I probably need another 'master' to cover the middle spread of my magazine, but I could use help.See what I see in Indesign versus what I see in the Exported PDF.What do I do to make the Centerfold of the pdf match the spread in InDesign?InDesign on top, Exported PDF below.
Hello, Community Experts. Please guide me with the following: I want to configure a paragraph style that has the appearance of the attached image, which is composed by a text frame and a geometric figure, both independent of each other, with the disadvantage that when modifying the text, the geometric figure must be manually modified to maintain the proportions, with the implications in various resources such as time. Using the Paragraph Shadow tool, I have tried to generate a style that automatically adapts as the text is modified, but I have not found it possible, because when configuring the measures of the paragraph shadow, its dimensions remain the same when the text is modified, which generates, 1.- much white space, or that the text enters the gray area, and 2.- in Corner Size and Shape, within its options, I do not see one that allows me to only modify the upper left corner in order to generate the geometric figure that I need. In Shear X Angle: it a
I'm really frustrated. I've found so much conflicting information online, and nothing I do in InDesign produces an accessible PDF after exporting. I have tried setting the reading order via the Articles panel. I opened the PDF in Adobe Acrobat and the reading order was utterly wrong. I was then told to use the Structure panel and order content that way whilst tagging all objects, but the exported PDF looks exactly the same in Acrobat, with all objects scrambled in the reading order. Please provide some simple, step-by-step instructions on how to set up the reading order in InDesign so that, when I open it in Acrobat, the reading order will actually make sense. What approach has produced screen reader-accessible PDFs in your work? What has provably worked for you? I am working with a document that has body copy, images, image captions, headings, sub-headings, etc.
Hi!I'm using Indesign 2023 and the logo is not as clear as it should be. The .ai is clearer than the .jpg.I'm not sure why... I created the logo in Adobe Illustrator and created outlines for the fonts and then saved it as .ai and saved another one as .jpg. I thought jpgs are best to use in print media. But there is a fuzziness to the edges of the font. The .ai is crisp and clear. I'm not sure why this is happening I set it up in Indesign and converted it to a pdf. Will printers take an image .ai when going to press?
I can't move objects using the Selection Tool, instead it creates a Snippet every time I click on it and try to drag it to move it. I have tried retarting my computer, opening a new file, and creating a new page but each time i try to insert a photo and try to move it around the page, it creates a snippet and i cannot move it. I have tried updating indesign but nothing is working. I can resize the image and change the picture, but cannot click and drag the frame. Please help!Attached is what happens when i go to move the image and what the snippet looks like
Since today, when I try to move an object, the space between my cursor and the actual selecten object is really big. This makes it really hard to move objects and get them in the place I want them to be. I have already tried restarting my computer, restarting indesign and deleting and re-downloading indesign. Help me!

Question for the Community:Is it possible to trim or adjust video content directly within InDesign's Media panel when exporting to an Interactive PDF?The goal is to have control over where the video starts and ends within the existing content. This functionality has been a standard feature in PowerPoint for years, and I’m curious if there’s a similar option in InDesign or any potential workarounds.Looking forward to hearing your insights and suggestions!
Hi guys, I have the following issue and absolute no clue how to fix it.When I start InDesign it crashes. It might be the document but its not that big at all although I have many pictures in it.iMac is a 24", M1, 2021, 16 GB, macOS Sequoia Version 15.3.1 THANKS for your help!!! -------------------------------------Translated Report (Full Report Below)-------------------------------------Process: Adobe InDesign 2025 [54161]Path: /Applications/Adobe InDesign 2025/Adobe InDesign 2025.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe InDesign 2025Identifier: com.adobe.InDesignVersion: 20.1.0.71 (20100)Code Type: ARM-64 (Native)Parent Process: launchd [1]User ID: 501Date/Time: 2025-02-13 11:28:01.2113 +0100OS Version: macOS 15.3.1 (24D70)Report Version: 12Anonymous UUID: 5B642BB2-D7D9-2BF4-9E9F-0BF12F443783Sleep/Wake UUID: 006E743C-E97C-4E0E-8AD1-F24A04C3932FTime Awake Since Boot: 100000 secondsTime Since Wake: 1864 secondsSystem Integrity Protection: enabledCrashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: co
I created a math-related book (now published) in InDesign where the cover and back cover are peppered with some relatively-sophisticated, intentionally-faint math graphics (see the attachment). The math graphics were generated via MS-Word (for "Equation") and/or MS-PowerPoint (for lines, circles, etc.) and subsequently JPEG'd for placement into InDesign (MS-Word/PowerPoint > Equation > JPEG > InDesign > File > Place...). The only problem I'm having is that the print quality (from the vendor) of the math graphics is inconsistent; one set of math graphics is clearer than another. Is there a better way to do this? Where else can I generate professional-looking math graphics, as one would see in a calculus textbook, for example, for InDesign incorporation so as to achieve more consistent print quality and clarity?
