Since the update, InDesign 21.4.1has been crashing frequently while I’m working. Gradients often do not work, especially when I copy and paste elements from another file—something that worked perfectly before the update.The cursor frequently indicates that something is loading, but nothing happens. InDesign then becomes unresponsive and cannot be closed normally, so every time I have to force-close it through Task Manager and restart it, sometimes several times.I’m very disappointed with this update. I’m not working on particularly large or complex files, yet InDesign still crashes repeatedly in the middle of my projects.

hi, how can i use InDesign Beta’s AI assistant to create a layout for a magazine? i want the assistant’s help in organizing text & images in the layout i’ve created. has anyone been able to do this? i’m very new to graphic design/InDesign, so i don’t know much yet. thank you :)

Ever since I updated to Indesign 2026, anytime I place an illustrator file, there is a fairly high chance that one or more of the layers refuses to display or the file will be in a rolled back state. Its not just a visual glitch, when I export to PDF, the placed file will still not show what its supposed to. It seems to happen more frequently when the illustrator file is larger, but I’ve also had it happen on tiny files. The ONLY fix I’ve found so far is to save the illustrator file as a PDF and import that.

No cambia, no se arregla, puedo seguir manipulando objetos y textos, pero estos no aparecen, ej, copio y pego un texto y pareciera que se realiza la acción, pero no se despliega nada.Cierro el documento y el programa se queda congelado, no se puede cerrar normalmente y tengo que resetearlo desde el administrador de tareas. Solo así se vuelve a resetear y funciona bien hasta que tengo la necesidad de colocar otra imagen y pasa lo mismo y lo mismo y lo mismo.😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤

I’ve been having issues in InDesign for the past couple of days. When I open a file (I’ve tried with a couple of different ones), I can work normally for a couple of minutes but then I won’t be able to move, click inside, resize, etc. any text or object boxes with my mouse. The arrow keys on the keyboard still work, but that’s slow and annoying. Nothing is locked. I’ve restarted the computer, deleted the InDesign cache and preferences. I even used the cleaner to uninstall and reinstall the whole program and it’s still happening. Any other ideas? It’s almost impossible to work like this!  Thanks in advance for any assistance!

After updating to InDesign 21.4 (including the latest 21.4.x update), our existing TIFF files with transparency are no longer imported correctly.These are production files from our publishing workflow that have been used successfully for months.Expected behaviorWhen placing a legacy TIFF with transparency into InDesign, the transparent background should be preserved.Actual behaviorThe TIFF is imported with a white background instead of transparency.Steps to reproduce Open the attached legacy TIFF in Photoshop. Photoshop correctly displays the transparent background. Place the TIFF in InDesign 21.4 using File > Place (with or without "Show Import Options"). The transparency is not recognized. The new versions of InDesign (21.3–21.4.1) cannot export files if a linked image is large (more than 1 GB tiff). When exporting to PDF, only a gray square appears, and the JPG export is empty. The last working version is 21.2.

InDesign 2026 (21.2) x64 Changes resolution when opening a file from within the application. This resizes the window so that it is completely impossible to grab any of the corners or header bar. I have to quit the application and restart. Happens around 30% of the time when opening a document while InDesign is already open. Screenshot attached. Windows 11 laptop running multiple monitors. I should add, this started happening a few updates ago.  

This new udpate gives me a contstant spinning wheel almost after each action I try to make. Select an item, move an item, open a panel, open a menu, anything really—each interactions causes the wheel to appear for 1-2sec. My productivity has been completely obliterated. When I try to overwrite/update an existing document with Publish Online, I eventually get the following error: "An error occurred while uploading the document. Please try again. Error #33". Normally, I first see a progress bar regarding the preparation of the document, followed by a progress bar regarding the uploading of the document. The only thing being shown is the second progress bar: the uploading of the document. This happens faster than normal, after which you receive this error message: "An error occurred while uploading the document. Please try again. Error #33". Can anyone help me with this?

Why is there an issue syncing indesign files to Creative Cloud? has worked perfectly for a year and now has issues. Is it a permissions thing also? 

