InDesign

There are multiple layers to my question. I have scoured Google for this, but no clear answer has come up about my specific situation, as most answers pertain to fixed layout epubs—and Adobe Support is rather vague. I need this explained to me in layman's terms please. Is there a way to display specialty (otf) fonts as they should correctly display in KDP? Removing obfuscation entirely seems to be the only way they show up in KDP (Adobe and IDPF's obfuscation does not work), and keeping obfuscation falls back to their Baskerville font.Is de-obfuscating allowable if you have an Adobe Fonts account?Is de-obfuscating end-user protected?If keeping obfuscation is the only way to go about this, is it even possible to display the font at all? If so, what component am I missing?  I have seen multiple ebooks display featured fonts in Kindle without me having to download fonts to the device. Furthermore, I have seen other book formatting agencies use specialty fonts via Kindl

The organization I work for has its services and content primarily on Publisher, and given it's now retiring, we need to convert just under 20,000 Publisher files to InDesign. Does anyone have a recommendation if there's a service we could find to possibly help us do this en masse?

Hi everyone, I’m exploring the Data Merge feature in InDesign to create personalized catalogs and invitations. I’d like to know the best way to set up my spreadsheet (CSV/Excel) and link it with my InDesign template for smooth merging. Are there any tips to avoid common formatting issues, especially with images and variable text fields? Any workflow suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I created a script for InDesign to skip "Ghosted" pages while continuing to automatically number pages in a document. We use this often in the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction industry to omit section tabs from the page count. I would like to share it with the A/E/C community, but do not know how to make it available beyond asking this forum. Does anyone know how to make this a readily availble resource or let Adobe InDesign know so that they can make it a readily availble feature?

I keep running into an issue where people have their default units set to different measurements and it keeps breaking my scripts. I would like to set the measurement at the beginning of each script and then change them back but nothing seems to work, does someone know how this can be done? 

Hi.I´d like to spruce up an index by adjusting overcrowded rows.Before: After:  The column is 55 mm wide and after each text there is a tab stop (right aligned, at 55 mm) with the period as a filler character. I want gaps of no more than three points (or a specified distance) between text and page numbers. A line break is inserted at the end of the line. A tab is inserted at the beginning of the next line. If there are more page numbers for a term (more than two lines in a paragraph), the same procedure is applied. My idea was to "do something" with regular expressions, but I have no idea how to check, capture, and move the page numbers.

When I update my modified links InDesign will be inconsistent with how the updated link is imported. Sometimes it will update the link with all of the visible layers, which includes the new layers and is what I want. However, sometimes, InDesign will either only show the old layers, only show the new layers, or a mix of both with some layers not visible. EXAMPLE: Original Link has 2 layers. I modify it to have 3 layers now. I double click to update the modified link. InDesign will update the link to have 1 old layer and the new layer or some other combination that is not all 3 layers total.Is there a way to fix this in order to make it consistent? Has anyone come across this before as well? Thanks.

When I open Data merge window in the New InDesgn 202 (v. 20.0) I cannot see the Fields listed in the window after I select a new .csv file. I am attaching a picture of the new version vs. the previous version of InDesign for the same file. Is this an issue with everyone? I am running Mac OS Sonoma 14.7 om an M1 Mac Mini.     <Title renamed by MOD>

I think I've asked this question before?I only want images to scale up or down, with the text box adjusting accordingly, but the font size remaining the same.Didn't I ask this question before? 

My client has an InDesign book (.indb) designed by a different designer. It has 4 sections and is 72 pages long. My client wants a printable PDF in printer spreads with bleed and crop marks. How do I make that for her? I have done it a million times when the entire document was just a plain InDesign file (.ind), but I have spent hours trying to get it right with the .indb file and sections.

Bonjour, une fenêtre flottante très utile pour moi (Rechercher/Remplacer) apparaît depuis hier en haut de mon écran. Ce qui me la rend inaccessible et impossible à déplacer. Savez-vous comment la déplacer par un autre moyen ? D'habitude, je réduits la taille de mon écran mais cette fois ça n'a rien débloqué. J'ai aussi essayé de mettre sur mon deuxième écran mais la fenêtre reste inaccessible.merci pour votre aide.

