We have never used a map file but we are now offering multi-language help via the web and I believe the best way to support this is by using map ids. However the information on how to do this in Robohelp is sparse bordering on non-existent. I have created an HTML5 site that has been mapped within Robohelp but navigation using the map id in the url (http://localhost/index.htm?rhmapno=5) provides a blank page. I have spent the morning scrolling round dead links and I hope someone can give me a simple answer. Can I navigate my html5 site using map ids?How do I set this up?What do I need to provide to my developer ?
Has anyone used the Command Line to generate the online help from RoboHelp 2022? For years we've been using RoboHelp 2020 and generating the help from the Command Line as part of our build process. Now we've updated to RoboHelp 2022 Update 5 and we're trying to use the same Command Line commands. We're getting strange warnings (errors?) that don't seem to be related to anything in my content:Warning: Accessing non-existent property 'padLevels' of module exports inside circular dependencyThe interesting thing is that the help appears to generate just fine, but the warnings (errors) are stopping my automated build process. I even tried just running the command to get the manpages - the help - for the command line tool - robohelp.exe --cl -?And still getting those strange warnings. So it's gotta be something in the support of the command line tool, and not the content files, right?Has anyone been able to use RoboHelp 2022 Update 5 with the Command Line execution
We recently converted from RH2015 to RH2022. We have a large help system with numerous merged subsystems all pulled together through a parent project TOC. (We followed the video tutorial in setting this up.)Initially, the help displayed correctly through both Windows Explorer and the live product. Lately, however, it has displayed as seen in the attached screenshot when opened from the live product. Has anyone see this before? Do you have any idea what might be causing it? The live product is set up so that users can select a button to open help "on this window" to see help for just that screen, or "open help," which opens the intro subsystem and the master TOC. Regardless of which is selected, the help appears wonky. The first screen shot is from Windows Explorer--this is how it should display. The second screen shot is how it actually displays from the live product.Any help is appreciated!
Should be simple; can do it in MS Word. I am trying to make the thickness of the "underline" effect greater (e.g., in word, by selecting the underline icon in the font section, you can choose thin or thick, dotted, etc.). I would think that just like "bolding" a selected word makes the letter characters more prominent, you should be able to make the underline effect more prominent. Thanks!
I'm on macOS 15, RoboHelp 2022.5. When I search for a particular string, I get a bunch of bogus search results—files that have been moved, renamed, or are no longer part of the project. If I try to open those links, RoboHelp prompts me to restart. When my colleague searches using RoboHelp 2022.5 on Windows, he sees fewer, but correct, results. I looked in Project Settings but I don't see anything that talks about reindexing. Do you have any suggestions? macOS results (bogus): Windows results (real):
I have a Frameless template where my Print and Remove Highlight buttons reside in the mini TOC. When you view the help on a mobile device, the mini TOC goes away, but then so does our Print and Remove Highlight buttons. Is there a way to add these button somewhere else for the mobile version of the template? Those buttons have their own sections under the "Right Panel" drop-down when you're editing the Topic Page elements for the desktop view, but then there doesn't seem to be an equivalent when you're editing for the mobile view. Thought I'd ask for help first before going down a rabbit hole.
The content sensitive help is great when it goes to directly to a topic that has a Map ID. What if there is a request coming in and there is no topic/Map ID. Currently it appears to default to the main page (index.htm > default topic -- in my case the home page). Is there a way to keep the "default topic/home page" while having any requests coming in to go to a No Map ID topic? I've looked through the community and Peter's site (VERY helpful site!), but I cannot find any information on this.
Hey, maybe someone can help me here. 🙂We have a frameless and a PDF output. In the frameless output we have for example a topic in which we have several expanders. Now we would like to use these expanders automatically as sub-headings in the table of contents of the PDF output. As far as I know, RoboHelp can only generate table of contents from headings and not from expanders. Is there a way to generate the PDF table of contents from expanders? Thanks in advance!
The review can be carried out via the email notification 'Invitation'.The text passage in question/to be corrected is not displayed via the 'New replies' mail notification. (Screen_2)When we use the button "All responses" in the Mail from Adobe Creative Cloud it only leads to the review itself without any content. (Screen_3) Is this something which will be fixed in future?
Dear All, We experimented with Microcontent provision in Robo Help 2022.Is there any other option to navigate to an exact procedure from the Home page? Thanks,Amrutha V Nair
How can I remove the Header container altogether from either the Frameless or ResponsiveHTML templates? I am not finding an option to disable the header section from templates.
Hello, I'm using FM 17.0.3.546 and RH 2022.3.93 I'm having an issue with some of my FM cross-reference not linking in RH.When:in FM, I cross-reference a section or sub-section within the same chapter, the link is made in RH—I click the link in the generated output and it jumps to the correct section.in FM, I cross-reference a section in another chapter, the link doesn't get created in RH—I click the link in the generated output and it doesn't jump to the section. This is how I generated my output:In FM, my .book contains 10 chapters, and in RH, I created a new projects, and used Link Folder to link my project. This works fine. In RH, Author>Contents: I set up my FM link settings to start new topic from style (right-click link .fm file, click Edit Settings>General>Start new topic from style, and point to my FM paragraph tags I want topics for). This works great! In RH, Author>Contents: I created the topics (right-click link .fm file, click Create Topics).
