I created a fairly simple composition featuring infographics. It uses shapes, text, and a few PNG images animated with the Puppet Pin Tool. My PC is quite powerful and has always handled this kind of workload. While I'm working in AE, the playback speed seems normal, and I set the animation timings according to what I see (at any resolution from full to quarter). In the Preview panel, the frame rate matches the composition, and no frames are skipped. Then I render my 2560x1440, 60 fps composition. I don't use interlacing, and the render settings are set to Best Settings. The composition is output in H264 with a bitrate of 10 Mbps. After rendering, it turns out that everything played back twice as slow in AE, and now I see a pretty fast animation.Key point: I intentionally saved the project file as version 25 so I could test it in a previous version of AE. There the composition plays correctly, and it is really quite fast inside AE already, just like in the render. My Specs:Windows 11 CPU:
After Effects crashes constantly, black screen and windows become unresponsive. This happens about last week. Everytime I scrub any file (jpg/png/mp4/vector) After effects lags down, black screen and unresponsive.Other software I use does not experience this lag. I have updated the Graphic driver, no effects. I’ve changed the settings in AE, so far no effects. My specs:Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 7 155H (1.40 GHz) 32.0 GB (31.4 GB usable) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU (6 GB) Intel(R) Arc(TM) Graphics (128 MB) Storage: 668 GB of 954 GB usedPlease suggest me what to do about this constant problem. I can’t use AE at all.
What should be the value to get an exact cube?
I’m a Video Editor who edits for fun, specifically using After Effects 2020. I edit on an HP laptop, with an AMD RYZEN processor. Whenever I make video edits, when I zoom out into a black background/no background (specifically while editing pictures), I see some weird lines that sort of act as motion tile near my footage. This only happens if I am editing in a way where I am using no motion tile or reflect in my transitions.I have tried multiple effects and methods, as well as different settings to try to help but nothing helps.I’ve tried adding a black solid layer in the background, adding slight motion tile, etc. I am wondering if the cause for this is the After Effects settings/version itself, or my Laptop (settings/model). I have had other versions of After Effects, and I have had 2020 before on a different laptop but never faced this issue. I will include photos as an example:
I love the secret projects that accompany each version of After Effects, but I only thought to save the last couple. Is there an archive of them anywhere?
With the release of the Mac Studio with M5 Ultra, and Apple’s eye-watering RAM pricing, I’m trying to work out the best upgrade route for overall performance.I currently have a Mac Studio with the top-spec M2 Ultra and 192GB of unified memory. The comparable upgrade would be the top-spec M5 Ultra, but with only 96GB of memory. The jump to 256GB adds roughly £4,000, which simply isn’t viable.Would cutting my memory from 192GB to 96GB undermine the performance gains of the M5 Ultra? Would having only 96GB alongside the maxed-out CPU and GPU create a bottleneck, or does that only become an issue if my workloads actually exceed the available memory?Alternatively, would I be better off choosing the top-spec M5 Max with 128GB of unified memory? It would have less CPU and GPU power than the M5 Ultra, but gives me more memory at a much more reasonable price. My main work is motion graphics, primarily After Effects, alongside Cinema 4D and other Adobe applications. # After Effects 26.3.0 aborts at startup on macOS 26.6.2 (Apple Silicon) — 26.2.1 works, 53/53 launches failed**Workaround, for anyone stuck: roll back to 26.2.1.**Creative Cloud → After Effects → **⋯** → **Other versions** → 26.2.1. Running fine here after 53 consecutive failed launches on 26.3.0. A full uninstall/reinstall of the Creative Cloud suite is *not* needed.**This is not the "After Effects freezes before the splash screen" issue.** Those reports describe a hung process — beachball, "not responding" in Force Quit. Here the process is never hung: it stays responsive, puts up an error dialog, and **exits cleanly with status 0** after a few seconds. After import an Adobe Illustrator file (30.7), After effects(25.0.0) displays the vector art with a white backgroundAfter effects shows me the vector art like a flattened image! This has never happened to me before, and I need a solution.
I can't find a way to get SVG images into my composition. EPS is just drag and drop but SVG... I can't through any route.I must be missing something.
When adding an Object Matte to 25fps interlaced, AE requires to switch the Comp to 50 fps. Although imho this processing should happen under the hood, I can understand why that is needed. But the thing is, when doing so, the timing is changed: the Comp length is doubled in time. I think time should remain the same.Is this new behavior? I remember that changing frame rate in Comp settings did not affect Duration in seconds. Please repair, or give the option in the Comp settings to maintain time or frames. (Materialy is a typo in the heading - can’t edit it)
The name of the 3D object is Briefcase with Money.obj. I want to create an effect where the camera moves upwards and the effects move downwards. However, when I add the camera, the 3D object disappears. What can be done to resolve this? Thank you very much for your attention.
Hi all!I have this drone hyperlapse shot, during the first seconds there is a visible perspective change of the images, so I have the buildings that goes up and down. You can clearly see this movement in the video I attach, which I tried to stabilize it with warp stabilizer using both Subspace warp and perspective. Also there is a bit of left to right (and viceversa movement)How can I stabilize it to get a smooth result? Thanks!
I have AE 22. When i play the preview/playback in a composition that isn’t 15 fps, the program starts lagging and slowing down. It happens both if i add media and if i don’t, does anyone know what the problem might be and how to fix it? I wanna use 18 fps or more but even then it gives me problems and doesn’t load as it should
Is there a way to time-stretch a comp, but keep audio clip pitch and duration? I know that it's possible to "un-stretch" the audio to compensate, but I’m looking for an easier workflow.
