I just published my 468-page 8.5” by 11” book with over 1,000 illustrations. It was designed in InDesign using bleed, margin, gutter settings, text anchoring with word wrap, 27 object styles, subtle object style overrides, image groupings,  paragraph styles, character styles and more. I now want to know how to start the process of Kindle and other ePub conversion. It seems that trying to work in the current document setup, which was tailored for print, would be very awkward. I downloaded Kindle Previewer and Adobe Digital Editions for previewing my edits, but what about InDesign workflow and document setup? Any suggestions to make this process easier?Thanks!

I have been trying to create a threaded table in InDesign.I created the original table and then struggled to thread it into another frame.  After many attempts I managed it but have no idea how. Threading works fine through these two frames but now I want to extend to a further frame. Whichever way I try it just won’t work. When I try to add rows at the bottom of the table I don’t get an overset text indicator, the new rows appear OVER THE TOP of the existing table. By enlarging the frame widthways the new rows then space out to the side within the enlarged frame which is not what I want.I have tried creating a new frame first and then linking the frames by clicking the out point of the first frame to load content and then placing into the new frame. This links the frames but does not load any of the table or text.If I load the content and then just place on the blank page a new linked frame is created but again no table or text within it.Is the fact that I don’t see an overset text in

I use InDesign to create our church bulletins each week, and we include several images and QR codes (not generated by InDesign, but imported as images). After I complete and edit everything, I created a “print booklet” and email it to our office administrator. But beginning in January, we have had trouble with a single QR code. It shows up on my computer, but when I email it to her all of a sudden the file shows a white circle where the QR code used to be. All of the other images appear to be fine. I have tried re-placing the QR code, generating a new QR code and placing the new image, embedding the image. None of it seems to work. What’s going on and how do I fix it?

Does anyone have any practical observations about working with Projects in InDesign 2026?Can I File > Package files and load them into a Projects folder for sharing?Is it limited to only files that are already cloud-based?I can find no clear information in the helpx so far.

Hi there,I was part of the discussion about the undo problem on In Design, but for some reason when i click the link that comes to my email (Re: InDesign Undo history clears itself without user action) i am redirected to this page (https://community.adobe.com/community#M648723), what is the problem?

I have an indesign project that is about 13-16MB.  I'm gone through and decreased the size of all the jpegs so they are all under 500mb in the file.  I have a few pdf's in the file that are 500-1,000 MB. When I export, I have it set to downsize to 72 PPI but I have the quality set at maximum.  If I decrease that too much, than the quality just isn't as good.  When I do all of that my PDF is still about 7MB.  From there I've optimized the PDF and I've also tried to reduce the PDF size and that only gets it down to about 6MB.  Is there something else that I'm missing.  I've looked at some settings and it shows that my content streams are about 50% which is the same as my images.  Is there something I can do to decrease that.  I basically have text, some arrows, lines, and a table in my document and then the rest is jpegs and a few pdfs.  Are the arrows/lines causing that high content stream or would it be the PDF's inside the document.

Windows 11, updated / Intel Ultimate 9 @ 3.7 / 96 Gig RAM / Nvidia RTX 5080 Indesign CC2026 l(latest version) goes through the starting sequence to the screen reached when the app startup is complete – with hourglass on and the app is non-responsive. I had to leave the computer for an hour and when I came back, the stall was still in effect.• I deleted preferences and restarted, and got the same results• I uninstalled, reinstalled and got the same results• I uninstalled and reinstalled one version back, and got the same results.• Everything was working fine yesterday.I am bumping a deadline and appreciate any and all help.Thanks to those who know more than me,Joe

Hi,I’m running into an issue using the Extendscript Debugger plugin in VsCode. When debugging a script and using breakpoints, I’m able to jump to the next breakpoint, but a spinning beach ball prevents me from accessing the GUI from VsCode, preventing me from adding watch variables or adding breakpoints. How do I fix this?I’m using the latest version of the plugin from the GitHub Repo, on Os X 26.2, using Indesign 2025/2026, VsCode 1.103.2, on an Apple M3.Thank you. 

I make business cards from Publisher. It has the ability to make multiple copies per sheet: The file is 3.5x2 inches with one business card. When printing, I select “multiple copies per sheet” and “10 copies.” It looks like this: I have tried in Acrobat, InDesign and Illustrator to find a way to make 10 copies on a sheet from one 3.5x2 inch file. I keep hearing that the only way to do it is to start with an 8.5x11 document, make one 3.5x2 inch business card and duplicate it 9 more times. We need an easy way to do it, like Publisher. Any suggestions?

My InDesign file suddenly started listing missing images to a page that doesn’t exist. I am the only person who has ever worked on this file. These images weren’t listed in the links panel yesterday when I closed the file but they appeared this morning when I opened it.

The printer changed their preferred profile, so now I have to convert 7 indd files and the indb in which they are gathered. I don’t have the time to to start over, changing all 7 indd file color settings and then creating a new indb. If I change the current indb color settings and let ID match the individual files, I get “corrupted file” error messages and ID shuts down. What should I do?With appreciation for the help of community members more experienced than I.

