Hi, I'm currently working on a project in Adobe InDesign, and I've encountered a challenge that I could use some assistance with. I'm trying to create a document that includes both landscape and portrait page layouts, with the ability to switch between them as needed within the document.I've tried following the usual steps for creating master pages and applying them to pages, but I couldn't find a specific "Section Break" option as seen in some other software like Microsoft Word. This has left me a bit confused about how to effectively manage the page orientation changes within my document.Could someone please provide guidance on how to achieve this mixed landscape and portrait page layout in Adobe InDesign? Any tips, tricks, or alternatve methods would be greatly appreciated. I`m adding screenshot for more clarity. I want page 20 to be portrait separetly and page 21 below it

An InDesign file was created on a Mac and used a 5-point star glyph from the Zapf Dingbats font. When the file is opened on a PC (same version of InDesign), no missing font notification appears, but that glyph is replaced with the outlined rectangle and the 5-point star does not exist. Why does this glyph exist on a Mac but not on a PC?     <Title renamed by MOD>

I have a terrible mess of an InDesign document created originally from a PDF file, whose structure reflects the PDF file rather too closely. Among other things, this means that most paragraphs are unthreaded, separate text frames/stories – and even worse, all text frames are embedded inside graphic frames that cover the entire page. This is not tenable, naturally, so as a first step, I would like to get all the text frames moved out of these graphic frames (so they’re direct children of the layer), but since the document is about 300 pages, and there’s probably about four text frames per page on average, I’d prefer to script it. But… how? In the UI, it’s a simple matter of opening the Layers panel and dragging the frame on to the layer, but in a script, I can’t figure out how to do it. If I just select an embedded text frame and try to move it to the base layer by doing this:  doc.selection[0].move(doc.layers.firstItem());  – then I get an error messa

Hello,   I'm very new to InDesign, and I'm having trouble figuring out the best way to achieve something:   There are certain segments of text that I would like to "set off" from the rest of the text by placing it in boxes and/or changing the inset setting.   So far, when I select a paragraph from within my larger text box and perform object > text frame options... And adjust the insets from there, the action affects the entire text box, not just my selected text.   Is there a good way to change these settings for just a few paragraphs within my document? I don't know how to do it without messing up the placement of all the text that comes after these paragraphs.   Thank you for any help    <Title renamed by MOD>

Hallo, seit einiger Zeit habe ich das Problem, dass sich Textboxen in Indesign nach einer unbestimmten Zeit nicht mehr vernünftig bearbeiten lassen. Ich kann weder die Größe noch den Inhalt verändern, ich habe nur die Möglichkeit, die Box per Klick aufzunehmen und an anderer Stelle wieder abzulegen. Nur ein Neustart von Indesign kann das Problem beheben. Weiß jemand, wie man das Problem beheben kann?   <Title renamed by MOD>

I tried many times but was not able to insert a specific jpeg file into InDesign. Other files worked. I tried saving as PDF and jpg but still don't see anything other than a white box.

Please help! i've uninstalled and reinstalled hoping it will help.  When i use my text tool to draw a new text box, and i drag and draw the box, it just selects the box that might be in the layer beneath, or if there is no layer its not inserting a box.   I've had no problem with it, until this morning its like my shortcuts or autoselect has been turned on, and i cant get it to work! please help

You used to be able to click on a page thumbnail and drag it to a different place in the flyout menu order. Now when you click on the thumbnail, Indesign want to apply the contents of the thumbnail to another thumbnail, but it does not move. What is the workaround to simply change the order of the page thumbnails? Thanks!

I have inherited a brochure file that is roughly 2 pages at 23 x 8. Previous versions of the brochure have been saved a 8 single page pdfs, I can figure out to split the massive pages myself with indesign or via exporting. Is there a way to make this change when exporting? or do you think the pdf was made by copying and pasting each "page" onto a single page   <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello everyone! A couple of days ago the Indesign and Premiere file icons appeared this way as if I did not have the software installed. When I open InDesign files they automatically open in version 18.5 and it asks me to update to version 19.1, I already have version 19.5, I try to save the files again in the most recent version and still, when I open them, version 18.5 appears asking me I update and the icons continue to look the same. I'm afraid this may damage my file. I'm working on Windows 11 V.22H2This is the message that appears when I try to open the files, it reads the following: InDesign was unable to open "File.indd" because it was created in a newer version, Adobe InDesign 19.1. Hi, I have several magazines on the server part of the Publish Online dashboard. I want to download some of these, but since I many times had upload problems from InDesign, where I had to turn off the downloadable option for readers, I can´t even seem to be able to download these from the dashboard myself.   Is this by design, that even I as the owner can´t download these PDFs from the dashboard? But if I can, could someone please explain how? Is there some trick to download them from the link perhaps? I don´t mean when I open the magazine in view mode in a browser (there I can see the download option for some of the older magazines, but not for all of them)   I´ve been thinking this dashboard has me covered for a backup of these PDFs, but I need to be able to download them.   Appreciate any input.   <Title renamed by MOD>

