I'm placing a PNG file with a transparent background into Illustrator and it's showing a white background in the file. I've managed to remove the background again by selecting the 'Opacity & Mask Define Knockout Shape' tick box in the Opacity settings (image below)  However, when I save the file as an PDF, the white boxes re-appear (image below)Can anyone please help to find a solution to this issue or know what the problem could be?Thank you!

I am hoping someone might have suggestions or be able to assist.  I was given this file that has been outlined and I am not able to identify the fonts because I don't have them on my computer.  Because they are outlined, the font finders aren't able to recognize.   I have tried importing to photoshop and using the find font but again I can't because the fonts aren't on my computer.  Anyone have any suggestions or know what these fonts might be?  Much appreciated!  

Hello all, Im a retro computing fan for nexstep,i have been porting open source software for nextstep intel, considering that next hardware is slow and limited. I knew that adobe had illustrator 3.0 for m68k but not nexstep intel. For this potential project and under adobe authorization, it would need some info on de legacy code. I know its a no, but i wonder if adobe could provide some info on the m68k nexstep code, and some kind of authorization on this. Just thoughts!

Hello, I am trying to create multiple stroked paths and then outline them.  Upon outline stroke, I get paths where the paths overlap… (please see attached images)… I find it hard to select and delete these parts of the path… I am trying to create an outline of the entirety of the paths without the overlapping paths...just one outline… help???

Afternoon folks - minor issue. I am working on the attached file, but when I export this business cards to PDF the linked image icons compress down and leave these horrible line artifacts along the sides. Wondering what causes this and how to fix this? Many thanks.

When linking to an AI file, then embedding: why can't illustrator embed the original AI data, with the original grouping and layer order? It is its own file type after all.

Hi, hoping someone can help, is there any way to rotate the perspective grid in illustrator using 2 point perspective? When in 2-point perspective the “non perspective” plane is default up and down, I need this “non perspective line” i.e the straight plane to be left and right which would put the vanishing points top and bottom rather than left and right.  For further clarification if you see the image attached below id need the grid to be rotated 45degs to match my images perspective. Ive been using the perspective grid for so long now and there really doesn’t seem to be an option to sort such basic functionality. Thanks! 

This isn't the first time I've encountered a visual bug: I'm snapping an object to the corner of another object. The snapping to the corner works fine using the guidelines and coordinates, but the object still doesn't visually "touch" the corner of the other object. Unlike Photoshop and Indesign the Illustrator team seem to have a dislike of color profiles, and there are two areas that should be revised to fully embrace them. If you create or open a file without a profile, then deliberately add one, the expectation when you hit save is the file now includes the profile just like Ps and Id. Except it doesn’t. You have to know the secret trick of performing a Save-As and checking on “Embed ICC Profiles”. What does putting that in the Save-As dialog accomplish except confuse everyone? The preference of including or removing a profile happens while you have the document open so there shouldn’t be any further action required when simply saving. The other place is when saving out a pdf using the “Illustrator Default” preset. You would be under the false pretense this is the least destructive and safest pdf preset, but for some reason it does not include color profiles. I always have to create my own custom Illustrator Default that includes profiles.

Hi, I’m trying to reassign my doc’s profile from Don’t Manage Color to U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) 2, but it doesn’t hold. When I close the doc (after saving, of course) and then reopen it, the profile has reset back to Don’t Manage Color.I’ve been using Illustrator for decades, and never before encountered this problem. Then again, I rarely create printed docs these days, so maybe I’ve overlooked a step?(Note: Actually, the issue started earlier this morning in the version previous to 30.6 (30.5.something?). I updated to 30.6 because of this issue, but still experiencing the same behavior.)

I think a few others are having this issue, but I'm yet to see any response and/or fix from Adobe.  Retype has successfully identified the font in an image, but there is no 'apply' button (only an exit button) so no way to convert into editable text.  Retype add-ons are already activated in CC App.   Anyone found a solution ?

Snap to Point is ON but it’s not snapping. Smart Guides works but the lines can be pretty distracting.  Is this happening with anyone else?

Can someone tell me an easy way to make several objects to be of equal size/ or equal width / or equal height. I haven't been able to find such a command in Illustrator.

If it's available, where can I find the Illustrator UXP API documentation? I can find docs for Photoshop (require('photoshop')) and InDesign (require('indesign')), but nothing for Illustrator (require('illustrator')). Beim Start von Illustrator erscheint immer eine Fehlermeldung: „Illustrator möchte auf Daten von anderen Apps zugreifen.” Every time I launch Illustrator, an error message appears: “Illustrator wants to access data from other apps.” Hallo Adobe,es wäre wünschenswert, wenn ihr diese nervige Meldung, wie im Anhang zu sehen, ebenfalls verschwinden lassen könntet. In InDesign habt ihr das ja auch geschafft. Bei Bridge ist es das gleiche Theater wie in Illustrator. Danke für eure Bemühungen.It would be great if you could also make this annoying message—as shown in the attachment—disappear. You’ve already managed to do that in InDesign. With Bridge, it’s the same hassle as in Illustrator. Thank you for your efforts.

When I “join path” with a path that looks good (but obviously isn't) It creates paths with self intersecting lines… (paths that loop back around) How can I prevent this?  With a plug in, I can see open paths but can’t see a way for illustrator to show where the break in the path actually is…?

When I try to open Illustrator I get a message saying I can’t use illustrator at this time.  

Hello,When I'm drawing lines in Illustrator, I can normally click on the end point of a path to continue drawing in a different direction. However, in this new file, it doesn't work at all.I've attached a video that clearly shows the issue (  )Does anyone know which setting could be causing this?Thanks in advance!

I cannot get a transparent png file into my Ai document. They come in with a black background.I have never had this issue before-till this week. I used to work with these all the time! Is there some setting that i may have inadvertently checked off?  the png was saved correctly out of photoshop, and I can see the transparency in bridge. Importing photoshop files with transparency is still working fine. it's only PNGs that are the problem.anyone? thanks!

Whenever I open a .ai file I get this “Text Import Options” window. I click Okay or Cancel and either it shows me a message that it failed to save or reappears and it disappears after three times or so of me closing it. I can still open my files and they seem to be working correctly but this window just keep showing and I’m not sure what’s the issue.I recently had to reinstall Illustrator and after that it started happening. It doesn’t matter if the file is saved in Dropbox or locally, it appears regardless. Again, there seems to be no issue with the files since I can work on them normally after closing the Text Import Options window but it’s annoying to keep having to do it every time

In the gradient panel in illustrator it would be extremely beneficial to have an option that makes all your stops evenly spaced.
