Using the latest AI version 29.1When I click in into an existing text box and edit the copy - the font is changed for the new typed text. It doesn't maintain the font of the text that I am editing.Bug? Any ideas why?

What is it in this text block (see atttached file) that causes Illustrator 2025 to crash when opening the file. It opens fine in Illustrator 2024. BTW I couldnt actually attach the original ai file as I got an error message (see screenshot). So I had to save as a PDF. Same outcome though. The PDF opens fine in 2024 - but crashes 2025. 

What's the deal with Adobe Illustrator 2025? It doesn't autosave before crashing? I lost a ton of work - can anyone recommend a solution?

When I clip a transparent image in Illustrator and export it (usually as a PDF), everything looks fine in Adobe Acrobat. But when I open the same file in Outlook, Microsoft Edge, or other web-based viewers, I see a gray background behind the clipped image. I understand that Acrobat has superior rendering capabilities, but clients often view PDFs in their default apps, so I need the file to look correct everywhere, not just in Acrobat. NOTE: It only happens with some of the images and not others. I remove the background from an image in Photoshop.I save it to my Creative Cloud Library.I place it into Illustrator from the CC Library.I apply a clipping mask to crop it.I export the file as a PDF or PNG. The only reliable fix I’ve found is to drop in a PNG of the transparent image directly into Illustrator instead of using the CC Library asset. This seems to preserve transparency better across all viewers.

I have been having problems with working on illustrator with the brush tools or any of the other drawing tools. I have a surface pro and when I use my finger a line shows up but not with my stylus. The stylus I have the one that was recommended most for the surface. I also went over to photoshop to see if it would work and my stylus works on photoshop just fine. Does anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it?

I am trying to develop a graphic design scheme wherein the overlapping area of circles on the text changes its colour. I used 'hue' in the transparency blend mode. However, I'm seeing a peculiar behaviour by illustrator where it's only affecting the last vertical row of the circles even though all the circles have the same appearance. Hi everyone, I have Illustrator up to date . GPU driver is up to date and suddently zooming using ALT+Mouse Scroll doesn't work as it used to before. Now if I try to zoom out , it barrely zooms out , but if I want to zoom in , it goes to pixel wise. CTRL+0 helps a bit , but I can't work like this.  i9-11900k, gpu 4080, W11 (up to date) 

When Create Outlines is invoked for a multiline text, the Grouping could be much better.Currently, when choosing to ungroup the result, every character becomes a separate object.How great would it be when Create Outlines makes a 4 level Group hierarchy this way: Text > Paragaphs > Lines > Words > Characters So 4x ungroup results in separate characters.3x gives separate words (separator = space), 2x gives separate lines (separator = return), 1x gives separate Paragraphs (empty line / double return = separator). Makes sense, doesn't it?

I've always wondered why Illustrator switches hidden layers back on (and unlocks them) when duplicating an artboard? I have it set to copy hidden layers - but its a bit annoying if say I have some hidden layers (which I want to keep hidden for ref) but then they all get switched back on and unlocked when I duplicate my artborad (and in fact unlock and turn back on the ones in my original artboard). Is there a way I can get Illustrator to copy a new artborad and keep the layers switched off and locked just like the artborad I am copying? 

Glassmorphism designs are quite difficult to create using Adobe Illustrator as vectors, but it's much easier to design them in Figma or Adobe XD. The problem is, when exporting these designs as vectors from Figma or XD, the only option is SVG. And once you open that SVG file in Illustrator, all the glassmorphism effects get lost. So, the question is—do the contributors who upload glassmorphism designs or icons actually create them directly in Illustrator?If they create the design in Illustrator, like a glassmorphism icon design, then how is it done, and where can I learn it? Hello i have a problem with the swatches after the last update .The update contained an option in the colors "show recent colors" , after disabling it  , the swatches in the file will randomly  disappear or change the preview from small to large.Is there a workaround for this issue  ?

