Illustrator 2026 displays the colors of a placed PSD file differently than Photoshop.I checked the software settings in the screenshots below: both files use the Adobe RGB (1998) color profile, and the color management settings have been synchronized via Adobe Bridge. I’ve also attached a minimal reproduction file (psd only; I could not attach Adobe Illustrator file with error so I converted to Illustrator editable PDF). I hope this issue can be fixed soon.

Hello,there's already this oldish post about it:https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/looking-for-javascript-commands-for-path-finder-operation/td-p/12355960For a long time, I had these operations saved as actions, but I'm looking for ways to write my actions into scripts so that I can have them all running from single scripts with minimal config time.Is there a solution to this yet? pathfinder effects are not similar to the operations found in the pathfinder panel: e.g: if we're trying subtract on a shape that has 2 strokes, it would work from the panel, but I found no way to make it work in that case with pathfinder from the effect panel.I know that I can make a script that writes a file to disk and then uploads actions into illustrator and launches the wanted action, but is there any simpler way?

Hello, I am hitting a wall with something that should be easy.  When I select an object (the black shape that surrounds the "skateboard") and try to change the fill from black to white, it shows it as white in the info but visually it is still black.  I am much more used to photoshop than illustrator, but this seems so elementary, i'm not sure whats going on...the object is selected and the layer is unlocked... any help is greatly appresiated.

I am creating a font using simple strokes in Illustrator and FontSelf as well as FontLab to create a family of fonts. The stroked fonts look as expected, but once I create them with either FontSelf or FontLab, there is an inordinate amount of points added to the outlined shape; either if I outline them before creating the font or afterwards. My question is twofold: 1.) why does illustrator suck at outline simple strokes, and 2.) is there amore efficient workflow that would retain the personality of the font without having to remove a bunch of cruft-points that were introduced during the outline process?[The image shows the issue from the original glyph created by strokes, font, converted to outlines (with way too many points), and after the Simplify command]

This issue is brand new for me, and began immediately after updating to PS 27.0 and Illustrator 30.0. When I edit a vector smart object embedded or linked in Photoshop 27.0, sometimes the smart object updates incorrectly. When the smart object updates, it appears that elements of the smart object have suddenly disappeared. I've discovered, however, that often it's showing elements in the wrong layer order within the smart object. However, when I go back into Illustrator to edit it, it appears correctly in Illustrator. I've also noticed that elements within the smart object that use a transparency mask will disappear, OR, sometimes just the transparency mask itself will disappear. I have learned that this problem often occurs when I edit only one part of my smart object, then hit save (though, I don't think it happens every time, so I probably haven't fully isolated the circumstances). Hello. I was working on a document in Illustrator. I decided to go and save it. At the exact time the saving was initiated, my electricity went off. After i had power back, i loaded Illustrator, the window with the recovered files popped up but i pressed "cancel" because i made another successful save just a minutes prior to that one when the electricity went down. I tried to open that file from a folder and after it was loaded, all the work was gone. There was only one artboard left with some random shape. I see that the size of the file is still around 6mb but it appears empty. Is there any possible way to restore that data? I've lost 10h of work, its so frustrating.Also i can not attact the file here, it says that the content of the file is different from it's extension.Thank you.

When creating a clipping mask, there is a shape that appears where there should be nothing but transparency. But when I open the file on another computer, the shape is gone. I think it might be a setting or a bug that makes it impossible to clipping mask anything. For example, this white shape is the top object that will mask the green objects. When I use the clipping mask, the swoop on the left should be empty. But when I clip it, theres a random grey box that appears. That is not supposed to be there. It happens with any shape I use clipping mask. A random solid shape takes place of the transparency.  I have reinstalled illustrator, updated, made new files, no fix. Any help is appreciated.

This morning I found that Illustrator 30.1 will not open. I get the spinning beachball of death and have to force quit the application.   I have restarted the computer and made sure all updates have been applied. I also reset the preferences as suggested in another discussion.   Macbook Pro 2023 macOS Tahoe 26.2 Illustrator 30.1 Creative Cloud 6.8.0.821   Hoping for a quick fix as this program is central to all the work I need to do everyday.

A bug that occurs far too frequently is that I'll save an Illustrator file, then export it to Photoshop to flatten it for proofing and printing smaller files. But let's say I get a change request, I'll make the change, re-save the Illustrator file, and open it again in Photoshop. However, this new file is now showing the text in the new spot and the old spot. I thought this could be a Photoshop issue, but the only way to fix it is to open the illustrator file, seelct all, copy, create new file, paste, and re-save.