After working for weeks random Arri MXF Pro Res files will no longer connect, be marked as incompatible, randomly. They will have been unchanged on disk, still work in Premiere, even if I link to an untouched backup they will not work in AE. Then every few days more and more files will stop working. Its like a plague. This is destroying workflows.
In an After Effects 2025 tutorial, the Camera Frustum/Wireframe is magenta, but the Focus Distance indicator line is clearly WHITE.In my After Effects 2026 installation, both the camera frustum and the Focus Distance indicator appear magenta.I am using Classic 3D and Depth of Field is enabled. Is there a preference, View Option, Layer Control setting, or any other setting that controls the Focus Distance indicator color?I don't want to change the Camera's Label Color because that changes the entire camera wireframe/control color.I specifically want to distinguish the Focus Distance indicator from the camera frustum.Screenshots attached:After Effects 2025 tutorial — white Focus Distance line + magenta camera frustum. My After Effects 2026 — both appear magenta. Was this behavior changed in After Effects 2026, or is there a hidden setting/preferences option?
I started encountering a bug yesterday where my after will not allow me to click on any effects or presets in the effects and presets window. I am still able to add effects by right clicking my footage and choosing effect. You can see in the screenshot that the create new animation preset button at the button is not appearing. The only way I am able to fix this is to reset after effects multiple times. I dont even know where to being troubleshooting or what information to provide.
Did you know you can use After Effects expressions to dynamically rewrite your mask shapes on the fly? In this tutorial, I'll show you a cool experssion (createPath) which lets you use code (and maths) to draw masks and paths! This means we can set a starting point, give it a length and AE will create a line for us.I came up with this because I was tired of trying to move or adjust path points. This way, I just use a point control and a slider and I'm done. But then, thanks to laziness, I also added code to have the line draw based on the layer's in-point, so I don't even have to add keyframes. All bundled up into a preset.
I am new to Adobe After Effects. I saw a video and am trying to duplicate an animation effect they did. However, shortly into the video they select the pen tool, and then a little to the right in the toolbar, you can clearly see options for what I believe are "fill" (or color) and "stroke" before the rotobezier checkbox. (Yes I know, it's in Spanish, apologies.)However, in my toolbar when I click the pen, I don't get these same buttons/tools/whatever:I have tried messing around in menus, looking all over the place, but I cannot seem to figure this out - can anyone help me get those two options into my toolbar?
Hi Community... is there a way or an expression that can be applied to an effect so that it will be off while you're working, but is on when you render? For instance, I'm using the pixel blur effect, and it slows down my interactivity while I'm working, but would like it available in the renders. This is possible in any node in Nuke. And I think it has something to do with the opacity, because that's where you set the expression. It's very handy. Are there any "render only" flags in the expressions? best, Fred
Photoshop displays a "Scratch Disks are full" prompt during startup or rendering even though the primary drive has ample free storage.
I’m trying to add a feature to my panels so they can be closed using the ESC key. The code below is just a basic test. When I run it and press ESC, it works the first few times. However, after about 5 to 10 presses, I start getting the attached error.I’ve tried several workarounds, including using scheduled tasks, but the error always shows up after a while. It also completely ignores my try-catch block. Can you explain why the error happens on the .close() line, and if there is a better way to close a window using the ESC key? Reference code for test:var palette = new Window("palette");palette.text = "Dialog";var button1 = palette.add("button", undefined, undefined, { name: "button1"});button1.text = "Button";button1.onClick = function () { palette.close();};palette.cancelElement = button1;try { palette.addEventListener("keydown", function (k) { if (k.keyName == "Escape") { palette.close(); } });} catch (e) { /* Ignore registration errors */ }pal
I'm a long-time InDesign user trying to help my company's motion graphics team get more use out the CC libraries that our print designers use all the time. We have robust Paragraph and Character Styles in our CC libraries, but I can't find any definitive information about whether they are accessible in After Effects or not. They appear greyed out in the Library panel, so I'm thinking they aren't usable but that seems crazy that something so useful would be cut off from a group who still uses type so much. Am I missing something or are After Effects users really limited to shared colors and graphics in CC libraries?
I saw this reference. -https://www.instagram.com/p/DcAvkW6DZVo/?igsh=bGp6d2Q0amRycm9iand really liked it. It is clearly based on images, turns them into particles, and morphs them. Is this possible in AE or does it look more like an effect in a 3D software? Thanks,J
Working on an animation project and I ran into an issue with a piece of text where the percentage was supposed to be listed. The text read “...greater than or equal to %25 of...” and I flagged it as a typo. However, when I tried to fix it, no matter what I did or where I copied the text from, my “25%” formatted to “%25”. Was working in v26, but the issue carried over when I downgraded to v25 as well.Haven’t had this issue with any other project. I just tested it in another recent project (also v25) and was able to type the percentages okay, so not sure if this is project specific, v26 specific, or user/formatting error. Saw another couple posts on the Photoshop forums with the same issue, but no real fix.Two things I noticed/did to resolve the issue. For some reason, Hindi digits was checked. I got my project file from another editor, so maybe they had it enabled. Unchecked that box. It may help others, although I saw no change. I selected all my text, went to the Text settings on the s