Hi All,   I’m working on C++ plug-in on indesign server 2026. I have to read all paragraph style and find out which has the nested character style in it. But I'm not able find nested style name in paragraph style. Has anyone tried this or can anyone suggest me the Interface or boss class to get the nested style information?   Thanks in advance. Siddhesh 

I’m trying to use the gradient tool in InDesign. Simple. I made a box. I want to color it on one side and have it fade to transparent on the other. The color side will be a swatch from my list. I cannot seem to get the color palette to open while I have the gradient tool open to drag a color swatch over the gradient squares. Nor can I click with any success on the small color squares on the gradient bar that used to - with a click - just let me pick a color for each bit of a gradient.

Every month once Indesign is updated, our whole company is unable to open adobe. They get the error "indesign.exe - application error. The application was unable to start correctly (0x0000142). Click OK to close the application." This has been an on going issue for a few months now. The temp fix is to run a repair on the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable which fixes it until the next update comes out. This is for windows 11. Is there a more permanent fix for this?   

ID 21.4.1, MacI built a file in InDesign without issues.We just started experiencing an issue in which when someone else opens the file, the fonts (Barlow) appear to be missing, and show up like this: I was able to get the fonts working by disabling them, and letting ID re-enable them.However, when I opened a different copy of the same file, Medium and Medium appeared to be missing again, though I found I could also “fix” them by using Type > Find/Replace.  I assume that if I open up a copy someone else was working on, I may experience the same issue.Any ideas what may cause this? It’s concerning, and we haven’t seen this before.Thanks 

Bonjour à toutes et tous, Il y a quelques mois j’ai eu un soucis sur un fichier avec un message “Error: Adobe inDesign va s’arrêter. Une erreur grave s’est produite. Redémarrez InDesign pour récupérer votre travail dans les documents...” Après, chaque tentative d’ouverture de ce fichier entraînait systématiquement le même soucis.InDesign propose également une récupération automatique du document, mais celle-ci échoue à chaque fois.J’avais essayé les manipulations suivantes :Redémarrer InDesign plusieurs fois. Réinitialiser les préférences d’InDesign. Désinstaller puis réinstaller InDesign. Supprimer tous les fichiers de récupération (dossiers InDesign Recovery). Dupliquer le fichier et le renommer. Ouvrir le fichier en le faisant glisser directement dans InDesign. Ignorer la récupération automatique en cliquant sur « Non » lorsqu’elle est proposée.Aucune de ces solutions n’a résolu le problème. J’ai donc recommencé un nouveau fichier en partant d’une base qui était enregistrée avant ce

InDesign won't let me undo or save. I exported the IDML file to save my file. but I don't know how to fix this

I just upgraded to IND 21.0.2 and Mac OS Tahoe (26.2) and since then my color mixer isn't available. When I click on an object and want to change the color, the mixer is simply grayed out. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a solution?

InDesign has been around for like 25 years now and STILL all we have for gradient control is a linear and radial gradient. Can Adobe please add other styles to bring this software into the 2020’s? Copying and pasting gradients from Illustrator is ridiculous and doesn’t work well. as others have commented on previously.There are posts like this:  That are 2 years old and the OP is correct. It’s a ridiculous process. It needs a modern panel. You also have to try to drag a color swatch from another panel onto a little tiny color square in the gradient panel to change the color. Why not just allow us to click on the color square in the gradient ramp and choose a color from there? It would save SO much time and frustration. This shouldn’t even be a feature that users have to request. This should be Adobe’s team saying, “This is what needs to be updated in InDesign right now. I (and many other frustrated designers) would much rather have usable features like this than AI that we don’t need a

Hi,I  having terrible issue with Indesign 21.4.1. (on Win 11).From time to time the icon of saving appears (the blue rotating circle) and it stucks in that state. I can’t close the program and even kill the task from Task Manager. I can reopen the document and close it, but the icon starts to keep on turning.But I cannot close the indesign itself! It has even appeared afer restart as nonresponsive background!!!  First time in my 30 PC experience I saw something like that.I tried to install the previous version (20.5.4) and that version is fine.

Hello.In the sublayer of the program which I use in English, appears in German. Regardless of the right user region all programs were in English including Windows11. It concerns the following path: Type/Text variables/Insert variable/…The translations for other functions appear in the right language.I use the edition 20.5.3.x64.Is it a translation bug?
