FrameMaker

Framemaker is the latest 2020 version with the latest update. I had this same issue on the second row of the table but I was able to get rid of this white banding at the top and bottom of the cells by playing with the "Cell Margins" settings on the "Table Cell" section of the applied paragraph style. I think that the reason for being able to get rid of the white bands in those cells was that their font size was the same as the first row and also the same as the straddled cells in the first 2 columns. In this case, the font size in the second column which have these white bands is 9 points whereas the rest of the row has styles with 11 points sized fonts. I've played with the "Cell Margins" settings in the "Table Cell" section of the paragraph style but had no success. I've even have entered negative values but the white bands always do appear. I've also tried playing with the "Cell Padding" settings in the table style and again I had no success. Is it possible to add a graphic frame to a reference frame so that the graphic appears outside the column, next to the text, rather than above or below it? In the current template, images are placed in an anchored frame outside the column next to the text. I'd like to "automate" the process by adding a graphic frame to the reference frame containing the lines. Attached images may help illustrate my question.

I recently upgraded to framemaker 2020. when I used to save my book to pdf, the name of the book was the name of the pdf. Now when i save book as pdf, it defaults to "20".  How do I get it to default to the book name?

Hi. I have a little problem with a variable.i would like to recuperate the folder name, of my document, as value, to put it, on a master page.I tought it was a system variable <$dir>.... but it don't exist.Is it possible to create a user variable to get the content of the folder name?Thank You.JC

HiRunning FM2019 (Version: 15.0.3.603).  Steps I am performing:Save my FM-file.Save as Review PDF.Add a couple of simple "delete text"-comments using AcrobatImport PDF comments. Result: a lot of comments are imported with the wrong location. Seems to be offset 1-2 glyphs to the left for some reason. This makes the feature effetively useless for us: (In this screenshot the ending of the two words happen to both be "ære" but it happens with other words not containing those characters as well). It does not happen to all comments.No error messages.Comments are not shown as "misplaced" in the import summary. I've tried the new "Save as Review PDF" as well as printing to .ps and then manually running distiller (this is how we usually make PDF files). No change.I've tried exporting a tagged PDF directly to PDF using the new Publish-pod (not via distiller). This crashes framemaker when importing comments (Seriously? I am using FM 2020 (16.0.1). DITA 1.3. We have just installed the MathFlow editor and I have two usability issues:Every time that I start to edit a new equation, the editor defaults to a tiny magnification, requiring me to click on the magnify icon several times. Why is the magnification setting not saved between edits? Or a way to set some sort of default? I am guessing that this was never an issue with older, low resolution monitors, but with higher resolution monitors, the default magnification is too small.There does not appear to be a way to re-size the editing window. With long equations (and with the editing window magnified...) the equation does not fit in the window. This lack of functionality is awkward and frustrating. Is there a way to either enable re-sizing of the window, or to change the default editing window size? 

I am using Framemaker 2020, (16.0.1). Hi,I have a small problem with the fig element. Here is how I use it:If I use the flag MoveFigureTitleToFollowImage=1 in the ditafm-ouput.ini as it is per default in FM, the title of the image becomes tiny and the title numbering vanishes:+However if I set MoveFigureTitleToFollowImage to 0, the title size will be normal and the numbering is also there but the title appears on top of the image which is not nice:A remedy to avoid the change of the title would be to separate the image element from the fig element and put the image on top of the fig element. In other words to decouple the two. The bad thing about it is that the two may separate, e.g. if the image is at the end of the page, the title can move to the next page. Any idea how to solve this issue?

When I launch my FM 2020, I am asked twice in a row if I want to allow FM to make any changes to my system. I click "Yes" twice and launch the FM. Then when I click File, Edit, Insert, or Format menus, they collapse and disappear, and the focus jumps to the Review or Window menu. This is a weird behavior that I never experienced before. Restarting my PC machine does not help either. Can anyone tell me what's going on and how I can fix this so that menu drop-downs persist until I select an option? Thank you.

Hello, I want to create a 2 text columns document with some figures (graphics) that are wide and need to span over the 2 columns, and some that are less wide and can stay withing the columns. Hello fellows,I hope everybody is healthy and doing well!I have an event-driven script that is supposed be triggered upon a PostSaveDoc notification (see the code below). What the SaveAsFM13 function does is quite obvious. The SyncFM() function just copies the file to a network folder. The problem is that one function is executed only when the other one is not called. Both of them cannot be executed when saving a file. Why can't these functions coexist and be executed one after another? It should be possible using the pagesize.cfg, but according to my own experience and that of Klaus Daubes, that file does not work. Would anybody know whether there is another option? One would think that there was a list... somewhere. Which could be modified.

I created a tag in an older version of FrameMaker.  It displays fine in the FM file, but not in the .pdf file.    

I just installed TCS 2017 and opened FrameMaker 2017. When I use my cursor to click on either the File or Edit menu items, once I move my cursor to select an option from the menu the Help or Window menus open. All other menus work fine as I can click on them with my cursor and select from the menu of options. I can use my arrow keys to move up and down those menus, just not my cursor. Has anyone heard of this before and if so, is there a fix for it?

Hi All, I have a "product" attribute on an element that is set as a String in the EDD. I want to dynamically change it to a Strings type in the document. I have some code I have been playing with, but it is not quite ready for the world to see--and besides, it doesn't work. Has anyone done a task like this in ExtendScript or the FDK that could share some pointers? Thank you in advance. -Rick

HiWe have this addin built using the FDK. For some processes we need to check if a document is open before continuing. We found out that sometimes this check positive when the Welcome tab is open even if no other files are. Is there any way in the FDK to check specifically to check if the Welcome tab is visible, or even better a way to close the Welcome tab via code?

I've written a script that goes through a document and changes the InsetFile path of a graphic, but I can't get the document to update the displayed graphic without either:closing/re-opening the document, orgoing to the graphic's "Object Properties" and selecting "Apply" (the "Referenced File" text box already has the correct path). I tried using doc.Refresh(), with and without toggling app.Displaying, but the displayed graphic still didn't change. Is there a different method I should call?