I know there are already a few threads in regards to this, however most of them are asking how can they shut Indesign when they get this message.My problem is that I'm not able to use Indesign BECAUSE of this message and have no idea how to resolve this.If anybody had my same problem and know how to fix it please help!Thank you

When generating an AI image in InDesign it is RGB, but I need it to be CMYK for print.

Hi thereOn my Mac, on my external keyboard, I have the function keys assigned in a standard way, so i.e. F10 to F12 for audio volume etc. But this way, when I work in Indesign, I have to press the additional fn key to use the F-shortcuts (i.e. F7 for "View > Show/hide guides".)  This bothers me.Is there a way to have the Function Keys assigned in a way that they work as default when I'm not using an Adobe Application, but as soon as I open Indesign, F7 becomes the standard Indesign shortcut, without having to press the additional fn key ? So in a way, Indesign overrides the MacOS functions, or MacOS makes exceptions for Indesign?(I hope I made it clear, English is not my first language).Thanks and best regards

Hey there   I've been teaching University students some InDesign layout basics and noticed the students with Chinese language versions of InDesign don't appear to have any Snap to Baseline features. Or, at least, there are no options appearing in the Paragraph or Paragraph Styles palettes. Has anyone else encountered this and is there a way to get them to appear? Hi,   I'm having trouble with export to pdf with bleed. When I export the same file from indesign and illustrator, bleeds are just notr the same. I have indesign file with numeration with dimensions 80x150mm + 3 mm bleed and ai file with the same dimensions. When I export to pdf from both programs artboard dimension stays the same but bleed is different.   IDD file:  AI file:   PDF export (first one - Indesign file has actual 3mm bleed and Illustrator file has actual 5mm bleed when printed):     In indesign I use options High quality print and in Marks and in bleeds settings I check the boxes Crop marks and Use document bleed settings. In Illustrator I use export options High quality print and in Marks and in bleeds settings I check the boxes Trim marks and Use document bleed settings. If I save the same file from Illustrator in Indesign than the bleeds are aligned.   Any idea why this problem occurs?<Title renamed by MOD>

Hi - running into an issue when centering text in small text boxes. I'd likely never have noticed if there wasn't a colored fill in the box. It's most noticeable with a longer line of text (see Madeline's box in the sample). When I select the line, it appears that InDesign is adding a space at the end of the name which is throwing it off center (see second image). If I attempt to delete that space, it deletes the paragraph break. What am I doing wrong and how do I fix??  I've been using InDesign for over a decade and have never noticed this before.          <Title renamed by MOD>    

Beim PDF-Export von Idesign kommt folgendé Fehlermeldung: Die eingebettete Schrift SourceSansProBold kann nicht entnommen werden. Einige Zeichen werrden möglicherweise nicht korrekt angezeigt bzw. gedruckt. Wer kann helfen? 

Say i want to change the color ##7862AC to a CMYK variant. When use one of the thousand online converter tools i get this : 30.23%, 43.02%, 0%, 32.55% But.. when i change it in Indesign by  swatches-> swatch options -> colourmode "CMYK" i get: 65%, 68%, 3%, 3%)  Which method is right? (the Indesign version has less colour difference (on screen). thnx

I've noticed that fonts are often missing when I open older ID files. However, when I examine those missing fonts, it's not that the font is missing; it's that the font style, instead of being something like "Regular" or "Bold," is set to either "Custom" or, in the case of the document I just opened, "10pt," in brackets, of course, because there is no "10pt" style.   Does this have something to do with variable fonts? I use ID irregularly throughout the year, so may not be on top of some of the more recent changes. It does seem odd that these files are somehow changing.     <Title renamed by MOD>
