Hello. Our marketing department is using the latest version of InDesign (20.5) and encountering an error that says "This file is already open by another use or another application." For some, this occurs as soon as the file opens, and for others, it occurs after the file has been opened for a while. The files that are encountering this issue are not ones that someone else would have open at the same time. Instead, they are files saved to a local drive and files that are opened from an INDT in CC library. So far, we have tried rolling back to ID 20.4.2 but are still encountering the issue.
I just upgrade to a new computer using same Indesign version (current 2024) . when I try to print, I'm unable to choose the transparency flatener option since it is desactivated... When I open the same file on my previous computer using the same version of indesign, I have access to that drop down menusee attached image <Title renamed by MOD>
I have 1600+ assets in my library that currently need rebranding, varying from facts sheets to long winded financial services application forms. Looking for the quickest solution to the problem. New fonts to be replacing old across all docs. Also, new cover and back pages needed throughout. Are there any scripts that can help batch update this?
When creating a new object style, I want to simultaneously assign a shortcut key for it.However, I haven't found the corresponding properties. Please advise. I currently want to set the shortcut key to: Ctrl+Alt+Num2 https://www.indesignjs.de/extendscriptAPI/indesign-latest/#ObjectStyle.html
Hello, everyone. This is frustrating. It's not here? Isn't it called lineHeight?https://www.indesignjs.de/extendscriptAPI/indesign-latest/index.html#ParagraphStyle.html
Hi,Hope this is the right place to post and I have tried to find similar thread - but they're all a little different. I cant get an Adobe Font family to load in Indesign. Ive restarted eveything, relogged into CreativeC loud. Its working in Illustrator but not Indesign. Its really frsutrating. Im not trying to load my own fonts but trying to use one of yours. I dont get it. I dont necessarily think its a software/upgrade based issue. This has happened in the past. Its why i prefer to set up douments in Illustrator. I dont have any fonts of the same name loaded so there shouldnt be any conflicts. MAC: iMac 2017OS: Mac Sequoia 15.6.1Indesign: 20.5 Thank you for your time!Font (in this instance): Akzidenz-Grotesk Next
Hello everyone.I'm trying to export my ebook into a reflowable epub format. However, I'm running into some problems with the position of anchored images and, despite searching online for a few days, I've been unable to fix it. I'm using images for my chapter headers since there is a graphic in the chapter titles. I anchored the image to the space right BEFORE the first letter of the first word of each chapter. When exporting the file, I make sure "preserve appearance from layout" is selected and that the CSS Size is set "relative to text flow" and "align center" for object settings. However, for two of my chapters, the chapter header appears randomly AFTER the first paragraph instead of before it The others do not do this. I tried restarting the program, deleting the images and replacing them--neither worked. I had it show hidden characters to make sure it's anchored in the correct place, and even went to text threading to make sure it was flowing properly. It all seems right
Bonjour à tous. est-il possible de créer un chemin de fer (gestion de pages) dans indesign ? ou existe t'il un plugin ? Merci pour vos reponse.
Hello,For a campaign the company is working for I had created a document in InDesign, after closing it I encountered the next day InDesign closing immediately upon opening with the message that a serious error was detected. Conceding to that the document was corrupted/damaged and making the assumption that it could have been due to me saving the document to a shared folder in my company's Google Drive, I started a manual recovery by recreating the file on my device itself. After recreating it and opening the document again today I ran into the same issue. All other InDesign files I have are completely fine. Anyone have some insights into this problem? I am on InDesign 20.5 (have installed previous versions and the current beta to see if that helped – it did not)I am on MacOS Sequoia 15.6.1 (on a company managed device with local admin rights)
Am I dreaming? I thought I'd come across a keyboard shortcut involving the F3 key that cycled through the "change case" function -- possibly in conjunction with another key (cntrl, alt, shift?), but today it's not working. Maybe this is a keyboard shortcut in some other software and I've just gotten myself confused? Does anyone know anything about this? If this cycle-through feature doesn't exist in InDesign, it should, and if no one knows about this particular shortcut -- maybe I am dreaming -- I'll go add it to the feature request page.
The way IndDesign works, increases the file size each saving time. File become unbearable and difficult to process, even in fast computers... It would be nice to have a chance to reduce the file size without recurring to the 'save as' method, that, sometimes doensn't work either.
