Paragraph style font application failed.Oddly enough, I this font that I apply from the control bar is working. In the list of word weights, there is an extra [(R)], sometimes Regular becomes [Regular], and R does not have []. In the past, I often encountered this kind of style, mainly because after packing the file, the ‘Document fonts’ and ‘C:\windowns\Fonts’ directory in the packing directory conflict.But my document fonts have not been packaged. I am using someone else's file, has he ever packaged it? Previously, just finding and replacing fonts was fine, but today I tossed it around for a long time to no avail.I created a new document, recreated the paragraph styles, and everything worked fine! 

Hello everyone:   I recently started a Graphic Design course at the Toronto Film School in August.  I was just diagnosed with Low Vision in March so I'm just getting used to screen reading software and I was shocked to know that a lot of the controls and Tooltips in all of the CC applications on PC are not picked up by a screen reader.  I even wrote a letter to Adobe and faxed it to Adobe Corporate Headquarters since overseas support hung up on me.     It's been incredibly frustrating to try and complete my assignments properly and I hope that Adobe addresses this soon as I get the same results with Freedom Scientific Fusion or NVDA.  Having to constantly zoom the whole screen in or out is very frustrating.  Has anyone else experienced this, or is my situation very unique?   I'm curious to know what others think, and whether I am being too ambitious.  Sorry for the rant.   <Title renamed by MOD>

I'm seeing screen re-draw issues and wondering if this an issue with InDesign 2024 (v19.1) and Sonoma (v14.1.2), or is it a physical GPU issue. I'm running a brand new Mac Studio M2.  I've been running InDesign on Sonoma since I got this computer in July with no issues other than some slowness and this occassional screen re-draw issue. The black on the page suddenly appeared, and then disappeared as I scrolled around, behaving similarly to when a graphics card starts going bad. I have an appointment with the Apple Store tomorrow to investigate, but today I read that there are issues with InDesign and Sonoma, so I don't know if I should bother with the Apple Store appointment or not.   

Today I downloaded InDesign 2024 and I'm totally new. I want to open PDF file at the program but "Place" is a gray window. No dialogue box comes up. Is not  the newest rounds of updates. Pleace help! 😕😕     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello,   I am trying to place a text.docx with 200+ footnotes in my IndEsign file, but the text seems to go nuts. I have never seens this. I made a short screenrecording, where you can see what happens.    I have no idea what is even happening. I need to run a couple menuActions on a batch of documents and I'm not sure if what I've done is correct or if maybe there's a more common way to do it. Here's my script:  for (var i = 0; app.documents.length > i; i++) { sortByName(); app.activeDocument = app.documents[1]; //go to the next document } function sortByName() { app.menuActions.itemByID(8505).invoke(); //sort p-styles app.menuActions.itemByID(8511).invoke(); //sort c-styles }  This will sort all the paragraph and character styles alphabetically in all open documents. It seems to work just fine, but I'm not sure about that 3rd line. I'm familiar with processing documents by their index, like app.documents[i].blahblah, but in this case, that app.menuActions would just run those menuActions over and over on the activeDocument. I need to make each document active one-by-one to run the app.menuActions, but once I've changed the activeDocument, obviously the index numbers chan

Hi, I am wondering how I can edit the AI generated photos in InDesign under "edit with" normally I can open the image directly in Photoshop, but the "edit with" menu doesn't show any selection. Do I have to package the document and then look for image and open it from there? That's the only way I have been able to do it. Thanks for any help.     <Title renamed by MOD>

Here's a weird quirk. If I set the font size to 10pt Define the First Baseline, Offset to Cap Height I can then Fit Frame to Content through the fitting options The properties window would tell me the height of the text frame and thus cap height is 6.5pt (for this font, Minion 3). Could also be thought of as 65% of the em square.     Now: If I set my text to be aligned to the baseline grid Then set a custom baseline grid with a start of 6.5pt The text doesn't align within the start value (referenced by the red square) and instead skips down to the next baseline.   Workarounds: Set the First Baseline, Offset to x Height or Fixed Increase the start value by a nominal amount. For example 6.501pt would work.   This appears to be a bug to me, does anyone have any insight into this?       <Title renamed by MOD>

Hallo,die neuste Version 19.5 bringt einen Bug mit sich. Wenn InDesign geschlossen wird, kommt eine System-Fehlermeldung unter Windows 11 pro: "Der Vorgang read konnte im Arbeitsspeicher nicht ausgeführt werden ..."Die Vorgängerversionen von InDesign und auch alle anderen Programme von Adobe haben das Problem nicht. Es liegt also sicher an Änderungen der Version 19.5. Hat das Problem schon jemand fixen können?

During startup, InDesign 19.5 gets to "Starting up panels..." stage, then slowly eats all of memory and crashes my system. This is on a Dell XPS 15 9500 laptop with 64GB of memory. It worked on this system in the past, and still works on my desktop system which has 24GB memory. I uninstalled and reinstalled with the same results. I also rolled back to 18.5, also with the same results. And have reset the startup file (Ctrl/Shift/Alt during startup), and that also did not resolve my problem. HELP please!

I will be working on an annual report that has lots of tables with financials. In the example below, I've highlighted the numbers which use a decimal tab, Character > OpenType > Tabular Lining with Kerning set as Metrics. The figures line up visually EXCEPT when I change the font weight from Proxima Regular to Extra Bold (next to last line in the screen capture). Is there a way to have mixed weights without faking it with hoizontally scaling (shown in the last line in the screen capture)?  

