I need a refresher course. I am printing photographs from CS5 to an Epson Surecolor P400 on Ilford Galerie paper and my prints are dark. I know CS5 is old, but I bought it years ago and that's what I have. I just don't understand whether to use the embedded working space, to let Photoshop or the printer handle color, or to choose the printer profile or the paper's profile .icc I know these are basic questions but I have never had a clear understanding of which way to go and every tutorial seems to say conflicting things. Are there simple answers somewhere or good tutorials I can use? My monitors are set up well and my colors are good, but dark. I can get an excellent print, but I waste paper in the process. Help?

Can't open new .MOV files in PS but they do run in LrC. New files are 4K shot with Nikon Z8. Is there a problem there? Older .MOV files, also 4K, shot with Nikon D850 still open properly in PS.Only the message in the subject line shows up, no other error boxes or messages.PC running Win10Pro and I just updated PS to 25.5.1.From LrC the Edit In options are all greyed out. Tried exporting original from LrC to a different drive and open in PS but get the same message. Thanks, Bill

I've been a Photoshop user for over 30 years. The new Photoshop 2025 update is not allowing me to create a gradient mask on an image. I've sat through every tutorial I could get my hands on and I'm very frustrated. HELP!!1. Adobe Photoshop 2025, 26.0.0 Release2. MacOS Sonoma version 14.7.13. Image layer selected, click on layer mask icon, click on Gradient tool, adjust the Gradient properties to my desired settings (black to transparent), click and drag and nothing happens.4. Expect to see one end as transparent and it's not working.
In Photoshop 25.5+, the transform controls on smart object layers no longer respect the layer mask's bounds. Instead, the transform handles default to the entire smart object, even when a mask is active. This is a major disruption to workflows that rely on quickly resizing or adjusting masked areas without affecting the full layer. Previously, selecting a layer mask allowed for tight, accurate transforms around the masked content. Now it requires cumbersome workarounds like rasterizing layers, manually loading mask selections, or using additional transform steps. Please consider either:Restoring the old behavior when a layer mask is selected.Adding a Preference toggle that allows users to choose between "Transform by Mask Bounds" or "Transform by Full Smart Object Bounds."This change slows down professional workflows and makes mask-based smart object editing less intuitive. To the powers that be, PLEASE take this into consideration, thank you!
Hi everyone! I'm working on streamlining our workflow for photographing ceramics. Each piece varies in shape, size, and color, so I'm trying to find the most efficient way to achieve consistent images. While we’ve managed to get the results we want, it feels like there are a lot of unnecessary steps involved. Currently, we’re editing each image at 620x620 pixels and using a manual Photoshop guide to measure 50 pixels from the bottom. I’ve been trying to find a way to automate this with an action, creating a template or overlay that I can click and adjust each image without doing it manually. The main part of our editing process is cropping the image. We’ve recently updated our website, so we’d like to improve the resolution of our images. Since 620x620 is too low, we’re considering 1200x1200 as a better size. (Let me know if anyone recommends a different size.) To maintain consistency, that means we now need a 97-pixel guide from the bottom.I’d love to find a simple and
Within the Camera Raw window, there are a number of controls that I rarely/never use. Talking to other creators that utilize CR, they all agree that there are a few (15-20) that are used on almost every image - while there are a number that we almost never utilize. It would be incredible if we could either (or both):- Create a favorites window where we could stack our most-often used controls- Allow the user to hide rarely-used controls.
Ever since the last PS update I keep losing my workspace altough I constantly re-arrange and save it. When I re-open PS the workspace is lost and everything is scattered and the UI is totally different. I have deleted my named workspace, re-established it with a different name but problem is still there. This never used to be a problem before. Please fix this bug. Would you please tell me how I can remove these scanner bandings?
le chargement d'image n'en finit pas, même si on essaye avec un petit fichier de 400ko! Il n'y a pas de message d'erreur mais le chargement tourne en boucle [Edited by moderator to change Topic from macOS to Web. Changed Subject to include "web"]
Hi there,I wondered if anyone could help me. I have a number of images that have been sent to me that need cleaning up - especially the removal of a sort of colour banding across the image that I think might have been caused during the original scanning.I have enclosed an image to give you some idea of the problem. Can this be solved with some action or something?Any help would be greatly appreciated.Kind Regards
'Could not complete the File Info command because the Metadata library could not be loaded.' Mac OS 11.7.10 Big Sur. I did a search for this which just took me to a dead end. Any help would be appreciated.
