How to reduce the size of the table as it extending outside the text boundry.Unable to adjust with cursor, there is option visible to edit the table.Also need to know how to edit the existing tag or EDD which is already available.Any experts to help me out?

Hi community,publishing a book file to chm creates an unexpected structure in the chm toc (hhc file).In the book we use folders to control the numbering of chapters, sections, subsections. Numbering works fine in book toc. No problems when we publish PDFs. Numbering works fine in chm as expected.The usage of folders results in unexpected nesting in the chm toc. I'm still working my way through ditamap.   I need to demote several pages under a chapter page, but the header/footer of those demoted pages couldn't access the chapter text, which is obviously in another XML file. How to carry over some of the text from chapter pages for header/footer purpose?   Regards, Andy

When converting a task topic to FrameMaker with a <note type="warning"> wrapped in an <info> element doesn't seem to flow down to the attribute type="warning (or caution)".  Even when the note is selected, the Structure View still shows the parent step or substep element. Hi All,If I have a Book with 10 Chapters; in each chapter, I have a Variable called "Manual Name".Is there a way to change a variable value, so it can be updated in entire book at once?If it involves more scripting, how difficult would that be?Any insight would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

We are having some issues in our group where Track Text Edits doesn't work as expected for us in UnStructured Frame: 1) Does not take effect immediately. Open a file immediately after enabling Track Text Edits and open a file, track changes is never enabled yet.2) Does not enable or does not enable consistently throughout all book files. When a book file is opened, text edits may or may not be actually enabled; it's hit or miss.3) Does not persist through single editing session. While editing a file, text changes often stops working.4) Does not persist upon saving and reopening a file or book. After making edits with track changes enabled,  What we typically have to do in either situation:1) Select the book file and re-enable Track Text Edits.2) Do that again.3) Update book.4) Save and close book.5) Exit FrameMaker.6) Reopen FrameMaker, reopen book.7) Open a random file and see if text tracking is enabled.    7a) If not working, do that whole process again

Hello.  Is there a way to edit just one variable in a multi-chapter book's footer?  I only need to change the date, but if I "Import Variables" all my variables change to the source master page.  Thank you .

Having installed FrameMaker 2022, I'm doing some benchmark testing before rolling it out to the rest of our content creators. We stuck with FrameMaker 2019 because of two issues we were having in FrameMaker2020: Opening/saving/closing documents over VPN is substancially slower - sometimes up to 6x slower. Unfortunately, copying the files to a local drive it not an option for us. Graphics heavy documents are slow to work with. FrameMaker2020 seems to only load/render the graphics for the visible page. Each time a page becomes active, you have to wait 10-20 seconds for the graphics to render/load. Painful when you're trying to scroll past several pages. FrameMaker2019 either loaded/rendered the graphics for all pages when the document was loaded, or it loaded/rendered the graphics for the visible page substantically faster.  We're still having the above bugbears in FrameMaker2022.   However, we've run into a new issue. Ok, here's what I've done so far (in roughly the order I did it): 1 created an EDD.2 exported a DTD from the EDD.3 created a template with the proper page layout and imported all my element definitions into it.4 created a configuration file5 Under Structure >  Application Definitions > Edit Application definition, I created a structured application (SystemManual) by providing the paths to the DTD, template, and configuration file. I saved the changes to the structapps file. It is my understanding that I should now be able to do the following:1 open a blank .fm document2 select Structure > Set Structured Application > System Manual3 In my blank document, I think I should be able to use the master pages and elements defined in my template. However, the elements catalogue remains empty and my master pages have not updated. I know that I can import most of what I need from the template, but I'm specifically trying to get a grasp on the structapps file a

Here's our scenario:We typically produce our training documentation in PDF. Occasionally, we agree to provide a client with an MS Word version of the documentation so they can add client-/process-specific details for their internal use. In the later case, we produce the document to PDF as normal, then use Adobe Pro to convert it to MS Word. (There is a bit of tidy-up in the MS Word version to do, but let's ignore that for now).When we produce the documentation to PDF, we use a corporate (commercially bought) font (let's call it Font A). When we will be converting the PDF to MS Word, we currently have to go through and update all the paragraph styles in MS Word to use a common (free) font (let's call it Font B).We don't use DITA or XML. We don't want to go down the route of using Paragraph Styles in FM - we moved away from that because our writers would constantly change the properties on the Paragraph Styles to how 'they like things to look', instead of keeping with our corporate style

I´ve done some research and I am new to Adobe FM.As part of the transition from MS Word to Adobe FM I should be keeping what was set as the normal template of the company for our documentation. Let´s say that the header of the page has a 1 row three columns table where different info about the document and company logo apperars distributed in each cell. Footer has a similar structure with a disclaimer and a logo in a 1 row two column table.Page numbers appear behind that table in the footer. I am not even looking for an answer of how to exactly do it but, it is important for me to know form your experience if:- Is it possible? Did not find any similar procedure online. If yes....any clues on where to start to look at?Thank you in advance¡¡

Why after replacing a missing font (Helvetica -> Arial)  several paragraphs get whitespaces collapsed? As soon I type a space the justification return normal.  Is there a way to fix the formatting aberration using one command for the all frame file istead of going paragraph by paragraph?  I attached a video that shows the beahviour.  https://youtube.com/shorts/DsNaFFCDqQ0?feature=share  

I am working with a colleague on a project. I need to be able to use QR codes (which will be set in stone once they are created) to link to a specific section of an owner's manual. The challenging part is that the owner's manual is constantly being updated, so a static bookmark won't work. Is there a way for him to create a bookmark that will always point to the correct paragraph even after the document is updated with extra text (page numbers may change and things might move around)?

All 4 charts are 1419 px  X 1052 px. In the DITA, each chart is in its own topic.The <fig> element has an output class that tells FrameMaker the landscape master page should be applied to it. This output class is referenced in reference page. Here is the DITA content of each topic:Here is the converted content. I have tried creating a LOFfrom scratch and updating an existing one, but no matter what I do, the figure number and page number do not display. The 17.0.5 maker.ini contains the preference:   EnableStructuredCrossRef=OffI have tried removing this preference, leaving it as is, and changing Off to On. I did not notice a difference in my ability to created structured cross-references. Furthermore, the Go to Source button in the Cross-Reference dialog behaved the same way. Does this preference affect FM's behavior?       --Lynne

Hi, I'm setting up my first EDD. I'm trying to create a list element that allows the user to select attributes for bulleted or numbered formatting. Hi! I recently upgraded to FrameMaker 2022. When I try to publish a larger book into a pdf through Save As Pdf, the generated pdf is missing some of the images, while some of the images do appear normally. However, when I publish a pdf of any of the single fm components, the very same images appear just fine. When publishing any smaller books, all images appear just fine.The problematic book is around 147 pages long and has several images per most pages. The files were created with an older version of FrameMaker. The images DO appear if I use Print Book and Adobe PDF printer though.Is there some setting or something I could do to make all the images appear the other way as well?Hope  I could explain it clearly and thank you so much for help in advance!
