For example, a character in my regular is determined by using a certain character on the filename. It may or may not be @.But that doesn't mean you can use @* for either case. It's not an assumption, it's that I have to determine which case to use based on whether the filename has the @ symbol or not. afterTheAtSymbol = /\@(.*)(\.[^\.]+)$/, afterTheAtSymbol = /\^(.*)(\.[^\.]+)$/,
The code below, which I tested with alter,The left popup is "empty". The right popup is [objet charater]. This shows that there are difference. Since it is different, the choice can be judged. But when I use if(!qz===''), It always prompts (!qz===‘’) with a result of false. What do I have to write "if ( )" to get it right? Another problem:If an @ is found, and there is only one, also execute the subsequent code.If the loop does not find an @, it prompts alert(“No one @”).How to write this?Thank you very much. for (var h = 0, k = 0; h < sa.length; h++) { if ("TextFrame" == sa[h].constructor.name) { if (sa[h].overflows) { sa[h].fit(FitOptions.FRAME_TO_CONTENT) } //alert(sa[h]); var qz = getGrepSearch("@", sa[h]); alert(qz); alert((!qz === '')); //for (var k = 0; k < sa.length; k++)
Recently updated to InDesign 20.1. When I click on any box or shape, text or picture it takes 10-15 seconds before it shows that it is selected. Sometimes I can move/edit the box although it doesn't have the blue lines indicating it is selected. Other times, I can not. Selecting multiple items often crashes InDesign. Today I selected to text boxes and a picture. Crash. As a result to the time killing aspect of the update, I have had no choice but to revert to InDesign 2024. (19.5.2), which you might imagine, is also an inconvenience. I am running Sonoma 14.4.1 on M1, 2021 iMac with 16 Gb Ram.
I have installed the beta version of InDesign to try the feature to convert PDF to InDesign files. When trying to open any PDF, InDesign won't do anything. In my team, one of my coworkers can open a PDF, while the other has a similar problem. It starts to analyze the file, but after that, it closes. There is any reason why it works for some of us, but not for the rest?
Hi , how are you allI want a script that cut selected text from me , and paste it in a new text frame at the exact place of the selected text without changing anything in its format or placeThanks

Hi, I received this message when uploading my reflow epub file to Draft2Digital. I don't even know why it is encrypted or how to remove it...any thoughts?Warning - You have submitted an encrypted ePub. If the character you're looking for is in the overflow text, findWhat won't help.Any ideas? var queries = [ { findWhat: '@', objectStyleName: "CapCenter"}, ];Maybe have the overflow text expand first in the same text box?
I've been trying to solve this very annoying issue all afternoon. I'm working on a document that we update annually, so the file I'm working from is a 2019 file. I wanted to use the new review feature to let other memebers of my team know which information I needed them to update for me. Unfortunately, all my comments show up on the web portal as "unmapped", even though show up as linked to the annotations in my InDesign document. A previous thread suggested saving to an IDML format and opening the IDML so the document can be a 2020 file. That workaround did not work for me. I decided to create a new document, upload it for review and test to see if I could get comments to link. The blank document successfully took annotations and pins, so I copy and pasted the first two pages of my document in and tested the comments again. Again, the annotation linked to the comment, so I added the other 20 pages of my document, updated the link, and tested again. The third test annotation linke
In the sample Adobe script for InDesign, SplitStory.jsx, there is a note: "Any overset text at the end of the story will be deleted." This seems to be not true, at least in the most recent versions of InDesign (I tried it on InD 19.5.4 and 20.4.1, on Windows 11): the "duplicate" method of the TextFrame class copies also the overset text in the duplicated frame. The sample script is from 2009, so I guess that sometime between there and now the application's behavior changed. Do you know the InDesign version when this happened, or where to find this information? I tried to look for the release notes of the old versions of the program, but the links in this page (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/indesign-releasenotes.html) are all redirected to the release notes of the latest version.
I'm setting English text in Scala Pro, which has a Stylistic Set that makes the "1" look like a "1" rather than the default "I" for Old Style Figures. So far so good. But, if you change the hyphenation to "No Language", like you would when setting URLs, the number "1"s change back to "I"s. Is there a reason for this? Seems like a bug, no?
I have worked on it for days and its not working, what can I do, please help me out
The client wants the box to not be filled (empty) when the PDF form is first opened.I took a shortcut and used two spaces " " to make the first field appear blank. What is the proper way to do this?
