Questions

I have a document with a numbered list. For some odd reason when the list increments to 20, I'm seeing a big increase in indentation. When it increments to 21-29, it returns to normal (13, -13) but at 30, I see the increase in indentation. It doesn't happed at 10 - only 20, 30, 40, etc. There is nothing there like a shape with text wrap. I tried different left and 1st line indent values including zeroing them out, but nothing changes the bevahior. I tried creating a new paragraph style but still end up with this. I created a new text frame off canvas and each time I get to 20, 30, etc. i see the same thing happens. I tried swapping out fonts - no go. Any help would be grateful.    

InDesign (21.01) does not launch

Hello,I’m experiencing a blocking issue with the Package function in InDesign 2025 on macOS Tahoe 26.On macOS Sonoma 14.7, the Package function works perfectly with the same document.On macOS Tahoe 26, I tested on two different Macs and the issue occurs every time.When trying File > Package…, InDesign returns the error:InDesign could not package the document. Cannot copy the necessary linked files.  Details:All links are valid (no missing or modified files).Fonts are activated and not missing.The issue happens whether I try to package to the Desktop, to a folder in Documents, or to an external volume.Tried with “include fonts” checked/unchecked → same issue.Tried saving as IDML before packaging → still fails.This looks like a compatibility issue between InDesign and macOS Tahoe 26, possibly related to new file system permissions. Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround or an upcoming patch?Thanks in advance for your help

This is not specific to InDesign. Upon doing routine updates to my creative cloud account, Several of my products are claiming "Not Compatible". My Windows 11 updates daily and I do have the most current version, I even update manually to ensure I am most current. How then, are these products suddently Not Compatible? I think it is a bug in the Adobe system, which is not reading my updates correctly (or at all). What do you suggest? Please forward this to the actual Adobe Support team, if there is a human one anymore.

Hi there, Sometimes Adobe fonts do not activate and show as missing, even though they are loaded in CC. I have to replace every time this occurs.In the Info panel of Fonts dialog box these 'missing" fonts show as 'Unknown'? I have an issue where each time I load my project, it crashes when I try to edit certain pages or assets. One page in particular is super touchy and every time I touch anything on that page, it crashes. I tried to export to pdf so I could at least save what I have, but it crashed there too. I am collaborating with another user and the same thing happened to them, so I know it's not my computer. This is an educational resource for teachers that is grant funded, and is due Fri, so I need to have this done ASAP. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks - guy

Bonjour,Je viens de remarquer qu'il m'est impossible d'ouvrir certains fichiers. Indesign m'affiche ce message d'erreur : "Impossible d'ouvrir le fichier 'XXX'. Adobe InDesign ne prend peut-être pas en charge ce format de fichier, le module externe le prenant en charge est peut-être manquant ou le fichier est peut-être déjà ouvert dans une autre application."Je dispose de la toute dernière version du logiciel (21.0.1) sur Mac. J'ai essayé de réinstaller d'anciennes versions mais le problème persiste. Cela semble s'appliquer de façon aléatoire, certains fichiers sont touchés et d'autres non, bien que similaires dans leur contenu. Le problème s'applique également pour les exports PDF de ces mêmes fichiers.Auriez-vous des pistes de résolution ? Est-il possible de récupérer ces fichiers ?Merci par avance pour votre aide !Jérémy

This happens to me every now and then: InDesign completely messes up the preview on my screen. If I zoom in or out, it usually disappears.At first, I blamed it on my old computer, where the graphics card was probably failing, but the same problem persists on my new Mac Mini.It doesn't seem to happen at all; it's completely random. This issue is still not fixed with the latest update (21.0.1), and it's even worse.If I move an object with a drop shadow, InDesign "moves" the entire shadow. Zooming in and out doesn't help; I have to completely close and reopen the document for it to work as it should.

Hallo Ihr Lieben, ich verbringe schon den ganzen Nachmittag damit. Ich möchte Bilder mit der Datenzusammenführung in Indesign darstellen. Ich habe der excel '@Bild in der kopfzeile, den Bildmen darunter 222.jpg In Indesign bei der Datenzusammenführung zeigt er das kleine bildicon an, doch er findet das Bild nicht. Ich habe es schon mit dem pfad probiert in der excel, und das bild liegt im selben ordner wie die .txt datei.  Bin mittlerweile verzweifelt, weil in der Vorschau und der ausgabe es nicht gezeigt wird, indesign sagt bild fehlt. Wäre für schnelle hilfe sehr dankbar.  