When I open an InDesign document in InCopy, I get a warning that says, “The Document uses fonts that are either currently unavailable on your computer or no longer supported by InDesign. Closing the dialog box will substitute the missing fonts with the default font until the original fonts become available. Adobe fonts couldn’t find any matching fonts.”I go into the “Replace Fonts” and when I try to replace the fonts I have an error box show up that says, “The selected font is applied to hidden conditional text, or applied to text in a locked story, or is part of a composite font. Some instances of the font may not be found, or may not be changed.” In Creative Cloud added fonts, the font that has an error says, “Font Conflict. A font with the same name is already installed...” I’ve tried following the troubleshoot guide, readding, uploading, restarting Creative Clound and signing in and out. I’ve looked for the font in C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CoreSync\plugins\livety

I use Adobe inDesign in pallet mode, so not 'Application Frame' mode, with toolbars at the top and left docked and pallets docked to the right. Click the the expand traffic light button in the top left used to just expand the window so that it still showed the dock at the bottom and the pallets to the right, if they inadvertently went behind the pallets or dock. Now it just goes full screen mode which I don't use and is useless for a pallet rich application like InDesign, and is impossible to get out of, unless you move & undock the toolbars out of the way so that when you move your mouse to the top, the window buttons reappear. This is so broken it's unbelivable you've shipped it like this. The only fix for this is to go into Application Frame mode which doesn't work for me because I need to see the Finder desktop when there's no documents open. It's a bug because holding down the option key and hovering over the expand button, changes it into a + sign but

Hi, Dear Friends! I need to change the font size of a certain letter, but also its vowels (in Hebrew). If i just search for the desired leter it doesnt help for the vowels, which are usually 1 diacritic AFTER the letter itself, but could be up to 4 diacritics. I guess the way to do this would be to search for CHAR + anything after it until, but not including the next char.But alas, I could not write grep expressions even if my life depended on it…Can anyone help?TIA to all! Thank you, and have a good day!Susan Flamingo

Hi all! It seems like no matter what I do, when I place anything from my CC Library into InDesign it immediately corrupts the file and I’m unable to save. Then, when I close and reopen the app I’m prompted to recover the file, but doing so only makes it crash and send a report to Adobe. This is my first time using the CC Library, so is there something I’m fundamentally missing? I’ve found it’s the only way I can get the graphics I made in Illustrator over to InDesign without losing quality. Help! (Both apps are fully up to date)

Hi, Dear Friends!I see ID puts all endnotes from all stories in the same text frame at the end of the doc. I am Ok with that but I would like each EN to show “where it is coming from”So if the EN was inserted in text fram “foo1” it should insert and endnote witht refernce number folowed by the text “foo1” and look like this:[foo1] here i write the endnote. Windows 11 Pro with 48 GB of RAMInDesign 20.4.1InDesign is giving me fits. Yesterday it would not recognize certain fonts. So I downgraded from version 20.5 to 20.4.1. That fixed the font problem.However, now I have a new problem. I can only Undo ONE TIME, or at the most (occasionally 2).Troubleshooting so far: I have restarted InDesign.Restarted the computer.Rebuilt preferences and cache using this guide:https://www.rockymountaintraining.com/adobe-indesign-rebuilding-preferences-cache/Does anyone know what else I can try to get my unlimited Undos back?I work at a very busy print shop and this nonsense is just killing me. Any help very much appreciated. UPDATE: it also doesn't seem to want to remember settings, like "Show Import Options" when placing a file. Every time I place a new file I have to check that box--it used to remember my last choice on that.

Hello, I’ve set my text frame to have 2 columns in the text frame options, but I’m unsure how to adjust only one column. I’d like one column to be shorter than the other, but I can’t select them individually since they’re treated as a single object due to the text frame settings. Do I need to create a new text frame with a single column, or is there a way to adjust the columns separately after the fact? Thanks!

Hi, not sure if I’m having an off day or not here. I asked a college and they were also puzzled. I’m placing high resolution images into Indesign.The document size without a doubt is 1920x1080 px.The Images are large stock images, bigger than this document size at 300ppi.When placed at 100% these images are smaller than the document? For example: One image is 3840x2160 px at 300ppi. When placed into a 1920x1080px document making it the full page size indesign says it is 208.3% scaled, and the effective ppi is 144?  This makes no sense, the effective ppi should exceed 300, and the scale should be less than 100%?!  See link panel and item selection image for details.Please help. 

I’m new to InDesign, but have made books in other products. I have chapters all made with the same template and parent settings. I put them in a book. I want the chapters to start on odd or even pages, depending on how the chapters lay out. The chapters that start on odd pages look great. But the ones that start on even pages have the inner and outer margins backwards. Is there a way to set up my parents so a chapter will have the margin (and page headers and the like) be correct for whether it winds up starting on the right or the left? (So that if I add a page, say, to an early chapter, the change ripples correctly through the rest of the chapters.) I’ve attached my first test case with four chapters. Note the third one, “Illness and Injuries” starts on the left, but the margins are set for a right side page. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,I'm working on migrating my InDesign plugin from the 2025 SDK to the newly released InDesign 2026 SDK. I’m using Xcode 16.2 on macOS and attempting to rebuild the plugin against the latest SDK.However, I'm encountering the following compilation error: "No member named 'data' in 'K2Vector<TabStop>'" This error is occurring in TabStop.h at these lines: const TabStop* begin() const{ return fSortedTable.data(); }/** */const TabStop* end() const{ return fSortedTable.data() + fSortedTable.size(); } Has the K2Vector interface changed in the 2026 SDK? Or is there some new header, typedef, or setting I'm missing?Any guidance on how to resolve this or properly access the internal buffer of a K2Vector in the new SDK would be greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance!Chetan
