I used to use the puppet tool animating the pins in real time while the audio of the video was played. Since the after effects 2014 version there is a bug that no longer plays the audio of the video while animating the pins in real time, making the tool uncomfortable or impossible to use in case you are animating a character that speaks...

Why is colour management with dynamic link still such utter garbage? Why can't you just make anything straightforward? 

Trying to use Auto Trace to reveal a logo, but the bottom part of the logo shows up before the rest of it . Not sure how to fix that. Any suggestions would be helpful. I’ve added a screen cap for context.

I'm layering text over a background paper texture and am trying to change the blending mode to make the text look like it's printed on the paper. It's very easy to achieve this effect using Photoshop's "Blend If" feature in the blending modes menu:The effect can be very effectively fine-tuned using these sliders:I'm wondering if there's a way to achieve this same effect in After Effects. No combination of After Effects' blending modes that I've tried yields the same result where the texture of the paper really shows through the text like that. This is the closest I can can get: One workaround I've been using is to create the effect I want in Photoshop, import the PSD layers into After Effects and then turn on advanced blending, but this creates a whole bunch of annoying limitations, and I'd rather not have to go back into the PSDs to make formatting changes, so I'm hoping this effect can be produced completely within After Effects. Thanks!

I clearly want to  update my plugins after a while and that includes adding new parameters or replacing old parameters with new ones of different types. Question is, how do I do that without corrupting old projects? Currently I made a copy of my code and I have both the old version and the new version with different parameters just to prevent breaking my old projects. The downside is that I had to modify the name of the plugins (added 2.0 at the end) and also the old plugins obviously don’t get the actual functionality update(s). How can add/replace parameters without breaking old projects? Is the only way to keep the old parameters as invisible/hidden and read their values to adapt the new ones? That makes the code very messy.

Problem Description:In AE 25.5.0 both win / macOSAfter turning on 3D on layers in Advanced Renderer, if you turn them off, layers outside the comp will still have 3D wireframe displayed. Steps to Reproduce:Turn on 3D on a layerSwitch to Advanced RendererSwitch off 3D on the layer.If the layers goes outside the comp, AE will display 3D wireframe. Expected Result:  no wireframe at all.   

AE 25.5, MacOS Sequoia 15.7.1, m1 MBP Max, 64gb RAMAfter Effects Timeline/Keyboard issue (see attached video):When the cursor keys (left and right) are pressed, the playback head moves frame by frame along the timeline (like in Premiere) instead of incrementally moving the object. Not shown in the video, but pressing the up and down cursor keys will toggle between selecting an upper or lower layer in the stack instead of incremenatlly moving the selected object up or down.Uninstalling/resinstalling, restarting, launching in safe mode, etc have not resolved the issue. I’m running into a 2–4 second delay when editing text layers. For some reason, it seems to lag every time the text is updated. Even after changing to another font (such as Arial), resetting the Character panel, disabling Faux styles, and lowering the preview resolution, the issue persists.This behavior doesn’t seem hardware-related.This is significantly affecting my workflow, especially given the premium price of the software. At this point, I’m considering moving to UE5 for motion graphics, particularly because of its real-time rendering capabilities. For reference, my setup:Ryzen 9 5990X / 64 GB RAM / RTX 3080 Ti 12 GB / 2.2 TB SSDAfter Effects is updated to the latest version.

In After Effects, the Effects panel randomly becomes unresponsive. The app doesn’t crash, but I can’t select any effects. It worked minutes ago. Sometimes it fixes itself, sometimes I must restart AE. 

Ever since version 25.2 we have been noticing a weird bug.We work in 32bit ACES exclusively.Every now and then we come across a composition that just clamps all the HDR values down to 1.I've managed to isolate a comp like that and the problem itself:- AE ver 25.2 or later (even Beta)- comp has minimum 3 layers- at least two layers must be in Add mode - both have to have motion blur turned on- motion blur in the comp is on The problem fixes itself in any of the following cases:- one of the layers gets hidden - so that only one additive layer remains- you disable motion blur in the comp- you disable motion blur on one of the layers, so that only 1 layer has motion blur- you switch renderer from GPU to software- you open the same project in AE 25.1 This occurs rarely, but if we find a comp like that it bugs out on all our machines- rtx 4xxxx or rtx5xxxx- win10 or win11- throughout the last year we've reinstalled gpu drivers 3-4 times already I have an example project - I can upload it, ju

I posted this yesterday, but for some reason the post disappeared. So trying again…I’m a subscriber to Creative Suite running the latest version of After Effects (25.6.4 Build 3) on Windows 11.Has the option to disabled the “Tip of the Day” from displaying at After Effects first load been removed?I’m not finding the option to disable that in the usual place Preferences > Startup & Repair. The clips started in premiere pro and I replaced sequence with AE comp, in premiere pro I used gyroflow to help stablize the footage. I’m using Track Motion on 4K 60fps footage that’s been precomped twice and is now in a 1080p comp. I’m tracking inside the 1080 comp and applying the data to a null using Edit Target. The track itself looks solid with no visible drift, but once I apply it, the null starts in the correct position and then immediately drifts as playback begins. The null is currently parented to the tracked layer. Both layers are at 100% scale, and there’s no time remapping or stabilization applied.  

