InDesign

I have two book manuscripts in Indesign 2025..Both are complete.One is all text the other text and images.They were written and edited several times.Because they both were already in a book panel all changes were automatically made, corrected or updated in Indesign. Because of this, every file and chapter of both were saved and each folder now contains .indd and .idml files. There are no errors for either book.I created the covers for both books as separate files. Again, no errors.My questions: 1.Which files (.indd or .idml) do I use to package and export them in and how to do this?And 2. How do I package and export into PDF and For Print "with the covers"? Should the covers also be in the Book Panel? They should be in the same folder, right?Thanks to those in the know.

Each of these files has a swatch named "red", with the same name but different CMYK values.Steps to reproduce the issue (this problem occurs in all Mac versions of InDesign, Windows version is unknown).In a.indd, open the Find/Change window and enter some text to find, for example: "test".In the "Change Format" section, choose to change the character color to the "red" swatch.Execute the change.Up to this point, everything works normally.Next, open b.indd and repeat steps 1-3. This time, when you select the color swatch, an incremental number (starting from 2) appears after the color name (e.g., "red 2"). After executing the change, new swatches with these incremented names (e.g., "red 2", "red 3",...) are added to the Swatches panel.※ If you quit and restart the InDesign application before performing the operation in b.indd, this problem does not occur.Is this a bug?

Dear Adobe Support Team,I am experiencing a persistent issue with Adobe InDesign (Mac version) while working on a Greek language book. Despite having tested extensively, the problem remains unresolved.Issue Description:When typing or correcting Greek text containing accented vowels (e.g., the word "παρότι ήμουν ακόμα δώδεκα"), InDesign renders the accents incorrectly by duplicating or triplicating the accent marks. My InDesign app window is somehow under the OS menu bar at the top of my screen. I cannot see or use the red/yellow/green buttons to control the window nor can I move the window from my desktop to my monitor. It seems that it is just the way the app opens. I can sometimes correct the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign, but that doesn't work every time and, anyway, it's aggravating.Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm wondering if the following is possible without drudgerous work. If I wanted to take the very same image and paste it across 450 pages (225 spreads) so that it appears to travel when flipping the pages like a flipbook, how could I accomplish this without having to copy, paste in place, and then move each image one step at a time for every next page?Perhaps there's a way of quickly pasting-in-place 225 objects on the 225 left-hand pages, selecting them all, and using align and distribute to place them evenly across a predetermined expanse?Any ideas?Thanks! 

If I create an object – even a simple box – in ID 25, copy it and paste it into ID 24, I do not get an editable object. The colours are not copied either. I only get a box with a content, similar to a pixel image. The other way round is exactly the same. It's really no fun. ID 25 is still not ok and it doesn't work properly with 24.

I'm here with my Macbook Pro M3 Max with macOS Sequoia 15.5.I’m facing an issue that I'm unable to open my .indd file on my MacBook Pro, although the versions stored on the cloud open and work fine.Every time I try to open the local file, InDesign crashes and shuts down immediately.In this case, I've already update both creative cloud and inDesign, but it still did not fix the problem.Is there any way to solve this problem?

Jetzt ist es aber relativ Schwierig da die Richtigen Masse bzw Einzelteile zu finden. Hi, I'm working in a file where I need scale down content from a previous version. When I try to do that by doing command + shift or using the scale tool I get the attached error message. Why is this happening? I have no strokes that should be causing this. How can I fix it so I do not get the error message? Thanks! 

We are using Baskerville URW fontface in key Indesign documents (in an office that uses majority windows, but some macs) and are having intermittent problems of getting this font to load on one PC, and then later a different PC, despite it being packaged correctly. After the first time this error occured on PC 1, is was able to be fixed by logging out of adobe and back in. PC 2 opened the file and was able to load the font. Once PC 1 logged back into Adobe and was also able to load the font. Subsequently, PC 2 opens another indesign file using Baskerville URW, and this font will not load after trying the above trick. It will now load on PC 1 but not on PC 2. Once opening this same file on a Mac, and changing all the fonts to Baskerville, this is resolved for using this file on Mac, but means that the PC 1 cannot work on this file. We have tried downloading the font via adobe fonts to the CC library but this doesn't appear to help. Do you have advice on how to s

Hello!Once in a while, the Find/Change dialog finds text which it can't jump to. The search filter excludes master pages and everything that is locked or hidden. Preflight doesn't show that there is overset text. I have conditional text, but searching with all conditional text shown, it would still find that ominous overset text and I cannot figure out where it is.Any clues? TIA. 