I am having an issue when trying to print a document from inDesign. The paper I use is unique (size and perforations) and I have it set up within the program but when I print, it comes out different. The margins look differnt and some of the text is cut off, even though it is all within the margins of the document in the program. Any suggestions to get it to print exactly as I see on my screen?
[moved from Creative Cloud desktop forum] I'm filing this bug here as I'm not sure if it's an InDesign bug or a Creative Cloud services bug. How to reproduce: -In Creative Cloud desktop app, locate an InDesign cloud document -Choose the Open in Web menu In the resulting page of the file, the Timeline icon doesn't appear: The user will need to go to the file list (by clicking Files, for example), click the file, and then the Timeline icon will appear as expected:
Check this idea out...Turn on Presentation Mode and leave it up in a second monitor while you work.Thoughts? Or is there already a way to do that?
Hello, I'm having a problem with Adobe InDesign. In a new document, I can type text normally, as expected. However, when I import an external image into an open InDesign document, the text appears thicker. There's no visible problem with the imported images, but the text is distorted; it appears bold or thicker than intended. I've done some checking. My document isn't corrupted, and the problem occurs even when I create a new document from scratch. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program, but the problem persists. There's no problem with the font files, but the same thing happens with other fonts. Laptop specifications:NVIDIA graphics card: GTX 1050Processor: Intel i7RAM: 32 GB Is there a solution to this?
when i try to download indesign it writes me that it is impossible, because of rusiia restriction. But I registreted in another country. What is possible to do in this case?
Has anyone been able to get InDesign to install on Windows on ARM? It's not listed in the Creative Cloud app. I can't install from the InDesign installer. I'm surprised it won't let me test it in emulation.
Is InDesign a book publishing program? Does it have all the capabilities that Pagemaker had? Is it advisable, producing a file for a reprint, to scan a book and apply the OCR software in Acrobat and then make the edits in InDesign?
Whenever I install new fonts from Adobe's font website, the fonts do not appear in the drop-down menu on InDesign. I have restarted my computer, forced sync, and ensured that InDesign is up to date. I have also installed all these fonts directly onto my computer through the Creative Cloud, and they still do not show up. This has been a problem four times now as I need to install new fonts for typesetting and book cover design regularly. Eventually, they do show up after hours, but that is not conducive to my work as these things need to be finished quickly. Is this a bug? Or this is an issue that I could somehow fix on my end? Thank you. <Title renamed by MOD>
InDesign is driving me insane. For work, our primary font is Interstate OTF (Regular, Bold, Black, Light, Italic). I work in a mac environment (iMac 27" 5k, macOS High Sierra, Adobe CC 2018), and have the font family installed in Font Book. The family works fine in Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects. However, InDesign is fussy. Sometimes I can use it fine with no issues. Other times, "Bold" just won't be in my list of usable fonts. So, I took others advice from this forum, and installed the fonts in the InDesign fonts folder. Same result. Please help!
How can I place text from word into indesign without losing the formatting?(all the bold/ italic/ paragraphs should still be there.
I've seen similar problems but the steps suggested don't seem to be working. Several of my pop-out panels are getting cut off at the top, rendering them unusable. The most recent issue is with the gradient tool. I can't use the sliders unless I position my cursor above the gradient bar in a very specific place and cannot adjust the center point, never mind change it from linear to radial. This is happening with another menu but I can't recall which right now. I am on Mac 15.6.1 Sequoia running INDD 20.5. No updates available. Have restarted INDD multiple times, please help. This is incredibly frustrating.
Good evenning! Can sombody advice me of the various subscription rates and forms on offer plus the respective services for each of the rates. Also share links. Thanks, Jack
I'm using the latest version of InDesign, I'm trying to make a fixed layout EPUB of a book for a client. It goes through the process like normal, but the first few pages are too big for the ebook window, and the fonts are all different weights. I made a fixed layout EPUB of the same book in May, and it was perfect. I have now tried the second book in the series, and again, the same result: the first few pages are too big, and the fonts are messed up. I have now tried a totally different book from a different publisher, and it's the same; the first page is too big, and the fonts (different from the other book) are also screwed. It's getting really frustrating, everything I change in the settings, and it produces the same epub. Can anyone help?
