Photoshop Elements

I just downloaded Elements 2023 and I am lost. In my previous (though 8 year old) version I was able to make the background into a new layer that I could work with, I could use the background eraser to easily remove things in order to isolate at item in a photo.  I cannot find where to do ANY of this.  I am reading that the magic eraser is no longer an option?  I would love it if someone could point me to some good tutorials on this, my searching is getting me nowhere.  Thank you.

Trying to get raw plugin for Nikon D780.  My understanding is that it needs to be 12.2 or higher.  I currently have 12.0 and PE 2020.  Saw another post from a while back that had a link to this page:https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-in-installer.htmlTried running the 14.5 installer but didn't show up when I restared PE.   All help pages I've looked at don't have minimum versions of of PE for given version of plugin - just Lightroom etc.Beginning to think  PE is the red headed stepchild of Adobe.  At least it hasn't gone subscription based.Can I upgrade raw plugin and if so how?

I need technical assistance in restoring PSE and my photo database. The database consists of ~46 GB with 327 folders and 17,446 files. The files were heavily tagged for location, date, subjects, etc. A Windows 11 failure caused my system to brick. After a effort by Dell Premium Support, they determine that the system had to been erased and Windows 11 and its updates had to be reloaded. Once this was completed, I then had to reload my apps and data files. I have dowloaded Photoshop Elements 2022 Version 20.0 LS30_win64.exe, but I have made no attempt to install it. My data backup was maintained by iDrive.com. I recovered the photo folders and files, returning them to the same logical heirarchy in which they were located before the system failure. Attachments 1 through 4 show the folders, files and paths. Attachments 5 through 7 provide Computer and OS details. Any guidance would be appreciated. Ideally, can I return this system to its original state where PSE 2022 ca

Hello.  I'm new to elements.  I've used Photoshop regularly in the past.  Is there any way in PE 2020 to fade the effect of a filter or ajustment as there used to be in Photoshop?  There used to be a fade command under the edit menu in PS.

Hello, It is rumored that Photo and Premiere Elements 23 does not install Creative Cloud. I say rumored because the post by an Adobe employee says the install "should not" included CC. To confirm, I installed P&P Elements Mac edition and CC was NOT installed. Happy Days!

I replaced a MacBook Pro 2019 Catalina MB pro 2021 M1 Ventura. I transferred documents and apps with the migration assistant. Everything works otherwise, but when I try to open Adobe Photoshop Elements 2023 v 21.0, which I once registered, I can't open it. I can find the app in question on Adobe's website, but when I try to download it I get the message "Enter your PW to allow this. Pw is not valid and I changed PW but it is also not valid. I went to the page > Verify your identity and there PW was valid. Is there any advice on the forum to solve the problem?

Hello, I added recently Premiere Pro to my suscription, but as I'm totally new I bought an old (2019) perpetual Photoshop and Premiere Elements. But I cant use Premiere Elements, as soon as I click on Premiere from the organizer, an add window pops suggesting to upgrade to the actual version. As I bought this old version only for training, I dont want buy 130€ the upgrade. Does somebody know how to avoid this window and how to continue with the 2019 version ? My Canon 90D settings is to shoot raw only. When I downloaded my pics, Adobe Elements 2022, created double raw pics. So I tried Adobe Elements 2021, did the samething.  What is wrong here?

Hi, I'm having a seemingly random bug with my crop tool.I am dealing with hundreds of images that need to specifically cropped to the same aspect ratio.I have input 210mm by 297mm for this and most of the time it works as expected. This means it is set to 'Custom' on the drop down and nothing in the resolution feild as I want them to keep the same resolution.It will however occasionally break when I drag the crop tool over the artwork. It doesn't honour what the mouse is doing and instead draws a tiny version of the crop box.I can then grab the corners of the tiny crop box to edit the size but it wont allow me to initially draw it the box any larger.I have tried the crop pre-selection tick box in the preferences - this doesn't fix the issue.The only way to seemingly stop it from doing this once it's bugged out is to either go to a different tool and preform an action that isn't a crop or just restart photoshop and that then fixes the issue.I'm not sure if there's a sequence of tools th

Notification of an update to install resulted in this message coming up with the advice to download an app from the app store, saying only apps that were live would work, but when I go to the app store every app is live, I’ve tried around half a dozen (photo related) but with no success, I’m on a Mac running Catalina 10.15.7I. I’m able to work but it means I have to “Force Quit” to get out of the programme. Any suggestions?

I'm brand new to photoshop so I am probably doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what. I am trying to remove the background from an image. This is the image I am starting with:   I then select the background and use the eraser tool to erase out the background. I have run the brush over the entire background multiple times so I would think the background would be completely gone. On the photoshop side, it appears to be:   But when I export the image and then upload it against a different color background, there's all these little white whisps all around the face. I can't figure out how to get rid of them.   I even tried deselecting everything and just running the background eraser tool over all of the background just in case there might have been seomething that had previously been selected. But that didnt' work either.  Any ideas on what I am doing wrong here? 

Adobe Photoshop Elements 2023 does not open when changin to mac from MacBook Pro 2019 to MB pro M1

I create a shape, simplify it, and with the shape selected, I choose the Gradient Tool and apply a gradient, but the gradient gets applied to the entire drawing area instead of to the shape only.I'm guessing either the solution is dead simple or the problem is a program bug. Everything else works fine.

I have backed up my PE 2018 organizer many many times. I can only find one instance of the backup including the critical tally file and it is a 2019 backup. I'm trying to update to PE 2023 but without being able to restore a more recent backup I will be looking at a ridiculous amount of time and effort. All my backups except this 2019 backup are missing the .tly file in the backup. How do I get the 2018 version of PE to correctly backup and include this file?

I have Photoshop Elements 12. My text tool suddenly stopped working. It worked, and then the next time I opened Photoshop it didn't. I did not make any changes to the program. The error I am getting is:"Could not complete request because something prevented the text engine from being initialized."Does anyone know how to fix this?Thank you!LeeAnn

I have a Nikon D5600. Just bought Adobe photoshop elements 2023 basic. Never used before and am a new user to camera as well. I have looked at tutorials but have not found the one specific to my situation. I downloaded over 300 pics from cruise trip to Photoshop. They were small and at the bottom of page and I downloaded in HIW but should I have downloaded in raw? If so, How do I delete those that I downloaded in a mass delete, from Adobe or should I so I can download the raw versions?Is there a tutorial that covers this?Thanks

I exported some photos to an external Hard Drive, but they were transferred as DFOptimize .bin files and I cannot open them. How do I convert them to .Jpg?Please help if someone can. These are very important photos.Thanks for any response.

Recently loaded macOS Sonoma & my PSE 2022 is acting somewhat strange. Foreground & background colour icon is distorted, pictures in the Photo Bin are garbled among other minor issues. Anyone experiencing the same? Solution?

For those who use Elements just for fun/personal enjoyment like I do, what tools or techniques produce the most interesting/appealing/satisfying effects for you? (from an abstract or minimalist art perspective)I enjoy trying various combinations just randomly, but as a newbie I'm sure there must be certain effects that I probably wouldn't stumble upon in a hundred years. Do you have any enduring faves?