Hallo zusammen Gestern wollte ich wie gewohnt einen PDF-Export aus InDesign starten. Leider kam dabei aber bei gewissen Seiten .pdf heraus sondern ein .202. Daher meine Frage: Was ist ein Adobe Acrobat Document (.202) und wieso wird es erstellt? Ich selbst habe leider ad-hoc keine Lösung dafür gefunden. Vielen Dank für jede Hilfe und Idee. Beste GrüsseChristian

Hello guys,I need your help. I use Indesign CC in german. My smart guides don't work, no matter what I try. They are activated but I don't see any guidelines when I hover over an object. I want to add an ancor point at the intersection of two paths but whenever I click the new ancor point isn't placed at the intersection. I don't see any smart guides at all

Hi we utilize InDesign Server to generat PDFs for our InDesign / InCopy workflow system. When a user checkes a InDesign file back into the system it generates a PDF for a web version of our workflow system.We have historically installed our font mangament software (Extensis) on the server and activate all the fonts. There are many fonts and generally it works, but we do run into issues were fonts are not picked up. Our support team restarts InDesign Server and sometimes deativates/activates fonts to get it to work again.I've suggested in the past to just put all the fonts in the InDesign Server fonts folder, but getting push back as they only want to utilize Extensis Connect for licensing issues etc. What is the officially supported recomendation for fonts on IDSThanks

Please can someone help?  In InDesign... the cursor does not immediately select an item until the mouse is moved away from the object. I think this may be a 'GPU Performance' issue but I cannot change the setting under Indesign > Preferences > GPU Performance > as it says 'Compatible GPU and Monitor not detected'. The Mac Mini is only a few months old and was working fine until a couple of days ago. I'm using an Apple display and have tried on an older monitor but this doesn't fix the issue. I have reset my InDesign preferences but this did nothing. Can anyone help please as it's driving me mad! 

Table of Content with Page number first. I am trying to get the page number before the Section Name in a TOC. What I would like to do is have the page numbers right align to a tab, then a tab between them so the Section Name align to a left tab. I can't figure out how to set up the styles to get it to work.  The page number is a Character style.In the TOC style I have the Page number and a Tab between the page number and the section. 

Hi adobe brain trust, For years I've been using the "show import options" check box on the 'Place' command to insert all pages of a PDF, or just a few select pages into empty frames. When I select either "All" or "Range" the dialog accepts that option - and in the past I've been able to place all the pages in rapid succession, in frames that have already been set up. Recently I am only able to place the first page in that range and then the command aborts. The command DOES still work, if I click anyone outside a frame.  I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue, or it's just me? Either way, does anyone have insight?   Thanks!   

I'm having a problem re-activating my copy of Adobe Indesign CS3 following a move to another PC; getting the "no connection" message.I had an on-line chat with support who directed me to a link whereby I could get a new serial no. and a new download of InDesign CS3.I was told to uninstall my current copy, then reinstall using my new download and new serial no., after which I could activate.I did all this but when it came to installing, there was no option to use my new serial no. Instead, on launching, it went straight to the activation screen telling me I now have four days left to activate!The telephone option doesn't work any more but I checked there and noted my old serial no. is still there which seems to indicate it is permanently stored somewhere in the registry?Any advice on how I can get round this problem, please?

For more than a week, InDesign has been stuck on startup, either on “Calling Late Initializers” or, at other times, “Starting Panels.” I have to force quit every time. Seit heute habe ichein kurioses Problem: Farbige Schriften werden bei Export in PDF (egal welche Version) plötzlich schwarz. Das ist sowohl bei 19.5 als auch bei ID 20.4.Ich arbeite auf einem Macbook Pro (M2) auf Ventura.Das Problem besteht, seit dem ich ID von 19.4 auf 19.5 geupdatet habe.Hat jemand irgendeine Idee, woran es liegen kann?Lösen kann ich es, in dem ich die Schriften in Pfade umwandle, was aber bei einem 60-Seiter unpraktisch ist.Es ist auch egal, ob zur Probe eine Schrift auf A4 oder Auszug aus dem 60-Seiter.