Holiday greetings all, trust everyone is keeping safe and healthy!Now for my question. I need to move graphics/objects within a document to precisely align them visually (Ctrl-4) within columns.Snap to grid/guides is turned off because the bounding boxes aren't consistent in size so I need to move them by eyeball and mouse so the border within the graphic itself aligns with the column guides.But moving them with the arrow keys overshoots where I want them and seems always to snap to the guides even though I have that turned off. Is there a way to adjust the movement settings for the arrow keys so they aren't as "macro", when I need them to be "micro"?When I press and hold with the mouse so I can move more precisely, they still seem to snap to the column guides even though "snap to" is turned off.I haven't explained this very well at all in my frustration, I'm hoping someone can figure out what I mean 🙂Many thanks for time and input!!

Bonjour, un ami a installé indesign 2022 sur son mac (Catalina) et il ne peut rien faire, l'outil main est constamment en fonction, on a supprimer le programme, réinstaller, démarrer avec les commandes pour réinitialiser les outils, mais toujours rien. Je ne sais plus quoi faire.Son clavier n'est pas bloqué (barre d'espace), sa souris fonctionne correctement. Il est embêté uniquement avec Indesign, et bien sûr c'est son outil de travail...D'avance merci aux personnes qui pourront nous aider. En 15 ans d'utilisation Indesign je n'ai jamais vu ni eu ce problème. 

I'd like to have an interactive Resume in PDF. I made a minimalistic resume using MS Word, which gives me the possibility to expand/collapse titles and paragraphs. this result is good enough for me, but it's quite unprofessional send it as a Word file, I need ot converted to PDF. But PDF doesn't keep the function at all. i've tried animate, Indesign... Please someone help me as i need to apply for a new job!!  Thank you in Advance!  i made a 10 sec video showing... 

It appears if all of the other links in the document are working.  I have deleted and physically recreated this link several times looking for spaces or other strange issues.  It is important to note, than when I test the link from within the document is works perfectly, but as soon as I export it to a PDF (interactive) it is adding the phantom %OD and the link won't work.  If after get the page not found error, I delete the %OD from the address line, the page will open fine.  I desparately need to get this to work properly.  I have attached the page in question.    I am using Adobe online on a PC.   <Title renamed by MOD>

I have a Indesign book , When I try to export it to a PDF . The Date and Time variable just vanishes away . Any help regarding this ? 

I created a link for review in indesign, update it a couple of time, but today the "update content' button has disappeared. Indesign only offers me to create a new link. I did not change the file, or rename it, or copy it. (It still the same if I check the properties). The original review link is still available but i can't update it. And with all the people involve in the process, it would be a massive problem to create a new one. Can i Relink my indesign file to the original review link ?      <Title renamed by MOD>

Seems to default to putting the pdfs in a folder named with the filename. I just want it either in the same folder as the indesign file or a folder named "pdfs."   {Renamed by MOD}

Our use case is to emboss Braille characters on a business card (hinting to a QR code for vcard download, as our blind colleague suggested).Using the Unicode code chart (Braille Patterns - Wikipedia), I searched in Windows' character map (thus making sure that the font actually contains Braille characters ... Myriad Pro seemed like a safe guess anyways).But the characters copied that way won't show in InDesign (neither in Illustrator). Hallo zusammen, in inDesign habe ich ein Portfolio (44 Seiten, DIN A4) erstellt, welches ich selbst binden möchte (Ausschuss auf DIN A3 Druckbögen, je Heft 2 Druckbögen, doppelseitig bedruckt). Unter Mac OS gibt es zwar die Möglichkeit die Datei als Broschüre zu exportieren, allerdings kann ich diese dann mit der richtigen Reihenfolge für eine Bindung nicht als PDF speichern, um sie zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt auszudrucken. Wie erhalte ich die Datei als PDF in der richtigen Reihenfolge der Seiten?  english:Hello everyone,In inDesign I have created a portfolio (44 pages, DIN A4), which I would like to bind myself (export on DIN A3 printed sheets, 2 printed sheets per issue, printed on both sides).Under Mac OS there is the possibility to export the file as a brochure, but I can then not save it as a PDF with the correct order for a binding in order to print it out later.How do I get the file as a PDF in the correct order of the pages?

Bonjour à tous et à toutes,je viens de passer au Système MONTEREY.Hier une installation Adobe Acrobat m'a empêché d'éteindre mon MAC.J'ai donc attendu une vingtaine de minutes, puis j'ai vérifié que toutes mes applis étaient bien à jour (dont Acrobat) sur Creative Cloud (Ce qui était le cas).J'ai donc quitté l'installation et éteind mon MAC.À l'ouverture ce matin, et alors que tous mes liens sont bien présents, lorsque j'ouvre un fichier Indesign afin de générer un PDF, une boite de Dialogue m'indique “Ce document contient des liens vers des fichiers et des URL qui ne sont pas accessible”… ensuite s'ouvre la fenêtre suivante avec “1 problème (1 échec) a été détecté avec les tâches en arrière-plan” / “Impossible d'exporter le fichier PDF”.J'ai désinstallé toute la suite ADOBE ainsi que CREATIVE CLOUD en nettoyant tous les Cookies/Prefs et autres fichiers parasites… j'ai tout réinstallé et le même souci revient. Incompréhensible !Merci d'avance si quelqu'un peut me trouver une solution…B

Hi, I like to know what applicaitons I should use if I want to createa simple product catalgoue which is showcased either on touch screen displayor iPad at trade show. Am I able to use InDesign to do that? Some trade show exhibitors use iPad to display such product informaiton.If InDesign is able to do that to diplay, to browse and to play video, that will be good.Just wonder what file format will it be exported to be used on iPad. If I want that catalgoue to be used on a Touch screen display, will ID export a fileto interactive PDF? Thanks in advance.