If I open a file directly from my desktop when InDesign is closed, or open InDesign from my taskbar, the selection arrows do not seem to work. The cursor remains stuck as something like the Free Transform icon. If I select an object, I can move it using the directional arrows, or by typing in the X Y positioning. But if I use the Creative Cloud app to open InDesign first, then I can either open files from my browser window or File>Open with no trouble. This only seems to happen on PCs, I've replicated on two Windows 10 PCs, has affected two coworkers as well. MacOS does not seem to have this issue.
I have the InDesign 20 and everytime I try to move a table, it crashes completly. I have no idea what is happening, the document is not that big.Yes, I tried to clean the preferences, Reinstall, I don't have any plugins, it is update in my windows 11, my computer is good enough. I can't see any way to run this app. Can somebody help me? Thank you.
Problem moving objects. Error symbol appears and when I release the mouse the object jumps off the page. I have the same problem when I move layers, pages, etc. I feel like something is "locked". I have restarted, updated software, etc. But the problem persists.
There is a shape from a menu whenever I open Indesign, how do I remove this shape?
I'm using a script to merge multiple lines into one paragraph. This is the start of a paragraph. This line needs running back. This line needs running back. Result: This is the start of a paragraph. This line needs running back. This line needs running back. I have code to produce this and it works perfectly. However, when there are characters that are bold or use a bold character style, when merged the bold characters are not retained or preserved. I am attempting to use a custom indexof function (as i know idnesign does not support indexof) to try and match the characters or words when they shift position from their line to a different one. For whatever reason i just can't get this to work. Does anyone have any suggestions i can feed to chatgpt as im inexperienced with code. Please see below code that im using. Just to note, the code only works within the defined paragraph styles CAUTION, WARNING or NOTE. Thanks,// Custom indexOf function for wor
Question: How do I "constrain" a fillable text box in InDesign to allow only 12 spaced-out numbers to fit inside. I dont want to have to make 12 individual buttons for each number to go in. Is there an easier solution? Answer: In InDesign, no, you cannot adjust kerning or divide the box into columns to fit the box. However, you can export your form into an Interactive PDF and set constraints in Adobe Acrobat Pro.Export your document from InDesign as an Interactive PDF. Open it in Adobe Acrobat Pro. Use the "Create a Form" function to modify the fillable fields generated from InDesign. In edit more, right-click the box you would like to modify. From here, go to Properties > Options > Left Alignment, Comb of (number of characters you want to fit into box) characters. Now, the box will evenly distribute the number of characters you want into the interactive box - without needing to make individual fields. 🙂
I've got an InDesign file with dozens of pages which I need to export as separate pages through a script. That part works fine but what I would like to do is name the exporting files after the content of a specific textframe on each page. The textframe is the only frame on a separate layer. What I currently have is this:var _doc = app.activeDocument; var _rangeFirst = parseInt(_range[0]) - 1; var _rangeLast = parseInt(_range[_range.length - 1]); var _textFrames = _doc.layers.item('myLayer').textFrames; var _naming; for (var k = _rangeFirst; k < _rangeLast; k++) { _naming = _doc.pages[k].pageItems[{itemLayer : 'myLayer'}].textFrames[0].contents; alert(_naming) }I know that pageItems[{itemLayer : 'myLayer'}] does not work, VSC has been quite vocal about that ;). What is the correct syntax in this case? Any help is much appreciated.
What is the Custom configuration folder because i want to change this path any script available ?
Every time I reinstall ID, the shortcuts set for the scripts are lost. If the script is still there and the name hasn't changed, the shortcuts should remain. It wastes a lot of time to reset them every time, and they can't be migrated. It's a bit unscientific. Is there a solution for this.Thank you.
Merci
I was in the middle of exporting some files on tuesday and after about five files, indesign crashed trying to export. It has since continued to crash (no error messages, no spinning color wheel), every time I try to export. Yesterday I discovered the same happens when I try to package files. I'm on a MacOS running Monterey 12.5 (updated early this week) I've tried rebooting, uninstalling & reinstalling indesign, I ran a deep scan on cleanmymac...all to no avail. I have to get on my second computer to be able to export or package anything and it's getting really time consuming as that machine is slower. I have lots of deadlines and need to be able to use indesign without this happening. Are there any fixes for this?
