No idea what is going on with CC18 (mac osx 11.2.1), but the pathfinder tool is not cooperating.See attached. Merely trying to use a tool I always use to create transparent lettering (knock out of a background). I use the Minus Front tool on two objects, and this is what I get. Odd, unselectable chunks of the background shape. It's not a redraw error, it persists and shows up when placed in indesign.Any ideas would be really welcomed. Thanks!

I have a document with 300+ artboards, each with an icon on it, and all artboards are named with what the icon depicts. How can I quickly search for the icon I need? (right now I'm just scrolling around looking for a specific visual). Is there a better way to set this up? (ie, a symbol library? I tried to search those though, and couldn't find a search feature). Thank you.

Hello all,I'm working in Illustrator CS6, making a business card.I have text and shapes currently in white that I'm trying to change color to #9F183DWhen I select text & shapes, I select the color picker and then paste the color code in the # field.I click "OK". But I the color of the objects go to grey.I see that in the color preview squareI open the color picker again and the color is in: 444444.So the Color Picker did not apply the color I inputed.I've been working that way for a while, done this dozens time but its not working now.Can someone tel me WTF is going on ?Thank you for your helpAlexandre

Salve a tutti i membri della Community. Sono un grafico che opera nel settore della stampa.In questi ultimi mesi (circa 3 mesi) ho molta difficoltà nel realizzare buoni contenuti idonei alla stampain quanto in fase di elaborazione e salvataggio file (con Ai e Id) la grafica risulta essere perfetta.Prima di andare in stampa faccio le ultime verifiche con Acrobat ed è tutto ok. Ma poi il RIP del macchinario da stampa in fase di interpretazione e rasterizzazione file perde alcuni elementi (testo anche se convertito in tracciato, sfumature, loghi ecc...). Sono 10 anni che lavoro in questo ambito e non è accaduto mai nulla del genere.L'unico modo che ho per produrre grafiche idonee alla stampa, e non trovare spiaceovli sorprese a lavoro finito, è quello di rasterizzarle prima del salvataggio.Ovviamente il file risulta molto più pesante, perde la qualità e a volte non si gestisce bene.Avete qualche consiglio da darmi?

Hi Everyone, I had a plan that I thought would be pretty simple to record as an action, but is proving to be impossible.  I'm building a 3D mockup in Fusion 360, but the easiest way for me to do the initial setup was to build the shapes of the panels in Illustrator.  I broke all the shapes into separate artboards so that I could easily import each panel separately as I needed them.  I did a save as .eps so that I could break out all the artboards into individual files, which worked, BUT it kept each artboard in its original position in the workspace, i.e. not with the upper left corner at X=0, Y=0.   Here's where my problem is.  I figured I could easily just record selecting the artboard tool, typing 0s into the X and Y coordinates, save as DXF and close.  Nope.  Can't record selecting the artboard tool, and can't record typing 0s into X and Y coordinates, even if i just leave the Artboard tool selected.   This particular project i

So I need to make lists of 30 numbers on a page until it reaches 308. What is the best way to do this? I've tried a script but it's giving an error and was just wondering if there was a better way to do it or if anyone has a better script to use. Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Exiftool shows there is a "For" tag coming from [PostScript] on my Illustrator PDF when saved with "Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities".  This tag includes my name followed by a comma, as in: "First Last,". My name is not identified in the regular metadata fields such as Author/Creator, etc., and doesn't show up when I view the metadata otherwise.   Where does Illustrator get the information from to write this tag? Can I retrieve this data using Illustrator ExtendScript? If I wanted to read/write to this location, what would be the namespace where it would be found?   Environment: I am using Illustrator 2023 & 2024 with a corporate license (not signed in via the Cloud) on MacOS Sonoma 14.5/

Hello everyone,  I have one artwork that needs to be resized approximately 600 times. The core artwork remains the same, only the overall width, height changes while maintaining proportionality (no stretching,shrinking) of the artwork.  Example sizes in cm (widthxheight):  81x71212x90152x173115x26091x8151x82 etc.  How can I do this fast without resizing the artwork to these sizes 1 by 1. I am new to illustrator and learning it.  Thank you. 

If its a vector graphic then why can't we have an infinite drawing area.

Pessoal, boa tarde, estou copiando e colando um arquivo do illustrator para o photohop como objeto inteligente, só que quando cliko duas vezes para editar no illustrator está aparecendo uma mensagem de erro e não está abrindo o arquivo no ilustrato. Alguém já passou por isso?

How do I reduce file size in illustrator when exporting? As I'm only able to send the file via wetransfer as it is to big to send by email

Hi Y'all Adding or editing instances of the shape is OK. But regarding the use of the circle ankle I cannot get any satisfying explaination about what to expect and what to do… At some point the shape is inverted and then you cannot revert to the original (except with com Z of course ;-)) Look at the video… I would add : at the end I press option key on Mac to get this effect. But there is no way to enter size and angle values numerically in the dialog box which is limited to the number of instances If any of you has infos I will be very grateful!

Worked last week and not this week.Cannot copy from a photoshop b/w .bmp document and paste into illustrator without this happening. (same thing happened when saved as tiff and tried to open in illustrator)Converting to greyscale will not work for my needs.  And I need to maintain the transparent background.Before I could just lasso and copy and paste - now it's giving either black background or crazy lines.I've attached photo of what it used to look like v. what I'm getting now.  Can anyone help?  I'm about to lose it.

This is an old bug going way back. Create a new document in INCHES. Import a DXF made with inches and all will be well. The file will import to scale. Now, create a new document in PIXELS. Save it somewhere and close it. Then import that same DXF file. Even if you choose inches in the import settings the scale will be wrong because Illustrator is still thinking in pixels.  If you want an imported DXF's scale to be correct make sure your last document was created useing inches (or whatever the native unit of the DXF file is).

Maybe it's just me, but I have never used Points as unit in the 20+ years I have been using illustrator.I use Inches. occationally i get documents in CM and now a days I often work in Pixels. But Never Points. (save for Font size) It would be nice if we could change the default unit for the print tab.

Maybe someone can enlighten me as to why Adobe Illustrator is not able to display a 0.015 mm stroke around a circle correctly. It looks like a mess. At 0.02mm the stroke looks still OK but as soon as you go below 0.02mm the problems start.

I have many images in an Ai file, they are currently linked to a folder on my SSD, but I want to link them in the cloud, so that they are in the cloud and do it automatically so as not to be linking one by one, since there are many files .
