I’m trying to use two variable fonts: SCALE and SZTOS SCALE works great in illustrator but when I try to use it in AE I only have italic options. SZTOS would be my preferred choice but that only gives my access to the italic versions in both Illustrator and AE. I’ve installed/removed etc but can’t get them to work. I did also test OBVIOUSLY font which works great. I have emailed about SZTOS as it is a known issue of the font itself. I should have reguular and italic. Seems to be a font issue maybe but strange how I have limited options in AE – ie, limited to Italic only. Any ideas?  

Hi, on version 15.1.1 the UI panel does not scroll down to show all edits. I read it is a bug that will be fixed.In the meantime, HOW CAN I ACCESS TO "properties" of the linked VRcomps to stabilize/track and above all REFRESH the "Output/render"??Appreciate any help!

 Hey everyone,I’m using the following After Effects expression: var rect = thisLayer.sourceRectAtTime(time, false); var pos = transform.position; var offset = 20; pos - [0, rect.height - offset]; It works, but I’d like the text to stay fixed at the bottom no matter what characters are used — uppercase, lowercase, umlauts, or special symbols — and I’d like the offset to adjust automatically (so I don’t have to set it manually).Right now, the position still changes slightly depending on the text content.Does anyone know how to modify the expression so the text baseline always stays perfectly fixed at the bottom with an automatic offset?Thanks in advance!

I tried to make a seamless loop using Turbulent Displace. I added the following expression to the Evolution property:  time * 36  or time * (360/10) The Evolution does make a full circle from 0 to 360 degrees, but the animation is far  from seamless. Basically it starting from 0*+00°  and finishes 1*+00° Could somebody help me to create a real seamless loop from Turbulent Displace for 10s

Hi. When I click "alt" + scroll, it doesn't move me to the place where my mouse cursor is (in After Effects). It must be a problem with the program because everything works fine in Illustrator. I uninstalled and reinstalled it. I also changed the settings, but it still doesn't work.

So does anyone know if you can get element 3d for free somehow with macos catalina? I've searcehd far and wide but haven't found a solution to paying $200 for the plugin. I know it's worth it, but still... 

Hello! I’m having an issue with an expression. I wanted to create a series of patterns and I thought that I could do this by triggering a pre-comp’s animation with it’s distance from an object. When objA passes over, pre-comp will play 2s - 4s. When objB passes over, play 6s - 8s.I’ve gotten to a point where the objects interact with the pre-comp’s time, but the output time’s are always off. Instead of 2s - 4s, it will output 2:12 - 4, 6s - 8s will be 6:04 to 8. I assume I’m not understanding linear() or time correctly. Everytime I open any version of after effects it says crash repair options and then the spinny wheel on the mac shows up and it stays like that forever not letting me use any version of after effects. I've tried deleting and reinstalling and it doesn't work. What should I do

So - I'm new to the roto brush and am having an issue.  As my 20 second clup renders, the render behind the playhead gets lost - meaning at say the 10 second mark, everything the green line behind will disappear.  This continues to happen as the playhead moves on. Any sugestions as to what could be casuing this?

Hello all! I've been using the text animation present for Counter Countdown Monospaced the last week or so without any issues to make little rolling number animations for a corporate job I'm working on. Yesterday I was experiencing some crashes and performance issues with a different project I had running alongside this one, so I updated After Effects to 25.5.0, and updated the Maxon plugins I was using and that seemed to resolve that issue, but when I reloaded the first project to create more counter animations the preset no longer appears to be working.   I tried saving a version of the project as AE 24 but the same problem is showing up in there. It's showing up errors in a few lines of the expression, are there any expression supremos that can help me resolve the issue? AE 2025.2 and earlier launches fine, but any of the 2025.3 updates don't launch--I get a "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)" error. Googling has shown this error crops up from time to time across lots of programs, but the problem seems to be something out of date. I'm on Windows 10, completely updated, and my RTX GeForce 2070 Super drivers are also completely updated. My system is way beyond the system requirements minimum. I haven't run into this with recent updates on the other CC programs (but I haven't tried them all). Since this error is happening with LITERALLY only this program, and only the recent updates of this program, I assume this is an Adobe ask.

The MIR effect doesn’t work for me. Every time I apply it, the whole comp goes dark and I get this error: “After Effects error: MIR: OpenGL error: Could not allocate texFBO (glFlush()) (512) (25::241)”. This only happens with MIR. Other Trapcode effects like Particular and Tao work fine.I’ve already tried reinstalling different AMD driver versions (clean installs), reinstalling Windows, installing OpenGL compatibility packs, and using older versions of the plugin and After Effects. Nothing helped.I use a single monitor, my GPU is an RX 580 8GB, and my CPU doesn’t have integrated graphics. Other effects that use OpenGL work normally. Tech support told me there have been issues with AMD drivers, but if that was the case, old versions should have worked — and they don’t.I don’t know what else to try. Has anyone run into this and found a solution?