Greetings, as of today, every time I attempt to use the generative AI feature in the contextual task bar I get a pop-up prompting me to check my available credits (I have 6000 credits avail.) and then I'm locked out of the app. I can't work, I can't cancel out or close out of the popup window. I have to force quit and then restart — but the same thing happens again if I want to use the AI features. Super annoying. Can you pls advise. I'm all up to date on Adobe app installs. currently on a Mac Mini with an M2 Pro chip and current OS. Thanks.
I have two book manuscripts in Indesign 2025..Both are complete. One is all text the other text and images. They were written and edited several times.Because they both were already in a book panel all changes were automatically made, corrected or updated in Indesign. Because of this, every file and chapter of both were saved and each folder now contains .indd and .idml files. There are no errors for either book.I created the covers for both books as separate files. Again, no errors. My questions: 1.Which files (.indd or .idml) do I use to package and export them in and how to do this? And 2. How do I package and export into PDF and For Print "with the covers"? Should the covers also be in the Book Panel? They should be in the same folder, right? Thanks to those in the know.
I have two InDesign files: a.indd and b.indd. Each of these files has a swatch named "red", with the same name but different CMYK values.Steps to reproduce the issue (this problem occurs in all Mac versions of InDesign, Windows version is unknown). In a.indd, open the Find/Change window and enter some text to find, for example: "test".In the "Change Format" section, choose to change the character color to the "red" swatch.Execute the change.Up to this point, everything works normally.Next, open b.indd and repeat steps 1-3. This time, when you select the color swatch, an incremental number (starting from 2) appears after the color name (e.g., "red 2"). After executing the change, new swatches with these incremented names (e.g., "red 2", "red 3",...) are added to the Swatches panel.※ If you quit and restart the InDesign application before performing the operation in b.indd, this problem does not occur. Is this a bug?
Dear Adobe Support Team,I am experiencing a persistent issue with Adobe InDesign (Mac version) while working on a Greek language book. Despite having tested extensively, the problem remains unresolved.Issue Description:When typing or correcting Greek text containing accented vowels (e.g., the word "παρότι ήμουν ακόμα δώδεκα"), InDesign renders the accents incorrectly by duplicating or triplicating the accent marks. Examples of incorrect rendering include:"παρ΄΄ότι΄ ΄ήμουν ακόμα ΄δ΄ώδεκα"where the accents appear as multiple apostrophe-like marks attached to vowels. This issue appears consistently across different users with the same InDesign version and on macOS.Environment:macOS (Sequoia 15.4.1, but the problem exested with previous MacOS versions)Adobe InDesign (Latest version used, but the problem exists also in InDesign 2024)Greek keyboard layout activeDocument uses Times New Roman font (also tested with Minion Pro)Adobe Paragraph Composer enabledLanguage set to GreekWorld-Ready Comp
My InDesign app window is somehow under the OS menu bar at the top of my screen. I cannot see or use the red/yellow/green buttons to control the window nor can I move the window from my desktop to my monitor. It seems that it is just the way the app opens. I can sometimes correct the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign, but that doesn't work every time and, anyway, it's aggravating.Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'm wondering if the following is possible without drudgerous work. If I wanted to take the very same image and paste it across 450 pages (225 spreads) so that it appears to travel when flipping the pages like a flipbook, how could I accomplish this without having to copy, paste in place, and then move each image one step at a time for every next page?Perhaps there's a way of quickly pasting-in-place 225 objects on the 225 left-hand pages, selecting them all, and using align and distribute to place them evenly across a predetermined expanse?Any ideas? Thanks!
If I create an object – even a simple box – in ID 25, copy it and paste it into ID 24, I do not get an editable object. The colours are not copied either. I only get a box with a content, similar to a pixel image. The other way round is exactly the same. It's really no fun. ID 25 is still not ok and it doesn't work properly with 24.
I'm here with my Macbook Pro M3 Max with macOS Sequoia 15.5.I’m facing an issue that I'm unable to open my .indd file on my MacBook Pro, although the versions stored on the cloud open and work fine.Every time I try to open the local file, InDesign crashes and shuts down immediately. In this case, I've already update both creative cloud and inDesign, but it still did not fix the problem. Is there any way to solve this problem?
Hello there,Would anyone know what the blue and white marks around the 'get in touch' button (on screen below) mean?I myself got it to this stage, but I'm not sure how and not sure how to undo it now either 😅Would be grateful for advice of someone who can actually decipher what the lines mean and how to undo.Thank you ❤️

Hi, I'm working in a file where I need scale down content from a previous version. When I try to do that by doing command + shift or using the scale tool I get the attached error message. Why is this happening? I have no strokes that should be causing this. How can I fix it so I do not get the error message? Thanks!