How do i add my newly symbol design to 3D and Materials under graphics using adobe illustrator, when i click on material tab i only find All Material and Material properties i do not see Materia Graphics, where my symbols designs can be added to graphics, i also did not see ad graphics.

I'm having issues when printing to my TA-20. It is wanting to scale up my images to the edge of the page. My file is the same width as the roll in the printer (17") and the artwork doesn't bleed off the edge of the artboard (page). In the print dialog box the page size is Defined by Driver. The roll size is defined with no margins in the Page Setup window and set up for the TA-20. Everywhere there is a scaling option it is set at 100% or Do Not Scale, but every time I print it seems as if it is scaled up to 102% and running my artwork off the edges of the roll. I did measure the roll, and it is correct @ 17". I've tried Canon's support forum and have gotten absolutely no response, so that avenue is a dead-end and very frustrating.

First, apologies if there's an answer to this question somewhere already, I searched and couldn't find one, and I made a quick sketch of what I did rather than trying to find the points I'm struggling with on my original work, so don't judge the example too harshly! 🙂 My actual task and questions are in bold type, for clarity. So I am creating a complex logo for a client that involves a lot of overlapping shapes. In the end, the circles in the example will be filled shapes, and the front "snake" shape will have an outline only, and no fill. I was struggling to find a way to take the front "snake" shape (which I drew with the blob brush :-/) and position it over the circle shapes so that the circles only showed along the edges of the snake and not in the middle of the snake (which will have no fill) so I used pathfinder tool (divide) together with shape builder (to rejoin the outline of the snake that had been divided by the pathfinder tool into several part

Hi. We're trying the Dimension Tool for some EGD architectural type drawings we're doing. In the past, some of the team (not me) have used CADTools by Hot Door for these types of things. But trying the new Dimension Tool to see if it can suffice. My exeperience so far is that it is VERY clunky. A lot of our dimensions are needing to be drawn manually, as they don't necessarily coincide with a specific path or object in Illustrator (e.g., measuring part of the distance down a wall). As we've taken measurements in the field, we do need these to be a specific value as well. So I've been having to try to meticulously watch the dimension as I drag out a measurement, hoping I nail it. The document scale is 1:1, if that matters. - But with manual dimensions, is there ANY adjustments you can make to them after you've drawn them out (beyond the general styling that is in the Properties panel)?  Many times I've needed to nudge the beginning of the extension lines up or down a

I have really gone crazy with the annoying suspension in the mouse and work, knowing that my computer is neither weak nor average, it is in the strong category.My problem is that I don't know why the mouse moves slowly and lagging, knowing that it is fast on the desktop, games and browsing. Pretty much like the subject line says. I often need to click twice in the panel to get the color to apply. This also happens in InDesign. I'm on Sequoia 15.6. Running a MacBook Pro 16-inch 2023 Apple M2 Max with 96 GB memoryIllustrator 29.7.1 and InDesign 20.5 (this has been happening across multiple version updates)

I've always wished the "Color" window and "Swatches" were sort of merged... I wont' bother explaining why its useful to keep the Swatches window open, as i have to assume everybody is constantly using this. I toggle over to the Color window when i'm viewing the color name and swapping the color/fill. In the latest update of Illustrator, they've updated Swatches to include a stroke and fill selector (as well as a list of recent colors, which is pretty cool). they've not however included the swapping arrow, or name of stroke, or that little default fill selection. can we please just add this little section to the top of swatches and i can pretty much be done with the Color window! What we want: What we have:

Hello, I am having a blend issue where the edges get these gray lines, and no matter how many steps or distances, the edges still appear. There are no stroke or color effects on top of them.

Illustrator has stopped letting me open PNG files. I never had an issue before until maybe a few days ago. I've tried every way I can think of to open it; right clicking on the image in the desktop, file open in illustrator, etc. No matter what I do, the file just will not open. Illustrator doesn't even give me an error or anything, the image simply just does not open in Illustrator.
