HiI am using shapes and gradients to create a design. I have noticed that when using the Freeform Gradient tool it creates areas close to the edge of the shape darker than any swatch/colour used to generate the gradient. This makes it very difficult to match colours of two separate objects. The below image illustrates the issue I am experiencing. The top middle box is a linear gradient (dark blue and white) and the edge colours match the corresponding swatches of the vertical boxes underneath. The same can be said for the radial gradient in the center. However, when a freeform gradient is used, the left edge beyond the blue coloured points (which are the same blue as the vertical rectangle) is darker. Why does illustrator ignore the colour range I have given it when using the freeform gradient tool? Interestingly, I am unable to generate the same phenomena regarding areas becoming lighter! Basically, I need to control the range of colour/shade so that I can match edges. The only 'work

I’m currently using the latest version of Adobe Illustrator 2025 (v29.8.1), and honestly, I’m really disappointed.Even in 2025, it’s frustrating to see so many issues and bugs still persisting: It feels much slower compared to previous versions.Newly installed fonts don’t appear until I relaunch Illustrator.The “Scale Strokes & Effects” option keeps turning off automatically.I’ve faced these problems on both my laptop and PC, and my PC isn’t underpowered . it’s running an AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 32GB RAM, and an RTX 3080 GPU.Despite that, I still experience lag and frequent crashes, which is really disappointing for such a powerful setup... Very very poor quality product 

How do I fix this? It is effectively 100% of the time it crashes. I have restarted my computer multiple times, and reinstalled illustrator on my computer. It happens for every file I open. 

Hi, I'm using the latest version of Illustrator on PC.I have a file with a single PDF image linked (Original PDF is 24mb) approx A3 size.I have 80 artboards (each 27 x 42mm) covering the image which all slightly overlap so that I can tile it back together after printing (actually printing each artboard to fit A3 then taping to create a 2m x 2m picture)I am working this way because I need to have control over where each section of the image prints - traditional tile printing overlaps along the wrong lines.There is nothing else in the image, just 1 PDF (linked not embedded) and the artboards. The problem is that the file size is over 4gb! The file size was 2mb with just the linked PDF, but then jumped to 4gb once the artboards were added. Turning 'PDF compatible file' off makes no difference. Can someone explain this and help me work out how to reduce the file size please?Thanks in advance 🙂

Hello, Community! After last Illustrator update i've faced an Issue with Line tool, particulary with Dashed Line option. If i Choose dashed line and draw it, i can specify dashed lines stroke Lenght and than i can specify Gap between strokes. The problem is that after you put specific number in dashed line gap and leave the field(like click outside or push Enter) Gap option drops to starting position. When trying to change it again, it appears inside the Input field, and instantly affects the way line looks if you change Gap setting. P.S. You can see it on the video below. I am not deleting anything from Gap input, it's just automatically clears it after i switch to any other tools or even next input in following dialog box. 

The ability to add links to shapes to create buttons no longer works in the latest version. When exporting to PDF, the function disappears.When opening files that previously had them and were working, when exporting with the current version of Illustrator, the hyperlink disappears.I've checked all the PDF format options, and none of them work.I'm using version 29.7.1.

[2067] »J'ai essayé le PDF comme contournement, mais :Les dimensions sont fausses.Il y a un décalage (surtout sur les courbes).Quelqu'un a-t-il réussi à importer correctement des DXF de CLO 3D dans Illustrator sans cette erreur 2067 ?Toute aide, astuce ou solution de contournement (export CLO 3D, version AI...) est la bienvenue ! 🙏Merci beaucoup.Karine

Under what circumstances you can see Layer in appearance panel? I can understand the path below that.  

I have created a rectangle & applied 10mm live corners to each corner as "Chamfer" (straight 45° corners). Now I want to apply 2mm radius "round" corners to all eight of my chamfered corners but dont know how to do it? 

When I tried to use envelope distort, all the options were greyed out. How do I activate them?  

