (something was mis-taggedas "head" or something). But, this rig has no such issues.I feel like something is tagging the photoshop layers that I can't seem to clean out of the file, because I even went so far as to delete all the LEFT rigging from the CA file, then delete all the LEFT layers in the PS file, then rebuild it all from scratch, and I ended up with the same exact issue. Here's a video of what it's doing -- Dropbox - RigIssues.mp4 Happy
Hi GuysUp until the recent update they were all finally walking perfectly, now all of them have walking issues (jumpings the worst but).Searched every walking post and tutorial, not to mention spent hours trying to work out the issue.I've attached the one with the biggest issues/highest jump. They're all 4 legged characters, although i tried setting them up again and only using the initial walk cycle for the first two legs and they still jump.I also tried individual walk cycles for each leg but then the body doesn't move at all which is almost as bad haha.If theres a way to get the body movement going when the individual legs have all the walk cycles, not just the back two (and front two having the master walk cycle) that would also fix the problem. So frustrating, since the new updates are all epic, except for the walk cycle havoc haha. Thanks all, really appreciate it Robbie
When doing multiple retakes is it necessary or wise to delete the old performance layers? There can get to be so many it gets difficult to navigate. Is there any easy way to do this and not delete the elements of your latest recording. Thanks!
Hi there, Thanks to the team for CH 2.0. I like the new features!I'm in the process of working on and rigging a puppet, but the pupils give me trouble. One sticks to the pupil range, the other does not. If I snap the eye gaze, the "unruly eye" is reigned in and they are fine, but I need more flexibility and more subtle eye movements. If I uncheck the eye gaze, one pupil goes beyond the "pupil range". I colored the pupil range in rose color in this sample, so it is easier to see. What I have tried:- check tagging 3 times. It seems fine. I see no differences between the right and left eye, so they should behave identically.- change the art work to see if changing the pupil size has any effect on the left pupil. It does not.I'm stuck or blind. Any fresh eyes seeing the problem? Here is the puppetDropbox - Herrman Hog Puppet.puppet
I used the Adobe Illustrator file with template blank layers.1. when my puppet blinks in CA its head gets squished and it also lifts off the ground. What can I look into to fix this?2. What can I do to get movement in the hair of the puppet when I sway back and forth? Thanks.
I have a character with an animated tail (similar to the cat example) and I want to have the tail cycle playing all the time. It works and works well. The tail has some 'expressions' that I want to assign midi triggers to, but I have trouble understanding how to do that. I would need to effectively hide the entire tail movement cycle, and show the expressive pose, and then the key is released, start the animation again (at any place in the cycle, at some point later maybe favoring a side). I have been trying to figure out the layer set up in photoshop to make this work, but I am confused as to the right way.Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Hello,I love the new Characterizer feature. My question or request is: can you setup a character from a video? For exemple, I would like to transform a video performance of someone I interviewed into a character puppet.Or I want to create a Michael Jackson puppet from various pictures of Michael Jackson where he is smiling, frowning, talking etc,etc...Does that make sense?
I am trying to edit a lip sync I have done from an audio file but the Visemes is greyed out as if no visemes have been produced? Any ideas as im pulling my hair out over this!