Currently on a mac running Tahoe 26.0.1. I'm having freezing issues for InDesign version 21.0.1 and 20.5.1. I've restarted my compture, uninstalled/reinstalled, cleared the cache upwards of 50 times. It'll occassionally work and then get stuck in an endless loop of being frozen forcing me to Force Quit.   This is supremely frustrating as I use InDesign primarily for 99% of all my projects. Depois que atualizei o INDD para a versão mais recente o desfazer parou de funcionar propriamenteSe voce fizer 10 ações ele some com as primeiras na aba historico e ficam só as 4 ultimas mais ou menos, só da para desfazer 4 açõesJa apaguei cache, remontei o cache, reinstalei e nada resolveuEu tenho 32 de ram, então não deve ser por causa de pouca memoria, mesmo porque até então funcionava muito bemAlguem tem alguma luz? Obrigado! 

 Hi, I'm a Mac OS 15.6.1  user. I updated to Indesign 21.0 this morning. When I opened a file and tried to move the InDesign program to another extended monitor, the mouse didn’t work in the red area shown in the attached image. It’s not just me—my colleague is experiencing the same issue. We downgraded back to version 20.5 , and now everything works fine. I’d like to know if this is a program bug or if it’s just an issue on our end, and how we can fix it.     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello, I don't know if anyone is experiencing this but when I go to ungroup items, it deselects everything. This started happening when I updated to 2026. Anyone else notice this? Please let me know how to fix this so I can sleep at night.<Title renamed by MOD>

I have used InDesign for many years, and, to create a dashed line around an object, I have always gone to the stroke palette, entered the number I wanted the dashes to be spaced by, clicked enter, and had it changed.  Took about a second.  Now that space to enter the numbers is missing and it appears Adobe thinks I want to save that stroke as a style, go into yet another palette, play with some ruler, etc., etc., etc.  I can't believe they really chose to add so much extra work to something that was literally almost an after thought.  Does anyone know of a way to get those boxes back?  I use them all of the time and seriously don't want to have to waste my time creating a "style" that is not needed.  Each time I need a dashed line, it is custom for the particular item I am working on.  I am working on a PC in the latest ID.  Thanks for any help.GS

Are NVIDIA cards not compatible with adobe indesign? and if so, what is the reason that indesign can't see my card?

I'm at my wit's end with this book I'm working on. The author kept on checking the spaces between words and I already told him that because of the justification settings it will never be 100% equal in the entire book. With that being said, maybe someone can help me check if there's anything else I can do with this book. Maybe a tip on a good justification settings? right now, this is mine. (attached below.) I also attached the latest pdf of the book i'm working on.

I want to open my converted idml files from work and open them at home, it gets to 33% but then i keep getting an error message saying The IDML file conversion service is unavailable please try later, any idea when this service will be up and running again!

I am looking for a way to integrate a DAM application with InDesign such that I can use DAM assets in InDesign Documents. The challenge is that once the image is dropped into an InDesign file, we cannot track the image from DAM Prospect requirementsAbility track what all images that are used in InDesign files and trace /link them back to DAMAbility to notify users when new versions of images are created in DAMAbility to identify all files used by a specific image Is this possible through any plugin? Is there any way that we can notify that the used image has been updated or removed from DAM?

Hi, I'm on the latest Indesign version (21.0) and my Save and Save as dialog windows are blank. It started last week, before that I did not have this problem. I am using a work-around as Save a copy window works. I already tried setting preferences to the old dialog window, deleting caches and force restarting Indesign. So far to no avail. Adding a screenshot of the Save dialog window. 

Bonjour,Depuis quelques jours je n'arrive plus à ouvrir les fichiers .indd depuis l'Explorateur Windows car ils ne sont pas associés avec la version 2025 d'InDesign (alors que ça a déjà fonctionné avant - j'ai la version 2025 depuis sa publication et ces fichiers ont été enregistrés avec).Un clic sur le fichier .indd ouvre InDesign 2024, mais le fichier étant enregistré avec la version 2025, Adobe me propose de mettre à jour mon logiciel (ce qui n'aboutit pas car le logiciel est déjà à jour).J'ai aussi essayé d'associer les fichiers .indd via les paramètres de Windows (j'ai Windows 11 professional) et via "ouvrir avec", mais je n'arrive pas à sélectionner la version 2025 d'InDesign : je trouve bien le fichier dans  C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign 2025\InDesign.exe, mais il ne se met pas dans la liste des logiciels disponibles pour l'association au fichier. Pouvez-vous m'aider ? I'm having the same issue as many others: when making any changes to text within a text box, like typing within it, cutting/pasteing, editing, etc. the text disappears. Sometimes it'll come back if I click out of the text box. Sometimes it comes back if I switch between normal and preview mode. It doesn't happen every time, but often enough to be incredibly annoying. I'm running:Mac OS 12.0.1Macbook Air M1 2020InDesign 17.0.1

I want to try out generating an image through C++. Do we have access to text to image feature through the C++ sdk?