Hi everyone,I recently installed an Epson printer on my computer, and since then the colors in Adobe Illustrator have changed. When I open older EPS files, the colors look very different from how they originally were.I already uninstalled the printer, restarted my computer, and made sure the color profile settings are the same as before the installation — but the colors are still off.Has anyone experienced this before or knows how to fix it?Thanks in advance! 🙏

Hi all! I don't know what keys I'm hitting, but I get the emoje panel popping up constantly... and I never need to use it. I went in to shortcuts to try to delete whatever the shortcut is, but there's nothing I could find about emojis. So I'm guessing it's called something else. If you know what it is, I'd love to remove it. It's so annoying to have it pop up all the time. 

I use layer colors in my layers menu to keep things organized. For some reason they are now switching to all black. I have even changed them back and they revert back to black. Any reconmondations?  

When creating a multi page illustrator document the artboard are not displaying numerically after the first 16 pages. Please see the screenshot attached and look at the upper left hand corner of each artboard.I am running Mac Sequoia 15.6, using Illustrator 29.8.1. Please help as this is causing issues with importing the ai file into InDesign.

hi,My problem is following : I need to make a seamless pattern of an existing shutterstock pattern in size of 1024*1024px. Let's say the original pattern is simple, geometric and it's 1302*1180. The size is just an example, because the sizes vary in shutterstock. So my question is how to edit the pattern that it is loopable in its new demanded size, 1024*1024? Adobe Illustrator görseli bu şekilde kaydediyor. Kopyalanmış ve kaydırılmıştır. Eski konular ve metinler gösteriliyor. Orijinalinde böyle görünmüyor, ancak InDesign'ı çağırdığımızda böyle görünüyor. Hayalet bir şekil olarak görünüyor. Çalışma ivmesi yerinde yeniden kaydediliyor düzeliyor. Bu durum benim için çok can sıkıcı olmaya başladı. Lütfen çözünebilir.

hi all,although the interactive corner feature is really useful, unfortunately i cannot use it anymore. My problem is, that i can't see the corner-widget for all corners anymore. "Not anymore" because everthing worked fine and probably i made some changes in the settings or changed my workflow, and now i can't figure out where the issue is.So you can see in the screenshot, that for some corners the widget is visible, for some not. I already tried to play with the settings for corner-widget and also tried to convert the object into shape - nothing worked.What is also interesting: sometimes when i try to convert an object into shapes i just get a message "object was not converted".The issue mainly appears on objects wich i converted before (object -> path -> outline stroke). Objects which are created out of the rectangle tool, show all corner widgets.This one is created via pen tool -> object -> path -> outline stroke:This one is created via rectangle tool:So, does anyone

Every time I use the Effect > Path > Offset Path command, the dialog box defaults to an offset of 10px. In my daily workflow, I almost always use a much smaller value, like 1px or 2px.Having to manually change the value from 10px every single time is inefficient, especially when working on complex files.Is there any hidden preference or script to change this default value? If not, please consider this a feature request to either allow users to set their own default or have the dialog remember the last-used value, similar to how other tools function.Thank you.

Hi, I'm making a figure in Illustrator with 4 PNG files imported in it. When I export the illustrator file as PDF, the file I get messes up the figures. I am going crazy with this; never happened to me in years using Illustrator! Why is it behaving so badly? The images are simple PNGs!

Hi everyone, I wanted to ask a question: I'm working with Illustrator, and whatever object I select when creating a mockup, a message pops up that says: "Screenshot cannot be located." It's not a screenshot, but a placed image. I've also worked with screenshots and never had any problems. If you know what you're doing, could you explain it to me? Thanks for your time.

I am having an issue when scaling objects down (and interestingly, not up). When an object is scaled down it creates this sort of fragmented view that will hold until I zoom in or out. Fine with text, but if text is outlined as a shape it does this. I have updated to the most recent version as of today. Help?