I installed the latest updates for bridge and Photoshop 2024 (25.12.0) on my imac, which is running MacOS Big Sur 11.7.10. When I went to edit some file info, I get a message"Could not complete the File Info command because the Metadata library could not be loaded."I can edit the file info using bridge, but it's tedious, because it doesn't remember the past info I've entered in previous files. I put a lot of the same descriptions in for photos intended as stock and liked doing it in Photoshop. I have tried simple uninstall and re-install (but keeping preferences) with no effect. I don't see any old messages about this particular error, except in a version of Elements. I can't install Photoshop v26 because my 2017-era mac doesn't support the latest OS that requires.
I have a Windows 10 Pro workstation that is completely up to date with an up to date version of Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 installed. When I attempt to run a batch through the automate menu, I receive this error: "Could not complete the Batch command because the file could not be found." No matter what action and folders I attempt to use, I receive this error. I did my best to search for others experiencing this problem, but could not find anything online with this exact error message.Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!Kris
I would like to suggest adding a dedicated command in the Keyboard Shortcuts settings that allows switching between Tool Presets — such as "Next Tool Preset" and "Previous Tool Preset."Currently, there's no way to assign a shortcut for selecting a different Tool Preset directly. The only available options are for managing presets (load, save, reset, etc.), but not for navigating through them during active work. This feature would greatly enhance workflow efficiency, especially for users who rely heavily on Tool Presets and want to cycle through them quickly without using the mouse. Please consider adding this functionality to make Tool Preset usage more dynamic and keyboard-friendly.
I would love to have a preferences item that allows me to remove the 19 file formats that I will never use to make the 3 or 4 file formats I do use much easier to find in the list.
I want to ask about Layerizing Method For Layerizing, Color Separation & Recoloring Digital Rasterized Textile Print Patterns. (For controlling the colors for printing on fabrics.) Like floral patterns etc. As far as I know there are two methods used for this purpose Method 1) Separating Va ColorsTaking samples from the colors from the different color sections on the rasterized image then create swatches and separate the parts which colored with these certain swatches via color channels. Method 2) Auto Trace or Manual Trace the different sections on the rasterizxed image. Question 1) Which method do you recommend? Is there other method do you recommend for another specific setting? Why? Question 2) How to recolorize after layerizing?Creating a fill layer and set the layer merge settign as "color" etc.?
Uneble to create "New Document" in photoshop 2025 26.6.0. it didn't create.
When taking photos with an iPhone, the file is an HEIC. With some photos (especially buildings, bridges, and other objects in the background), there is an “outline halo” around the object in the image with an HEIC file. I usually remove the outline halo by either tracing around with the Remove Tool or use the Cloning Tool. It works but is very time consuming. Is there a quicker way (possibly through Photoshop's A.I.) that will quickly recognize this outline halo, analyze it, and get rid of it? It would save a great deal of time.
I have downloaded 25 images from LR in layers and am adjusting opacity on each image. When I get to the last image as soon as I reduce opacity the image is transparent. Take it back to 100% and the image is back. I have done this process a number of times without issue so I am not able to understand what is ahppening here. Can you help please.
I simply do not understand why.. everytime I right click now, no matter the tool (pen, bush etc) i dont get specific tool options but a static option to show the contextual task bar or change the outter artboard color. who in the world okayed this?!
Good day. We have a number of Photoshop actions which resize image files, reducing the pixel value of the long side and using the conditional command to distinguish between images in landscape and portrait orientation. In other words, there's a separate resizing action for both landscape and portrait, and the Master action runs one of these two based on image orientation. Without a discernible pattern, a batch using this action will occasionally fail with the message The command "If" is not currently available. Typically, I've just deleted the conditional action and re-recorded using the two source actions, and then I can complete the batch. I'm curious to know what causes this error and how to avoid it. Any insight from the community would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