Hello everyone, Since last week Thursday I have been having issues with After effects.After using after effects for a few minutes the preview screen freezes. Once that happens if I try to continue editing after effects will freeze. When trying to close after effects it won't work. Even closing it with task manager doesn't work. It only closes if I completely restart my laptop. The past few days I did more testing. trying to edit and restart after effects everytime it wanted to freeze and crash. The more I work in the project and add more things the faster it will eventually freeze. Doing simple things like masking a picture or adding beat markers also could make this freeze happen.  These past days new versions of after effects came out. sadly when updating these versions didn't fix the problem and today with the new update 25.5 it still didn't fix.  I already tried a few things:Reseting prefrences, Starting up in safe mode (same issues occured), turning off al

Hey guys, just got after effects and am already hating the crap out of it. I used to use after effects 7 back and the day and have never ran into this problem. I’m currently trying to render about 4 minute video which basically the only effects I’m using are scaling, rotation, particle effects and some motion pixel blur. The concept is to just have the video rotating zooming out, when ever I go to render it jumps to 200+ hours and then fails about 11 hours in. I’m currently using a Mac Studio with the M4 max processor and 36gbs of ram.Ive tried all the solutions on the internet, including Turning off multi frame rendering, apple pro res encoding, QuickTime format, emptying the cache, pdf image rendering, allocating the ram just for after effects, etc…Im trying to render the video to my ssd which has 2100mb/s write speed. Maybe thats the issue? I want to render it to my computer harddrive but its currently full due to all of my recording files/plugins/sample files.what should I do?!?

When using the new 3D Renderer, is it possible to convert a 3D Solid into a Plane Mesh?Alternatively, is it possible to create 3D mesh layers via Script?

Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well Today I discovered Frame.io and I have been using it in its website, but I want to use it on After effects so I can upload my projects directly from there. I made sure to download the plugin in the Creative Cloud Marketplace, but it seems to not work. When I go to Window (I does not let me click on Extensions even though I have other extensions as Mr. Horse) > It only gives me the option "Review with Frame.io" and when I open it, it says: "Unsupported account, acces this account with the new Frame.io V4 Comments panel", so I does not let me even upload a file (I have already log in) I just downloaded that from the marketplace! And I opened Premiere and it seems that it does work there.  Does anyone know how to solve this problem?. I personally think Frame.io would work perfectly for my job, so It would be very sad if I can not use it in After effects. Thank you so much in advance and have a great one!

I have an AI-generated MP4 file that I want to use in After Effects as a vector animation. However, excluding the option of manually drawing it, I’ve explored several methods, but it’s more challenging than I expected.One approach I considered was using image tracing in Illustrator for each frame of the MP4, but this results in too many shapes being generated. Additionally, if there’s a shape for something like a head, the process of linking those shapes across frames and applying animation is extremely tedious.Is there another method that could work more efficiently? Fortunately, I found a sample, but I’m still unsure about how it was made. I’ll share the After Effects sample file. Does this sample look hand-drawn? I’ll be waiting for your response.

I'm trying to use Frame.io in the panel in AE, but end up going around in circles. When I click to log in with my adobe ID, it seem like I can log in, but then I get a message saying something about "unsupported account" and there's a button to click to go to a "v4 comments panel." I click that button and nothing happens. WTF? It does seem that I'm logged in though, I can click to see my account info and can start to create a new project, but when I try to confirm the new project, the dialog box just doesn't close and no project is created. Am I doing something wrong, or is this frame.io panel just broken?

The last save file on after effects is not getting saved some times and also it was not saved in autosave. When I close and open its not showing it as saved.

I have a project in Frame.io but when trying to access it in AE, it just shows nothing nad it’s saying “Unsupported account”It says “Go to Window...” but there’s no Frame.io under Window menu...Any ideas?

I’m trying to use the new feature that’s supposed to allow me to manipulate the gradient baked into an Illustrator file. However, when I import and convert vector to shape, I just get a grey fill instead of any gradient options. I’m not the most advanced Illustrator user, so I suspect there’s something within that file that’s causing trouble. I’ve attached.Any help is appreciated - thanks!

After Effects Version 23.2.0 (Build 65) Windows 11 22H2 (Build 22621.1265)   Menu items take a long time to drop down when clicked, sometimes over a minute. The software will hang while I wait. The Composition menu is the least responsive of the menus. This started after I upgraded to Windows 11.   Expected result: click on the Composition menu and see the dropdown instantly Actual result: click on the Composition menu and After Effects hangs for up to a minute before the menu appears.   Title edited by Mod.