It has been 4 days since Illustrator keeps on crashing or won't open. I already updated all drivers, reinstalled CC and all apps, runned antivirus... I really tried everyting and it's so frustrating. Can someone please help?   <Title renamed by moderator>

Hi, I've got templates set up which have text in them. The text is all Arial 10pt. When I click to add new text, the default is always Myriad Pro.  I've made sure the 'Character' is Arial when saving the template. I've also gone to "Character Styles" and made sure [Normal Character Style] is set to Arial.  Everything says Arial, but when I click to type new text, its still Myriad Pro. Its driving me nuts. Hi,For the last 8 years I've been creating documents where I save layered PDFs as the final version.  Often I am required to revisit these layered PDFs to amend items on individual layers.   I have noticed that when people create these documents in the latest version of illustrator and save it as a PDF the layers are no longer visible in my slightly older illustrator programme. It apears as a flattened file.  I'm happy to update illustrator and use Ai. files but how can I retain access to the 8 years worth of old documents with layers.  I can't go through and resave all of them as Ai. files (there are 1000s). Is there a way I can switch to an earlier version of illustrator (whilst still having a new version installed) so that I can continue to amend the PDFs?   As mentioned, I'm happy to save Ai files going forward, but I need to be able to edit layers on old PDFs.  Thanks for any insight.

Hello allI need to create some vector artwork in both RGB and CMYK.New to this and would really appreciatre some advice on the correct workflow. Would I produce the artwork in RGB is it as simple as saving a copy and changing the colour mode to CMYK. Doing this does make the colours muted as you would expect?Is the best workflow?Thanks for your time/expertise.

Illustrator 30.1 on MacOS 14.6.1 I recently had to process some ai-maps with drop shadows that were placed in Indesign. Their resolution was flagged as insufficient so I changed the document raster effects settings accordingly.  But the changed settings were not applied to all objects that had Drop Shadows applied so I manually confirmed the settings to force an update (which was bothersome due to the number of elements).    Does anyone have an idea what I may have been overlooking?  Is there a way to force an update of all Effects in an Illustrator file?    Thanks in advance for any insights,  Pfaffenbichler 

Hello!Everytime I have copy and pasted a gradient mesh since downloading Illustrator 2026 they have pasted as images. It's been a pain since I found a way to work this out (creating a symbol) but it shouldn't be like this. Is there any other option to fix this? Should I reinstall the software?

Je ne peux plus ouvrir mes fichiers malgré le fait qu'ils soient bien en (.ai) et aucune sauvegarde n'apparaît dans les dossiers de sauvegarde automatique alors que mon fichier date du 09/01/2026. La seule sauvegarde qui apparaît est du 06/01/2026...Comment puis-je récupérer mes fichiers ? 

I haven't worked in Adobe Illustrator for a while, and suddenly the “new file” button has stopped working. I've tried many things to fix it, but nothing helps. I would like to use the new menu instead of the classic one selected in the preferences. Everything works normally in Adobe Photoshop. I've also tried cleaning the AI files and reinstalling, but nothing has helped.

For the love of all that is print production, can we please get the ability back that CC libraries remember layers using "place copy". It's been a know issues since the release of 2017! For a print production enviroment, libraries are basically unusuable as is in Illustrator.

I've just been doing some artwork in Illustrator and it has now developed this annoying bug. I had a piece of text that was in Pantone 419C ink with a coloured overprint keyline. I needed to change the text from Pantone 419C to 100% black. I clicked on it with the pointer tool and hit the black swatch in the colour window and it said it had changed to 100% black - however when I opened the saved PDF the text was still in the Pantone 419C? I went back into illustrator and the text still said it was 100% black. Bizarre. I then selected the text with the text tool and guess what - it came up as Pantone 419C? Really weird. Whilst the text was highlighted I changed the Pantone 419C text to 100% black. And that fixed it. Adobe you need to fix this - as its a bad bug. Artwork could go out specced in the wrong colours. See attached video. By the way I'm using Illustrator 30.1 on Mac OS Sequoia 15.6.1

Hallo zusammen, Mein adobe illustrator stürzt quasi immer ab, schon bei der ersten Aktion.Habe mit dem cloud-cleaner ALLES gereinigt und creative cloud neu geladen und ebenso AI neu downgeloaded. AI ist gleich wieder abgestürzt.Jetzt kann ich AI gar nicht mehr öffnen: ich klicke auf den Icon AI, die Uhr zeigtsich für ein paar Sekunden, das wars...Was tun um ihn wieder zum Laufen zu bringen?Danke für alle guten Tipsrolf