Hi, I've just been given a new documentation task after the author left the company. This an old project and in RoboHelp 11, via TC suite 5.0. I have no experience with this version and activation, but have on 2015. On 2015 there was a serial number activation which can still be used today for old projects. But for RoboHelp 11 it's an online activation that does not work with my active Adobe TCs suite. (no surprise here). Is there a workaround or another way? I spent a long time getting 2015 up and running for another team again as Adobe themselves couldn't help and eventually the serial number was recovered. I will look to upgrade both projects to current RoboHelp, but this is not possible right now. Any help greatly appreciated Is it still possible to
How can I open a RoboHelp URL like the following from a .NET WinForms app using HelpProvider?https://example.com/Invoicing/Point-of-Sale/Basic_POS.htmWe've tried setting the following on the HelpProvider classhelpProvider1.HelpNamespace = "https://example.com/";helpProvider1.SetHelpKeyword(this, "Invoicing/Point-of-Sale/Basic_POS.htm");helpProvider1.SetHelpNavigator(this, HelpNavigator.Topic); But when F1 is pressed, HelpProvider concatenates HelpNamespace and HelpKeyword with the # character between the values which does not work since it's not a valid anchor:https://example.com/#Invoicing/Point-of-Sale/Basic_POS.htm
After building in Robohelp 2022, I want to copy all files in the folder I specified to the build folder. Are there any js script examples? And is there a special environment variable for the Robohelp build location?
Hi friends, I need a way to display the content from one HTM topic to another.Let’s say I have two topics:Dynamic/Topic 1 – This topic has the information that might need to exist in more than one area. Its information might change, I might even change its file path, file name, etc.,Static/Topic 2 – This topic should display Topic 1’s content. Other than the information Topic 2 is displaying from Topic 1, this topic can never change.I know I can do this in one of the following ways: I could copy and paste topic 1’s content into Topic 2.This is manual process that I’d like to avoid.I know I could create a Cross-Reference to link the user from Topic 2 to Topic 1.I don't want to make the user have to click a second link.I know I could create a snippet of Topic 1’s content and add it to Topic 2. I would have to update topic 1 and the snippet each time.Ideally, I would love to insert an element into Topic 2 that automatically pulls all the content from Topic 1. I don’t know
Howdy, I am wondering if it is possible to create an Active Review with as specific Conditional Tag applied. At my organization we use RoboHelp as a single source to author user documentaion for our imaging systems and software. A lot of the software is shared amongst our different models, but there are specific features for specific models, and we handel this with conditional tagging. I would like to create an Active Review that contains Topics with multiple Conditional Tags, but filtered so that the reviewer only sees content relevant to one Conditional Tag. Is this possible? Thanks,Wren
I was searching for a way to use only 1 PDF Template for all my manuals, instead of using a separate Template for every output due to the different covers. This way, I only have to make changes to the general layout or css once and not multiple times. It is possible to only define the look and feel (i.e. header and footer) of the front page without having to define its content as well in the PDF template. This enables you to use one PDF template for all your PDF-outputs. Here is a short how-to, in case you also want to use my method: Please note, that this will only work if all your front matter topics except the TOC can have the same layout. Steps:1. Create a topic that shall be used as your front cover 2. Insert this topic into your TOC under Front Matter Topics at the first position 3. In the Template, define a page layout for your cover (in German: Deckblatt) and other front matter topics, containing just the desired header / footer, b
Hi everyone,I have a project that was originally created in Adobe RoboHelp 2019, and I found the ".xpj" file in the existing project. However, I’m unable to open this file with RoboHelp 2020 or 2022.Has anyone faced a similar issue or know how to open or migrate the project to these newer versions? Any guidance on compatibility or steps to take would be really helpful. Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi,Robohelp Skin Edit Orange Theme Footer is not visible when i genrate output. Can some help with screenshot.
We are trying to set up source control using Azure Dev Ops with RH 2022.5.28. We are encountering two errors. Regarding the first error, the user is set up as an administrative user with full permission as far as we can tell.It looks as if we are getting the files to sync, but if we try to check them in, we get the second error after clicking the Check In button. We may switch to trying to use SharePoint Online for source control, but, before we do, I wanted to see if anyone else has encountered the above two errors and, if yes, knows how to resolve them. Thanks!
2022.4.179 I'm using bookmarks in Topics and then using them to create Map IDs. I thought that the Map IDs for a bookmark, when called, would go directly to that bookmark wherever it is in the topic. The dev folks are saying that maybe there's something to "turn ON" in RH to make the IDs go straight to where I placed the bookmark. Again, thanks for any and all insights!
I'm struggling to fathom how a functionality as simple as snippet categories can go repeatedly wrong, so I'm just asking here just to check if it's not something else.As far as I can tell, two/three new bugs have been introduced in 2022.5: 1) the button Snippet categories (Topic properties panel) does not workTrying to switch a snippet to another category does not work. You have to manually edit the snippetcategories.xml file. 2) renaming a snippet causes it to revert to Default category 3) Editing snippets outside of RH causes snippetcategories.xml to delete itselfI can somewhat accept this one, but it's still fascinating to have everything straight up deleted (and replaced by a new file with only the renamed file) if you rename a snippet file in file explorer.
We converted from RH2015 to RH2022. When a converted link opens, it is opening in a new window instead of the same frame, effectively cutting off the user from the rest of the help. Is there any way to have links open in the same frame?
Is there a way to categorize variables in RH2019 instead of having them all appear as one long list in the variables panel?
