Hi There,I'm doing a School of Motion tutorial, and am a little confused on a very basic function.When I hold cmd, the anchor point of a shape layer does not snap to either the center or corners etc. When I hold cmd on other layers, like a vector shape or comp, the anchor point snaps.Would you have any idea why this isn't working for shape layers? I've tried toggling the snapping box on the toolbar, and that doesn't seem to change the functionality.Thanks!

I've already managed to add the effects, but where did the subtitle files go? I can't find them. I don't know where they went. How can I get my screen back to how it was before? My screen before​​​​​​My screen afterwards I can already do the part about adding shadows. But how can I access my previous caption text again?Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Hi everyone,I’m having a serious performance issue with After Effects 2020 and would appreciate any advice.When I open After Effects and load certain templates, the preview becomes extremely slow—sometimes dropping below 1 FPS. At the same time, RAM usage suddenly increases until it exceeds my 32 GB of memory, and eventually Windows becomes unresponsive or crashes.My PC specifications include: NVIDIA RTX 2060 Super 8 GB 32 GB RAM Windows I’ve already tried both upgrading and downgrading After Effects to different versions, and also templates(from light to heavy) but the same issue continues.Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Could this be related to the template itself, memory/cache settings, GPU acceleration, plugins, or another After Effects configuration?Any suggestions on what I should check would be greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance!

Hello, I have an active Adobe Creative Cloud license. I need to install After Effects 24.6.4 because several existing projects and plugins are validated on this version. However, Creative Cloud only shows version 25.x and 26.x under "Other Versions". Is there any official way to obtain After Effects 24.6.4, such as:- Adobe Support access- Direct installer- Admin Console package- Any special entitlement Thank you for your help.

While testing 3D shadows using two solid layers in After Effects' Advanced 3D Renderer, I encountered an unusual rendering issue:When the two solid layers are close to each other, intersecting, or even perfectly overlapping in 3D space, a noticeable white edge/white line appears along the edges of the shadow cast by one of the solid layers.The issue can occur under the following conditions:The two solid layers have a certain amount of spatial distance between them; The two solid layers intersect each other in 3D space; The two solid layers are completely or almost completely overlapping; With the Advanced 3D Renderer enabled, and lighting and shadows turned on, an abnormal white edge can be observed around the boundary of the shadow.In particular, the white edge still appears when the two solid layers are completely overlapping or geometrically intersecting. Therefore, this does not appear to be caused simply by the distance between the layers or by normal layer occlusion. 

Adobe After Effects wont launch and throws up the AGM font error from version 26.0 onwards.A possible explanantion that can be drawn from this:Company has updated it’s security measure, which causes this conflict with the AGM font.To compensate I have been using v25.1, which has also suddenly stopped working. I recently updated my after effects and adobe media encoder to 2025. Now everytime i try to render a video through media encoder it says "Adobe Media Encoder 2025" is damaged and can't be opened.You should move it to the Trash.This file was downloaded on an unknown date.I'm on a m1 macbook pro and use these programs regularly for work. I tried to install the previous version of media encoder and get the same issue. I don't understad what could be causing this issue. and am struggling to find other people experiencing this online.

after effect used to re link all the missing files as a batch - now i have a new macbook pro and it relink only one file each time and not automatically, do you have a solution for that bug?

After effects crashes moments after every time

For whatever reason, whenever I launch After Effects now, the app freezes when scanning folders and immediately crashes. No error message shows up.I tried basically everything.Starting in safe mode, disabling third party plug-ins (didn't have any to begin with), resetting preferences.Uninstalling, re-installing, manually deleting all files relating to After Effects and then installing it again.It always crashes at the splash screen when it's scanning folders. The folder it crashes at changed every time.I went into Windows settings and gave high-performance to After Effects but that didn't work either.It was literally working fine less than 4 days ago and I finished a project on it. Now it does this and I'm truly stumped on how to fix it.

     ProblemSolution is change this file name from “microsoft.ai.machinelearning.dll” to “microsoft.ai.machinelearning.dll.bak” path is “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats”

I have two text layers, these were made in different comps. Both have the exact same properties and font, yet one has a thicker weight compared to the other. I’ve copied one text layer over into another comp to compare the two. There are no effects, strokes, or text animators applied to the text layers. 

in most video editing software you can select all clips on the right side of the playhead at the press of a button. how do i do this in after effects? i have quite complex composition, i cant just shift click all of the layers because it would also select the wrong ones. 

Ever wished you could smoothly round the corners of a Mask Path like you can with a Shape Layer? Now you can with a simple slider. This video is in 2 parts. In the first minute or so, I show the script in action. Just draw a mask on your layer, then run the script and adjust the roundness value. And that's all you need! But, if you're curious how I did it, I then talk you through the code, breaking down each element so you can gain an understanding as to what's possible when you mix path points, the Kappa constant and createPath();

I’ve only been using AE for a year or so. Usually doing the same thing, special effects with video and graphics over a music track. Over 100 videos, never had a problem. This time my pre comp is 10m 50, shows as 10m 50 in the file info, when I play MP4 on QuickTime Player it’s 10m 50 but it shows as about 9m when I imported the MP4 into the main project. Which throws all of my effects out of sync with the music.  I should add that I’m using the  MP4 more than once in the total project.Also, for info, the project was giving my iMac a hard time with all of the effects which is why I rendered the pre comp and imported it back in.I always use standard settings in the Media Encoder. The main video in the comp is the same FPS as the pre comp. I’m at a loss. I’m not sure which other screenshots would help.I hope this makes sense……...Can anybody help me please? 

HI:I’m working on a facial rig. All the elements are shape layers. I want to drive the eyebrows with Nulls that control the path. I made the face shapes a few days ago. Today I went in selected the layer. Opened its contents and selected path. Then I went to Windows>Create Nulls From Paths and selected Points Follow Nulls. I got an error message stating, “Error: No paths selected.” Huh? There is a path selected. I went and created a new shape layer, set down a new path and tried to run the script again and it worked. Why is the older layer not functioning as expected?   

I'm having an issue with shadows when 3D objects are animated using Advanced 3D renderer and an Environment Light in After Effects. When the objects move, the shadow stutters/jumps instead of animating smoothly, even though all rendering settings in the Advanced 3D menu are set to maximum."

i am using  object matte to roto a person (in front of a greenscreen). the initial frame looks ok. but as soon as it starts propagating, the lines become wavy/stepping as in the image below. I had it on other footage as well. but on some other footage it works well. Does anyone have the same issue? ideas to get around it? that tool is useless this way. project is 32bit, Footage is 4,5k,. btw. Thanks for advice.