I've only used After Effects 2024 until recently, when I downloaded AE 25, the video preview won't load, and it seems to lag. I've never had problems with AE 24 but AE 25 is lagging and doesn't seem to work. At first the video preview had worked but now it won't seem to load and I've already checked my cache and RAM, neither seem to be the problem. 

There's some kind of messed up stuff going on. I needed a simple text animation from another project. I reduced it down to just that comp plus a few pngs. After importing it into the main project I get this message.   This data is coming from nowhere. Feels like some f-ed up cache shenanigans going on somewhere. I've had another messed up situation once with generating proxies that one frame in the proxy file suddenly had a black fill with random white text about some prompt.    This is starting to feel really awkward because it feels like Adobe may be logging data from outside it's apps and now accidentally leaking that via these errors. I noticedapp.activeViewer.views[0].options.zoom; gives a different result on my mac vs my PC. On my mac when the view is at 100% zoom I get 0.5, while on my PC I get 1.I assume it has something to do with display scaling, but I couldn't find any information about this online. The docs should emphasize this. What's the best way to reliably get the correct value through extendscript? Also, since I am creating a CEP panel, could I just multiply the value bywindow.devicePixelRatioor do I need to take other factors into account? Thank you.

Hello, I'm having a sudden issue arise within After Effects today, whenever I am scrubbing through the timeline or hitting play to preview. The viewport freezes completely on a static frame even though all UI and functions seem to continue to work as normal and can be selected, shortly after this I will get a not responding notice at the top of the window which continues indefinitely until I force close. I have tried updating to the latest version of AE, rolling back as well updating/rolling back my drivers. Strangely nothing has changed on my device between the last session working in AE (the day before) yet these issues have suddenly appeared in any project file newly created or already exisiting. I have also tried changes in preferences and project settings (multi frame rendering, CUDA to mercury, etc) but I'm having no luck. Lastly I've tried a fresh install of After effects but no change to the problem, unsure of what else to try or the sudden cause for this repeating pr

I have an effect with a couple deprecated parameters, and other effects with hidden parameters I set programmatically. I don't want the customer to be able to see them. Setting PF_PUI_NO_ECW_UI in the parameter's ui_flags removes it from the effect window, but not from the timeline window. Setting AEGP_DynStreamFlag_HIDDEN seems to do the trick, but I'm unclear as to when to set it. Currently I'm setting it during param update, but that doesn't appear to cover (for example) the case of opening an existing file.Is there a well-known way of handling this? Thanks.

Directly inside After Effects you can import and animate 3D models in the timeline. Provided it is either an OBJ, GLB, and FBX file type. But importing them doesn’t always go smoothly. In this video I work through some common problems caused by missing textures, procedural materials, or Blender's modifiers which can trip you up. I start with a walkthrough of Bender-to-After Effects workflow, which is a fancy way of saying I explain how to convert a model that Blender can see (including enabling the add-ons for GLFT / GLB and FBX files). For the past few days, Adobe After Effects on my PC won’t start at all. This happened after the latest update. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, and even tested with an older version, but nothing helped. It just shows this message: Do you know what could be causing this? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm tracking a portion of my scene (I duplicated my footage and cut out just the part I want to track), but after I succesfully track the camera and create the 3d camera, the null I create is not behaving as expected. For some reason, it's taking the null properties of an track I did earlier in the scene. Why is this happening? I'm pick whipping a bunch of tracking markers like normal, but it just disregards that track and creates a null that sticks to the footage but 20 seconds prior. I'm very confused.

After Effects 25.4.0 no reconoce una de las tipografias utilizadas. He tenido que convertir la tipografia en forma para que al exportar no me la sustituyera por otra.  Lo he probado todo, incluso de desinstalar la tipo y volverla a instalar, actualizar a la última versión de AE.... El mensaje que me sale inicialmente es el de la captura que adjunto. Alguien sabe como solucionarlo? Gracias de antemano. 

This is by far the most unreliable version of After Effects I have used in 15 years.  Today I've had about 20 crashes, caused by all sorts of minor actions - precomping a layer, clearing the cache, changing the cache location back to my cache disk after restting preferences.  It's just ridiculous at this point.  Can't you just go back to bringing a new version out every few years and spending the time in between fixing the ever increasing amount of bugs? 

Roto brush (all versions, v1, v2 and v3) keep crashing after a few strokes in AE 24.0.1. Was working before, well sort of, on some shots it worked without crashing, then it crashed several times (with crash dialog box), not sure it was Roto brush specific, it also crashed on simple tasks like exchanging a layer with other footage (no fx on layer, the most basic scenario) and then after a crash or 10 it started working again, no crashes while doing exactly the same things (roto brush, exchanging layer footage) on the same layers in the same comp. Now it started crashing again using Roto brush on a clean footage layer (no pre-comps, no other fx in the chain), except now it's a spinning beachball hang, no crash dialog box. Doesn't matter which version of Roto Brush I use, they all crash, so again, not sure if it's actually roto brush or just After Effects that wants to crash for a couple of hours, only to at some point seemingly randomly just start working again.