This includes older files that never had issues. I've done all the recommended steps — even uninstalled InDesign, losing created workspaces in the process. Clients are waiting. What is the solution, Adobe?

Hello. I'm trying to export a PDF from InDesign. All the markups are there (H1-H3). However, when I export the document, I have the following issues: The space between lines is read as paragraphsEach line is read as a paragraphHeaders not showing up When I use Adobe to remediate the document (essentially going back in and adding everything I'd already marked up), it will not let me edit the headings (I can still combine lines to a paragraph).Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

My account was switched from a student (personal account) to a business account when I graduated. However, even though it uses the same email for both accounts I can no longer update my Publish Online link for my portfolio. Its important for me to be able to use the same link because we have QR codes printed already that we can't change. Is this possible to be able to update the old link without reactivating my personal account?

Hi, I'm building a script for InDesign to check if any non-brand colours are used in the document. The script displays a palette/dialog and fetches all the swatches. The user then selects the required Brand colours and clicks the button to check any inconsistencies. The current script prompts the correct number of inconsistencies. The quick navigation dialog box perfectly shows the next object on clicking the 'Next' button. However, the script is not selecting any object. Since 10 minutes ago, all shared links are not working. Files are there, but the can't be opened. 

Hi, I worked on a document stored on Indesign Cloud to be able to share and sent it for commenting.One day the sharing link stopped working with an Error message 404.I followed the process here https://helpx.adobe.com/cz/indesign/kb/resolve-share-for-review.html and renamed the CoreSync folder in the Library. Since then I'm not even able to open the document since the synchronisation is broken completely.Don't know how to proceed and retrieve the document.By the pop-up window it is LocalContentSnycSuspened.Can someone help? 

Hi, (sorry for my bad english I am a french guy) I have a problem dealing with the numbered list in arabc. As you see on the screenshot, when I come to 10 and over, the arabic just write 01and not 10, 21 not 12 etc.. By the way, the gap between the first numbers is exactly what I wanted, but when I came to 10 and over the gap have been longer. What can I do ? thank you all. 

Our workflow with clients was to publish InDesign files online, collect all of their comments, implement, publish again....Now, since about a week ALL of our links are not working anymore and we get a 404 or 401. Sometimes, accessing those links in incognito browser works again, however even then the comments don't map to specific locations in the document. So, this is a serious issue for us. We trusted the online reviewing feature 100% and it made life so much easier. What is currently happening? Or other users also having this issue?

Every time I opne Indesign it crashes before opening. I have to unistall and install againg to make it work, but same problem will occur upon next use.

Hallo, ich arbeite seit über einem Jahrzehnt mit InDesign, aber das ist mir noch nicht untergekommen und ich frage mich, ob es Theorien gibt, wie das passieren kann (weil ich selbst keine habe):Ich habe ein Buchdokument, in dem 4 Doppelseiten als Musterseiten angelegt sind mit jeweils Seitenzahl und Kapiteltitel. Final habe ich die Datei gesammelt und dann ein Druck-pdf geschrieben. Da ist mir dann aufgefallen, dass die Seitenzahlen und Kapiteltitel fehlen und daraufhin das gesammelte Dokument kontrolliert. Die Musterseiten im gesammelten Dokument waren plötzlich leer. Es ist unmöglich, dass ich den Inhalt von 4 Doppel-Musterseiten versehentlich gelöscht habe, also muss ich davon ausgehen, dass beim Sammeln die Musterseiten nicht mitgenommen wurden. Export-Einstellung dafür gibt es meines wissens nicht. Hat jemand eine Idee, wie das passieren kann? Danke schon im Voraus.

This issue was brought up 5 days ago and has not been addressed despite a team member saying it was fixed. Creating a new post to hopefully gain some more traction.  Anyone figure out work arounds? Or is it a server issue Adobe has to fix?
